  • Wrestling Bios Presents - The Life and Career of Bobby "The Brain" Heenan
Bobby Heenan was a comedic genius, a very entertaining commentator, a devious yet charming heel manager, and one of the most influential figures in all off professional wrestling. To say that Heenan was just a manager or an announcer puts a limit on what he could do. Heenan was an entertainer at a level that few people in the wrestling business have ever been at.
This video looks at Heenan's time in the AWA, his brief stay at Georgia Championship Wrestling, his debut in the WWF, The Heenan Family which saw Bobby Heenan manage some of the all time WWE greats such as Rick Rude, Mr. Perfect, Andre The Giant, Arn Anderson, Nature Boy Ric Flair and more. We cover Bobby The Brain Heenan as a commentator and his excellent work with Gorilla Monsoon on WWF Prime Time Wrestling. The video also covers Bobby's departure from the WWF and his debut in WCW, his issues with WCW commentator Tony Schiavone and WCW management in general, his return to the WWE and his induction into the Hall of Fame, and details about his passing.
Just like the previous Ravishing Rick Rude and Mr. Perfect videos found on my channel, putting some people's careers into RUclips videos like this can never do the subject justice. Trying to convery, in words, just how good and entertaining Bobby "The Brain" Heenan was is impossible. But I can certainly try, in this mini documentary, to go through some of Heenan's career highlights.
As mentioned in the video, here is the link to the announcement Bobby Heenan made on WCW regarding his friend Gorilla Monsoon: • Bobby Heenan says good...

Natural stage presence, and perfect comedic timing propelled Heenan into what possibly may be the greatest character pro wresting has ever seen. Even with all his health problems later in life, Heenan maintained his sense of humor & quick wit. We'll never see a bird flipped like Bobby "The Brain" Heenan again.

By far the best vid to date. Heenan has to go down as the best manager of all time. Watching him chase his tail in the weasel suit was priceless. A true legend of the game. Wrestling is worse off without him. Great vid my friend.

Bobby was pure Gold. There will never, ever be another like him. I have come to really enjoy watching matches were his stable was involved in them. Just wished that someone would have thought about having Rude and Perfect as a tag team. Think about how devastating they would have been.

In my opinion, not only was Bobby the best manager & commentator, but also the best natural talker that the industry has ever seen & ever will.
The man was quite literally a genius. He knew the business better than maybe anyone else, period. He knew how to draw heat, come off incredibly smart but still come off as a bumbling fool because he was after all a Heel.
He was, truly, a once in a lifetime talent. Thank you for this amazing tribute as well. I'll often go back & just binge Heenan stuff for hours at a time.

Mere words cannot begin to express how much I miss Bobby & Gorilla. My favorite part of his Hall of Fame speech was when he said, "I wish Monsoon was here". He wasn't the only one. They were truly best buddies 4-ever. I miss them both so much.

A truly amazing individual, he bought so much to the world of wrestling. As a manager he added an extra dimension to matches, he was so much more than a just a face at ring side. His commentary is legendary and I have to agree that along with Gorilla he formed the best commentary duo ever in WWF. Fondly remembered and sadly missed. Another great video, thank you.

You are right.... as a kid growing up I used to hate him but as an adult I actually see now that he was a brilliant heel manager and loud mouth.... watching some of the old wrestling matches and his commentating is comical. Bobby Heenan was one of a kind. In all aspects of the word he was a legend of wrestling, a true great. Growing up my childhood was full of bobby telling me how much hogan sucked! The guy made wrestling come alive for me. And I knew he had passed away but I didn't know just how much his condition had ravaged him. At 46 years of age and having a life full of seeing people die in ways before their time. Seeing the images of bobby at the end of his time just made me cry. God bless you Bobby Heenan.... and thankyou!!

Heenan originated the weasel suit gimmick in a program with Greg Gagne in the AWA. Incredibly popular.
Heenan’s best move inside the ring was the crazy flip he’d do when Irish whipped into the turnbuckle where you would never know what position he’d be in after he stopped tumbling around.

I remember in the 80s how I loved Randy Savage in the ring and Jess and Mcmahon commentating, but the brain was allways there, no matter if it was as manager or as funny commentator. The guy loved his work and respected other people, even though he probably was smarter than most of them.

But as you put it so eloquently, I got older and grew to appreciate the genius of the man. A real treasure to not just the wrestling business but entertainment in general.
