Saw the same thing the other day. My ultra hdmi I ordered off of Amazon and it unlocked so much. Hdmi-arc sounds fucking amazing. And you can definitely tell the graphics are better as well
I think it's simply impossible to do 120hz and HDR at the same time on XB1X because you are forced to "allow 4k" for HDR to work and this means it goes to 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. If you don't allow 4k, it goes to 4:2:2 which is not the standard for HDR and that's why HDR doesn't work. Not a bandwidth issue. Your monitor should be capable of 1440p, HDR, 120hz, Freesync all at once I think, but because the Xbox forces HDR at 4:2:2 you can't have a lower resolution like 1440p. Hopefully, the Series X will not have this problem and we can do 120hz and HDR together through HDMI
@@goldiedan5567 Xbox One X should be able to do 4K HDR it has to be your TV. Bring up your Tv menu while your on your HDMI that your Xbox is connected to. You don't need hdmi 2.1 since the console only does 1440p at 120hz. Or 4k 60hz. The cable that comes with the series s is only hdmi 2.0 anyway. Ultra high speed is hdmi 2.1
I have HDR 4K 120hz on my Hisense Tv with my Xbox Series X. On your TV is where you get the problem. You need to goto your HDMI setting on your tv. You need to find the enhanced option. Once that is on your in business.
So I’m thinking of getting a 1080p hdr 144hz monitor for my series s, and I heard somewhere that for 1080p 120hz you only need hdmi 2.0 and 2.1 is only if you want 4K 120hz. Another problem I have with the series s is that you can’t go 1080p HDR 120hz you have to do 4K to get hdr which I would not be able to do 4K with the 120hz. But it allows 4K hdr 60.
have you tried doing custom resolution @1080p, then go back and check "allow 4K"? i don't know if this works, but that's a similar workflow to let's say a roku ultra if it works. roku by default only allows hdr with 4k unless you go a bit deeper in the settings. i was just wondering if it's similar (i have yet to get a new 4k hdr capable tv and try this)..
@@djejpro thanks for the recommendation, I’ll definitely try that and most likely get the monitor either way, just because I think losing the HDR for the small amount of games that will have 120fps is worth it.
Thanks this might sound like a stupid question but how did you bring up the screen showing what your monitor is displaying when you showed its performing at 120fps ? 🤔
For the Series S a game will usually internally render at a lower resolution such as 1440p or 1080p and then upscale the image before sending it to your TV at 4K @ 120 10bits per color channel rgb. But generally the game has to handle the frame pacing properly. An example of this being done correctly is Gears 5. An example of it done incorrectly is Halo Infinite. Halo infinite breaks VRR and also renders internally at such a low resolution that it looks pretty bad at 120fps. But the series S handles Infinite at 4k@60 HDR + VRR very well. Gears 5 is the other side of the coin. It looks so very good and performs so well on the Series S. I questioned my decision to get a Series S until I saw how good it looks. No regrets and I’ll probably use the money on Gamepass for the next year or two.
Doesn’t work for me my monitor is 240hz but it’s not showing up and is saying my monitor doesn’t support 120hz even though I play Cold War on my ps5 at 120 🤔

You do NOT need a 2.1 HDMI cable to get 120 hz!! 1440p, 120hz on the Series S comes with a 2.0 HDMI. 2.0 can only go to 1440p 120+ hz and 2.1 is for 4K 120+ hz. This guy is upscaling his Series S to 4K! Upscaling basically means it’s NOT TRUE 4K. The Series S is NOT NATIVE 4K!!! The Series S is only NATIVE 1440p!! Upscaling is trash 🗑 do your research!!

Yes the Series S will upscale to 4k 120. In Xbox settings make sure allow 4K is checked. Also on my LG I leave Allow VRR unchecked in 120hz because of some screen flicker.

I bought the Acer Predator XB273K because it says it can run 4K and 120hz but once I set everything up it dosent give me the option to use 4K and 120hz, it won’t even let me use 1440p, I have a ultra high speed 2.1 hdmi cord, and when I have the option to use 4K UHD the refresh rate option isn’t there. I know my monitor and Xbox can support 4K and 120hz but still can’t get it to support it for some reason, can anyone help?
Does the monitor have a hdmi 2.1 port because if not you can't run it at 4k 120 but you could try 1440p 120
Wat hdmi port do i put my hdmi cable in 1 2 3 mine is in 3
Series S came with a High speed hdmi cable, only the ps5/X have the "ultra high speed hdmi cable", so out of the box series S doesnt have hdmi 2.1

@@JPD7000 check the box and compare

So... Does the xbox series s run at 4k 120hz? As mine says I need a faster cable? Where can I find one
buy a hdmi 2.1 cable from a shop u have hdmi2.0 buy the hdmi 2.1 !
No, the series s can only achieve up to 1440p@120. It can upscale to 4K but it wouldn’t be native, and you most likely would only be able to get 60hz at the point. And the cable that you need should’ve came with the console 🤔
@@Speedy.2ss mine says high speed cable Not ULTA high speed so I know I need a faster cable
@@kivdude buy on amazon
@@kivdude if you have the series s, the hdmi 2.1 cable isn’t needed at all since it’s only useful for 4K@120hz which the series s can’t handle. The hdmi 2.0 cable is the best for the series s. Which console do you have?
I have monitor 2k support up to 165hz so if i buy hdmi 2.1 can i play native 4k with 165hz?
No, series x only supports up to 120
Thats because you dont have vrr on your tv
why did you say 4k 120hz for the x, but only 1440 120hz for the s?
The S doesn’t support 4k but the X does
@@Remdogg ummm yes it does
Amazon get an HDMI 2.3 cable trust me but your TV has to support it
So the hdmi cable that comes with the series s is capable of 120 FPS?
Yes only 1080p if you want 1440 120 you need get the cable 2.1 or 4K 120
@@Pica-79usa u don't need 2.1 cable for 1440p 120hz u need hdmi2.0
It may be a alot to ask but Can you check this monitor out and tell me if it will be able to run 120 FPS?Acer Nitro VG240Y (Its 144hz 1080p
Check if it is hdmi 2.q
I meant 2.1
What controller hanger is that?
I have a Samsung q80t that support HDMI 2.1 120ghz does the Xbox series s support 4K 120 GHz
Nope. 1440@120 or 1440 upscaled to 4k@60
Yes the Series S will upscale to 4k 120. In Xbox settings make sure allow 4K is checked. Also on my LG I leave Allow VRR unchecked in 120hz because of some screen flicker.
Is a LG cx65 good for gaming?
Oh lol we have the same tv
Wil I notice any deffernce between xbox series s and xbox series x if I play on 60fps
Yes , the series X graphics are better...noticeably
Is the series s running on 120fps on cod?
According to digital foundry, yes the series s can hit 1080/120, if you manually select the performance graphics option in settings. Just make sure you are on a compatible monitor/tv
Boys and Girls dont forgot us Females game too 🙄
