Howard doesn’t give Richard the credit he deserves for being so damn good at drumming. Richard could be a drummer for any band but he chooses to make phony phone calls for a living. Hard to understand the rationale there. ☠️
Scotty Lo he didn’t make any money drumming. He lived in a storage unit in between tours, or some shit. It’s really fucking sad that the metal community lost such an incredible talent, but at least he makes a living, now.
There is next to no money in it for him. No stability, ridiculous working hours and tons of traveling. It is not appealing to every (even great) musician. I played for a living for five years and now after going to a manual labour and pursuing music as a hobby I am million times happier. Anecdotal evidence of course but I wish people would know that music business is not sunshine and rainbows beside exceptions..
I think I'm going to retire my Tamas and get a set of these Ddrums he uses, along with a few other metal players i've seen. They have a GREAT sound overall, with nothing lacking overall. I remember hearing The Sound Of Perseverance, I don't think he plays much these days, so this is great to see!! Richard is a beast.
@Drum3r541 Two things, brother. (a) If your pinkies stay on the sticks, you can't use something we drummers like to call finger technique, and (b) if a drummer is better than you and he uses a different finger technique than you, that is no reason for you to lose respect for said drummer. This drummer is good enough for Death, hence he's equal to Reinert and Hoglan on the ability scale, and with that immense talent, regardless of his pinkies or your ego, he's worthy of even your respect
a really complex/weird thing, the fact is that u can't find the structure of this solo 'cause he's not counting on a 4/4 in at least 3/4 parts of his performing... nuff said!!!
@captvanhalen hey...that guy drummed for death...its a sin to say anything bad about death and its members in the metal world...go listen to a death album and then comeback!!!!
I love Richard Christy as an album drummer, but he doesn't really impress me that much as a soloist. None of this stuff is particularly difficult to do, but the main thing is that there doesn't seem to be any structure to the solo.
OMG. Never in my life will I respect a drummer who doesn't keep their fucking pinkies on the stick!!!!! It looks so amateurish, and it makes your doubles/diddles sound like shit. My friend posted this link, like "this is so sick." No, this makes me sick...
I agree 100 percent with Roam Wolf, the only thing is that Neil has been playing drums over 20 years longer that Richard has. Neil has definitely reached another level, he definitely isn't the best but I guess experience is an important factor here.
Just four words..The Sound of Perseverance
Worldclass-Drumming!
So lovely.. I love what you do with the percussive arts, and Howard Stern. I love your foul presence, Richard Christy! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Unique and very underrated
This guy is my fffaaaavvvvvvvoorrrriiiittttteeee.
He looks like my grandson rusty.
Has he learned how to pump off yet?
Death was known for having amazing drummers and he played in Death
I love Richard Christy, He's a hilarious Hill Billy from Kansas, he has more personality than 90% of rock and roll stars
Ethel Murtz is awesome on the drums!
So good
Muito bom técnico pra caralho

Howard doesn't like to give anyone on the show credit except for his lapdog, Robin. He's a narcissist and an egomaniac.

Beautiful!!
Dude, the duck in the background....I am dying here! LOL!!! Otherwise, very sweet solo.
@danilosupreme Thats because when Christy blasts, you DUCK the explosion!
I had to check this out after I heard a little bit during the Lars interview. Good show.
I like the incorporation or cymbals, he’s been good at that since sound of perseverance album!

i wish everyone was as modest as this fucking genius!!!
@danilosupreme and the most awesome thing about that is that i'm absolutely sure that the duck was a Richard's idea xD
PURE TALENT.
Double bass skills are on point.
hey Richard this is yer dad, I done shot that little ducky on yer screen with a 12 guage. He tasted really good, well, we'll talk to you later bub.
DEATH was the greatest there was and still is
Awesome!
Jesus christ he's so fucking good still...
Richard Christy, né 01.04.1974 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Shared on Google+
wow great i love charred walls and charred grills too!!! stay heavy!!! not sure bout howard i haven't hear any of him or his show in years
wow good stuff
we need more cow bell!!!
Самый быстрый барабанщик в мире!!!!❤❤❤
the duck was cool.
You'd think the father of a drummer this good wouldn't have to resort to eating roadkill possum.
Why the Ducks? o.O
Metal band: Let's do some Cover from Sound of Perseverance
Drummer: Fuck it, I'm leaving
Ducky the duck is my faaavoorite.
a really complex/weird thing, the fact is that u can't find the structure of this solo 'cause he's not counting on a 4/4 in at least 3/4 parts of his performing... nuff said!!!
SCAVENGER OF HUMAN SORROW PLEASE!! :(
Richard would be one hell of a jazz drummer.
reg5381 for real. The dude has incredible dynamics.
Richard is the best death metal forever!!!
that sentence doesn't make sense. you're the one who hacked my system ealier, aren't you?
@Drum3r541 Wouldn't Richard Christy not using that technique be evidence that what you've been told is incorrect?
Fucking great Drummer. -- Salute from Denmark. --- STAY HEAVY ; )
SM7 on the hi hat?
Bababoo.... aw f-ck it, he is an amazing drmumer.
Hey, isn't that the duck that showed up to Shuli's show?
RIP
@Chuckdrums11 This stuff is child's play. Even Richard Christy would admit to that!
Someone forgot to fix the color spill when Keying out the chroma...
Check out Dylan Elise for crazy rythum
The most interesting aspect about this drum solo is the duck on the screen!
He's very quack.
+Dave Douchebag Antics I mean quick.
I ducking agree
Love the Cynic jokey.
@captvanhalen the only sin is restriction
@clockworkengine I guess it's because you dont understand it completely, S: too fast for you lol, maybe
HOW CRAZY! AN INVISIBLE HI HAT!! XD
Genial un groso
Talk to you later bub
An SM7 on the HH that's a weird choice
@YerrrMam um.. i think the 1 thing rock stars do have other than talent is very interesting personalities.. lol
CONTROL DENIED !!!
is that the grim reaper behind you? maybe Sal or Howard? wtf?
What the duck?
What he does well he's great at. When he tries to groove, not so much.
Rich- You are sOOO much better on The Sound of Perseverance
way awesome,,, Richard aint no light weight.
DUCK FTW
When not managing midget wrestlers, Dick Buffman enjoys playing his drumset.
Dam Duck..!! who plays with a duck..?? I mean really..??
It would be nice to watch him actually play without the camera view changing every two seconds.. The "editor" is a hack.
Cynic cap + Slayer shirt is win
Richard christy is god
sean reinert ftw
@captvanhalen hey...that guy drummed for death...its a sin to say anything bad about death and its members in the metal world...go listen to a death album and then comeback!!!!
Control Denied !!
He drums almost as good as my Grandma Ethel
I love Richard Christy as an album drummer, but he doesn't really impress me that much as a soloist. None of this stuff is particularly difficult to do, but the main thing is that there doesn't seem to be any structure to the solo.
Speed??
@Danger555 I, personally cannot, no. But I'm perfectly okay with that. I see the talent in this solo, but I don't enjoy the style of it at all.
One of my favorite drummers but not a very inspiring solo, just a lot of "pim pum pam". In Death he was unbelieveable!
Give me a "hell yea" if you were paying attention more to that duck rather than Richard playing drums.
OMG. Never in my life will I respect a drummer who doesn't keep their fucking pinkies on the stick!!!!! It looks so amateurish, and it makes your doubles/diddles sound like shit. My friend posted this link, like "this is so sick." No, this makes me sick...
Worst keying ever.
He's better than Neil Peart
You can't even compare that to Neil peart plus Neil peart was crowned for the best drummer in the world
Kyle Schenkeveld no. he was not
Sean Reinert is the best!
I agree 100 percent with Roam Wolf, the only thing is that Neil has been playing drums over 20 years longer that Richard has. Neil has definitely reached another level, he definitely isn't the best but I guess experience is an important factor here.
that is some lame drumming
GO RUSTY!
A DUCK WTF?
