Thank you for your excellent and very convincing review of the Bugs 4 W. I purchased its little brother two weeks ago after watching your review of it, and must have crash it over a half dozen times. It is still flying with its bruised nacelle and props like it was still brand new out of the box. I own a Mavivic 2 Pro which is hardly a beginner drone, and which I’ve been handling with velvet gloves. That little Bugs 103 drone impressed me so much I decided to order the Bugs 4W. Great review as usual, I think this is the drone I’ll save for to help me do my volunteer work as a Fire Warden in Australia as I broke my back in the Army and this drone will mean I can do an Air rec of people’s properties instead of walking them to give them their fire permits. I bought this drone and a Simtoo Fairy, both based on Capt. Drone's videos. And they cost me about the same bucks.
The Bugs4 is five times what the Fairy is. It is so powerful and substantial that it fears no wind gust or klutzy pilot. It is like an airborne 1957 V8 Buick, and almost as quiet.
If you force the fake antennae on the controller side-wise they easily pop out. Makes for a much cleaner and easier to use controller.
By your videos one might think that you are the only person living in Canada, Cap'n. So many nice parks and no crowds abusing them! But forget the Simtoo Fairy.
I avoid people when flying drones so I come out in the early morning when people are still sleeping.

I just ordered the Bug 4W based on Captain Drone video reviews. I love the idea that it’s bigger and heavy, a little slow. I think at this price level it’s outstanding with the landing lights and ground sensors allowing indoor flight as well. I have a huge indoor horse riding arena available to me to fly in, in-law’s place. Ceilings as high as any gymnasium. Winters are long here on the IL/WI state line. I do plan on the drone capturing beautiful areas on my motorcycle trips come Spring & Summer especially through Western Wisconsin (Driftless area where the glaciers never passed through) talk about God’s country. This is a small step up for me. I have a Walmart huge Shadow Drone now Model P-70. Pretty impossible to put it in my motorcycle saddle bag. I very much appreciate the time that Captain Drone puts into these videos. Likable guy, I’d watch him reading the phone book I think.

It is what it is. Take it and enjoy it. Most of us can't enjoy the privilege of affording a high dollar drone. We just go with what we can afford. Thanks for everything.
Just added a gopro session4 mounted under the Bugs and BAM! killer setup for my purposes.Love this drone. Its so easy to fly. also adding a wifi repeater to hopefully minimalize the video feed dropouts.

Hi Steve. I've had the B4W a week now. I ordered the one that came with 2 batteries and the nice fabric case. It is very well made for the price. It dose take longer that 4 hours to charge one battery. Not a problem though. There is one weak point on the two forward motors where they mount to the arms. They can break loose if they have a hard hit. So be aware everyone. I put a bead of epoxy all around where the motors connect to the arms. Dose not effect the flying. I got around 18 minutes of flight. Will monitor this more later. It dose fly very smooth. The controller is very responsive. It doesn't take much input. It's definitely not made for racing. It's a cruser made for filming and pictures. The camera isn't to bad. Good color. You do get the jello effect. It is stable. Because I'm in the mountains I couldn't do a distance test. Over all, it's a fun flyer. Being able to take it anywhere is a big plus. For a beginner looking to get into the hobby, I would recommend. Thanks for your review of this. I'm happy of my purchase.
Good to know. The same is true with the DJI SPARK motors. I hard landed on ice last winter and a motor came loose. Glued it back in place.

For a drone that will be mostly used for aerial filming, they should have included image stabilization.

@@ChuckRage it's great, it flys so nice and smooth, and the features like return to home etc. Work so well with no problems. The camera is nice , but can be a little bit shaky when flying in windy weather, overall it's a great drone and I reccomend buying it.
I always like MJX. I have the Bugs 2C and am still amazed at how well it flys.

I would just like to know if it is bad for a drone to fly for long periods, meaning if the battery is flat changing it with another and keep on flying, say for an hour? You can fly for as long as you have batteries. The motors and electronics don't mind flying over multiple batteries.
I picked up the drone after watching this video and I have no regrets. Flight times are awesome and quality is excellent, especially given it's price.

Soeme say store your batteries half charged, other say full charge, your opinion.
Should be no difference. If not using a battery for a month, store at half charge.

Nice drone.Yes it's larger than the DJI but it's so much cheaper.For those people that cannot afford to spend $1000 on a drone this is a great option.The video quality did not look as good as the more expensive drones that you have reviewed in the past.I don't know if the footage looks better on your end,then again you get what you pay for.It looks like a great drone for the money and one of your comments was beginner drone.I don't know if DJI is feeling a bit threatened by these other drone manufacturers because they are taking a piece of the pie.The drones are getting better and better yet DJI doesn't seem to want to lower the price,I guess they enjoy profits.
could you do a video comparing the BUGS 4W, Z11 and some higher end such as Mavix Air, tello etc. This would help people decide if they need a higher end or budget type drone and understand the trade offs.

Toy drones are getting much better. Video still isn't usuable for a lot but for fun it's a great value for kids entering the hobby!
Sean, if you look back at my videos 1 year ago from now and see what was new on the market for low cost drones, it is kind of scary (1080p didn't really exist, range was terrible, no sensors, brushless motors were much too expensive, and the controllers were very basic, etc).

Camera filters are already made for the newer DJI drones. The camera on the Bugs 4W only has 2MP so picture quality would be too poor to bother with a filter.
Actually this MJX BUGS 4 W is not only one of the best but it is the best one in every aspect built quality hard & softwares engineered and the most highlight is brushless motors equipped that MCX specified and not many other brands has this features. If you want to have a drone for your long lasting enjoyment and never disappointed somehow, CHOOSE MJX. a keen drone to be loved.

If only it had a 3 axis gimbal they would sell like hotcakes. But 2K at 20 fps is strange...

my first learning drone is a 2w bugs that I still use are excellent drones I see that they have improved camera and also optical sensors good range also and at that price point looks good 👍🏻
You are correct, i used to own and fly a Bugs 2, and the camera is a lot better on the Bugs 4.
Hi mate, another great bugs drone by MJX, this will definitely be popular.. i think its a awesome looking drone and i love the look, style and features on the controller, i do personally think MJX made a slight mistake though by not have EIS on this drone or even just a better lens to give slightly better video quality, MJX make fantastic drones that are reliable but what lets them down a little is there camera quality, i know these are not very expensive drones, but still they could add better video performance, as this video quality for 2k video or even 1080p its not that great. BUT that being said though this is still a great drone and i like it a lot, i think it will be a great drone for people who want to start getting into higher quality drones, but cant afford, yuneec, parrot or dji..

I had a blade 180qx.I was hovering it over the road in front of the house.A car was coming,and it looked like the drone was going’s to impact the windshield.I essentially panicked.Inpulled the right joystick towards my stomachThatbwas good,because it started the drone coming towards, me.Then,for some unknown reason,I jammed the left throttle the way to its stop.The 180qx took off like an Estes model rocket.As it soared over the top of the house,I cut the throttle.Fortunately,my wife found it while walking the dog that night.It was on the sidewalk,apparently unharmed.I charged the battery up,and it still flew the same.That drone'was a great flyer with a crap camera. I still recommend it for someone just learning.Thanks for the video.A question?Does the bugs have a gps database that will prevent it from flying near restricted airspace?Thang you,Captain
Great video as always and I want to love this drone but the camera quality don’t look any bettter than my bugs 2w,I know this ain’t DJI but it’s £200 in uk (with 3 batteries) and that’s a lot for a poor image drone imo.
In real life the video quality is MUCH, MUCH better.

I think it's gamble, especially when you don't know how much lifespan left in the batteries and to replace them you pay the difference in price of a new one
And that considering the drone never got dropped or received no shocks as electronic stuff is very sensitive

I see the 5W has a 30FPS camera compared to the 20FPS of the 4W. That in my opinion is a major negative for the 4W, which would otherwise have been my choice. 5W here I come!

Hey Cap'n EXCELLENT intro review as always. If MJX put in a 3 axis gimbal and improve the camera for about $50-%$100 extra...this drone WILL DEFINITELY compete with Dji, Parrot, Autel, Hubsan and Xiaomi.
I will say the price with 3 batteries is impressive. Here's my problem, I have become a spoiled rotten DJI Manchild I compare EVERYTHING to a similar DJI Drone and I know I shouldn't. It's a curse but what I have even my Spark at 1080p 30FPS is just so buttery smooth. I need to really backup and look at these amazing new lower price points and realize that 2 years ago this would not be here. The Bugs series and others are slowly catching up to the currently sleeping giant. There will be a day soon, I still want to see the FIMI Drone. I think it's the first to really crack that glass ceiling that DJI has right now. So I'll try not to wine so much and watch for a little while more, I'll say this I'm ready one or 2 great reviews of the FIMI and I will pull the trigger on it. The Typhoon H was really a bummer for me but the previous owner damaged it and the Pawn Shop didn't test it. It took me telling them what was wrong to take it back and I ended up with my Pixel Book which, I love. This was great Steve you just keep bringing better and better drones to the table, we're gonna have a real winner soon. It just has to happen.
how does it compare to F11? or MEW4?
Got this one, I like it, but my Fimi x8 se 2020 is my favorite of my hangar. The only thing I don't understand about the companies that make these drones is why they do not follow regular navigational light patterns. The Fimi does, but all my other drones are either green in front or red in front when if they followed maritime or aviation guidelines left or port would be red and right or starboard would be green. From a distance at night you can easily tell where the Fimi is and where it is going because of it.
Love this drone, just a little out of my price range though.. probably would have to go with the sjrc f11
The Bugs 4W is much cheaper than the SJRC F11 but the SJRC F11 is much better

In the dozen or more distance test videos I have watched the B4W and Eachine EX3 both are able to go 1.74 km and the JJRC X11 typically went 2.1km. In one the EX3 went almost the full 2km also. FYI!!! The EX3 is now on the way from a banggood warehouse in the US. 😁
For cost dji is away far to the best. The reallity is that us pay to much for dji and when i see other drone having extras that dji dont have is like; na dji noooo, bugs 4w yes. I think this drone will be my first drone brushless. Thanks for the review the best

Really very good drone. Thanks to your review I bought it and I still use it:)There is a small problem with battery. The flight does not last more than 12-15 minutes, but when you have two more additional batteries, everything is ok. In my opinion this is the best drone in this price range (up to $ 200.)

Lidar generates its own light and works better in low light conditions. The flow sensor is a different story but Lidar is better then sonar.
Yes, but DJI does not use LIDAR in the consumer drones. So far I think only XDynamics does and a few other high end drones
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 " Light Detection and Ranging" is what lidar stand for. All current DJI products use some form of lidar for their range finding...
Like the way it handles seems like a good drone for the price. However the camera quality is an overall let down. And the stabilization for the camera isn’t as good either. But hey it’s toy grade. Shouldn’t judge it too hard.
In real life the video quality is MUCH, MUCH better.

Excellent report as usual, I’m a MJX fan anyway, I’m just not a 5g WiFi fan, toy drones have certainly moved on in the last 18 months, MJX always seem to get the apps and firmware spot on from the word go.The next step up is the FimiA3 which I love,but I agree with you, this has got to be the best value for money ( and performing ) beginner quad for sale
bro should I fly my drone without having enough satellite? without 7 or 8 satellite, I am unable to control the drone. what do reckon?
In GPS mode I think it requires a minimum of 7 solid satellites.

I definitely like this as my first drone the 4k bugs i have done a few videos that are on my channel even did a hand catch. Lol 😂 wouldn't recommend it and that was in about 10mph winds. What I have to do now is work out how to use the settings correctly for sunny days and definitely buy myself a go pro when I have the cash. I also have a video of me trying to fly from mine to my dad's house but seagulls started dive bombing and actually hit it, it spun me round but the bugs stayed solid so I hit return to home it's on my channel lol..Thanks Cap 👍 I got this because of you. 💯

I've spent as lot of time looking at the various reviews of drones in this price range. I was enamored with the comparable Holy Stone model but the ability to charge two batteries, the movable camera and the on/off switch on the top made the MJX Bugs 4W the obvious choice for me. I just ordered online with Ebay which gave me a coupon code for 10% off, bringing the drone with 2 batteries down to $171.00 and free shipping. Now if I can just figure out the drone registration rules restrictions, I'll be excited about hitting the wild, blue yonder!

I guess the thinking on the camera is that its for FPV, not for cinematic video footage.Still a great drone in every other way.
How shall I put it? I would feel pretty silly flying this thing with a license. The video quality isn't worth a license. Might just as well get a cheap brushed one under 250 grams with slightly less video. .
And if you do get a license, then a Fimi A3 or something produces much better video I think.
In other words; In countries with a drone law, there is not really a market for toy drones well over 250 grams.
Of course you can fly it anyway 'illegally'. The overall safety is a matter of price. A DJI Mavic has all the safety features build in. So you can fly it farther away. While 200 meters is already to far for a heavy $100 drone.
I can understand the idea behind a license. They want people to take responsibility. But I am afraid the price is more important than the weight. With a $1000 Mavic you will be careful. With a $150 drone people will do stunts.
And that is why in my opinion you better buy a chap drone without GPS or altitude hold or anything and have fun in an open field if you are looking for a 'nice flyer' if that is your thing. Me personally I am looking for the best video quality for the lowest price. This Bugs 4W isn't it. It is neither meat nor fish. It falls somewhere in between a toy and a 'real' video drone. Now if it had stable video, for €200-€210 (Euro), I may buy it. But €175 with a shaky fish-eyes lens, nope, not for me. I fail to see what I can use it for. I can do 'nice flying' with my SJRC Z5 too, without needing a license.
Looks like a real tidy drone and could be so much better if the camera had a full axis gimbal to stabilize it, I feel the colours are a little saturated on the footage too. May work well as an FPV Drone but would still need better image quality at speeds in my opinion which where a gimbal would help
Cap'n, another great video review. Looks like a great and very stable over 250 gram drone - especially for the amazingly low price! Just one disappointment for me is the lack of some electronic camera stabilisation? - even if it reduced the field of view - maybe as a switchable option ? 😁😁👍👍
Dale, the drone is rather stable. For this reason I was thinking that with such a stable drone you can attached a small camera with 60FPS video for some amazing footage. My prediction is that in the for the year 2020, all low cost drones above $100 will include a 2 axis or 3 axis gimbal with 2K cameras (and some 4K). Each year it gets better and better and the prices go down for more technology.

Thought I would give an update on the B4W. I was flying yesterday. Didn't even get the second battery in. I was hovering about 20 feet away and 20 feet up. And all of the sudden it just dropped like a rock. I had no control. Broke one motor completely off. It was always a glitchy from the first flight. I'm sending it back and getting a new one. Pretty sad. I'll give it another try.
If a drone falls like a rock, the reasons are all the same:
- Motors stopped by operator (red button pressed by accident), on a DJI Drone, operator held joysticks in motor sop position in flight.
- Prop flew off
- Battery came disconnected (not properly seated)
No matter the drone, those are the reasons.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Hey Steve. Sorry a little late on your reply. Actually it did fall like a rock. But not from operator error. It was hovering with no inputs to the controller. The front right motor failed and went out of control and hit the ground hard resulting in that motor breaking off. Out of the box first flight it never did feel right. Kinda glitchy at times. I do understand your explanation. But not in this case. I have a replacement coming. I'll let you know how it goes. I do like the B4W that's why I'm getting another one.

I think the reason why the drone bumped the ground is just a bit of bad luck. As I have had this drone for a year now, and every single landing, the drone has gone really smooth, and landed carefully.
Great, great review! Between the 5w and 4w, what would you say is better? Based on your reviews, it seems like the 4w is better and the camera footage looks nicer on the 4w in my opinion despite the 20fps.

At least you have some laws that are not biased I'm angry at my country because they took my drone away because of its weight damn it realy is bad😾 and also of its performance at least at the USA i'll be able ti align myself with the rules because I know that they are not corrupt

The drone is very ok. But the camera just isnt so good to make nice video.
It is a cheap drone that's why. But the mjx bugs 5w has a better camera, isn't it?

@@andikapurba1498 I had bought the mjx bugs 5w. It's a very solid drone and won't break. But after 2 years had a DJI Inspire 1 v2.0 and sold it. Got a DJI Mini 2 and that's such a beast. Camera of that one is like 10x atleast better. Would recommend looking for eather mini 1 on very low budget or mini 2. U won't regret it.
