Yes. Wayne is so 'normal'. He doesnt scream, or laugh like a madman, or giggle with silly enthusiasm. Hes a real pro, a decent man I believe, full of humour and his video the right length. (The trick didnt work for me I have deep set, round, very hooded eyes. The worst scenario👀😆)

@@WayneGoss This is the way I have to do my winged liner since the last 10 years. I have the loose skin exactly in the same spot. I always do a bat wing shaped liner and extended outwards like you showed here. (Wow, I worked like a pro, can't believe it. 😉😄 I cursed my hooded eyes so often) Then I smudge the liner or use black eyeshadow to fill in the "gap" of the bat wing. That prevents the somehow zigzag appearance of the bat winged liner, when you are closing your eyes or you are looking down... Combined with eyeshadow it is looking nearly normal. What I would like to know: How can I use lid tapes in a way they are invisible? Mine are never completely invisible. And how do I get them to stick better? I have oily lids, and I can't use them with a concealer or eyeshadow base.

My very stylish (British!) Godmother rocked Egyptian-like graphic eyeliner my whole entire life until she passed in her 80's a few years ago! Her signature look was: Platinum blonde curls, VERY full coverage tan Pancake foundation (I never, EVER saw her natural complexion, EVER!), BOLD black graphic liner, false lashes, light pink frost lipstick.
People made fun of her "dated" style in the 80's, but she would fit right in TODAY! I wish I'd inherited her HAT collection! (I got her STYLE!)

Great tips for a wing with hooded eyes ... thank you!
Suggestion: What I have seen other creators do is turn at a 45 degree angle to the camera. That is, if you are working on your left eye, then you want the viewers to see that. Turn 45 degrees to your right, exposing the left side of your face to the camera. You can hold up your mirror straight in front of your face. When you switch to your right eye, turn 45 degrees to your left, exposing the right side of your face to the camera. I've seen this work pretty smoothly for people who are holding a mirror in one hand. If you're wanting to use a mirror on the table, you'd have to set that up somehow so it moves back and forth easily, I guess.

I really like your tips and tricks especially for hooded eyes. I have hooded eyes. That said, I would never use this particular tip because in my opinion it makes the eye look closed off and downward. Instead, I lift the wing slightly upward otherwise my eyes look like slits. In addition, I lift up the tail of the eyebrow to also lift it up. Again, downward closes up the eye and it only takes a slight lift to make my eyes more open.

Don't know if the question has been answered yet but... For your camera/mirror conundrum. Lift your camera up just a few inches so it basically sits on the level of the top of the mirror. You could also bring the camera a touch closer to you as well. When you zoom in for the closer demonstration we can't see the mirror at all. Make small changes until you find a ratio that works for what you need. Thanks for teaching us these techniques! You da best!

I kind of stumbled on a similar technique to this about two years ago. I don't have loose skin, but I do have a crease/fold that extends below the outer corner of my eye. Looking straight ahead, I use a felt tip liner and draw up and out from the end of my crease and then drag the line straight across to directly over my pupil. Then I just color in the spots that need it. Even though I don't line my whole eye, it still ends up being a dramatic look, but I love it. Extra mascara on the outer lashes is a must!

I hope that made sense. Katie Jane Hughes does this same technique and her mirror and camera placement on really good

At this point, I have to - per your excellent suggestion - start the whole thing from my under eye, and my hood is so extra now, that I'm almost going straight out - horizontally with my liner (which is always eye shadow, and never black, which is too harsh for me). Joining up the top later, and doing the fill-ins. Working with my under-eye real estate is something I learned from Korean MUAs, and while I do not have an Asian eye, functionally, I'm dealing with the same eye shape at this point. So appreciate your tutorials, W. You are looking particularly handsome in this one! Cheers!

Most other makeup demonstrators talk about what they are about to do, or the product, looking 7:57 straight into the camera. But then they turn a bit to one side to do the procedure. Their mirror is usually off camera. I believe they have a mirror adjusted to eye level so they’re not bending over. Hope this helps!

Hello Wayne! Thank you, great video. Beautiful wing on your eyes. It's really hard to do it on hooded eyes. I have a little bigger eyes and more space on my eye lid, but I am using a bit lighter shadow instead of a straight line. It looks more friendly on my eyes as I am very fair. It would look very nice if you will take some grey shadow and bring it up to your eye brow, it would remove that hooded part between your wing and an eye brow. We all need to study our eye shape, because the wing is not going to look the same as on you. Kind regards!

Thanks so much, Wayne. I have deep set/ and protruding round eyes with a lot of wrinkly lid space. The bone gets in the way at the outer corner because of how my eye sits in the cavity. As I age, my skin has drooped a bit and the corners have started to wrinkle. I always winged my liner in my youth, but it never looked like it should, and there were no tutorials like this to help me out. I will try this. I think it will work for my situation. I enjoy your basic technical tutorials. Thank you so much for not globing a bunch of sparkly shit on the center of the lid or inner corner.
Have you considered putting a mirror maybe around your camera? Are there circular/ring mirrors with a hole in the middle for a camera mount? It seems like there would be a market for something like that. I feel your frustration. Thank you for being human and humble.

Amazing tips my dear. You're the best. I've never been able to wear this kind of eye liner and I gave up but now I will try this. Greetings from Mexico. Xx

I have an idea for your low mirror dilemma. I suggest using a lighted wall mounted mirror. You can attach it to a wall any height you desire. These mirrors are great because they have light, one side is magnified and the arm extends and folds back flat against a wall. 😊
You are a master with make up application! Thank you for sharing your amazing tips!

I’ve had hooded eyes my whole life and the outer corner has a crease. I have to work through it using the c-shape or making a baby wing. The trick is to keep your eyes open and then connect them. When I open my eyes, I’ll have a gap where the fold is so I have to go over it a few times and then clean it up. As far as symmetry goes-I still have a hard time with that but I’ve gotten better with practice.

Yeah I’m a fan of the “bat wing”/c shaped eyeliner too. It’s a nice way of getting a more classic wing with the eye open, and it lifts the eye a little more than going out to the side (especially since this way requires you to place the wing slightly below the corner of your eye). But it’s harder to do the bat wing if you have loose or aged skin, so this probably works better for those who do have that issue to work around.

Samesies! I do a baby bat wing/c shaped and so far can manage it with eyes open using a very soft eye liner. The soft pencil eye liner is KEY for hooded eyes and/or those of us hitting 40+!

Oh how fantastic! I feel like I always learn something new from you.
Btw, a trick to show the application process better is to position the mirror and yourself slightly sideways. You can lift the mirror higher (maybe over a shoebox or something like that), but usually sideways doesn’t block the camera as much and we can still see your face well :)

Thank you Wayne for another great info video. I am on it, hooded eyes and winged eyeliner perfection! Yeah, darn the mirror issue. I use books or a stand under my laptop for better zoom calls. Maybe elevation and/or an angle?

The one thing that I’ve found to be helpful is someone here on RUclips has hooded eyes and she draws right through the fold. Meaning don’t lift your eye or your brow. Only people who don’t have hooded eye problems can do that 😂 us hooded eyed people need to draw right through that crease and then close your eye and connect it. Best thing I ever did. I’m going to watch this one too now because Wayne has some really good tips

Another excellent tutorial for my hooded eyes!
Center Cam is a camera that's made to be positioned in the center of your computer screen. It could also be positioned in the middle of a mirror.

Thanks for reminding me the 7. Always necessary to practice!! Hooded eyes people , don’t feel left, as the seven despite many people use one kind of bad imitation mowadaysi, is the liner made to measure for you ♥️♥️♥️♥️ and a base for many variations, when you have the technique.
