      I must say, after playing all healers into HM raids at least, that IMO, Disco and monk are way harder than other healers. It's A tier for both, then Druids and evoker, then paladin, then shaman and priest together.
      I was honestly surprised by how hard monk realy his, considering everything you have to think about ATM.

      Personally, I think Preservation is harder than restoring Druid. Resto Druid is easy. You keep your hots up continuously and mindlessly and if the raid gets damaged, the hots will do their job before other healer have a chance to react. And keeping the hots up mindlessly doesn’t affect you mana either. And you have Tranquil as an or shit button. And you know that your whole raid will get your heals because of your spell range. Whereas preservation, will mouseover a target that within range for everyone else but the Evoker, without realising that they are out of range, then try to find where they in the room, move closer to try and heal. And then you wait for your spells to be back up because, what a surprise, all your real healing spells are CDs or capped by essence. Yeah fire breath is nice but you wouldn’t want to waste your essences on it because, what if you need to blossom quickly but you are lacking an essence? Preservation for me is D tier. Still, more fun than other healers imo. Dream flight then Deep breath to return to the previous position is fun. So is hovering around like nobody’s business.
      Ps: I think the fundamental issue with your ranking is, how much of an importance you give to the off role (dpsing) as a healer, before doing the main role (healing) effectively, every single time. I think the healers like Preservation and Mistweaver have to work and plan harder to fulfill their primary role, before dpsing. With DPSing, maybe RDruid could be a bit more complicated than say RShammy cz, with RShammy, all you do is, stormkeeper > Chain Lightning x2 > Flame Shock > Lava Burst on proc. Even preservation can be easy with living flame with help vs. harm macro on 2 keybinds. Easy switch between heal to dps. Although you wouldn’t wanna waste essences on DPS.

    • @caroqt
      @caroqt Год назад +1

      @@AshWickramasinghe in high m+ keys, pres evoker is very easy. they put out insane amounts of damage with 1 button, meanwhile rdruid has to prehot the damage, and therefore know damage patterns in the dungeon (just like disc) which is what makes them the hardest healer. if you stand in the back afk applying hots and doing zero damage then i guess rdruid would be easier, but no one does that in high keys.

    I think everything you said was completely accurate. Another thing to watch out for newer players when playing disc or resto druid is that as your raid group increases in power, those timings for your ramps can change sometimes, especially on bosses whose abilities happen at certain health percentages. This doesn't necessarily make it harder or easier, its just a matter of adjusting to that which can be a bit of a surprise if you're not ready for it. Another thing to take into account for both those specs is their mastery too. This was great video dude, much love

  • @AmanitaMuscarias
    @AmanitaMuscarias Год назад +9

    I agree with both proactive healers (Discipline Priest & Restoration Druid) being the hardest as you have to ramp to heal & learn damage patterns. I do think that Disc is harder than Druid. I also agree with Holy Priest, Restoration Shaman, & Preservation Evoker being listed as the easiest respectively. I would add that melee healers such as Mistweaver & Holy Paladin dealing with melee mechanics does make it harder to play in comparison to ranged healers like Discipline & Holy/ Druid/Shaman. My own personal opinion would be: S: Holy Priest, A: Restoration Shaman, B: Evoker, C: None, D: Holy Paladin, Mistweaver, Restoration Druid, F: Discipline Priest. Love your videos! :)

    I must admit I find resto druid to be super easy myself and one of the more simple healers out there, switching from disc to resto during shadowlands was like a whole new world. For me it felt like playing resto was working 10% as hard as disc but for better output. For me I think it comes down to druids feeling like they have the tools to deal easily with almost any situation whereas other healers feel like they have more weaknesses that cause tense and difficult gameplay moments in M+. For me the most straightforward healers are holy priest, resto druid and resto shaman then Mistweaver, holy paladin and evoker on a tier beyond that with Mistweaver being a little harder and finally disc on its own somewhere out in Africa

  • @raharbour388

    For players who are afraid to play melee HPaladin - some tips - look at him as the rogue healer. You smash HS and CS on CD, reach 3 combo points and then spend them with either WoG for ST or LoD for AoE. You have those few core abilities, and then weave in powerfull CDs if your tank (Sacrifice/LoH), DPS (BoP) or the whole team (Aura Mastery/Avenging Wrath) struggle to survive.
    You will learn nuances later, but thats the core of the class. I think design wise HPaladin is one of the easiest healing specs to comprehend and get used to intuitively.

Once you've done a dungeon or raid a few times, you will know the damage patterns (roughly) - resto druid ramps are way easier and more forgiving than disc ramps - well enough to pre-rejuv raid/party members, cast wild growth just before damage and then hit tranq/flourish/convoke/ and oh look boom top HPS.

    I know druid is considered a proactive healer and I've been playing it a long time so im biased.
    But id still say druid is really easy, just keep your hots on the tank, put a rejuv on the dps, always keep your aoe healing circle down, if more aoe damage goes out use your aoe heal.
    Once you do a few dungeons and learn the fights/mechanics you can be more proactive. They're just so strong and fun.

    I think you're really underestimating the skill ceiling of Preservation Evoker. There's a lot of positional considerations that don't exist to the same degree for other healers, and on top of that there's some very interesting synergies between Lifebind, Echo, Stasis and Temporal Anomaly that are not easy to master, or even realize exists, and these synergies encourage you to think about not just what your next ability should be, but your next 2, 3 or even 4 abilities to maximize synergies. Also abilities like Rewind and Golden Hour are hard to get the best use out of but very powerful when used well. I played a holy paladin in Shadowlands and I find Evoker quite a bit harder because I have to think *even more* about positional gameplay, and I have to consider not just my next ability, but as I said, my next several abilities.

    Putting Rdruid lower than MW and melee paladin makes absolutely no sense to me. One problem, is that Rdruid ramping is effective in and of itself. Yes, any class that can ramp is innately harder to play, but if mapping out cooldowns is difficulty, then Rsham isn't B.
    Perhaps I'm biased since Rdruid is my favourite healing spec, but I genuinely don't see how it's even close to disc.
    Edit: so I finished the video now and heard your extra thoughts. Mistweaver not only needs to be in melee with their rotation, but if they're not standing on faeline (depending on spec) they're not as effective. On top of that, you need to make use of constant mist uptime + free vivify weaving. I'd never put Evoker on the same level.
    Your video is about "easiest" and "hardest" to play...but I feel you're going back and forth when it comes to minmaxing or simply picking it up, and that definition difference is messing with me.

      @@apdroidgeek1737 this is very old haha but the point was if you're playing "ranged" you're playing at a disadvantage. You can 100% take both styles of talents, that's what the raid builds are. Mixture of fistweaving and hard casting. But even if you try to play pure caster the game recognises you as a melee for mechanics too. Also rising mist is a huge benefit to run regardless - hots are core gameplay and extending them means more rems, more vivify cleave, can extend env mists from yulon and chi etc. It's not a talent strictly for fistweaving. I'm not saying don't play at range if you want to but the spec is designed to be played in melee regardless.

    This is not the first healing evaluation I've seen. It gets confusing. What you are telling is or seems logical, but every video I've seen says something different. The one thing you all seem to agree on is Holy Priest, something I don't play a lot. But you have Shaman next where other will put Druid next. Others will put Monk in the second slot. The only time it seems to me that Holy Paladin has been any good at healing was in Cataclysm. So I guess, what I want to really know is best healer that has more utility / DPS and without having to have triggers that must be used to enhance other healing spells. In the past most of my time spent playing a Priest was on Discipline which I became comfortable with but it seems to lack AOE healing.

    I love how stereotypical disc is put in the hard column because it requires you to know the fight and be proactive-- implying most other specs and roles can go in blind. No one new is playing WoW anyway, and knowing a fight encounter is like a basic expectation in the community. I would weigh range vs melee healing way higher than how well you need to know the fight and how long your ramp times are.

    For me, I’d rate evoker definitely higher on the difficulty scale. Out of the box, it looks fairly easy - push your empowered spells and group health goes up. I think a huge chunk of the healing though comes from executing echo combinations, and that this requires a lot of pro-active forethought. In lower damage situations/lower level dungeons, your main toolkit, with some reversions, dream breaths and spirit blooms will get you by. But then lets add in some high damage, sustained healing situations and suddenly you have to pre-plan in stasis usage, you have to blanket echo combo - maybe echo > verdant > emerald communion which takes time to set up. Your single target healing doesn’t feel incredibly strong - living flame doesn’t feel as strong as other healers spam heals and its kinda a last resort button - so instead you’re echo comboing again: double reversion, double dream breath hot, lifebind buff. If you use your empowers poorly, suddenly you don’t have them up and it can feel like you’re out of stuff to push.
    Add on top of this, increased situational awareness. Verdant Embrace alone means you need to have a greater awareness than other healers of where every party member is and the environment you are in. I need to charge this person, but oh wait, there’s a tornado about to intercept the charge path. I understand they wanted a gap-closer and even more mobility to talk about with the charge, but honestly it’d be a much easier healer if VE had no charge to aspect. Add in the lesser range with a spread group like you mentioned and things get tougher still - your best heal wont even reach people or will only do so at the reduced echo numbers.
    As for the druid ranking, I do see what you’re saying with it being a pro-active healer, but in my list its above evoker, hpal, monk and disc. It’s true that you need some experience to get the best use out of it (ramp planning for raid and learning when you can safely shift to dps for chunks of time in m+), but I think, out of the box it still just works easily regardless. It has such a strong tool-kit and you never run out of buttons to push. Big damage, a convoke or a wild growth+flourish will likely save your party and give you the time you need to put those extra hots on them. Big damage in raid? Push that tranq and watch numbers go up. I think that out of the box ease (not accounting for mastery) rates it easier for me - classes such as evoker, hpal, monk, disc all can feel a bit more edge-of-your seat when things are going south and much easier to play badly, they feel like classes where you have to really make sure you’re using all of your kit from day-dot.

    With Preservation, the biggest issue is range. You gotta position perfectly, despite all the mechanics, while covering the whole raid to be effective. It’s a nightmare to keep the raid up when it’s spread. On top of that, preservation is more of a proactive healer than reactive. You gotta time you blossoms, you gotta time you empower skills, you gotta living fire and stack your essences anticipating large damage waves. Some abilities are easier though like Temporal Anomaly, etc. Verdant Embrace is as you said, is a nightmare because it doesn’t work with @mouseover. Spiritbloom isn’t working with @focus. Yeah. Preservation has massive burst HPS potential but it’s harder to make use of it. Need perfect awareness of the fights, mechanics, positioning and timing. It’s almost like playing a MOBA. And it doesn’t help to have all your proper healing spells as CDs. Many times you realize you you have no spells that you can use to heal for a few seconds until they come out of CD and by then, the resto Druid and retro shaman will top the raid up or the raid will die while you wait for your spells

    • @AshWickramasinghe
      @AshWickramasinghe Год назад

    My man. How is Resto more difficult to play with its HoT effects than Preservation with Echo?
    Not saying Preservation is all that complex but it’s definitely harder to play optimally than Resto. I don’t think it’s a good idea to encourage new healers to play Preservation because if they don’t understand how to maximize Echo their party members are just gonna have a really bad time. That’s simply not the case for Resto Druid.
    A Resto Druid who uses their HoT effects in a bad/inefficient way will have a 10x easier time than a Preservation Evoker who uses Echo in a bad/inefficient way.
    Other things to consider:
    - Tranquility is easier to use than Rewind
    - Dream Breath has to be aimed, unlike Wildgrowth
    - Most Evoker damage is casted, but Resto can go cat form to do instant damage and they have DoT effects that allow them to heal while keeping up dps. They can also opt to stay ranged.
    - Resto is about 100x more durable than both Evoker specs
    - Resto has Convoke, which is easier to use and more frequently available than Stasis, whilst being similar in output.
    - Iron Bark is an easier to use Tank Cd than Time Dilation

    Now 2 my opinion:
    Holy: My Main? Easy 2 play hard 2 master. Would recomant it 4 everyonce that start playing heal. Godtier form the easyness.
    Much direct and aoe healing.
    Much CDs.
    Reactiv Heal.
    Diziplin: Schilds and heals with dmg not good 4 newbies. So i wouldnt Recoment it.
    Paly: The Playstyle is nothing 4 newbies, you have 2 make dmg and stand in meele, not good 4 new players.
    Druid: Hot Healing...
    2 Much Planing 4 new player.
    Scharmane: Good Heal 4 new player i would say the same like i say 2 the Holy ^^
    Evoker: 2 Much Planing and Schielding. 2 Complex 4 new players.
    Monk: Same what i say 2 the Paly.
    So i only would recomant Holy and Scharmane 4 new player if they wants 2 learn 2 heal.

    By the DDs? BM Hunter and maybe Furry or DH because this 3 be facerole classes in my Eyes ^^

Also saying that mw has "somewhat rigid rotation" while holy paladin is literally bound to go 0-5-0 with holy power. Also you as well as many monks dont know when to press what when it comes to that "rigid rotation" - count that into difficulty?
    As a melee player, I find melee healers to be easier for me. Now that is subjective but you cannot go saying that ranged overall including dps is easier then melee or vice versa. When it comes to melee holy paladin is probably as easy for melee players as holy priest is for ranged. MW monk is probably as easy for melee as resto shaman is for ranged. Druid is miles easier then disco and idk evoker thats too new.

I would never spec out of rising mist too, but nothing stops me from speccing into upwelling and yu'lon perhaps with gift of celestials if fits dmg pattern.
