Mean Gene is part of my childhood so I could never forget him.... R.I.P
Mine as well. RIP Meeeeaaan Gene
WELL LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHING MEAN GENE!!!....you’re easily a legend
Youre missing 15 "brothers" in that
HELL YEAH BROTHA. 💪💪
Of all the talent that has died in the last few years, Mean Gene's passing really makes me feel an Era of wrestling is forever gone.
Gene Okerlund was a one-man talent enhancement machine, he was one of the few people to truly have a legitimate finger on the pulse of professional wrestling.
"Do people think I'm sexy?"
"I think you're sexy Mean Gene."
Gene didn't need a belt ,he was THE CHAMPION🤘😜🤘
You are Goddamn right!
I'm going to steal that emoji... 😂
Always loved mean Gene interviewing the stars back stage, nobody could ever replace his talent.
Who can forget Gene being trained by Hulk Hogan to wrestle? Classic stuff.
I remember that. Too sweet.
Put the smack down on fuji
Yeah, and he couldn't drink the raw eggs. I seriously wanted to barf watching that.
Dozens of raw eggs. 🤮🤮🤮
“You no sumting Gene Mean..?”- the Iron Sheik
“Intelligen Jew, like urself...” - the Iron Sheik
Mean Gene, and Bobby Heenan were the best announce team
“Mean by god Gene” -Ric Flair
Wooooooooooo
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
*WOOOOOO!!!*
meeeeaaaane WOOOOOOO!!! by god, gene!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Nicest guy ever to be call mean god bless him for all the great memories 🙏
Mean Gene Okerlund. A wrestling interview artist. A true original and never will be duplicated.
@RedneckSpaceMan I would have to agree with you. Gordon Solie was an interview artist as well.
WRESTLING was Mean Gene! I remember as a kid looking forward too the interviews between matches 😁 Well done on remembering him 😍
Gene Okerlund was one of a kind. When he would give updates about wrestlers and upcoming events, it was a big deal.
Thumbs up before I even watch the video! I loved Mean Gene. His interviews with Macho Man are amazing! 💗💗
Yes and really his interviews with anybody was classic
@El Padre con Verga Larga As soon as I read the comment by Breezy, I had the same "Cream if the Crop" interview memory. A classic, from a time when wrestlers were allowed to express themselves freely.
👀🙉😻🥰🙌😜🐈
Breezy oooooohhh yeeeeaaaahhh
Mean Gene goes to WWF and it becomes the biggest wrestling company and then goes to wcw and it becomes number 1. Coincidence? I think not. It's all because of him.
Nobody better
I would not necessarily say it "all because of him," but yes, I agree that Mene Gene played a large role in WCW rising up.
@@frenchfan3368 Gene was is the standard
@@mrtonywilliams6312 I agree. Mene Gene was the standard. I just find it very inflated to say that the WCW rose number 1 "all because of him."
Not to short change the AWA, but when he was there, they had some of the best talent in the business. Vince saw that he was the best interviewer, so that's why he scooped him
I saw Mean Gene at a Big Time Wrestling Show in my hometown of Hicksville NY about 2 months before he died. He called out to my son when he saw him with his NWO shirt. The day he died my son got home from school and called me at work to tell me the Mean Gene had passed. Just taking a picture with him is such an awesome memory for both of us.
As a 80s baby born in 85. I fell in love with wwf, turtles, gi jo and batman sooo much. Wwf stayed with me until about 2001. When I stopped full time following it. Mean gene was rightfully a hall of Famer. So glad they inducted him into wwe hall of fame. He as u said. Was just as impactful as some of our favorites growing up even when he went to wcw. I watched both. So he was always there it didnt matter which book he worked for. He is awesome and hopefully some of the future talent are allowed to create moments like mean gene . Something has goto give with the dry bs they have fornthe last 15 years ish
Was very sad when I heard about Gene's passing. He will forever be an icon. May you rest in peace legend.
I met him and sat with him for brunch. Very nice guy. He will be missed. RIP
Mean Gene is the best announcer in the wrestling industry. It is tragic that he died, but his legacy lives on. RIP Mean Gene.
Before JR and King, there was only one Mean Gene Okerlund, one of the best announcers in the Gorilla Position of all time. Not even Robot Charly Caruso can’t say that because RAW’s backstage announcers have been hit or miss. R.I.P Mean Gene. I hope Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, Lance Russell, and Gordon Solie are there in heaven in your honor.
it’s very simple. the greatest interviewer in wrestling ever was, is & will forever will be gene
Ask and we shall receive!! Great work as always, man. 100k in no time. Keep grinding and we'll keep supporting.
Never been as good since Gene went mainly off screen.
The man was a treasure and great fun.
Mean Gene was essential. It's not until you watch wresting without him, that you see the enormity of his contribution,
Another excellent video! I adore Mean Gene. A staple of my childhood, to be sure. He left a profound legacy for us all to enjoy to this very day. Rest easy, Mean Gene! 👍
More manager and announcer and specific match or item bios!?
Maybe a history of the steel chair as a weapon? Times its been used to change belts? Or break up tag teams, or cause heel turns or inadvertently start fueds. Those important moments involving a steel chair hit? Legit accidental injuries from steel chair hits? A big topic, I would think.
I grew up watching the AWA. So many memories. Mean Gene was so good then but obviously got so much better. Not many interviewers can outshine his interview subjects but Mean Gene did. He still made the guests look good. RIP. A true legend
I totally agree. He was the Howard Cosell of wrestling. I loved everything he did. There is a video on RUclips that shows outtakes of his. It is so funny. I recommend it to all of his fans!!
He was such a Superstar like HULK HOGAN, MACHO MAN etc. awesome Video and Bio ;-)
Been looking forward to seeing this one. Thank you
My favorite Mean Gene moment is his part in Ready to Rumble.
"Do people think I'm sexy?"
I think you're sexy Mean Gene. Really I do"
Lol. I always loved Mean Gene. RIP.
I cannot imagine the wrestling world without the iconic MGO!!! RIP Legend
I grew up watching Mean Gene in the 90s he was truly the best at what he did. Living legend loved all his interviews and promos!
No one will ever be better than Mene Gene.
No one is better and no one will ever replace him.
Mean Gene will always be 1 of my all time favorite part of watching WWF as a kid in the late 80s & 90s!
There was a small burger chain located on US military bases called Mean Gene's Burgers.
I been 2 Brookings. Sad i never got a chance to meet Gene, i was a huge fan of his.
That’s really amazing to see those videos that are also tributes to the guys who were part of our childhood. I sometimes watch them “with a tear in my eye” like one wise man would say. Thanks for your work🙏
Part of my childhood is gone 😔... Thanks soo much Mean Gene for all the great memories R.I.P... Never Forget

nicely done, mean gene was a huge part of wrestling when i first started watching it, to quote the man himself 'they broke the mould when they made this man'
I love you so much for making this, thank you soooo much!
Much, much respect and love for, the one and only, "Mean" Gene Okerlund! I looked forward to his interview segments, especially those geared towards the local market, as much as I did the actual wrestling itself. I can't say that about any other wrestling announcer. One of my favorite Christmas gifts that I ever received was a "Mean" Gene LJN WWF figure back in '86. Thank you for all of the awesome, Wonderful memories, Mr. Okerlund, Sir. Fly easy, Legend. 🙏
Almost just as popular as the wrestlers in 3 organizations in 3 different decades.
1970s AWA
1980s WWE
1990s WCW
True legend in the business and behind the scenes.
Mean Gene was a really cool dude. He was perfect for the wrestling business!
Most excellent! Thank you for making this.
When Spike TV showed WWE Confidential and Mean Gene hosted it, I knew it was going to be a great show. I really miss that show.
He graduated college at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln where they still celebrate Mean Gene day!
So far one of my favorite episodes you've done
Rest well we all miss you Mean Gene.
My Saturday morning as a kid was always with mean gene and the wwf characters
I met Mean Gene at a Minneapolis bar in 1985 and he was wonderful to talk to and even bought a round of beers for us. This video is a great tribute to a genuinely nice person. #RIPmeangene
My heros are those of the past! Guys like Mean Gene, Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, Owen Heart, Curt Henning, Rick Rude, Bam Bam Bigelow, Hercules Hernandez, Mr. Wonderful, Randy Savage along with Sensational Sherri and Miss Elizabeth and many others!
You have a stellar library to enjoy!
"Oh let me tell you something Mean Gene"- Hulk Hogan
what about heel Hogan who used to call him "Scheme Gene"
Another great video man! Love your stuff
Brother, your content is normally kick ass and entertaining, this one is phenomenal. Good stuff. You got me in the nostalgias. Mean Gene is the best announcer hands down. My favorite. Hat's off! Cheers!
The WWE could NEVER make anything close to as good as this Biography of the GREAT Mean Gene Okurland and I for one tip my hat to you mate for such an outstanding biography,Thank you very much for making this 👏👏👏🍻👍✌
During the 80's and early 90's, Mean Gene Okerlund and Howard Finkel were the voices of the WWF. I loved them both so much!!
This is crazy! i've been watching your channel forever and for some reason I decided to have one last beer and watch the Mean Gene episode and you ended up mentioning my Grandpa Al DeRusha (saying the name properly and all) Love your channel and will be a life long fan!
Mean Gene was the best at what he did ever. Thanks for the great video guys appreciate it.
His bloopers are pure gold
Finally a legendary one
Thank you for the video on mean gene.
I remember watching AWA with my grandma in the late 70s and she always referred to him as "my cute little man". RIP Mean Gene and Granny.
Awesome video, very well put together.
You make Monday’s better because we all know that Raw is tonight
I loved his 80s and 90s run in wwe and the vintage collection with him!
R.I.P mean gene!You are missed!
Thank you for the best of WWF.. will sure miss ya. Even in WCW..
Thank you for beign a part of my amazing Childhood RIP Mean Gene.
Mean Gene vs the brain interview.....always the best
He was indeed the Master of Ceremonies for the WWF.
There will never be anyone like him again...sadly missed
Yet another fantastic bio! Thank you
I have to say I just recently started getting back into wrestling again. So many of the RUclips channels just play hateful videos or point out what's wrong with this or 10 things the WWE doesn't want you to know about such and such... I'm glad I found this guy channel that seems to have nothing but respect for the old school wrestlers and all of his bios and miniature documentaries are always great and captivating even though he uses very little actual video footage
Mean Gene meant so much to me.
one of the reasons I enjoy watching old PPV's just to see the Mean Gene interviews..he was awesome
I remember when one of the wrestlers used to threaten to hit or rough him up he would say "Don't touch me or I will call my lawyer and sue you " classic Mean Gene line
The One And Only Mean Gene Okerlund!👑
Will always be remembered as a true staple of wrestling entertainment!
"PUT THAT CIGARETTE OUT" 🤣 can never resist for a video on the legend mean Gene
hats off to you!!! wonderful research and presentation.
One of the greatest interviewers in WWE and WCW history. Loved his stuff with Ric Flair
REST IN PEACE MEAN GENE! 💙
He really knew how to hide his addiction to alcohol because he was very professional and never bought his vices into his job the way a lot of other people did
Love ya Gene!
Shed a tear after watching this video. Thanks again for posting such great content!!
Mean Jean was just as amazing as any wrestler. He is an ICON and should be praised, and loved. My childhood was made better because of him. He is a hero in my book.
This is a beautiful tribute to a true icon of pro wrestling. Gene was a huge part of some of the best wrestling ever on tv.
Very good video great to watch thanks for the up load great work keep it up ok
This is really interesting. May he R.I.P
No one can touch Mean Gene's work! THANK YOU MEAN GENE!
Love your videos! Thank you so much! If I may make 1 request, Greg The HAmmer Valentine
Mean Gene Was and will ALWAYS be the best, bar none. He brought that special occasion vibe and sense of occassion that lifted everything to "must see" status! The ability to keep blatantly coked up steroid lunatics 'on point' in those interviews is a thing of beauty!
Mean Gene brother...
Tears in my eyes and a big smile on my face!!!
Great video! Class act all the way.
As a lifelong wrestling fan that grew up in the 80s, I can say it was an honor to watch Mean Gene do his thing. Absolute LEGEND!!!!! LOVE YA MEAN GENE OKERLAND!!!!!!
Great video and great to hear some Irish accents producing quality content
