  • Wrestling Bios Presents - The Life and Career of Brian Christopher
Most would remember Brian Lawler, son of Jerry "The King" Lawler, as Grandmaster Sexay in the WWE. Most fans will also remember Grand Master Sexay teaming up with Scotty 2 Hotty and Rikishi to make up the Too Cool stable in the WWF. Fans who had access to the USWA in the 90s though would remember Too Sexy Brian Christopher, one of the most succesful superstars to ever walk into the territory. While Brian would bring the Too Sexy heel gimmick to WWE, it wasn't until he sported the goggles and began dancing with Scotty and Rikishi that he began making decent money within Vince McMahon's promotion. The Too Cool tag team in the WWE would go on to become very popular during the attitude era.
Many aren't aware of just how popular Brian Christopher was in the USWA. So succesful was Brian, that he had to use a little red wagon to bring his championship gold around with his so he didnt hurt his back from all the weight of the belts. In total, Brian Christopher won a staggering 44 championships in the USWA, with 24 of these being world title reigns. In the WWE, Christopher was used to launch the Light Heavyweight division, and from there, he captured tag team gold while in the Too Cool team.
In this mini documentary video from Wrestling Bios, we look at The Life and Career of Brian Christopher. Included topics:
    - The formation of the USWA
    - Brian Christopher's debut in the USWA as part of The Twilight Zone and New Kids tag teams
    - The USWA / WWF Relationship
    - Jeff Jarrett and Brian Christopher in USWA
    - The Brian Christopher WWE debut
    - Brian working alongside Scott Taylor to form the Too Much tag team
    - The WWE debut of Too Cool and Rikishi joining the faction
    - Grandmaster Sexay getting released from the WWE, then rehired for a short time
    - Brian's life after the WWE and much more

I'll always remember 3 moments in particular from Brian's time in WWE
    1) The Light Heavyweight tournament final vs Taka. Underrated match.
    2) The Royal Rumble 2000 match when Too Cool stopped the whole match to dance.
    3) When a heel Too Cool team defeated Al Snow and Head by using a bottle of "Head and Shoulders" shampoo to pin Head LMFAO.... "He pinned Head! It had shoulders!" hahahahahaha

Dude was over big time, and yea, everyone knew he was Jerry's son, it just didn't matter because he was that good, unlike Jeff Jarrett who got big off his daddy's name. I loved the Grandmaster Sexay/Too Cool gimmick, but he could have been pushed to the moon. It's a damn shame the WWE never did more with him. I really enjoyed the interaction, and even put his match with Taka Michinoku on the TV screens as I told him how much I remember the match and some of the spots in it, and he claimed to have never watched it back. Seemed a very fun-loving fella, and he was very pleased to talk wrestling, although I could clearly see his toxic relationship with alcohol was very real. It's very painful whenever I see a promising talent languish within a short period of time.

Too Cool was a part of my Time with the WWF and I have very fond memories of those three dorks hamming it up in the ring. I was never Aware of how accomplished Brian was _long_ before he put those goggles on and White Boi Danced his way into our Homes and Hearts. That Little Red Wagon alone is mind boggling and giving back half of his pay is just Classy af. It's a shame he came to the End that he did, but I'm glad folks like you are around to archive and retell these stories.
Thank you for reminding me of how Brilliantly Stupid and Stupidly Brilliant Pro Wrestling is. You do good work.

.R.I.P. Brian you where an extremely talented wrestler. Unforntualy I think his demons just caught up with him and I think the only reason why Jerry was in denial about what happened is because he probably felt guilty for not bailing him out and instead thinking that a bit time spent in jail might just be the wake up call that he needed to sort himself out but I think that no matter where he had been that night he would've still hung himself. God rest his soul I hope he's at peace now.

Have you taken a moment to look into the evidence that has been presented on this case? Jerry is NOT in denial. Jerry has questions as anyone does that looks at the photos and any other information that has come out about this case. There are just too many things that do not make sense. We should be upset if he didn't ask questions. They took Jerry to the cell where he supposedly hung himself but they would not show him WHERE specifically it happened. Jerry could not understand how someone could be suspended in that area like the police statement had reported. Why wouldn't they answer that question? Why have they not given Jerry any information and we are nearly at one year since it happened. A suspended hanging can be proven with a quick x-ray showing elongated vertebrae. If he really was suspended?! The photos you will see of the ligature mark around his neck does not look like there was a suspended hanging of a 230 pound man for 6-8 minutes. A man that is trying to kill himself does not put his hand between the ligature and his neck to try and release the pressure. You can easily see this is what he done before he died. The only people denying anything in this entire case is the officers at the jail and the investigation covering it up. Brian had his problems but dying in his jail cell that day should not have been one of them. WE CANNOT FORGET ABOUT THIS CASE UNTIL THESE QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED. All me or Jerry is asking for is something to make sense from the information that we have been given. We owe that to Brian. If they can do this to him, they can do this to anyone.

I feel terrible for Jerry in this situation. He had every reason to not bail Brian out of jail, and I feel like some of us would do the same if we were in his shoes. There's no way he knew this would happen though, and he probably blames himself because he was just trying to get through to Brian that he couldn't keep bailing him out.

That is a simplified statement that would normally cover someone in these circumstances. It just does not apply to Brian and Jerry and what really happened. There is just more to this story that is being covered up.

I grew up watching USWA in Memphis, and I met Brian and Jeff Jarrett many times over the years at the shows. They were both awesome, but there was definitely a difference in the way they were treated by the promotion. I watched Brian for years before I even knew he was Lawler's son, while Jarrett was main eventing pretty much as soon as he got there. Jarrett was treated like a god in USWA, while Brian had to fight his way to the top just like everyone else. It was fun watching both of them succeed. USWA was a great promotion. It is a shame they did not have the financing, and were unable to change with the times. I miss it.

To be honest I’ve heard stories of where cops well c/o’s that work in the jail , depending on how you are acting in jail they set you up if your getting on their nerves and disruptive, they’ll set you up to where they wrap something around your neck and if you lean forward to much you’ll just end up hanging , and the jail c/o’s we’ll say he just committed suicide , 🤦‍♂️ the cops especially in a jail are hella crooked !!

And i could see Brian being really obnoxious after his dad didn’t bail him out if he was still drying out.
