  • Wrestling Lists Presents - The Life and Career of Ravishing Rick Rude
    While being an incredibly gifted technician in the ring, Ravishing Rick Rude could work the crowd up like no one else. In an era where being a heel meant you had to be oversized and screaming into the cameras, Rick was the epitome of the guy you loved to hate as he claimed he was better than us inner-city sweathogs . What makes Rick Rude even greater than most was he had the ability to back up everything he said. A natural heel who had an incredible career in professional wrestling, this is the story of Ravishing Rick Rude.
    This mini documentary from Wrestling Lists looks at Rick Rude's time in Memphis, his early work in Jim Crockett Promotions, his debut in the WWF when Rick Rude joined Bobby Heenan and The Heenan Family, the Rick Rude vs Jake Roberts feud, the Royal Rumble super posedown which led to the Ultimate Warrior vs Rick Rude feud, Rick Rude's time in WCW, his winning of the WCW International Heavyweight Championship, his return to the WWF and DX, and the time he showed up on both WWF Raw and WCW Nitro on the same night.

    The fact Rick Rude finished that last match with Sting after injuring his back is nothing short of super-human. The guy was an absolute beast. I enjoyed his gimmick sooo much as a kid. He made us all laugh at his antics. One of the best if not THE best heels ever and a phenomenal in ring performer. He had it all. Rest in Peace Rick

      Nah Shawn Michaels gimmick was a lot similar to Rick Rudes. A cocky dude who thought he was gods gift to wrestling and women but could back it up in the ring like the dude in the video says. Sometimes I think Rick insprired Michaels gimmick and we did find Rick Rude years later in DX. He was technically the first member as he was in insurance policy Shawn claimed to have been paying for protection and that's when Rude provided Shawn Michaels with Helmsley and Chyna for back up lol those 4 were D-Generation X before D-Generation X was cool!

    • @robertd9000
      @robertd9000 5 лет назад +5

      @REDz Rum If you like DiBiase as a heel in WWF, look up his heel work in Mid-South Wrestling prior to going with Vince. His turn on JYD over the North American title is classic. He was a huge fan favorite at the time and with the way Bill Watts ran his territory, it always seemed like a real deal shoot. I recall DiBiase having a seperate dressing room because the fan favorites hated him for turning on JYD and he wasn't accepted by the heel locker room either. I've seen him live in Biloxi, MS more times than I can count and with the heat he had at that time, the police had to escort him out of the building for a year or so. He was the original "in the middle" guy neither fan favorite or total heel like Steve Austin was when he came up with the "stone cold" gimmick.

    I wish I got to witness Rick Rudes prime but I was only a baby I didn't get to get into Rick Rude till I was about 12 years old and WOW, was I captivated. He had one of the best gimmicks, looks and he was an amazing performer. The match with Rude and Sting that was showcased in this video is one of my favorites ever. Incredible talent who paved the way for so many wrestlers and their "Ladies Man" gimmick.

    One of the best heels of that generation and beyond. Even though he was heel, he was so good on the mic and in the ring, I loved to hate him. I didn't follow WCW back in the early 90's so im looking forward to watching through his title runs.

    Hulk Hogan was extremely jealous of Rick Rude and did his best to try and bury him when he joined then WWF. Rick Rude was a noted family man who was completely opposite of the gimmick he portrayed and was good friends with A LOT of wrestlers. Hulk Hogan’s gimmick (being this wholesome family guy who encouraged people to say their Prayers and take their vitamins) was exactly how Rick Rude was as a real person outside of the ring. The Ravishing Rick Rude gimmick was more inline with how Hulk Hogan was really like, as a real person outside of the ring. Rest In Peace to the Ravishing One.🙏🤍

    I feel like it would have been good for him to be able to cut promos even if he was injured just like how we do that with wrestlers now. Even put him on commentary that would have been good to instead of just making him stay at home or make him do absolutely nothing with the talents that he was gifted with.

    The overly cocky entrance and then the wild gesturing in fear in every match would be enough to seal the deal for me but then everything he did in between was so accurate and slick, and he was in such ridiculously excellent condition it made him an all time great. Every match of his was entertaining
