  • In todays video i want to talk about that just becuase you cant afford a HDMI 2.1 tv to enable 120fps and Amd Freesync on the Xbox one x, s and PS5. Doesn't mean you cannot enjoy these features as long as your happy to drop resolution you can run at up to 1080p 120hz on hdmi 1.4 and 120hz at 1440p on hdmi 2.0
    No option for 120hz on your monitor or TV check out this video:

    Yeah far too many seem not to understand that higher frame rates beyond the “console standard” of 30/60FPS make MUCH more of a positive impact on user experience vs. how pretty the static image is. What the gameplay looks like “in motion” and how quickly everything responds to users inputs @120HZ vs 60HZ is something that has too be experienced to fully appreciate.

This should as long as your monitor supports it allow 120hz but you will not be able to apply freesync. But it if I had a choice of 60fps with freesync Vs 120fps without freesync I would pick the 120hz.

    It’s best to enjoy it on what you have. Chasing buzzwords is a waste of money. I remember when HD was plastered over everything and then you learn there were different HD tv’s, 1080i, 1080p, 720p😑😑😑

    Also, don't get an ips panel if u do very competitive fps games. Even the high end ips panels will NOT give u a 1 ms response. If they say they do, you will have to use an overdrive setting on the monitor. WHEN DOING THIS IT WILL CAUSE SEVERE INVERSE GHOSTING ON ALL IPS MONITORS. EVEN THE HIGH END ONES TRUST ME, IVE GONE THROUGH 3 DIFFERENT IPS PANEL MONITORS AND THEY ALL DO THE SAME. IF YOU WANT TRUE 1MS YOU NEED TO GET A TN PANEL MONITOR. You can still find 120hz 1440p TN panels they are just kind of rare.

    Are you aware that Apex Legends renders at 60FPS maximum, on consoles. Even with all the bells and whistles Apex is capped @60fps.
    So said the devs, when asked about new-gen version of the game. Still remains 60fps, no matter the resolution.

    What about Microsoft Flight Simulator? They recently reported that to run at 30fps you must have 2.1. But they haven't informed what happens if you don't have it.

    Dude get you facts straight I currently use gofanco adapter hdmi to displayport in order to get the benefit of 120hz 1080p on my monitor and it works great with no input lag.

    • @thefullsetup
      @thefullsetup  3 года назад +2

      Aghh I was talking about non active adapters. It was actually a big reason why I had to get my 240hz panel. My 144hz I had before I was fine with but it would only do 144 on DVI and those active adapter where far to expensive so it was a better deal to sell my monitor and buy a new panel. Also you won't be able to get freesync working with that adaptor so what I am talking about is still a valid point as this video is about freesync and 120hz not just 120 😁

  • @warcrabcyber9908
    @warcrabcyber9908 3 года назад +1

    You don't need hdmi 2.1 , hdmi 2.1 is for if you want to push 4k 120fps, these consoles are struggling to do 4k 60.
    I recently purchased a samsung q60r 55 inch tv and it does 1080p , 1440p 120hz with freesync, it does 4k 60fps with freesync.
    For me it's good enough , the lg nano 85 is the cheapest hdmi 2.1 tv at the moment , but It suffers from ips glow and some other issues.

    • @ThaHerbanLegend
      @ThaHerbanLegend 3 года назад +1

      You don’t “need” it just like you don’t “need” any of these other advanced features to game. However buying a console with it’s main selling point being 4K/120 hz and not buying a tv/monitor capable of taking advantage of every benefit is a waste. The series X is doing 4K 100-120 FPS On War Zone. My LG C9 handles it perfectly with no VRR issues. The difference between 1440 120 and 4K/120 is night and day .

      @@ThaHerbanLegend I 100% agree with this statement. It’s not a secret that the console can be played at 1440p at 120hz on a monitor .... but this video literally defeats the purpose of the upgrade to the console lol. The point is to be able to utilize it’s latest features which is 4k120 ... heck I can do 120hz on my one x at 1440p if that’s the res I plan to play on. Which is why 2.1 HDMI is still a valid must have in order to use the xbox full capabilities.

    You can also run 1440p on a 4K TV that has good 4K upscaling like Sony’s X1 chip to get benefits of both and have HDR support.

    Not saying your wrong about the Converters but it's a weird topic...
    I bought a Asus vg248qe last year as I got it for a deal even tho it's a little older... However it only uses 144hz thru Dvi-d / Display port!
    I bought a Hdmi to Dvi-d lead off Amazon & have had 120hz on my xbox one s for almost a year now... Yes, I know it's not actually 120hz on Xbox one s but it helps with button delay etc hence why I use it 🤣 Could be worth a try on the series s & x as well so I'll let you know in a few weeks.
