The Career of The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase

  • The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase was an iconic heel wrestler during the WWF Golden Era. The character portrayed by Dibiase was nothing short of brilliant, using his great wealth to practically get his own way at any given oppurtinity. Ted Dibiase was a natural villain and I do feel he was just as instrumental in WWE's early success when compared to the the likes of Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior. The Million Dollar Man laugh and his theme music are both totally iconic.
In this mini documentary from Wrestling Bios, we look at the career of Ted Dibiase. Topics covered in this video include:
    - Ted Dibiase's upbringing and his reasons for getting into wrestling
    - Dibiase working in the Georgia and Mid South regions
    - The Ted Dibiase WWF debut along with the early vignettes showing his Million Dollar Man gimmick
    - The Million Dollar Man challenging members of the audience to complete tasks for monetary gain
    - His work against Hulk Hogan and teaming with Andre The Giant
    - The debut of The Million Dollar Championship belt
    - Virgil and the inevitable turn that saw Virgil become a good guy
    - Ted Dibiase forming the Money Inc Tag Team along with IRS
    - The Million Dollar corporation and Ted Dibiase introducing his own Undertaker in 1994
    - Ted Dibiase leaving the WWE to join WCW and the nWo
    - And much more!
    #wrestling #wwe #documentary
Dibiase also has to be applauded for his brutal honesty in the years that followed his in-ring career. He has never been one to hold back and he has been very open about his opinions, both on a professional and personal level. Something that is sometimes lacking in the usually covered world of pro wrestling. Dibiase in later life, I feel, is a great example of someone who made his quality of life better by being a man and owning up to his mistakes.
So in this video, lets take a look at the career of The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase.

Ted Dibiase should have been a World Champion for at least one time, you know like Iron Sheik and Stan Stasiak. Ted is a legit heel and he could be enjoying a good world title reign that could last until the next show where he would lose the belt to guys like Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan

Sadly, much like with Mr. Perfect (who also should've been champion at least once), I can't help but feel that Hogan didn't want to put him over. As a kid, I wouldn't have liked The Million Dollar Man (or Perfect) as the Heavyweight champ, but I was a kid so I loved Hogan. As an adult, it was robbery that neither of those 2 had a run because of Hogan.

Yeah, but the match at Summerslam was horrible.

Taker at that time was more zombie like and morbid. That match 5 years later would have been more exciting.

@@derekborba9574 The morbid zombie was his best period of wrestling. The build up to the match was excellent, the match itself was horrible, maybe it would have been better a few years after that, I don't know. The arena was awkwardly silent during that match.

My mother used to work at a hotel where the wrestlers would stay she talked about how nice this one wrestler was and how he would bring her a coffee. Me and my brother in law were watching wrestling one day and my mom pointed at Mr Dibiase and said that's the man she was talking about played a villian but is an amazing human being.

I don't recall you mentioning his run in the UWF. He & Dr. Death Steve Williams were Tagteam partners & I believe champions.

Late 80s to early 90s WWF will always be my favorite. Ted was one of the best heels and great worker. Ted Dibiase, Rick Rude and Curt Hennig are my all time favorites

Of all the great things Dibiase did, one that always stays with me is when he was thrown out of the ring he would bounce off the top rope to fly out with his feet waaaaaaaay in the air.

I went out for Halloween as Ted Dibiase in the early to mid 90’s. Great video as always! How about one on Man Mountain Rock! Lol
