The first thing I would do, I am know very little about skidoos, except they are very fast these days, is disassemble the reed valves from the reed cage, Sand the cage perfectly horizontal flat, then sand the reeds themselves using 1200 grit 3m wet sandpaper on a marble slab or other perfectly flat surface. By tuning the reeds and reed cage in any application, you can gain 1-2000 rpm top end and super crisp throttle response thru out the entire power range. No disrespect intended. Great video and 5 stars. RH DSD
It sucks when they are round slides and you cant ever get them even enough to stick the air box on. I'm a big fan of the mikuni flat slides that are paired together.
old reeds can be good if they are just cracked on the outside , if its okay on the inside and no air pass your okay , but its better to change them , i have a formula 3 96 and my reeds are cracked just on the outside , get no lean but i will change them soon
wow, just binged the series on this build, great series. I am also in Ontario. Where do you buy your chassis and other Doo parts? With covid, shipping to the USA and picking them up is a no go.
Do you have an A&P? Thanks dont own a sled and havent been on one in 10 years or so.. but looking to get one in the coming summer and get into a reliable condition for the colorado rockies. sweet videos!
My buddy bought a sled blown up and we tore into it and found that the guy had put some glue on top of the boot bc it had cracked and that blew up the sled. Now we r on the search for a new reed lol😂😂
I have an irwin extendable screwdriver with a multi tip head...works like a charm for pulling my carbs off my 500ss!!!

No problems with out installing the reed spacer? My kit said to use the stock reed spacer with the vforce 3 reeds

What are the symptoms of bad Reeds? I have a low rpm stumble on my sled and was wondering if it could be a cracked petal or something
if the old reed boots are stuck to the block, how to i pry them off?
Would u recommend v force reeds or boyesen now that you have used both. I ask bc I currently have v force 3 reeds and thought about switching.
Great vid. I am new to snowmobiling do all sleds have reeds? I got a 95 arctic cat zr440 and am wondering if it has them or not. Thanks
They do, all carbureted models, like yours have reeds. You will find them in the same location as on the motor in this video.
