For a 1080p monitor, this console is just perfect. I've had mine for a year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only thing that sucks is the limited storage space and overpriced external hard drives for this thing. They should really work toward getting more manufacturers involved to make storage solutions for this thing at better prices.
@@CamTheMan8the white series s has discount many times. So the difference between the non discounted price is 50 euros or dollars but the series s in black Friday would reach 200 dollars again.
I have 1080p 120hz screen, will upgrade to Series X. Even though it is only 1080p the Series X will make the games look 4x better than series s and run much better. FckSS
@@craigmackssj3680 of course iti is. It is better than ps4 pro and Xbox One X. But then Series X has better graphics and fps than ALL the consoles, including PS5. But PS5 is better than Series S, you know Series X is better than PS5.
@@MinimalisTechhaha I miss those times with my boys they were such good babies sleeping at night also!!!! Now there big and lil terrors lol soooooo hyper only sit still to eat 😅
I have a Series X for me, my 10 year old son has a Series S and so does my daughter. I grabbed her one last Christmas for $200 with a Target deal. Having Gamepass has been a huge help for me as my kids can download so many games to try and play. We like to do alot of stuff and be out and about but when we have a chill day in the AC we can party up and have alot of fun together. The Series S is just awesome
Being a parent myself I totally agree. I just picked up the Series S 1tb and it brought that love back to gaming with the simple point of being able to save a game, put my kids down and start right off where I left in a second or 2. That and every gaming dad needs to be able to take it (easily) somewhere else when the kiddos take over the living room
As someone who doesn't particularly care about hardware specs, I quite like my Xbox Series S, and bristle when others deride it. It plays video games, and loads them faster than the Xbox One S did. That's really all I need. Video game graphics have been SPECTACULAR since the Xbox 360, and 1080p is more than good enough for me. Keep in mind that I grew up with the Atari 2600 and NES... in comparison to those, the budget priced Xbox Series S is a juggernaut.
There's really not a meaningful difference in 95% of games between the S and PS5/Series X. For starters you really need like a crazy setup with expensive big screen OLEDs with 2.1 HDMI to actually even see those differences in any meaningful way.
@@gamble777888 I do not agree with you. The differences are real, most games are across generations. The Series S may be better than the regular PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it is weaker than the Xbox One x It does not support ray tracing at all, and in the end it will run heavy games on 900p or 720p with thirty frames. Competitive gaming is not a standard. It is a bad deal. Frankly, they not only took half of the storage, but they took most of the features of the new generation.
I was thinking like you when I owned the Xbox One S. I was coming from the PlayStation 2 and played a little on the Sony 3, but after I owned an average PC, I could not go back to 30 frames or to 900p
@@gamble777888 There are quality performance tests on RUclips where you can see what real quality comes out of the consoles Assassin's Creed Valhalla, for example, did not support 60 frames on the Series S until after an update that clearly reduced the quality. This is a past generation game, and for many games, 30 frames have become the standard again Consoles are supposed to last for 7 to 9 years. Do you think the Series S will be acceptable? When more modern games are released, we will see pixels start to appear.
I literally bought series s last month by your advice yes the machine is so good, i've been playing phantom liberty and motorsport, both on quality mode on my 32 inches monitor and man the graphics still hold up very, very well. Maybe not so good in 60fps modes but 30 fps and native 1440p is all i want. Well done xbox!
@@Crashed131963for the same price you won’t get a pc this good unless you spend the price of a used car on Facebook. I’m being dead serious. AND we have raytracing?! Yeah. This is for sure a great deal. I don’t deserve something this premium.
@@manuelrodriguez9972 In fact, the value for money is not in the Series S, but in the Series X, the storage space is 1 TB The graphics processor is three times more powerful And a disc reader and 6 GB of RAM, all of this for $200. Microsoft is stealing. I will pay $200 or even $300 for these specifications. What is the benefit of a device that I am sure will run all new generation games, but at 720p with 60 frames or 1440p with 30 frames at best, not to mention Ray tracing is not supported at all
Amazing how Microsoft created a console specific for dads on a budget 😂😂 my story is the same as yours. Series s put me back on gaming. I dont need pathtracing at 120fps, i just need to have a good time after a long day of work and kids👌🏾
One thing I can say after owning it for 3 years now: very great machine for being the smallest console ever, VERY portable, Great low budget price, and if you have pair this console with a nice looking 1440p gaming monitor in your setup, you pretty much have your own ultimate gaming setup which i have and I absolutely love it! I got the 2TB Seagate expansion SSD as well and it’s amazing!
I have a Series X in my game room upstairs and picked up a Series S for the downstairs TV so I could play closer to the family and pups when we all have down time. I probably spend more time on the S than X because of that, and while I can see the differences in power, for $299 it's such a good deal for casual gaming. I think the people that get overly dramatic about it being underpowered aren't quite in touch with what most casual gamers (or those with family lives) are looking for.
Since u have both series s and x , do u really see any difference? I recently upgraded m bedroom tv in to 50 inch 4k qled, and now I am thinking about getting the x. I also game on m pc and steam deck that’s why I am not sure if I should pull the trigger and get an x as well or save this 400€ for something else.
@@Narkissos_1 I can see a difference, but honestly if you'd rather save the money and graphics performance is all you're worried about, you'd be fine with the Series S. My only big complaint is the smaller storage space and every frickin game being at or over 100GB lately. That being said, if you've got a good Internet connection and Game Pass, just download whatever you're playing at the moment and stream any games you're just casually hopping in to. You can always buy storage later but you may be close to the current Series X sales price once you add in that expensive storage.
I have a series s on m bedroom already and it looks fine tbh , after all I pull the trigger and bought the x for the bigger storage since the forza 5 premium version is priced very well this Xmas for 449 with taxes. I will gift m series s to m cousins and I will try to to add them to m family sharing so they will have game pass ultimate for life. It will be their first console since they are 4 and 6. So from now on I will just gift em a digital code for a fifa or something xd. @@DaBigCheeso
@@DaBigCheesototally agree with this, main question is how much games you would play at the sane time. If you are the only one playing you probably can handle this, if you are not the only one playing go with the x, just for the space, also if you would use the console for bluray or if you use big 4k TVs. If you do not spend too much time playing and you have a good internet connection, go with the SS
Xbox Series S with Gamepass got me back into gaming after a long break too. I got it shortly after the latest console generation launched, and even though I have a PS5 now, I probably find myself playing my Series S the most still because the PS5 is huge and has to live in my office. I love the form factor, the fact I can play Xbox games from all generations, and the way it fits so nicely in my home entertainment system. My girlfriend and I have found so many couch co-op and multiplayer games to enjoy together too that’s honestly elevated it to another level for me! It Takes Two is a game we’ve played through twice beginning to end. And Diablo 3, Overcooked and Lego Star Wars have all been awesome as well. And when she’s in bed or out somewhere, I just fire up Halo at the drop of a hat with quick resume, and I feel like I did playing Halo 3 as a kid all over again! Honestly, can’t recommend this system enough
Being someone who has yet to upgrade to 4k. This console is perfect for me! The games look much better than on my OG xb1, and run better. Perfect for if you want to play the newer games but don’t care as much about the 4k visuals! Extremely portable too, this thing is small as hell and makes barely any noise!
@@Thevamp1rekingi have series s and ps5, i played the marvel s guardian of the galaxy in both systems for the first missions ( ps5 ray tracing on) : there was no difference in the same 4k 60 fps 50 inches smart tv. 🤔 i mean i didn't find something on the ray tracing on the specific game to say " oh the ps5 changes the experience because it provides ray tracing.
@@majorasspain5341 when you choose " ray tracing" on a game you don't have 4k 60 fps on the ps5 you have 1080 pixels 60 fps with ray tracing or 4k 60 fps ( if it's optimised ) so i want to state if you play both consoles in a smart tv you won't see a difference. A smart tv can upscale a 1080 pixels to a 4k . A monitor might can not do it.
a $200 dollar difference "brought you back" to gaming...jesus christ. You people are acting like the S is $20 and the X is $1000. Get a grip for real. You and everyone else has much more things to be worrying about if $200 is going to bankrupt you, and if so you shouldn't be playing video games at all.
@@curtharakaly4620People can have more than one hobby, 200$ may not bankrupt some people but it could definitely be spent elsewhere. Plus it’s affordable and good entry level for those getting into gaming and or coming back. Besides even with a PC, Xbox X or a PS5 you still would have to invest in a monitor/TV that supports 4k/120hz and so on.
They really need to discontinue the white series S or at least heavily discount it. The 512gb storage is just too little. The carbon black version is where its at with the 1TB storage.
Depends on your use case. For me, I end up playing more last gen and 360 gen games and with a fast uncapped internet connection it's really no hassle to uninstall/download games. I don't need more than 5-8 games installed at one time and the S is able to do that.
@@gamble777888Not really. It’s 50 bucks with double the storage. There is no argument for the standard S anymore, carbon black covers your usage and anyone else’s as well
@@wyo_garage20 I actually tend to disagree…that $50 is actually a lot (especially if you aren’t coming from xbox). If you need to buy games and xbox live it all adds up and us dads don’t have as much time or resources to gather all that extra money just for a hobby. Odds are if you are a new dad you will only be playing 1-3 games at a time anyway and trust me, in today’s economy, every dollar counts. I do think they need to make a cheaper option for extending the storage on these though.
I have a Gaming PC with a Ryzen 5 5500 and RTX 2060 super, not a high-end rig but certainly no slouch either. However, I recently got a series S and I play most of the time on it now. I work a full-time IT job and got married earlier this year and gaming was pretty much nonexistent. Not even so much for lack of time but with working at a desk all day and constantly troubleshooting tech it isn't something I enjoy doing in my free time anymore and gaming on PC requires more effort than I am willing to put in after all my responsibilities are taken care of. But I just hold the little button in the middle of my controller and click on the game I want and I'm playing. Games load fast and I can play a few matches while I am waiting for the laundry to need rotated or dinner to be done in the oven. It seriously is a quality, cheap, and simple gaming box. Not hoping to have kids any time soon but when I do, I can't imagine playing on anything else.
Quick Resume is a game changer for me - I can instantly jump from my kids’ Paw Patrol game back into what I’m doing in an instant. I sort of miss gaming on my PC, but the simplicity is huge with the current gen stuff from both Microsoft and Sony.
This is super inspiring because it feels like when you become a parent, you stop doing what you love. Like you lose a part of you. I commend dads like you. You made it work for you and didn't accept that fun wasn't over for you. I might get one of these down the line or an X because of the physical games i still have
Cant agree more, though in my country there was a crazy price bump for the series S as of recently that almost makes thr XSX the more enticing proposition, since the prices are ever so close. Up until then I could reccomend the XSS with my eyes closed to anyone looking into building a digital library spanning over 20 years of games with good upscaling (if you use a 1080p display), framerates and wide compatibility with peripherals/IO. Plus, if you're the tinkerer type, you can extensively mod skyrim, fallout 4 and soon starfield, plus install homebrews. Its a very compelling device.
Yeah I picked up a Xbox S white for $217 with free shipping Taxes included back in Nov 2022 I tried lowballing the eBay seller and it worked😂! Yeah Its my main console now over my Nintendo switch and PS4 pro
Modern electronics don't actually turn off. Its been this way for at least a decade. They still draw power they just shut off the signal to your display so you think its off.
I have my Xbox Series S beginning of this year, overall, I'm impressed with this little console. Additionally with the Upspec Gaming monitor Xscreen for the Xbox Series S makes it worth playing my games portability and Gamepass Ultimate hits the sweet spot for me
@@TheJustinboodramI have a portable gaming monitor from Uperfect. It's 1440p 60hz with a 17.3 screen. I bought it refurbished for about 100 bucks. It's way better
It is. Relatively easy to set up, too. I am using it for emulating my old games and consoles mainly. Being able to play current gen games is really just an added bonus for me
so,...I'm 45, the time has just come and I bought one, I'm very excited and I'm looking forward to the game, mostly Forza Motorsport and F1 are the Hunting 2, so I came across you last time because I kept the iPhone 13 mini instead of the 15, now I recommended you to youtube for my next problem :) I love you! and thank you, greetings from Hungary
Crazy. I’m 10 months sober laying next to my 1 week old daughter as I type this at 23 and was FEINING for a new hobby and looked up if this console was worth it for trying to get ‘next gen’ gameplay without spending a ton and you just randomly brought up your child and made me completely set on buying one!
Congrats on both man. HUGE. Absolutely be proud of yourself. One for going through the hardest, and two for being a dad. Hope you dig your Series S. It kept me sane on the bad days. They’ll happen, but so do the good days after. Cheers and congrats
Really feel you man. I have a 4 1/2 years old son and next to the job and household little time to game. Also, I‘d rather spent the 1500-2000€ for a good PC on 1-3 nice family vacations and thus memories with my wife and kid. I sold my PC while writing my thesis and vowed to bury gaming for some years, which I did. Yet with the Series S, entry back into gaming was never so easy and cheap. For 280€ you gain access to a console that can run every triple A title with good Performance and looks. Next to the Game Pass, you have a good stream of fresh new Games. It is also so super fast to start up and begin a game, so you can easily sneak in 30min of gametime. The Series S + Game Pass is the best value/money deal I ever did in my well over 20 years as a gamer.
I recently picked one up and am in my late 20s as a grad student. Budget friendly and a fun way to relax after a long day. Especially when you're rocking a free old 1080 TV without apps
Nice video. I would like to add that consoles are back to doing what they used to do: offering great quality of play with a really low expense. The series S is now new for € 200 and it is unthinkable to set up a PC, at the same expense, that offers a similar experience. Series S is the people's console! hahah
As a dad, my first Series S (sold to fly and make sure my son was okay) was so convenient and fit my needs since I have only one 4k tv and my other children would use it. I could be in the living room, then if In-laws come over, or wife wants to watch a K Drama, I could move to the office, bedroom, or snap on my Backbone One to my phone to remote play flawlessly because of the Xbox app setup and Series S' smooth networking. Traveling/Moving it was a breeze too.
Series S is a great little console. Quiet, small footprint (get a little 3d printed stand to stabilize it) and does the job at 1080p and 1440p. Makes a nice little hand warmer too, ha. Have one on my 1440p monitor along with my gaming PC and Switch dock, with a PS5 and Series X on my main TV, and the Series S still gets a considerable amount of play time, more than my Series X (by me at least, my kids use the Series X and it is the blu ray player for the main tv). As a kid or college student, I would have loved to have a Series S and Gamepass. And yes, quick resume is nice for quick 10-20 min play sessions here and there, which is why I probably use the Series S on my monitor more since sitting down to play my PS5 or Series X on my main TV is something I usually reserve to do on nights when my kids are in bed and wife isn't using the main tv, and I tend to lean towards going through my PS5 backlog for those sessions.
It's nice but for the full backwards compatibility experience, stick with series x. Many bc games on series s are 900p and don't run to great like sekiro. It can't hit 60fps like it can on series x. The bc not being on par with series x was really the thing that hindered the console for me.
I'm a 69 yrs old male, and I'm retired. I spend quite a lot of time on my XBox 1S. I have a Gaming PC with Flight Sims, Battle Sims etc. !!! I want to get an X Box Series X. I have a 2 TByte built in Hard Drive and an External Seagate 8 TByte Ext Hard Drive. I have 275 games on it. Most of the Internal Hard Drive is Empty and also 1 TByte is free on the External One !!! I always use an Ethernet Cable and I never have any Game Crashes !!! The X Box I S is a lovely machine which is about 8 yrs old. I want to retire it and use it as a Standby now because it has had tens of thousands of hours use and has never gone Wrong !!! Most Console faults seem to be caused by people spilling drinks into the Fan Vent !!!
Totally a great great console specially for someone like me who has been with PlayStation forever. To me a PS5 DE and a Xbox SS is a great combo. Even better than a PC imo. Great vid Tech.
I actually just got a Series S today. I have a PC, Series X, PS5, and Switch. But I needed that couch Xbox experience. I have young kids, my man cave where my PC, Series X, and a second Switch dock is located is hard to get to some days, but I wanted everything to stay there where I have it. Pretty happy with my purchase honestly
Honestly I've been wanting to get an Xbox Series S since it came out, but I always kept on spending the money on other things. Last night I just got fed up, I put all my money into a fixed savings account that only matures in April next year, by then that money should be enough to get a second hand one, but if I buckle down for a further 4 months after that I should be able to get a brand new one. Wish me luck guys, this time I'm going for it properly
I got series S for the price and the size.Battle royale or fps gamer wont disappointed with this one because of the price and the performance you get from the last gen console.Quick resume is a bonus and solid reason to buy games on digital. If you kind of gamer who caught up on the latest and greatest title,go for the X.Story driven and exclusives,go with ps5.
I’ve had the Series S for two years now and finally got an X at Christmas. I can say first hand the S boots up faster than the X but it makes sense the more powerful machine will take a second. I never considered how portable it is now that’s it not my primary console. With the internal power source it’s just a small box and a controller you have to carry
With my I got my series S in the computer room next to my PC where my monitor is 1440p And then my series x is in the living on my 4K tv. With Xbox cloud saves, I can pick up and play on either or which makes it so much more convenient
The series S is a great system, it may not have the best performance but it’s definitely a nice budget option, and you don’t always have to have to most expensive thing, it’s a great value
I have a series X already but i just bought a series S to have another console in my living room and my Series X stays in my gameroom. I definitely notice the difference in graphics but it’s definitely nothing game breaking and it everything I played ran pretty good so far. Im looking forward seeing how other games do versus the series X
I own Xbox series S in early 2023. I was unable get ps5 in India, so I purchased series s as it was cheaper and available with game pass. I did quite research and noted that’s games were expensive than Xbox game pass. I am a very casual gamer to be really honest I haven’t spent more than 30~40 hours a year since I got my Xbox. I love playing whenever I play, I am not much of graphics nit picker. I did noticed some up scaling in my 4K TV, but to be honest it never bothered me.
I’m literally in the exact same boat. I’m glad to hear the load times are good because with a 9 month old there isn’t a lot of time to mess around. I love gaming but find it hard to justify spending a lot of time doing it. At least consistently.
Usually 3 stages of a male gamer: 1. Kid with a console, playing popular multiplayer games mostly 2. Twenties as PC enthusiast, probably built your first pc and felt proud, playing mostly singleplayer games, discovers modding 3. Becoming father - steamdeck (I just made this up based on majority of my friends, good luck!)
Stage 4: Gets bit by the nostalgia bug and starts spending lots of money to rebuy the retro consoles that they used to have back when they were growing up in stage 1, and hopes to now share this experience with their kids. Also, buys an old CRT TV to properly play them which the wife does not approve of, but she just doesn't understand.
Being on a low budget two years back I got a Series S, was highly impressed for the most part, though certain games like XCom would frequently crash, also Midnight Suns crash at times: lack of memory? I sold it when I could afford a PS5, PS being my main love since PS1, now less than a year later, I want to trade it in for a Series S or X. Sony have really dropped the ball this time with a lack of the normal exclusives and now announcing no more for a year, also PS+ being expensive compared to Game Pass, and GP having more exclusives now… Sony done mighty f’d up this time round. So I am heading back to a Series, S probably, 1TB☝🏻
whole heartily agree. Dad of 3 kids pretty much used my ps4 / xb1 as coasters as i didnt have much time to play and did not want to invest 500 in machine like ps5/xbx. the xbss is a gem - 60fps destiny 2 is my escapism in the evenings, jump into a few gambit matches and strikes for an hour but all in beautiful 1080p 60fps. I've added a 2tb external to keep all my non optimized standard xb1 games on and move xbox series s games off while not in use, 50euro. I am not 1 for pausing a screen to check if there 100 tress on screen of 75, or additional bushes in the corner. 1080p 60fps is a great sweet spot for and game pass give me enough to explore other titles and keeps kids busy going through back catalogue of xbox 1 and new games
I got mine from co worker who had it in the closet used a few times for 150 and 2 controllers one was brand new I love it been using it for about 3 days, have a 24 inch 144hz monitor coming can’t wait.
I'm a father also and a console is a very good choice. The reason is there is no troubleshooting or graphics adjustment or driver issues or nothing to worry , plug , download, play
I always say that the series s is a very good console and the series x is a great console if that makes any sense, just because the x is great does not mean the s is bad.
@@ct2651 Hmm.. depends on how you look at it. If you are looking at purely dollar per performance, perhaps. But reality is 90% of games don't really use the X/PS5 anywhere near their limit. The ones that do are just usually incredibly unoptimized (starfield, Forespoken). You can get a comparable PC machine for 499 USD to a Series X. You absolutely cannot do the same for a Series S at 200-300 USD. So depending on the use case the S can offer much better value. If you absolutely only interested in playing the latest releases at their best settings than obviously the S is not the choice. If you have a big digital library of Xbox One/360 games and you occasionally play some of the new games the S is a fantastic option and will give you a much similar experience at almost half the cost.
Great video. I love the Series S. I do have concerns about it's future because devs might stop supporting it due to it being underpowered though. Outside of that, I think it is my all time favorite console. So many great games and an awesome in experience in a convenient package.
I think it would just come down to the optimizations developers can use for the console. The console does not target 4K resolutions, 1440p being the highest, but as the generation continues, I could see more devs choosing to target sub-1080p (900p perhaps?) as the main resolution for a solid frame rate without sacrificing visuals too much. Remember that games like Alan Wake were sub-720p (540p to be exact) on Xbox 360, but devs used tricks such as anti-aliasing to cover up the low resolution when the game got upscaled to up to 1080p on HD displays. Anyway, I'm not a game dev, but I would love to see my Series S get support for a few more years. I definitely enjoy collecting 360/OG XBox games before they get delisted on the digital storefront.
Well done video. Thank you for your hard work and openess about life changing things that do take center stage sometimes in a gamer's life. I am currently heavily considering getting one, and would have loved some downsides with just as much coverage; but the short comings you presented are the most apparent. Thank you for your video, and I enjoyed the editing too. Very solid cuts and great control of sound. Kudos. I'm subscribed.
I got a series s 1tb, for forza horizon since I play mostly on my ps5 and its my main console, the series s its a nice entry level console for people who want to play xbox exclusive games, in my case forza horizon 5, another reason why i took the series s is because i wanted a console that i could bring while traveling elsewhere, i just apreciate the series s ngl even tho im a playstation main, the series s is such anice and affordable console
I've got a ps5 and never owned a Xbox but one of my favourite games is on Xbox ss which is fight night champion and I really wanna play it again online and Mabey play nba2k24 is the series s good for that?
I have everything from a high end PC to a PS5, a few Switch consoles and a Steamdeck in our household. I picked up a second hand Series S for €120 last year as a curiosity. Hands down the most unbelievable value ever. Gets plenty of use by the kids. If they ever jailbreak this it would be an absolute monster. Meanwhile its phenomenal for light gaming and media consumption.
Finally video that I can relate too. I have a 1 year old and he is all over the place and me gaming on pc just had my hands all tied up. But now on the console I can pause and come back. Looking to upgrade to the series s 1tb.
I thought this was just a review of the series S but it turned out to be a young dad's story about getting back into gaming as a dad. Pleasantly surprised.
This is wholesome and nails the console markets audience on the head. It's not about competing with PC but to be a set and forget way to game. No building necessary but still get all the good times.
it is almost perfect for 1080p screens (2k screens are not needed) since you may play old-gen games (xb + xb360 + xb one) & performance mode of next-gen games (xb series / ps5) (both of these 2 categories are mostly design for 1080p)
Glad I'm not the only one who went through a period of not gaming. I have always been an avid gamer, but around 2012ish I stopped. Several things happened, I was in college, worked, got married, and then had kids. But about 3 years ago, I got back into gaming after finally settling down and was able to better manage down time to fit in gaming. Now I have an Xbox Series X and PS5 and game every day. Between a full-time job, wife, and 2 kids, I get about 20 hours a week. Definitely not a ton like I was used to, but I'm happy to be able to game again. It was weird at first because I basically missed the whole last generation. So, I didn't game for nearly 7 years. Going from a ps3 and 360 to these current gens is like night and day for me. Plus, Game Pass has helped me catch up, and since the PS5 is backward compatible, I'm able to play last generation games I missed out on from Sony. I'm so happy to be gaming again!
I blame ssds for all our future problems. Our bathroom visits were cut in half and the risk of kidney stones greatly improved. These quick loading times made it impossible to do those quick runs of relief.
I magaed to pick one up second hand with 2 controllers for 150 euros a few weeks after it came out. I really like the thing, especially since I've been playing the original Xbox One since it came out, quite an upgrade. I was shocked when I started up Ark, I remember being very impressed by the lighting fx when lighting a fire in the forrest at night. Only thing I don't like is that I can't play my 360 collection, maybe I'll pick up an X cheaply somewhere, we'll see.
I got mine just couple of hours ago and im having a ton of fun. Played some dmc5 and witcher 3 both ran perfectly. Im keen on exploring emulation on it
Is dmc5 available through the game pass ultimate or did u buy it separately? Asking as I’m waiting for my series s to be delivered on Saturday. Haven’t touched a console since ps3
I just bought myself a 75" 4K TV, and felt like giving gaming on the couch a go after a decade of being on the PC. I enjoy playing laid back story driven games while lounging and the Series S is perfect for that. Not to mention one of the best values in Gaming when bundeled with GamePass.
Ive really been considering getting a Series S as a casual dad gamer. Just wondering if I'd be better off waiting for the mid gen refresh or not? Hearing that Baldurs Gate 3 had trouble running on the Series S makes me worry for future game releases. Still tempted though!
Baldurs Gate 3 runs great, they just removed the split screen co-op, which honestly, the game isn't really great as a co-op game anyway, so not a huge loss. Most games run great, I think maybe the upcoming Real Engine 5 games might struggle, but I'm willing to bet the big ones will be able to be optimized to run well. There's plenty of firepower in the S, it's basically a 1660 super tier PC, at 200-300 USD. Incredible value.
The switch got me into gaming later than most in my early 30s during early sobriety. I deff go out of my way to fill a niche handheld desire these days BUT the Xbox series s is the only consideration I had to my desk set up. With hella kids running around under my primary custody and a grueling work schedule these days I can't sit at my desk a lot when I want. But the s gives me that option and it's a great console. I'm aware of it's limitations for sure but they don't interfere with my gaming and with a portable monitor that I have for my other stuff it's almost a laptop so I actually can take it to the dining room table when the whole family is doing their thing and I'm still around. Love it.
I love that I bought this console. (I got the black 1tb version) I’m not someone who’s ever strived for a perfect system with the greatest graphics. I maybe play roughly an hour a night and more when I can at the weekends so this is perfect. Especially when I’m saving for my own place this was a good price.
I got xbox one x for 289€ around maybe 2017 with 2 controllers and a free game and its still plenty for me to enjoy on some of my free time. I thought about buying series x but I just couldnt justify that kind of money when cash is always tight.
I was going to buy a series X tomorrow for £480 but I just watched your video and decided to go for the series S in charcoal colour for £300. Yes I have a 4k TV but I don't think there will be much notable difference in graphics, Also the series S plays media in 4K so it's well worth it
Yeah I've been in the same boat the last couple of days debating which one to get. In addition to what has already been said - Series S games are usually smaller than X so quicker download & play and it also uses less electricity; two benefits I think that tip the favour to this console.
You can get one for so cheap, wait for a sale and pick it up if you've got the itch. Don't even need to pay full price for most games with how often they go on sale and the option to play them on gamepass if they are available on there.
I had to give up gaming or a few years when I had a kid, only a few years. If the Switch would of been around then, I would of been still in the game. Best thing is though, once my kid was around 6-7, I got to introduce them to gaming.
After my computers motherboard went bad I decided to get this console to save money after just giving up for a couple months. Honestly really surprised and happy with mine I love my Xbox. It’s really nice to lay back and play with the big tv.
I got one for $250. The value is unbelievable. I see people online say the console is practically worthless and it makes no sense lol. Also i just love small devices, this is perfect
I’ve just got the Series S. it’s the first Xbox since the 360 I’ve owned and my poor PS5 is currently gathering dust because it’s just so versatile. That coupled with the fact that I’m not really a huge fan of the PS exclusives atm but I’m a huge fan of all the Xbox exclusives!
People who hate on the series s have never used one 4k isnt everything you do realize pretty much every game can be optimized for 1080 1440 and even the ps5 and series x cant really play native 4k especially at 60 fps buy a series s and save some money like a low key legendary genius 😉

Having Gamepass has been a huge help for me as my kids can download so many games to try and play. We like to do alot of stuff and be out and about but when we have a chill day in the AC we can party up and have alot of fun together. The Series S is just awesome
Well I do not have kids, but I did the same way, bought it on a sale and really love it
Being a parent myself I totally agree. I just picked up the Series S 1tb and it brought that love back to gaming with the simple point of being able to save a game, put my kids down and start right off where I left in a second or 2. That and every gaming dad needs to be able to take it (easily) somewhere else when the kiddos take over the living room
100%! Love my series S.
Get a Deck and now you are in heaven.

I literally bought series s last month by your advice yes the machine is so good, i've been playing phantom liberty and motorsport, both on quality mode on my 32 inches monitor and man the graphics still hold up very, very well.
I have a mid tier gaming laptop downstairs in my bedroom and living. The XBSX is in my gaming space. I get to swap between them all. It is amazing.
Can’t believe the console is three years old. Time did go by really fast

Happy for you man
Quick Resume is a game changer for me - I can instantly jump from my kids’ Paw Patrol game back into what I’m doing in an instant.

Series S is the people's console! hahah
The value proposition is unmatched.
This is the first time I’ve ever watched a video of yours and I enjoyed it so much, subbed! ❤
It's nice but for the full backwards compatibility experience, stick with series x. Many bc games on series s are 900p and don't run to great like sekiro. It can't hit 60fps like it can on series x. The bc not being on par with series x was really the thing that hindered the console for me.

I’ve had the Series S for two years now and finally got an X at Christmas. I can say first hand the S boots up faster than the X but it makes sense the more powerful machine will take a second.
Usually 3 stages of a male gamer:
1. Kid with a console, playing popular multiplayer games mostly
2. Twenties as PC enthusiast, probably built your first pc and felt proud, playing mostly singleplayer games, discovers modding
3. Becoming father - steamdeck
(I just made this up based on majority of my friends, good luck!)
Now you are talking, at least, you admit the X is a better price quality ratio. I would say that this should be the discourse.
Bro, I love how real this review was man, God bless you and your fam (whether you believe in blessings or not) and I appreciate this.
I've had mine for over 4 years and works good as day one ..my original controller dosent zero..but still usable
Thats crazy man. We are the same. New dad. Have a daughter too. And was also thinking of giving up on gaming cuz i feel theres no time.
Finally video that I can relate too. I have a 1 year old and he is all over the place and me gaming on pc just had my hands all tied up. But now on the console I can pause and come back. Looking to upgrade to the series s 1tb.
I been playing my series S like crazy over the last week. Such an awesome console.
“That is becoming a parent for the first time” - Smash cut to vicious hound absolutely mauling the baby
This video sold me! Have 15 month old need a cheap next gen option for College Football 25.
Scrolling thru social media before dropping your phone. I can relate would happen sometimes while cuddling with wifey.
I blame ssds for all our future problems. Our bathroom visits were cut in half and the risk of kidney stones greatly improved. These quick loading times made it impossible to do those quick runs of relief.
Thanks for this great video 😊
@@1GateWay2Heaven DMC5 was on gamepass last year but not anymore. It's a game that goes on sale for around 10-15 USD regularly though.
Love the way you started your vid 💪🏾🫡🙏🏾
Same situation right here. Thanks for you video 😁
Love it.
Awesome video. And congrats on being a father/parent.
3:53 you're stuck here with me

Im gonna get a series S for all my 360 games but all the good games are on playstation.. If you had to choose between the 2 choosing xbox is insane
I love that I bought this console. (I got the black 1tb version) I’m not someone who’s ever strived for a perfect system with the greatest graphics. I maybe play roughly an hour a night and more when I can at the weekends so this is perfect. Especially when I’m saving for my own place this was a good price.
Great video, subbed
I've only ever had consoles, then I switched to pc a few weeks ago, but man this just make me wanna buy a new xbox
You can get one for so cheap, wait for a sale and pick it up if you've got the itch. Don't even need to pay full price for most games with how often they go on sale and the option to play them on gamepass if they are available on there.
Loved this video essay. I related to this a lot.
I had to give up gaming or a few years when I had a kid, only a few years. If the Switch would of been around then, I would of been still in the game. Best thing is though, once my kid was around 6-7, I got to introduce them to gaming.
Same life I have been living.
Every single word is approved!!!
After my computers motherboard went bad I decided to get this console to save money after just giving up for a couple months. Honestly really surprised and happy with mine I love my Xbox. It’s really nice to lay back and play with the big tv.
Planned obsolence on computer parts
Still love my series S. Despite everything being so 4k oriented I still love mine on a 1440p OLED monitor. Looks incredible.
@@MinimalisTechwhats the best price to buy it at? right now at gamestop its $299
