This game is hard-core cpu bound on these consoles. Considering the CPU part of the APU is almost the same between Series S and X I'd be very surprised if they manage a 60 fps mode. You could run it at 720p on Series X and still struggle to get reliably over 45 fps. Maybe fsr 3 frame gen will make a 60 fps possible later on.
Honestly, Bethesda just need to stop eating their own jizz and get rid of the creation Engine already, it's the worst running, most unoptimised crap in existence, held together by Todd's ego, metaphorical tape, and dreams, yet the deluded picks keep on going.
@@Orain88 I play it on the Series X, I am not impressed, character models are shit, graphics is terrible in most locations with absurb popping of characters and foliage, FPS doesn't feel like a smooth 30 to me anywhere, it's choppy as all hell, I'm using an LG 27" G-Sync 1440p 140hz monitor, so that can't be the issue in terms of choppyness. I'm a big Bethesda fan, and for a game that Bethesda have been wanting to make for many years, they did a pretty shit job of it, they could have easily made this game 60 FPS on the Series X, the graphics are far from impressive, people have already 100% completed the game so it's not that deep of a game, the damn game just released. Skyrim is more impressive to me in terms of character models, content, environments, and that game released 12 years ago. I started to notice that the models were horrific the moment I arrived in New Atlantis, after seeing the teenager talking as you go down the ramp, I then started looking at all of the other models walking around, they literally look like clay, no life to them at all. Saying that, the graphics haven't even developed very much in those 12 years between Skyrim, and Starfield, at all. I garuantee that a few community modders could make Starfield look drastically better, and have the game running at 60 FPS on the Series X, it's crazy how community modders can do this within months, yet billion $ companies fail to do so after years of development, blows my fuckin' mind. Starfield, even though I wanted it to be great, didn't disappoint me knowing that it was going to be the opposite. I'm genuinely worried for Elder Scrolls VI, and having such a graphically shit game be so hard-core cpu bound on a console with 16GB of RAM, and a 7 nm AMD Zen 2 8-Core 3.8 GHz CPU is absolutely pathetic. They can't say "It's because we have 1,000 planets" and if they do, it's a lie. Elite Dangerous has billions of planets that you can land on, with MUCH better graphics, that game manages 60 FPS just fine, and it's even multiplayer, oh and you can manually land on those planets too, Elite Dangerous released in 2014, Todd Howard, and Bethesda have no excuses.
Thank you! Normally, I play on Playstation and PC, but lately, I have been considering putting an Xbox console in my basement TV to play Xbox-exclusive games. I would still use the PS5 as my main console, so I was wondering if I needed the Xbox series X or S; this video was very useful. In my case, the series S is probably the best option, as I'm not going to be playing countless games on it, just a few exclusives. Thanks again!

@@TheAgentAssassin Correct. I own both and while some games show the significant difference between the console's capabilities, Starfield absolutely does not. They don't have 60 fps enabled for the X for some reason and it truly feels the exact same for me between both Series S and X. The load times are only about 10-20% faster on the Series X for the same load screen. Definitely not worth the cost to upgrade to an X if Starfield is the reason you're upgrading.
@@TheAgentAssassinnot sure I agree with that, it doesn't maintain 30 at 1440p in some parts with the current graphical settings. They'd have to dial some things back get anywhere near a solid 60fps, from the drops I'd guess this runs between 35-45 on the X with the current settings and this is why they cappedbat 30fps. The game is horribly optimised though, so it's not the console, it's the game. What's going on behind the scenes, the X should be able to run at 1440p 60fps with little drama.

@@SoundBuckle I thought that the loading time required to load a lot of data would be almost eliminated in this generation of consoles. I highly suggest to do a re-test on the latest patch, it's really bad now on Series S, this is from someone who has played since release, and I am now seeing really bad load times, saving, more crashes and huge FPS drops in non populated areas with little Geometry or Floating Point Instructions, I don't have the FormID bug as I had just done a NG+4 so it's not that. I also see this on a lot of Ryzen APU PC's one of which has just been released, the 8600G. I think it's mainly an AMD issue with FSR and the input lag has also got really bad since the last patch. They have a long, long way to go to get this game working properly even in Vanilla it wasn't ready for release, the amount of bugs I have seen with most on Reddit and Subreddits, plus some new ones I have found, some major game breaking ones and a lot of content was cut just before release for the DLC, remnants have been left behind, it's pretty shocking really they released this in September, it needed another 12 months in the oven. Still it sold out the 7800 XT and a ton of 1TB Series S consoles. Now it's rumoured to be coming to PS5 if the announcement next week is anything to go by.
I sold my series S and got a Xbox series X recently mainly for just Starfield :p because of all the awesome Star wars mods coming out on console now, I wanna experience it with 60fps and the full graphics and stuff :p it looks so beautiful
For me on the series x quick resume only works a few times until the game starts glitching and crashes. I feel for sniping especially helps with 4k pixels
im planning to buy the series x for the sake of playing starfield but im sucks at shooting using controller, maybe i'll just wait and build a pc by the end of the year.
RDR2 on Series S looks very good, a lot better than i thought it would look. I'm used to play on 4K with a RTX 4060 8gb on my PC and the Series S didn't disappoint
Man don't lie, Series S is playable but it looks so blurry and it does not reach 30 at all, only in specific places. I played it for so long and stuck with my Series S until forza came out, My eyes acke from trying to focus into the blurryness of it. It's an impressive console and runs everything, but it will be blurry, and no, it's not solid 30fps, and by far. it's easy to see how rarely reaches 30fps by it's frametime you put the fps there as an image because it doesn't move and I swear to god this game runs at 25 almost all the time unless you are on a closed map.
Honestly, people need to compare with a zoom x4 to choose a console, today?? And I don't say that for Open Surprise who made the video (it's an honest comparison). We can clearly see how both versions are very similar, unless yu want to see stone litle less blurry; because, yeah, it is very important the stones details in a game. 😅 Just go with the budget you have, and enjoy the game. Very sad to see how it's all about performance today instead of the rest: the game. Ps: forgive my english, i did my best 😁 !
I mainly bought this game with the Series X instead of the Series S because I wanted to be able to play physical discs on the console. But yes, it would be cool if the game gets a 60 fps update in the future for the X model, or at least faster loading times.
Do like a did, I already have a ps5 and I wanted to play starfield because I love bethesda games, so I bought the series s, and the game looks really good and runs surprisingly well, and I have no regrets that I didn't buy the series x because that was my plan until I found a used series s that still has 18 month warranty on sale only for 160$, I couldn't let that Opportunity slip away, my only advice that you get the 1 terabyte version
To be honest i don't have a current gen X box i usually buy both systems ergo Sony and Microsoft, because of the cost of living i did forego 1 system now back on my feet i'm considering buying an X box just for this game. Here where i am the Series S is only £249 where the Series X is nearly £500 so if i'm going to buy just for this game and it's not a bad version(which by all accounts it's not) then the Series S is a perfect companion to have next to my PS5.
I have a series S and it crashes every time I play. Same thing happened when I played FO4 getting prepped for starfield. Might be more of a Bethesda issue but the crashing is frustrating.

Edit: I explained in the replies exactly how to fix it. I get so much screen stuttering on my Series X with a LG C2 OLED TV. it's borderline unplayable in doors. It only happens when I move the camera, I even recorded a 30-second video(with share bottom) and when I played the video it had half as much stuttering so it's definitely about the TV not the game.
I saw a vid on that topic on RUclips, seem to have something to do with the hdr, it appears you can fix that by changing some options on the tv. RUclips channel is home theater gamer (somehow cant copy the link)
@@philippesevigny4959 yup, I figured it out a couple of hours ago, it's expcificly Dolby Vision HDR. The difference for me is night and day. if it still didn't work, put the TV in standard mode or cinema mode, activate Motion Pro in the Clarity section for a few seconds, and then deactivate it, This is the thing that actually changed things for me! I don't know why, it just worked!
I started to notice the Series S falling behind with Cyberpunk 2077. While Starfield looks and runs okay on the Series S, it's lack of power shows. In busy environments or areas where there's a lot of detail, the stutter is rather annoying and the texture pop-in is noticeable too. The fact it runs as well as it does is an achievement, as honestly i was expecting it to look much worse. But for how much the Series S cost, you can't complain because it's punching well above its weight.
This game is a mixed bag from a graphics and performance standpoint. On Series S, it can look absolutely beautiful, especially indoors. New Atlantis is a mess though. It looks last gen as hell, with rough textures, poor lighting and an inconsistent, low frame rate. Really takes you out of the experience.
Ohh man people dont understand how game development is working nowadays.. There are barely any games nowadays that get released in a almost perfect state especially when there's a big publisher in the background. They usually putting pressure on the development studio to rush the release of the game - in the past few years there have been several examples, when publishers force released games in a really bad state - with the most prominent one being cyberpunk, or WC3 reforged, or FO76 - theres alot o games that were shipped in a horrible state. Starfield however, for a bethesda game (as sad as it sounds) actually released in a kinda playable state (especially after the FO76 - Flop). now after the release, the developers will focus on optimizing the game performance and fixing bugs (atleast lets hope so). Its really likely that, after several optimizations, SF will run 60fps atleast on the XBX SX and Im pretty sure they could even make it work on the Series S - however they probably wont put the work in to it. Also the performance will probably be significantly enhanced on desktop PCs. There's alot of stuff that they can adjust under the hood.
The lack of 60 FPS is enough for me to sell my Xbox Series X. I bought the console thinking that it would be an alright holdover until I bought upgrades for my PC, but it's just so lacking.
Its just the Game, also runs bad on my PC 13700K 3090TI. Like really bad i have to use 1080p upscaling to 1440p. And it doesnt look like it should use this much hardware.
The game is no normal game. Its the largest game ever made. The fact it runs at a stable 30 on any console, is an achievement. Even high end PC's which cost more than twice as much struggle.
I have, the Series S 1tb, and the only game on it is starfield, the graphics bugs out constantly and it chrashes at least once every time i play more than a couple hours straight.
30fps is just horrid and not what most of us would have expected after buying a Series X, and for an exclusive Xbox title. The gaphics are behind Far Cry 6 and Cyberpunk, yet those games are 60fps.
Damn I’ve been spoiled on PC. My longest loading screens are 4 seconds tops and it takes about 20 seconds to launch the game. I never realized how long it took for Xbox One X. I hear people say the PC version is unoptimized, but I feel like it’s honestly the complete opposite.
Make sure you have a good enough TV for the x. It’s a waste of money if you don’t. It’s a machine for large screens and high res, a 1080p TV in your bedroom with an x hooked up to it and you’ve wasted money.
Starfield is not an exclusive. You can play it on PC. Despite the poor optimization, it's still much better to play on PC than on Xbox. Who is foolish enough to buy a console just for one game that is a mediocre title? Gone are those great days along with the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Because they are completely different games with complete different engines on complete different consoles? And also Spiderman 2018 is a PS4 game so that explains the optimization and why it runs well on the newer way more powerful console

Did you reply to the wrong comments section ? as that makes no sense at all.
Exactly same main is ps5 and have an pc so which did you choose x or s ?
Hopefully they'll fix the frame rate issues some time in the future, currently it's unplayable at 30 fps

@@danielallen7384 yea that's the problem, so many people seem to have lizard eyes, i wonder at what framerate if there is one they'd say this is too choppy/slow now

They are both powerful and the difference between them is insignificant
Seems like the series X is neutered. It can handle 1440p and 60fps
Definitely not worth the cost to upgrade to an X if Starfield is the reason you're upgrading.
not if you got a 4k tv
@@yesyouareright9800 Yes my friend, 4K TV is very important to get beautiful views on console power

I don't understand why it takes so long to start playing, fast travel, and load between maps on a console with a standard SSD... what is holding you back?
The CPU
@@SoundBuckle Is that true for titles that can be played on PS5?
There are still titles on PS5 that take more than ten seconds to load.
@@sa-Y-to unsure, don't have a PS5. It's just the sheer amount of stuff the game has to load in the open world.
@@SoundBuckle I thought that the loading time required to load a lot of data would be almost eliminated in this generation of consoles.
I read in an article before the launch of both hardware that the PS5 can achieve 8~9 GB/s in peak mode, eliminating the loading screen from the game, and even for the Xbox, loading will be completed in 5~6 seconds. And even now, 3 years after the launch of these hardware, this ideal load time has not become the norm. I am deeply disappointed.
@SoundBuckle ps5, series s and x ALL use 3.5-3.8 ghz 8 core Zen 2 chips for the cpu so cpu capabilities are within the same ballpark

So the Xbox series s can’t do 4k 60fps ? I’m thinking about getting one

It’s optimization. Not power.
@@_vxd_ exactly

Why upscale it to 4k? Why isn't there a native 1440p option?
The series X has an in console settings option to set the console to 1440p and 120fps
Now it's rumoured to be coming to PS5 if the announcement next week is anything to go by.
i was just planning on buy the xbox series s bro thanks for letting me all these issues and it was gonna be a brand new xbox too

RDR2 on Series S looks very good, a lot better than i thought it would look. I'm used to play on 4K with a RTX 4060 8gb on my PC and the Series S didn't disappoint
Is 1440p and 144 hz monitor enough for series s?
Just go with the budget you have, and enjoy the game. Very sad to see how it's all about performance today instead of the rest: the game.
Ps: forgive my english, i did my best 😁 !
Series X got the shitty 30 fps port , the X can handle more FPS @1440P
I mainly bought this game with the Series X instead of the Series S because I wanted to be able to play physical discs on the console.
But yes, it would be cool if the game gets a 60 fps update in the future for the X model, or at least faster loading times.
I have ps5, and im confused between x or s just to play starfield. Do you think there will be more xbox exclusive game? Should i buy series x?
Do like a did, I already have a ps5 and I wanted to play starfield because I love bethesda games, so I bought the series s, and the game looks really good and runs surprisingly well, and I have no regrets that I didn't buy the series x because that was my plan until I found a used series s that still has 18 month warranty on sale only for 160$, I couldn't let that Opportunity slip away, my only advice that you get the 1 terabyte version

Here where i am the Series S is only £249 where the Series X is nearly £500 so if i'm going to buy just for this game and it's not a bad version(which by all accounts it's not) then the Series S is a perfect companion to have next to my PS5.

It runs at 900P upscaled to 1080P on Series S with supersampling and FSR 1.0.
On the Series S just give us the option of pure 1080p or dynamic resolution to potentially help the framerate
When the framerate drops are CPU related, dropping res down to 1080p or even 720p won't help!

How much is a lot?

I play mostly old gen titles so the series S works for me. It’s the perfect emulator machine 😃
30 fps in 2023 on a brand new game is quite literally embarrassing. Like, legitimately. Insane. So yeah i agree
Its just the Game, also runs bad on my PC 13700K 3090TI. Like really bad i have to use 1080p upscaling to 1440p. And it doesnt look like it should use this much hardware.

30fps is just horrid and not what most of us would have expected after buying a Series X, and for an exclusive Xbox title. The gaphics are behind Far Cry 6 and Cyberpunk, yet those games are 60fps.
I'd go for the s it's so cheap now only 230 euro
Damn I’ve been spoiled on PC. My longest loading screens are 4 seconds tops and it takes about 20 seconds to launch the game. I never realized how long it took for Xbox One X. I hear people say the PC version is unoptimized, but I feel like it’s honestly the complete opposite.
it depends if you game on 1080p the series s if you game on 1440p i would go for the series x
Make sure you have a good enough TV for the x. It’s a waste of money if you don’t. It’s a machine for large screens and high res, a 1080p TV in your bedroom with an x hooked up to it and you’ve wasted money.
Literally cannot tell the difference
Starfield is not an exclusive. You can play it on PC. Despite the poor optimization, it's still much better to play on PC than on Xbox.
