This video never gets old. It is a shame there isn't a massive amount of his work available on video. Just watching him is mesmerizing as hell. Been a huge fan of his since The Sound of Perseverance.
One of the best modern drummers for sure. I loved him with Iced Earth (though Brent Smedley is also one hell of a drummer), Control Denied and Death. I love what he has done with Charred Walls - I think that he really succeeded in assembling a dream team for technical extreme metal. Mad skills, absolutely mad skills.

"ethel" is so damn humble that sometimes it's easy to forget what a fucking beast he is on the drums. i can play the drums. some might even say that i can play pretty damn good, but i can't even imagine doing the things that richard does so effortlessly.
christy is amazing, underrated drummer, I love his work in death, Iced Earth and charred walls... Also that kits sounds great, except for the snare tuning. and he is sitting pretty low and gets crazy power out of it, for me it does the opposite
i definitely prefer the groovy and powerfull Richard Christy here than the one of his Death era, dont get me wrong i love Death and intricate Drumming but this style i think suits him better
I think that this is just a metaphor for the Howard Stern show. From the outside, they all appear to be dimwitted, shitheads who can't hold down a day job, but if you peel the curtain back, you see true talent with everybody associated with the show, people that are the first in their class in their field, or damn close to it. Now I hate the Charred Walls music, but I do appreciate the skill it takes to play the music at the speed they do. Bravo, Richard, thanks from down here on the farm!
