Just outside LA? Over 100 miles away. It's Birmingham just outside of London? RE knows how to make a good looking bike. They aren't messing around anymore.
Its funny because I've seen people ride it off road no problem at all. It weighs less wet than the triumph Scrambler 900 dry so that must be an advantage in itself as I've seen the Triumph do some pretty serious off road riding. The advantage I think with the Bear is the low upswept pipe which is better for luggage on both sides & it's better for the passenger & it's better for the rider when you're standing up trying to grip the tank with your knees, which on the Triumph is difficult as the pipe is in the way. The downside with this is that you'd have to wheel it into a suspension specialist & get the suspension sorted out on it. Where the Triumph suspension is pretty good as standard.
How does this compare to the Scrambler 400X? The 400X is lighter with a little less power, but is quite a bit lighter. Is the 650 twin a nicer motor for this type of application? Interested in your thoughts. Thanks!
I feel like the Triumph scrambler would be better with almost the same HP but much lighter which is what you need if you take it off road. Feel like the Bear would be too heavy and not a fan of the tubed tire off road of the Bear
I sold my 400x after 8000km --great motor and bike--some worries about electronics for me personally after getting stuck once with it--i travelled with it i put on a siderack and rear rack-overall great bike but bought a NX500 for travel....I am test riding teh Bear 650 though--i love that motor-tourquey and the bike is gorgeous and it looks like they fixed what i didnt like about the INT650--i like i can add on RE parts to customise it easily--i wont offroad with it--its a great looking daily rider i can put bags on for weekend trips--love that 270 motor now with tire sizes i can get what i want on the rims--the INT650 18's sucked that way
Stock tires on any bike are generally use them and lose them. Then upgrade to a better tire. For the rider who occasionally goes on fire road type trails this bike seems to fit the bill. The 650 engine will be fine to do the 60 mph roads. If your wanting to do rougher off road then IMHO go for the lighter, taller , smaller displacement engine models that when you drop the bike out in the middle of no where by yourself, you can pick the bike up yourself and ride on. I think with any bike you have to be honest with yourself about what kind of rider you are. Plenty of big adventure bikes parked out front of Starbucks that never see dirt roads.
Have they re edited this video? I didn’t even notice the music, until I started reading the comments. Went back and started to watch it again, did hear the music, but certainly didn’t detract from the talking. But hey I grew up in the eighties, so have plenty experience of blocking out crap music. 🤷🏻♂️
For me, the music is OK!! brings dynamism to the video, but go with the majority vote. The replica one with the green frame is now a very strong contender along with the BSA 650 and RE classic 650. 7500 euros, so not 'cheap' though... but compared to a Triumph it's a bargain
The fact that the tires require a tube makes it a non-starter for me. On a bike better suited to pavement, why not have tubeless tires? RE makes tubeless options for the Himalayan 452 and Interceptor 650.
try taking 5 punds of pressure out of the tyres when you go off road & see how it goes then. You're waisting your time with a 650 twin scrambler off road running road tyre pressures-simply won't work.
Thanks for the review matey. Ticks all my boxes even though I do not know manual gears. Seems a more refined, all round and utilitarian bike to most, compared to the Triumph 500 I would go for this over price, looks and larger engine capacity, the guerialla 450 to in that respect maybe even over this because of the higher set height.
@@Jagknorr haha yes you are correct--i owned teh 400X for 8000km--the Metzler Street Karoos are a very good tire that looks good on these bikes--silica for rain--not great offroad but the 400X has very stiff suspension not worth it anyways offroad riding on that bike--too painful --Trailmax Raid tire are very interesting too--the Bear might need suspension upgrade but for sure new tires to start
What’s with the rock music drowning out Toad’s voice? Annoying and totally unnecessary🤷♂️
I'm not having any issues hearing him, but I'm also using a good headset with a flat equalizer.
I agree...
yeah same here, 1 minute in and im already done with the video basically.
Had to stop watching. So annoying.
Yeah. It's annoying 😐
Please keep the music down
Just turn the music off!
What's with the rock music drowning out the commentary!!!
I'm here to listen to the review, not the bs music.
Ditch the bloody music 😞
The background music stopped me watching ...
Minus the music ffs.... who is The editor
why the music
Toad, can you tell whether the viewers enjoy the music in this video? 🤣
Great looking bike. This is not a review, its a preview.
The crappy music in the background is very annoying
I really admire the off roaders which can handle 230 -240 kgs of these metal monsters off road ike e.g a Honda xr250 .Gifted guys.
I'm really curious to hear which bikes you had in mind at 7:15, and which tires would make the Bear 650 much better of the pavement. Thanks!
Enjoyed the review/commentary very informative .. but after 3 minutes had enough of music and dropped off.

I love the back story from desert racing.

@@BrettmotorcyclesPpl who have ridden it are really liking it.
@ yeah the engine is proven but based on the reviews it will have have a few issues off road cause of tires and weight

That’s a great looking bike. I trust RE to make a fun bike!
I’m keen for one in the 249 colours, with a matching sidecar.
Please please delete the music in the background it’s very annoying. 😮
Im thinking the gurilla 450 with knobbies is probably a better bike for those who can no longer deal with 200+kg.
True, the chassis is built for offroading.
Nice looking bike, like others bailed out early due to distracting background music…
I think it's a awesome motorcycle priced decently. We shouldn't be nitpicking about those tires; those are specially made for this motorcycle.

Beautiful bike
They missed an opportunity with leaving out the high-level exhaust.
Royal Enfield gets a lot of mileage out of that one engine ❤ 😊. Great review as always.
Suspension is very Stiff and the Z shaped shifter lever spoils the fun😅
Who is this bike for? If I wanted one bike only, wanted to be RE, and do all three- commute, touring, and light off-roading (gravel, not mountains).
music ...... 👎
5th bike. Don't forget the Super Meteor 650 😊
Bloody music 😩😩😩
Looking forward to RE making a new liquid cooled 650 engine.
Needs a chrome tail pipe, the black reminds me of the Hunter.

Will it be exported to the US?
launched in the usa first
Watch a video of Yammienoob to see how he does his music: classical and soft.
This is a nice bike actually. It's coming out in Australia this week.
Bear looks like interceptor and anchor looks like Johnny sinns
How is it for touring ?
No windshield and no bag's...how do you expect it to be..engine wise its more then good enough
Is that bike really so big or what's your height, Toad? Is the bike more suitable for taller guys than the Interceptor? I am 6"2. Thanks!
Yeah the seat height is 835mm, better for taller folks
02:42 little thing ? Looks very huge.
I really wish they would have put dual rotors up front. 476lbs is a good amount of weight to stop.
The fact that the tires require a tube makes it a non-starter for me. On a bike better suited to pavement, why not have tubeless tires? RE makes tubeless options for the Himalayan 452 and Interceptor 650.
cost...
The background music is trash & too loud.
I could really do without the cheesy rock, it's not 1984 and it's hugely distracting.
Nice sandals mate.
guy needs a ladder to get on.
Going to modify it like triumph 1200x scrambler
This is a lovely thing but for me they're still missing the mark. We need that engine in a bike like the old Himalayan. I would 100% order one!
Poor man's SCR950. Gave up because of the background music.
Two colour schemes for the uk initially? Neither of which is the bling yellow one i was going to order. Shame 😢

Why ‘cafe racer’ scrambler ??? 😳😳😳😳😳
Dual clocks would be better with no phone interface....need to switch off 😁
Music stopped me watching after 30secs wtf, who edits this
turn the music off
MUSIC
❤
Music too loud!
Solid Video, could hear everything fine, people need to learn what headphones are
Music made video unwatchable.
For premium tyres read normal for Europe
You can get a brand new interceptor for £4999.00
This video needs more music.
The music is annoying and too loud at the start.

It needs Michelin Road 6's
Better tires yes, but that would totally ruin the look of the scrambler. Need the (semi) knobbies! Otherwise just buy the interceptor 😅

Wanted to watch this but the teenager next door seems to have left his music on.
Stopped the music killed me sorry
🎸🤫
Toad’s on screen narration is excellent. Video is well shot. Music selection and levels are garbage 😢. Takes away from your presentation.
No one likes the music. We want to hear someone talk about their experiences. That's it. No one is trying to watch a movie of action montages.
is the crap music supposed to be a value added feature, jeesus
Please stop using that awful background music. It ruins the film and the message. You don't need it. I certanly don't need it!
Drop the music, it’s a turn off.
Two complaints.
No centerstand.
Turn off that shit music!
sorry cant watch with this unnecessary music.
Must be the laziest motorcycle reviewer ever! Fifteen minutes with same camera angle!
L Editor.
Ridiculous music ....
Your 13th dislike because of the loud music. You're welcome.
