I feel like you need to do a separate video for majority of people still using a TV that only has HDMI 2.0. It was confusing how you kept switching between the two. From what I gathered using a LGC7 I should disable YCC 422 as it will drop my colour depth to 8bit as I'm stuck at 60 hz refresh rate but if we go back to your Xbox One X settings you recommend enabling YCC 422. I'm so confused
I have last years q85r with one connect and marantz nr1508 receiver and both with my new Xbox series X and Xbox one x, when viewing a blu ray or using the sky app the picture quality is over bright and more importantly the sound is delayed, and adjusting the delay only makes it further out...this is with the hdmi direct to one connect and to my Amp 🤷🏻♂️
I would also like maybe a short video on this maybe just explaining hey use the same settings on the Xbox one x on the series x or whatever. (Older 4K tv 60hz with 8bit frc to 10 or whatever that nonsense is)
10 bit setting triggers hdr on my TV. Since I have different settings for sdr and hdr I'd leave it 8 bit since it will switch automatically to 10 or 12 bit accordingly depending on the source. PS. Thank you for the guide though, really helpful
I upgraded from a 60inch 1080p tv to a 4k 120hz LG monitor about 2 months ago and for some reason the picture quality looked worse. I only just realized the other day it’s because I was rendering in 12 bit with YCC 422 enabled. Once I turned it back to 8bit 444 my games look infinitely better now.
Important caveat for those also using their XSX as a streaming box for Netflix, Prime, etc. If you have VRR and ALLM selected in the settings, the XSX forces all content, including video streaming apps, into ALLM/IGR (not just games). When VRR is off and only ALLM is selected, IGR works correctly and only engages during gaming content.
Thanks for the heads up. I’ve noticed the BT Sport app works correctly but no others do, even the dashboard forces to IGR. Wonder if this can be patched?
1-Can you explain better why if you disable "allow 4k" you will automatically lose HDR10? It's correlated to the bandwidth downgrade? 2-have you noticed the gamma issue problem with vrr ? 3-wouldn't be better DISABLING VRR AT ALL? The majority of games on consoles have locked fps at 30 or 60, there is no need of a variable refresh rate technology at all, in fact i think that disabling it would benefit a better fluidity by remaining at 120 hz, the tv would repeat frames to match the frequency as it has always been on any console with any tv! 4- thanks for your work! You're the most reliable and knowledgeable person for tvs on RUclips 🔥🔥👍🏻👍🏻
I can't help but wonder if the "Allow 4:2:2" option would have perhaps allowed the LG to display *something* at a 12/36-bit color depth. (Instead of dropping all the way down to 4:2:0, and failing to display anything.) Probably not, but I was a little disappointed that Vincent didn't mention whether he had tried that.
The LG TVs have a bug that calls 4:2:2 content as 8-bit even if they are 10-bit or 12-bit. They are true 10-bit and 12-bit but the FreeSync Info secret menu has a bug.
Thank you very much Vincent! Really appreciate this video. Would be very grateful as well if you could do a PS5 version and settings for the LG C9 / CX. Keep up the wonderful work!
The CO is the only display that can use all new features. The fact that sony picked forum VRR is going to be a major issue with HDR. Better off waiting two or three years until devs get familiar with the new consoles while much better displays like micro led and quantum dot oled are out. from my understanding neither essentially LCD displays with an old display in front to increase the brightness of OLED while maintaining the deep blacks. If your going to buy anything at the moment I would get a good gaming monitor as they have been building up to this for years, which is why gsynch ultra or premium is only available on the x box series x for that reason. HDR and VRR is it going to be a nightmare for the PS5. Long video but very technical details of why HDMI 2.1 does not matter at all right now. ruclips.net/video/uDKU8E9rJOc/видео.html

Awesome video thanks for the tips! Now I wish you would do a video on recommended in game display settings for Ubisoft games because I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to be looking at on my C9
All games and applications internally render in full range RGB. The conversion to limited range Standard on the Xbox would be an additional degrading step at the end. The C9 / CX with PC icon supports end-to-end full range RGB / Black Level High without internal YUV conversion. When the Xbox is capable of perpetually running in 10-bit full range RGB mode for both HDR and SDR, I don't understand why you recommend limited range Standard over full-range RGB in the C9 / CX video. If that video was not targeted towards C9 / CX owners, I'd agree.
I think it's obvious. Limited works with all video content like bluray, so you don't need to switch the settings on console when you want to watch a movie. For games it doesn't really matter, they will look the same.
@@rafamuniak You don't need to switch. The player expands limited range videos to full range correctly. If you use limited, the same thing just happens on the TV instead, since virtually all LCD and OLED panels are natively RGB.

Eg: in the HDR Calibration app Auto was Low, which was correct, However in Forza Horizon 5 and in Bioshock (auto HDR) Auto was High which was visibly washed out. I set it to low instead. In SDR I think Auto was also incorrectly choosing High as well.

From what I gathered using a LGC7 I should disable YCC 422 as it will drop my colour depth to 8bit as I'm stuck at 60 hz refresh rate but if we go back to your Xbox One X settings you recommend enabling YCC 422. I'm so confused
Yeah 90% of the people playing these are on hdmi 2.0 TV. I have the q8fn and it runs 1440p 120hz.
@@SpectreMK23 so with my oled with 2.1 I should be using 10 bit? But on my 1440 p monitor I should use 8?
With XsX for hdmi 2.0 TVs nothing has changed. With 60Hz enabled it works the same like it did on one x
I would also like maybe a short video on this maybe just explaining hey use the same settings on the Xbox one x on the series x or whatever. (Older 4K tv 60hz with 8bit frc to 10 or whatever that nonsense is)
Thanks for showing me how to switch to a 10bit pipe. You the man.
10 bit setting triggers hdr on my TV. Since I have different settings for sdr and hdr I'd leave it 8 bit since it will switch automatically to 10 or 12 bit accordingly depending on the source. PS. Thank you for the guide though, really helpful
For all the people asking about a PS5 version of this, the console is out on the 19th in the UK and Sony didn't send Vincent one :/
I showed this video to my friend who asked about getting the most out of his LG, it makes a night and day difference on some games and movies.
Wow! I am incredibly grateful for the explanations coupled with the demonstrations. Absolutely fantastic! I had to subscribe! :)
Vincent: you gonna learn today!
This is how you make a INFORMATIONAL video great job bro sensational job on explaining the whole experience step by step
This man's bit depth explanation is amazing
I hate that too. If you know what I mean.
I asked some of these questions in the comments of the last series x settings video. Thank you sir.
Please do these 2 videos for the ps5 with the CX when you can. Thanks!
Thanks for the info. We don't recommmend using the streaming apps on the Xbox... use the ones on the TV instead for a better experience.
@@hdtvtest but apps on consoles tend to be better supported with updates over time than on most Smart TV platforms.

@@lightemup1023 our PS5 still doesn’t have VRR. Im hearing from people that know some other people in high places say, “Don’t expect VRR on PS5 for a while”, but it is being worked on. That Media Tek chip is really hurting the progress

Please make video of optimum settings for x90H. Many of us have all bought this or the cx.
AGREED!
This is the best channel on earth for TV's and monitors. Learning a lot.
Very informative, thanks! I have the One X and the settings are pretty much the same. The only thing I'm doing differently is the color space: I'm using PC RGB instead of Standard because I'm using a computer monitor and not a TV. I tried both modes for a while and PC RGB looks undoubtedly better on my screen.
Same, if I’m gaming on a Monitor, then I use the PC RGB, however if I use lets say the living room TV, a Vizio, I keep it standard.
Please record a video for the PS5 and the LG CX settings. It would be much appreciated.
I'm eagerly waiting for a video on PS5 too
Once it releases in the UK I'm sure he'll be right on it.
A very useful video. They way you explain all the video options is Epic. Keep up the great work! 👍
Vincent, what would you prefer now (July 2023) for gaming on the Series X: Dolby Vision or HDR10 (LG C1 btw). Thanks!
came for the basic content, ended up learning a lot about how new tech works, love it. Thank you for going to such length of explanation got urself a sub.
if i may ask, how can i know if my monitor is RGB full or limited ? i cant seem to find that information. I got a new monitor if anyone could help. Samsung UR55 4k freesync HDR10 monitor
"To demonstrate this, what I'm going to use is some quality hentai"
That's what I thought he was going to do 😂
I had YCC 4:2:2 off and I disabled auto HDR. Thanks for the video as always ❤️
Would love to hear your updated thoughts for the C1 now that it's got major firmware updates. Thanks!
It’s very similar or almost the same as the c9/X
Could you please tell me the absolute difference in HDMI PC Mode vs Console Mode input lag? (If there is) I'm using PC Mode due to your recommendation regarding 4:4:4, but I'm afraid I'm losing input lag. In FPS games like COD every ms of input lag makes an huge.. difference in your advantage during gameplay. (Obviously I'm using game optimizer mode in both cases)
No idea how this come into my timeline but found this very informative. Thanks
Thanks! Your information has made me decide to not jump the gun on a new tv. I have a 55” LG B7 and I’m just going to wait til the new year to see what comes out. It’s only 2 months away, I can do it lol.
Awesome video thanks for the tips! Now I wish you would do a video on recommended in game display settings for Ubisoft games because I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to be looking at on my C9
8:50 lol, not sure if that was supposed to be a joke but you got me good
All games and applications internally render in full range RGB.
HDR on Xbox is always limited
I was wondering about this too.
@@vadimkrylov On HDMI 2.0.

Great video thanks Vincent. On an older LG OLED65B7V I’m assuming it has HDMI 2.0 so it should be better to run at 4K60 with 10 bit colour and YCC 4:2:2 enabled?
fully laughed out loud over the coronavirus joke, thanks again vincent for these informative videos regarding next gen consoles and TV settings!
Not only was this incredibly informative, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone use Hentai Censorship as a pixilation example in a tech video. That was great!
Hey man, I just wanted to say thank you for these videos. The mix of intelligent content with a little bit of sass on the side..A+ amigo
awesome video. What would you recommend for someone with a C7/B7 or type of TV for settings?
Love your vids, I'm trying these tips on my CX today!
You should do a comparison of the series x with an LG CX vs. a high end gaming monitor!
Wouldn't it be nice if your xbox recognized what TV you were using automatically and set the settings according to your tv's capability.
It was a pleasure watching Urotsukidoji the perfect collection on my JZ2000 💕
Thank for for this informative video.
I would highly recommend you to switch on auto HDR to be honest. I've tried it with several games and it looks great. Some games with white text make the text really bright, but the image itself looks stunning. Halo 5 and SoulCalibur VI are great examples of Xbox One games, Lego Star Wars TCS and Sonic Generations are great examples of 360 games, and Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Fuzion Frenzy are great original Xbox examples. These are the ones I've tested to be great. Some have only looked better but not fantastic, but none of them looked worse in my opinion.
Thank you for your interesting videos and tips how to optimize our TVs!

I have a question. I have the LG c1 55 inch oled.
And I can choose the 12 bit option on the xbox series x should I run it on this, or keep it on 10bit.
I have de same question. Did you find out?
@@cristianoguimaraesbr unfortunately I didn't get a reply. Still confused 😕
FYI on the C9 I found that I had to set the Black Level to Low instead of Auto when using PC mode. Eg: in the HDR Calibration app Auto was Low, which was correct, However in Forza Horizon 5 and in Bioshock (auto HDR) Auto was High which was visibly washed out. I set it to low instead. In SDR I think Auto was also incorrectly choosing High as well.
How do you change the black level for your Xbox? I've heard of you being able to do it, but I've looked all through the video settings on my Xbox and didn't see a setting for it, nor in this video.
@@Etrius_Fysik on Xbox PC RGB is 0-255 and standard is 16-235

@@apexsosapex1014 I always heard people say "change the black level on your Xbox" so I kept looking for a setting called "black level", I didn't know they were just refering to the color space setting. Lol
nice analysis of console options, required bandwidth etc.
Both the CX and the XBOX Series X had software updates in November and these issues were fixed. I have been running my CX65 at 4K, 120Hz, VRR, HDR, 12-bit, PC RGB with no issues whatsoever. The only broken feature is the AMD FreeSync Premium function on the TV. When enabled, the TV display is darker and Dolby Vision is disabled per the info in your video. Disable this feature and all is good 👍🏻 Having to switch modes when gaming with VRR vs. watching a movie that has Dolby Vision is a pain.
Does that mean I can do the same on my c1 48"
Fake, 12 bits, 120, 4k and Full rgb needs 48gb, over 40gb/s from Xbox and LG cx HDMI Port. By bandwich screen calculator.
Can’t there just be “Best Possible Options for Your TV/Sound System” button? It would scan what you are using, and the environment lighting and acoustics around it.
That would require all t.v remote codes from all around the world. 1 terabyte wouldnt be enough for that info storage.
Damn, i have woundered about these Settings since the ps3.... Tnx.

Hello, Thank you for your tuto videos. I have a question, you are suggesting 8 bit or 10 bit depth color., I wondering, does dolby vision still work with 8 bit or 10 bit ? I though for Dolby vision we need 12 bit color. Thank you in advance.
