Are there any features on the burano that you want to use for Eng work? That auto playback limitation is a bummer. I wish they implemented a timeline scrubber as well.
Addition of the old XDCAM 50 codec as it edits way faster vs AVC-L and on less powerful computers, which is what is usually assigned to employees in the field. Burano is a great camera for owner / ops as it scales up and down to cover all the common job types. Arri added XDCAM to the Amira after the camera had been shipping for a few years, I used that codec a lot on broadcast jobs. This is also the codec I currently use on the FX9 for news.
Very nice, I been following for a while now from Germany, one small question the ear phones?are they Bluetooth and cable.? Couldn’t quite see , I have now ordered something similar and are wondering if I might have missed something,,, thanks
How is the cell coverage in these remote areas? I've seen 10s delay on the LiveU. Is it only for playback? It looks like too much for live interaction with the studio. And yes, the lack of continuous playback on the Burano is a bummer.
Astras have too much output at lowest setting, vs the BG ambient levels. Astras shift very magenta at minimal settings. I've been using the Neewer panels for the first hit of the day at 0500, then we usually break for breakfast. After the break, the the sun is up, I use Astras or 300D based on the weather and BG.
From what I understand it was designed for owner / operators. And we all jump between sports, news, documentary, advertising, and corporate. And they are listening and responding to customers. So we will see.
3:47 I hate it when "talent" holds the mic at their damn hip (no where close to their mouth). She's either a newbie or never bothered to learn basics of her profession.
Foam windshield is enough to cut the wind. I start with a lav, then when too much wind or BG noise switch to stick or boom, depends on the talent preference and time.
Hi David, I had a thought with your setup seeing as you have the van so close by on your live shots could you power your camera or even lighting off your second van battery? Would save going through a lot of bricks. I put a 3000w inverter mostly for a coffee machine but now the producer leave a printer in the van and prints scripts and rundowns. Its interesting once you make the van even slightly usefull they make sure the van gets priority.
Been meaning to ask ...what do you use to broadcast your live signal back to the news station while you're filming
out on location?
LiveU
By the way, are you see FX3 for live play back a lot, there’s a way of playing the whole card at one time.
I don't use FX3 camera that much, it is running an older firmware. Thanks for this, I will look into updating before the next project.
i love these videos so much, thank you
Thanks

@@CrankyCameramanI would love an mp4 codec in my fx6. Some of my clients prefer it but I have to take home and transcode.
@@CrankyCameraman Are you refering to XDCAM HD422? This is and old (but industry standard) MPEG-2 based codec.
@@SportFlow Yes
Love the content with your son. Hard not to have bit of FOMO for him when he's not there sometimes!
Wow, I staying local the next few months. To old for those 13 hour days.

Wearing two headsets, bluetooth to my phone to call the control room or listen to the return. Then in ear wired to camera to monitor the mic.

Terrible, they usually have a sat truck. We had a starlink but didn't use it.
Hey David I'm curious, why did you swap the Astras for the Neewer in the evening shots? light levels, power consumption?

Have you thought about using a silent Honda generator to power the AC, lights, camera, liveU, fan...?
Running cables is more hassle vs a brick on each item.
Did you cover the solar eclipse?
I worked that day, different story, but we did shoot the eclipse as well.
the fx9 is more designed for broadcast than the burano.

I need to start making these VLOG's.
It’s free therapy

I just thought the same!
wondering, how he managed to fix the wind noise because she's facing the mic capsule directly into the wind while only using the foam cover?
Foam windshield is enough to cut the wind. I start with a lav, then when too much wind or BG noise switch to stick or boom, depends on the talent preference and time.
@@CrankyCameraman thanks for answering. great that i worked out! Cheers

I can but it’s more time and effort running stingers to all the items. Bricks are faster.
