    The Parrot Anafi has been on-sale for $699 with 2 extra batteries and a nice bag! I have logged about 75 hours with no need for obstacle avoidance. Flight Plan is awesome!! This weekend I tried hand launch!!

    I like my Yuneec Typhoon H - the deal clincher for me was the awesome built-in monitor and the ability to retract the landing gear for true 360 filming. The 4K footage is great and so far it has flown over 40 filming missions successfully. 👍👍

    Bought a Mavic Mini 6 months ago as my entry level learning experience. Just got an Evo 1 as my upgrade. Considered the Anafi, but there were a few things I didn't care for at that price point. The big one was your own comparisons of the image quality showed the Evo to be superior.

    Gotta say Captain, I have never flown a drone. I have watched a lot of your reviews!!! I see things I like and don't like..
    The spark was on my want list. Price and size were big factors, but I'd rather have a controller, that's extra... And it's discontinued 😪 the Mavics are more than I want to spend..
    I agree with Nelson. I've been looking at the Autel EVO very closely. You have shown it's short comings, but also that it is very comparable with the Mavics.
    I like the fact that it's made in America! I also like that it doesn't require a phone to work!!
    It's my current want..
    I trust your opinion on these things!!
    Thanks for the video!

Also I would like to add, I fly drones from my boat frequently and unfortunately the Evo is one of the most challenging drones to land on a boat (if hand catching) due to its hull, prop design. The Anafi,Mavics, and phantoms are the easiest. Landing on the boat is the hardest part of flying from the water. Love your content Steve!!

      The Evo has come a long way since launch. Since only the Phantom 4 Pro is the only one that has 4K60 in the DJI prosumer level drones, the Evo is a great alternative for something more portable if you require 4K60 in your workflow as I do.

    I have acquired an Anafi, a Typhoon H (used), and an EVO. I also own a Mavic Air, a Mavic 2 Pro, and a Mavic Zoom. Of the three drones reviewed in this video, I think the EVO is the champ. It is a well-built drone ... albeit one that could benefit from a few firmware updates. The EVO handles well ... that is, it is stable and very responsive; and the camera is first-rate ... not unlike that of the Mavic 2 Pro. The Anafi comes in second, and the Typhoon H a distant third. The Anafi and the Typhoon are very different from the EVO, and I think you have to decide what it is that you want from a drone before you buy one. The attractiveness of the Anafi lies in its camera and its portability. For a drone of that size and price, the Anafi is hard to beat, and I rank it is at least equal to the Mavic Air. The EVO, the Mavic 2 Pro, and the Mavic Zoom are a distinct class of drone. Of those three, I have no qualms recommending the EVO to people whose primary interest is aerial photography/videography. With more firmware updates and support from app developers, the EVO might well grab more of the market from Mavic drones. My wife and I will be in Iceland later this year. In addition to my DSLR camera and lenses, I will carry one drone ... perhaps two. At this time, I am leaning toward the EVO (camera, battery life, and responsiveness), but the portability and the outstanding videographic/photographic capability of the Anafi might tip the scale in favor of that drone.

      Hi bruce. You are spot on. I've decided what i want is too broad for one drone to meet. So i am going down the split path. I now own a " new to me " typhhon for land based fun flying. And the 2nd drone will be primarily my sailing / travel drone and will be anafi/ pro/ evo drpending on what pricibg i can squeeze out.

      @@nelsonprivateer7128 Hello, Nelson. The retail price of the Anafi is ~$699, but you can get in on Amazon for $599. I recommend a couple of extra batteries (also on Amazon). The price is ~$120 per battery. You get about 25 minutes of flight time per battery. Also consider the Zeey Anafi carry case ($25, also on Amazon). It will accommodate the drone, two additional batteries, and a few cables. There is also a charging unit made by Tineer for Anafi batteries. It has three charging bays. You can find that on Amazon for ~$38. About the EVO ... you can find a couple of very good fly more combos on Amazon (~$1200 each). Each combo includes three batteries (close to 30 minutes of flight time per battery) and other accessories including a carry case. I recommend the hard case. The Anafi and EVO cameras are outstanding, and I think you will be pleased with either. FYI, I bought a couple of adapters that enable me to use an iPad mini , rather than my Android phone, with the controllers.

    Thank you so much, Cap'n. That was extremely well done and most thorough. As an EVO owner, I was pleased to see it win out. Your knowledge on these drones is excellent and you are a true treasure to us. I've owned my EVO since December and despite treating it really, really carefully, I had to send the controller back this week due to cracked antennae. Both had started cracking badly at the base of the antenna. That's my only issue and while Autel's customer support was right on the job sending me a prepaid shipping label to get it back and fix it (something Nelson will appreciate knowing, I'm sure), I wondered if you had experienced any antenna cracking issues with your EVO?

    As a sailor as well as a 107 pilot I hope that you look at the Splash Drone 3, 3+ and Spry+ by Swellpro which are able to land in the water. Landing on a sailboat is very difficult due to the rigging. It is much easier and safer land in the water and pick up the drone. The Spry+ even has a waterproof controller so it is my go to drone for small boat use as well.

      So I thought too. But the zoom is'nt looseless, it gets blury after zooming 1.5 times im fhd. Yes, the Resolution is the same but the sensor gets smaller if you zoom in so its definately not looseless. First I sent one back to Amazon and got a new, but it was the same. So I'm going with the typhoon H+ and maybe the dji mavic zoom.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  5 лет назад +2

      Paul. You may have your settings wrong. If you watch the launch of the ANAFI, Parrot goes into great depths to explain that it is a lossless zoom. However, if a user can add digital zoom to the lossless function to increase the zoom range (it is in the settings). My guess is you did just that. Also, cameras can not make a "blurry" image with a lossless zoom because there is no optical lens movement that would cause this. Sounds like there were other problems going on.

    A really enjoyable review and discussion to watch and I’m sure that Nelson will be happy with his choice. I felt sure he was going to choose the Anafi, I’ve had one for about five months and in that time I’ve not touched my DJI stuff. I don’t have any experience with the EVO as they’re only available in the UK as grey imports. My only concern with the EVO, as it’s primary operating frequency is 900MHz (I believe) and a possibility of compatibility issues with some of the Nav equipment onboard his boat/ship. Back in the 90’s I was a Radio Officer on the QE2 and we had some subsystems that ran close to that frequency allocation, but that was nearly thirty years ago so things may have changed.

      Hi Nelson.
      I'm a hobbyist with more money than sense (so not the brightest or richest) and too much idle time on my hands. I have over 60 drones in my hanger, from small ultrafast race machines to much larger SLR carrying hexacopters, but in the five months since receiving the Anafi as a birthday present they've pretty much become dust collectors. Maybe at a later date, and if it's on sale, the Anafi might be useful as a backup for those days when you're land-locked and want to do some discreet fun flying. Enjoy the Evo as that too is a very nice machine, just a shame it's not officially available this side of the pond.
      Regards
      Nidge.

    The typhoon is too big and I don't like the controller but my choice would be the Autel Evo I think it's the second best drone out there today for its size the number one drone is the mavic 2 zoom and DJI technology is Superior Autel technology is good but nowhere near DJI and I don't think it ever will be and thank you for another great video

    I love my parrot anafi. For sure is not as good as DJI MAVIC 2 PRO but is just £500 in UK. The range is not that good around buildings but in open field can go for 2km. Plus the max 150m height flight is annoying but then u can fly where ever of course being reasonable. Yet for the price cant complain. In the future will have mavic 2 pro and gonna keep parrot anafi.
    As usual cool review.

    Got it backwards - they’d use full width of sensor for wide angle, use inner pixels (crop) to zoom. Who knows whether they skip/discard pixels or combine them when using the full width though...but c,ar,y when zoomed, they can’t be using the whole sensor.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  5 лет назад +2

      Some stores show it as discontinued and others show it as available. My guess is with the Parrot downsizing they have cut the number of batteries manufactured so some places run dry.

      Yeah, i noticed. Its kind of weird to say 'Discontinued' instead of saying out of stock. Just made me wonder. Didn't see anything new from NAB. Seems like most drones are in the middle of a cycle. Maybe some new stuff later in the Fall....would you agree?

    Great video! My next drone will be the EVO BUUUTTT I would also like to get the typhoon H but so afraid of the flyaway situations that I heard of. I shoot real estate drone videos and I can't have the typhoon fly into the clients house. The 360 camera is such an awesome feature but I can't take the risk.

      I’ve owned a Typhoon H for almost a year, I’ve had dozens of flights and no issues or risk of fly away. Honestly I believe 95% of fly away are user error. However I do not take big risk with my drone and have a rigorous Pre flight check list.
      That being said the 360° camera is AWESOME, one of my favorite features of the drone along with the retractable landing gear. All of the flight modes are really nice as well.

    Haha and this is why I have an autel evo and a typhoon h! Also one more very key point is that both the typhoon h and the autel evo dont have flight restrictions so depending upon where he is on the water he doesn't have to worry that he may not be able to get a special shot because there is some crazy restriction (which may be rare on bodies of water) but hey you never know! @@nelsonprivateer7128 I think you are absolutely right on the mark. I would just be a little more cautious with the Typhoon H on your boat. One wrong move by the boat and it's so big it could vanish beneath the waves. I think I would pick the EVO over the Mavic and here's why, I had 2 last year and while learning to fly them both hit had and destroyed the Gimbal. The hits were not that hard. The problem is in the original design of the Pro it's just too flimsy. Now they fixed it with thew updated Mavic Pro and Zoom. I would love to have either. Just be careful if you're going to buy the original Mavic Pro because the Gimbal will break. Big Props for not buying a Phantom, I think you really chose wisely. Congrats and good luck, keep us up to date on your progress.

    If you listen when he was talking about the Evo controller after he flew the drone you can hear him say at 34:33, that he likes the controller because HE HATES IT WHEN HE HAS TO SET UP HIS PHONE TO A CONTROLLER AND IT TIMES OUT AND HE FORGETS TO SET UP SOME TIMES and with this controller he can set it up faster. To me he sounded more like he was advertising for a company than someone that doesn't know anything about drones, But what are you going to do everyone is looking for new content for their channel but other than that it was a good video Captain Drone 👍👍

    I think also Anafi is the best, if I had this couple of years ago I would have definitely considered it over mavic pro. But that’s the thing, Mavic is the legend, it’s the pioneer of all the folding base we can buy today ! Also, thing about DJI is it’s the flying experience through its software or apps which no one is near, making a hardware is easy but it’s the software that drives UX, and DJI so far nailed it.............until next disruption happen in this industry.
