  • In this video I run an electrical service to a container that may be used as a shop, or will later be converted into living quarters. For now I get a panel installed, and run some outlets (receptacles, switch, a light fixture), and provisions for a future mini-split A/C unit.
I pull the service from a typical wiring method here in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. With no panel to sub-feed from with sufficient breaker space and ampacity available, I choose to make this a secondary service as opposed to a sub-panel. So we need to establish a new bonded grounding / earthing point and run the two hot conductors and a neutral to the new panel.
Keep in mind this installation would not typically pass an inspection as it does not meet the full intent of any codes that I typically deal with, but out here in the beach towns of Costa Rica, you do what you can do in the best way possible to make it a safe and effective installation. We call this Pura Vida electrical work!
