    In this exercise video Meredith is guiding you through a full body, seated HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) routine using light weight dumbbells for added resistance.
    This is another entry in our popular "Full Body Blast" series which focuses on working your whole body in a HIIT style, timed manner. It is designed to give you body the maximum benefits of short periods of "work" and "rest" all in a safe, seated position.
    Seated workouts are great for those who may have limitations in the hips, knees or other lower extremities. They allow you to do movements in a comfortable seated position and yet you can still benefit from the movements in this exercise. You can also substitute dumbbells for lighter weights or just follow along with your range of motion.
    Remember to only do moves that you are comfortable with and that don't cause any pain or discomfort. Keep you water close by and take breaks when you need to.
    Have a great workout!

    I have been searching you tube looking for an exercise class that feels right. This full body blast is fabulous. I may not lift my legs very high , or get very far when I reach for my toes , but I know that I can do every move now and I will do them better with time. Congratulations on developing such a wonderful program.

    Hi Meredith, I've been following your vids for a few years now and want to encourage others to Donate via your website, if they can! To maintain a website and RUclips channel is costly and without people like you, many Seniors wouldn't be able to afford a personal trainer. Your routines stand alone with form, safety and precautions in mind. When I first started watching your videos I felt awkward and was out of shape. Now, I look forward to working out 5-6 days and implement different combinations of your routines without having to watch. Your style of teaching is 100% immersive and habit forming, with practice. That's Empowerment! Thank you for your indelible support! 💓💯✌🏽-Tree

      Thank you so much Tree! I appreciate your help with the push for donations, as they do help keep the channel and website going strong. I am also so fortunate to have a way to keep seniors, and those who need my workouts for a multitude of reasons, healthy and safe. I am always here to help support in any way I can :) I truly appreciate you!! Hugs!-Meredith

    Good workout! I'm at that place exactly between 3- and 5-lb weights; 3-lb is not enough challenge but with 5-lb, I sometimes hyper-extend my shoulders. I'll get it ... someday! Thank you for your work, Meredith!

    Is there a benefit to seated workouts vs. standing? I find sitting HIIT to be very hard on my hips.

    • @judithgrace8359
      @judithgrace8359 5 месяцев назад

      Joanne look at her side bar, click above the bell to access her side bar, (on my iPad) for an explanation of why seated exercises may benefit you.

    • @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith
      @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, seated workouts can be felt in the hips and hip flexor areas. When seated, be aware of posture and how to keep the core engaged always. There are movements where sitting back in your seat can be beneficial so certain areas can be worked as the primary where the secondaries are not taking over.
      Seated workouts are great when balance is an issue, not able to stand, vertigo and dizziness may occur, fatigue occurs easily while you gain stamina, or injuries keep you from standing for long periods. The body will work in different ways seated versus standing, so if able to stand try it out to see :)

    • @joannekempf3350
      @joannekempf3350 5 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your response. Standing or floor exercises are much easier for me. I have no balance issues. I am 68 years old and truly in better shape than I was 30 years ago!

    • @joannekempf3350
      @joannekempf3350 5 месяцев назад

      I think the issue I have with these seated workouts is that when sitting in my sturdy comfortable chair ( which is essentially the same chair you use), my knees are slightly higher than my hips which makes it painful to lift the knees and legs. It’s a good workout, but there are so many non-seated workouts; I don’t have to do this one!

  • @fagelbrooks1888
    @fagelbrooks1888 3 месяца назад +1

    Meredith, would you consider making an advanced seated workout? I have foot surgery coming up in May and I have been using your standing advanced and HITT videos since I stopped running last year, stepping up the weights as I am able. I am so thankful for your channel! But I am very worried about losing ground after this surgery, which has a long recovery curve. I will try this video this morning, but I suspect I will want something a bit more challenging. When I do your 25 minute cardio videos, I do them twice through. ;)

    • @fagelbrooks1888
      @fagelbrooks1888 3 месяца назад

      Hmmm. Yeah, this is too easy in most ways, but some moves (like toe taps to the back) I won't be able to do with my foot in a post-bunionectomy boot. So let me rephrase my question: would you consider putting a a video together for exercising with a boot? I have found some on other channels but they are geared to people decades younger than my 71 years.

    • @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith
      @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith  3 месяца назад

      Hi! I wish you a speedy and safe recovery, while still keeping up your strength and endurance. I like the idea of a workout when in a boot...I will put that on my list to put together and create.
      Keep me posted on your progress, I am here for you!

      @@SeniorFitnessWithMeredith oh, my goodness, you are so sweet! I just read this to my husband while he smiled and smiled. No wonder you have such an adoring fan club! If all else fails, I will splice together a bunch of the seated exercise portions from my favorite workouts on your channel.
