    Hi, I just moved into a house which has a six zone monoprice amplifier. I managed to connect my living room tv to the system with an optical cable since my amplifier is next to my tv. My sound is working. But evertime a video or anything is started or ended, I hear a pop sound. How do I get rid of it. Also is it possible to control the sound from my tv remote ? I have another tv in my master bedroom. How do I connect that tv to this amplifier or sound to my speakers in my bedroom. I see that the wall has a blue plug like a lan plug. Appreciate your guidance greatly.

    So, you would have that second hub completely inside the wall since the long yellow Ethernet cable you have is connected to the backside of hub 1 and the other end of it connected to the front of hub 2? I have a scenario that would work perfect for this but somehow I think that second hub will need to fit entirely inside wall to look nice I guess.

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад

      In my case i'm not putting the hubs inside the wall, I put my keypad hubs in on-wall extra deep boxes. The cable will come out of the back of that expansion port, go inside the wall into my attic, then down my garage into the basement and then into the front of the next keypad hub, which will be mounted on another extra deep on-wall box!

    Great, video. I had no idea who you could that with an extra keypad hub. Do you have any idea what method of communication those keypads are using as those hubs don't have an IC's. Is it just a serial connection w/ power? Asking as I forgot to run a cable and now need to share my keypad over another ethernet cable using 10/100 ethernet (uses only 4 wires of Cat6). Can I use the 4 remaining wires for one of these keypads and get away with it?

  • @sagetx

    I missed this video. GOOD CONTENT!
    Ok I've got to pick your brain one more time. So to hook up 12 zones, 1-6 go to the hub then out to the Master amp - each dip switched discreetly to 1-6, Then 7-12 go to the next hub. NOW do those go to that cascading port into the first hub, or directly the first slave amp? Is there a new dip switch scheme for 7-12? I think this may solve my problem.
    That first test you did looks like what is happening to my keypads. Sorry I can't test - I'm not home very often.

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад +2

      So you don't have to cascade the keypad hubs, if that is not needed for your install. I would say most people probably do not or have never done this. Keypads 7-12 must be plugged into their amp, and keypads 13-18 into their respective amp etc. How i've always done the multiple amp installs, is that keypads 7-12 go into their hub, which is then plugged into the slave amp, and i've never used any hub cascading until now. But yes to answer your question, keypads 1-6 use those dip switches to address each of them as 1 through 6. Then keypads 7 - 12 you address them as 1 through 6 again (1 means zone 7, 2 means zone 8 etc), and the slave amp that they are plugged into knows what it is supposed to control. So yes make sure your zones 7-12 are plugged into your slave amp, and that they are going into your slave! Thanks for watching

    Hey thanks for the great content. However, even with the discount, these units are still almost twice the cost of the Monoprice version. How is the cost difference justified?

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад

      I have a comparison video on my channel, but when you add in monoprices tax and shipping which is expensive, plus you get the 2 wireless streamers, the app control module built in, the cost difference really comes down to a few hundred dollars. For me and many, a few hundred dollars is easy to justify when you get less cables (cleaner looking install), and a company that's actually investing into these products instead of a reseller (monoprice) my 2 cents tho!! Thanks for watching I appreciate it!

    I would like to do a 7.1 in wall surround sound system into the living room.

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад +1

      Yes, it is possible. I actually have already recorded a video that will discuss this topic. It is possible through those pre-amp outputs which are on the back for each zone. The video that i will be uploading soon, it will be titled something like "How to get 3, 4 speakers & more in 1 zone". Something like that, so stay tuned, it will be up probably this week. In a nutshell though, the way it works is that when using the pre-amp outputs, that gets hooked into the source input of another amp, or in your case your home theater amp. When using pre-amp outputs, you do not hook speakers into the back of the soundavo ws66i / monoprice / dax66 amp. Because the pre-amp output is saying you are using a separate amp, to power that partiuclar zone. the pre-amp output will pass all the source data, volume EQ etc into the external amp, and then that external amp is what is powering the speakers (you surround sound in this example). So your keypad for that zone will still work, and the volume, source selection, EQ etc will all still work.

      @@TheKMZ1 can't wait for this video.
      I'm excited to install the 7.1 system as well as whole home audio. Would it be possible to also play the surround sound audio on other zones in the system? Such as the kitchen or dining room in addition to the surround sound playing in the living room? Does that make it apart of the surround sound (9.1 etc)

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад +1

      @@swiftcreek2008 It's probably possible to play the audio coming out of the surround sound as a source into the WS66i yes. But no, that does not make it part of your surround sound. Any source coming into the WS66i can only be output as Left and Right stereo, and that's it. I would suggest that you don't try to use the WS66i as a surround sound, as that's not what this amp is designed for. For example, if I have a TV as a source in the WS66i, and I am able to play the TV audio in my outside speakers, that doesn't make it surround sound, because this amp does not, and cannot differentiate between what surround sound really is, which is front left, front right, center, back left, back right, etc etc. This amp has stereo Left and Right and that's it. So while you can achieve being able to have TV or movie audio come in as a WS66i source, it's not a part of any surround sound, it's just another audio source that can be tuned into and listened to. When using the pre-amp outs, if you want your surround sound speakers to be a zone, that really means you are wanting to also use your surround sound speakers to listen to music out of...BUT when it comes time to play a movie or TV, you would be switching your surround sound source OFF of the input where those pre-amp RCA cables are plugging into. Example, your pre-amp out from WS66i goes into your surround sound amp's SA/CD RCA Input. When you want to have that be as part of your whole home audio for listening to music, your surround amp will be to be on that source. BUT when it comes time for a movie, you will want to change the surround sound source, to your TV / HDMI / whatever other source that movie audio is coming from. It would no longer be tuned into SA/CD input. So there will be some source switching on your surround sound depending on when it's time for it to be part of the whole home audio, and when it is time for it to be an actual surround sound. Hopefully this makes sense

    • @swiftcreek2008
      @swiftcreek2008 3 года назад

      @@TheKMZ1 i think i get it. The surround sound aspect would be separate from the whole home audio. I understand the stereo audio.
      Where would my surround sound system receiver be part of the system for when its not movie time?

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад +1

      @@swiftcreek2008 when it's not movie time, the surround sound amp still powers the speakers. When you use those pre amp outputs of the soundavo, you are basically passing along everything to that other external amp... the music source, volume, EQ, all goes into that input of your surround amp via the RCA cables (red and white) that connect the soundavo to the surround amp. So the soundavo for that particular zone will not have speakers hooked up to it, the surround sound amp gets the data via the RCA cables and the surround sound amp will power the speakers. So if that surround amp is not on, or if it's on, but not tuned to the right Source input, then you won't get sound. Many high end amps have a HT bypass (home theater bypass) or "direct in", or direct line in, all these names are the same, what it does is anything coming into that input will bypass the signal processing of the surround sound amp, and will play at 100% volume. That's because these inputs are for this exact reason, it means the signal incoming will provide the EQ, volume adjustments etc. So it simply bypasses the signal through the amp unaltered. But, most consumer home theater amps don't have the HT bypass. So therefore, you would just use an input such as satelite or CD input. Yes, these input types still go through signal processing of the home theater amp, so you'll have to adjust some settings/EQ probably, and volume to find the right balance.

      It has 7 because the 7th port is a "cascading" port meaning you could buy another keypad hub, and you could run an ethernet cable between the 2 keypads connecting the keypads together. Doing it like this allows the keypads to be in different parts of the house, so it could help you run shorter cable runs from your keypad back to a hub.

I am having an issue where my keypads will have power, but they don't turn on and cannot control the amplifier. I've checked and double checked all the ethernet cables. I'm running cat6 and they are all tested. The dip switches are set to the proper zones. I simply cannot get some of them to turn on. The only difference between what is in the manual and my installation is that the cables are wired with 568b ethernet vs what it specifies, 568a. Do you think this is making a difference? One last question you might know because it's a little more advanced. In all my bedroom I put a A/B in wall speaker selector button. I did this so I could either hit this button and my speakers in each bedroom could be connected to the whole home audio, or they could be controlled by a device like a surround sound so you can play the Audio from the TV without using all the "Sources" on the whole home audio unit. This works great but I'm looking for a button of some type I can control from my phone.. So many times we get in bed and forget to hit the button so we can hear our TV in the speakers above our bed. It would be nice to be able to control that via a smart device, without getting out of bed. lol talk about lazy.. here is the push button I have. encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/shopping?q=tbn:ANd9GcTHl79Eyl9SuDZTewutLGAr9Dc3wdhz6vfnaRoidUZvdh00qxGvBNRftWviXx7aDLriGNL5JoMkleKX8DK1-MSZIOGX9-kG-PMGFxxQjSlLoz-U51fEcZrGO7AYNBc&usqp=CAE

      Maybe you are misunderstanding what I'm saying, so any zone, can select any source, that is not a problem. But you can't control 1 zone from 2 keypads, it just doesn't work. So think of a 3 way switch in a house that is at the top of the stairs and the bottom of the stairs, they control the same light. That's what I'm saying in this video, you can't have 2 keypads for zone 1. The mobile app would be the best bet to control it I suppose from 2 locations. But if you have 1 keypad, changing the source to any of the 6 sources is not a problem at all, that's how it's designed!! Thanks for watching
