    You will need to buy the iTach Flex IP by Global Cache: amzn.to/2Noa0BP
    They also have an iTach Flex WiFi Version here if you want WiFi model: amzn.to/31YKLLF
    You need this also (IT MUST BE THEIR BRAND Global Cache): amzn.to/2JADv2d
    In this video I demonstrate how to wirelessly control the monoprice 6 zone 6 source whole home audio amp / the dayton audio dax66 whole home audio amp using an ipad. Many people ask how to control these amps over your network without touching the keypads. This video will explain how to do that. Please keep in mind that currently there is not a good android app out there, so if you can, please use an apple device with this app.
    iPhone app: itunes.apple.c...
    The reason you have to buy the serial cable, is because the iTach device has other adapters that you can use with it, and their device is not exclusively built for RS232 only.

    Thank you so much for taking the time to share your setup with us and how you made it all work. Incredible to me that in the year 2020 this is the only technology available to create audio throughout the home. Amazing you adapted technology that was created in 1969 (rs232 serial) to work with today’s technology. Why why why are they still building amps with this antiquated methodology. Insane how complicated they make it by using such dated ways. Thanks for your help!! You should be commended!

    All taken care of. My fault with not re-setting the Flex settings after I did a default reset to the iTach. One thing to also take note is to make sure your Monoprice unit is set to "master". Mine was set to Slave 2 by the factory and caused one last connection issue which TheKMZ1 solved in about 45 seconds after I sent an email. Great response times and great App. VERY IMPRESSED!

    This app is awesome. Please read all updates.
    I purchased the app and have Samsung Smart things nested hubs (4) and the global cashe doesn't recognize the device on the computer screen. I have a different name for my Samsung hubs and it is different from the router. Any advice would be appreciated. I used the ihelp exe but it never recognizes it on the Samsung.
    Update: I called the support for Global Cashe and they were able to help me get the Samsung Smart things nest network to work with this app. They were very helpful and solved the problem identifing a bad ethernet cable. Great company with great support. Hats off to Garrett. I plugged the Global Cashe into the mesh network hub and it worked perfectly. Then I was blown away with the capabilities of the app. I have 12 zones and 4 nest hubs. I can now control the whole house with one app on my phone. Awesome.
    Update Number 2: I have several smart switches and dimmers on my system. I use the smartthings hubs(4) so that I could get the Internet in the whole house. I added a switch which conflicted with the IP address of the global cache itach and the app crashed. The switch bumped the IP address of the global cache and it did not work any more. To solve the problem I cleared the cache and data from my phone in the apps memory, first. To do this you need to go to settings on your phone and then go to device care and then to storage. Go to Apps then click on audio control and then storage. Delete the data and the cache. Then I deleted the app. Then i opened ihelp from the Global cache website and changed the IP address of the Global cache to 192.168.1.60. This was a number higher than any device on the LAN. (I used Advanced-IP-Scanner to find IP addresses) Then I changed the Global cache Iflex to a static port using ihelp and set the baud rate and stop bits. I downloaded a fresh copy of the app. Now the Global cache was set to 192.168.1.60 and the app found the IP and it started to work again. I had to put in all the descriptions over again but that was the least of the problems. I now know that I can fix the IP conflicts without any trouble. It is a good app but I think the bug needs to be fixed so that you don't lose the descriptions when the IP address of the Global Cache get corrupted. I am lost without this app.
    Update 3: I received word today from KMZ1 that the app bug was fixed. I updated the app and it works. Once you use this app you will be spoiled to a point you can't live without it. Thank you KMZ1 for fixing the app bug. Again this app is awesome. With the fix I am contemplating buying a second one for my wife. Well worth it.
    Update 4: I purchased a second Chromecast along with a second HDMI to RCA converter and it worked perfectly. I now have two independent sources that use Chromecast as sources to the DAX66. I then purchased a second Audio Control app from KMZ1 and the Android app store and now my wife can independently put her music on and I can listen to my smooth Jazz. I taught my wife how to use the app and she loves it. Now I am a happy camper. This app is Awesome.

  • @Jetpropbill
    @Jetpropbill 3 года назад

    To stream the audio from Pandora or google I used this device from Amazon.com hooked up to a Chrome cast. I plugged the Chromecast into this converter and it works perfectly. Then you just add chromecast to the speaker group that you want and you can control the audio to your Dax66 or monoprice by voice. I purchased a second one and another Chromecast and installed them. I added them to a separate speaker group so that I can use it as a second streaming source. See my other post on this thread 6 month older than this one.
    Now, I added a Kasa switch to the amplifier and can turn on and off the amp by voice. Once the amp is on, I can use this app to set the volume and source on all the speakers. I now have voice control over the amp's on and off. I can turn it on with my voice and set the source and volume with the app. Also because I use Chromecast with the HDMI to RCA adaptor, I can also control the input volume with my voice. Kayton, thank you very much for creating this app. It is the best app I have downloaded all year.

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  6 лет назад +3

      No you would not need to install the keypads. But what i would suggest, is that wherever you put the amplifier (say in a closet or utility room) i would recommend putting all of the keypads in that room. It would be very easy to install since you don't have to run wire in walls, and it would give you an extra place for you or someone else to control the volume. Always better to have a reliable backup in place!

    hey TheKMZ1, great video series on the Monoprice 6Zone amps and this wireless app setup. We gut renovated our house and wired the whole house for in-ceiling speakers. I ran Cat6 in most rooms to wire TV's and such, and some in ceiling CAT6 for for my Ubiquiti network, but not any for the keypads. I am planning to just control using the app. I have 25 in-ceiling speakers, 2 porch speakers, and a 5.2.2 setup in a media room. I'm planning to use two of the Monoprice 6 zone amps to power 25 of the speakers. Question for you is, have you found a good way to have the APP running on a mounted tablet so that you can use it in place of keypads? Also, have you found an app or Alexa skill that can be used to control the Monoprice amps (either via the GlobalCache adapter or otherwise)? Thanks. Great info on your channel!!

    • @michaelc6549

      Any 5.1 receiver would work once it has an analog (RCA) output, e.g. CD. Better yet if the receiver has a zone 2, you could use that output.

    Great videos bro. I am working in the cable run and the only problem with me right now is the sources . I think u have used rg6 coaxil cable witch is not available at all in Egypt the only one available here is that caoxil for cctv or rg59 for digital recievers. As you know it will be different in the diameter (RG6 VS RG59) IF if this cable will getbthe job done please enlighten me if not. you could suggest me something else for the sourcrs .
    Few days I think I have seen a video showing a bluetooth reciever in-wall plate, and if this can work with monoprice amp it would be cool. In Egypt the market is very limited and since my apartment is new i am working on the cable run in the basement I have this chance right now because by this month the contractor will finish the apartment and later i will not be able to do this, so now I am focusing on the cables and later I will purchase everything online

    Great Video about the ability to run the amplifier remotely. My monoprice 6 zone amp is on order but my question is will this application work for me if I do not have a "home network"? I do not plan to have a data provider install service to my cabin, so would I need some sort of wifi or bluetooth device to link the iTach to to receive streaming source data from like an apple iphone? Or does this iTach receive and convert as well? If not, I'd prefer wifi due to superior range over bluetooth. What would you recommend?

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  5 лет назад

      mbeanbag2 you do not need internet for the itach to work, you do need a "local network" though as you said. So you will still need a router, you might as well buy a cheap wifi/router combo on Amazon. However, you do not stream music to the itach. The itach is strictly for controlling the amps zones through the apple or android apps. To stream music to it you need a Chromecast or Bluetooth device plugged into the amp. The chromecast might need internet however.

I have seen several devices out there but not sure which one is the best. Distance 125 feet max. Any recommendations? Also have question on monoprice app, iTach Flex IP. • @TheKMZ1

      I assume you are talking about my new video of the WS66i amp, that one has 2 built in worked streamers, so you can simultaneously stream 2 separate things to any of the zones, but you can't stream wirelessly more than 2 since there's only 2 built in streamers. But if you wanted 6 different things playing, you would have to hook up the other 4 sources

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад

      No, my app is not designed in that way. Installing these in general, when you use 2 or even 3 amps, you would chain them together. So you would have a master, slave 1 and slave 2 amp. Using in this scenario would give you a 6 zone 6 source, or a 12 zone 6 source, or an 18 zone 6 source setup. If you chain them together like this, you only need 1 of the wireless adapters and my app can handle up to all 18 zones. But, if you want to keep the amps separated like you mentioned, no my app cannot handle it like that. By the way, check out my new video on my channel about the Soundavo WS66i ! It's a wonderful upgraded amp, and my app works directly with it. No adapter needed

    Hello, I really love your videos. I am in the process of building a new house and getting everything pre-wired. I have a few questions for you and dunno if you are able to help me.
    - How do I control each zone with Alexa? Do I need to hook an echo device at each input in the amp for each corresponding room?
    - I saw that now you have the Android version of the app in PlayStore. Is the android version stable or do we need to download the Apple version?
    - Once the Amp becomes wireless, is there a way to add Alexa Echo speakers wirelessly to the Amp ecosystem? My point is that I want to add Alexa control on each zone but if I have an echo input on the amp and then an echo dot in the room plugged to control voices, the echo dot itself becomes isolated from the Whole Home Audio and zoning.
    Not sure if I explained well what I meant. My point is that if there are some isolated speakers like Echos, how do we integrate and manage them as secondary independent speakers or grouped with all the other ceiling speakers in the same room?

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад

      Hey there. Right now, you can't control the zone with alexa, such as you cant say alexa, turn zone 1 off. However, you can use alexa to control the music. Because if alexa is an input source, you can say alexa go to the next song. Also, the echo dots have the 3.5mm audio output, so technically, you could tell alexa to turn up or down, and it would adjust the volume. BUT, that is just adjusting the signal going into the amp, which does work. Just keep in mind that is not technically adjusting the zone's volume. Yes, the android app has been stable for a long time, have you seen my new video here ruclips.net/video/VMUl4TANpmw/видео.html you might find this new WS66i amp better for your needs, it's a new upgraded model! My app does also work with this, it has the integrated app control built into it.
      Now, actually that you mentioned it, are you wanting 1 alexa dot, to only control each zone? So in other words you want each zone to be completely separate, with only it's alexa control? If so, there is a much better amp, and cheaper for you. It would be this Soundavo MZ series amp www.soundavo.com/collections/multi-channel-amplifiers this is the same company who re-built the new upgraded monoprice amp, very high quality. You can see I tested out the MZ series in this video ruclips.net/video/dVjiZeCCnqA/видео.html you can get 15% off of this amp if you used code TKMZ15
      Let me know if you have any questions

      @@TheKMZ1 First, thank you for replying so fast. So much appreciated.
      1. Basically, I was thinking of buying some Echo Inputs and hook each one to an input sources in the Amp (by 3.5mm or using splitters). Then I would assign each Input source to a specific corresponding zone allowing me to replicate all the zones in my Alexa App. The idea is to be able to say: "Alexa play music in the Kitchen". I wanted to have a Plex Server or OurJukeBox set up to play local music on a NAS just by talking to Alexa.
      2. Voice commands have limitations. Some music have no artist name, various artists or maybe japanese songs hard to control via voice commands. That's where a mobile app like yours or Soundavo would be awesome to play music from the local network.
      3. Now, I can have guests or myself who want me to play a local music from their phone.. not from the NAS. The Chromecast / Soundavo streaming seems to answer to that need.
      4. Last thing, if in one bedroom zone, my ceiling wires are hooked to the Amp in the basement which is now wifi connected as in the video or with the Soundavo, can I wirelessly connect the speakers to a new TV in that bedroom? Do I have to re-wire all the speakers behind the walls down to the Amp again? If there is an easy way to connect the ceiling speakers to the TV wirelessly through wifi, that would be awesome.
      5. I unfortunately already bought the DAX66 before finding your videos. I will need another Amp because I find myself having nearly 10-11 zones. Can I buy the Soundavo and make it the Master and expand the Dax66 on it as a slave?
      6. I was planning to have an AV Receiver in the Living Room zone to hook the TV, PS4 etc... and a 5.1 ceiling surround that would be Alexa and wifi compatible. Is this an overkill or valid? If so, anything you would recommend there that would integrate well in what I am trying to accomplish?
      Thank you

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  3 года назад +1

      Yes you can absolutely buy the soundavo ws66i, and use that as your master amplifier, and then use the DAX66 as your slave! Don't forget to use my code TKMZ to get yourself a good discount. 4) There is unfortunately no way to have wireless in ceiling speakers. 6) Don't confuse the whole home audio amps with surround sound amps. They are very different, so if you want surround sound you would need to use a surround sound amp for that. You can still have those speakers be a part of a zone though, by using the pre-amp outputs. But you need to decide, do you want actual 5.1 surround sound, or do you just want whole home audio. Having 5.1 surround sound is still very valid, some people want it, some people do not. Some people have theater rooms, and some do not. So it all depends on what you want, but the nice thing is that the pre-amp outputs allow you to include those in on a zone.

      Right now i don't know of any alexa or google home skill that can turn on/control the amp similar to how this ipad app controls it wirelessly. The only thing i can think of currently, is that on the alexa dot, it has an aux jack where you can hook it up to external speakers. That could be a source for the amp, but the problem is that you would have to have alexa still close enough that you could talk to it. And then you would have to leave the zone on in the kids room so when you had alexa turn on, it would immediately start playing.

    Still not able to connect. I'm thinking I'm missing something at the IP config page for the iTach Flex. I can find the unit with the iHelp tool and when I click on the network settings tab I'm basically just clicking "save" to the IP info that auto populated. Is that correct?

    • @TheKMZ1
      @TheKMZ1  5 лет назад +1

      No, once you use iHelp, just get the ip address and then use your computer, go to the web browser and type the IP address in. You will then be directed to the web admin page. From there you need to assign a static ip address to your unit so that it does not ever change anymore. You need to make sure that you assign it correctly so that it is in the address range that your router is giving out ip addresses. Most home routers are 192.168.1.X with the subnet being 255.255.255.0 and the gateway being the same ip address as your router...using my example above a lot are 192.168.1.1 again though you need to use whatever range your router is giving out

      @@TheKMZ1 I've assigned the static IP. The iTach shows up in my list of connected devices. I'm also able to hit the static IP and get to the iTach config page off of my computer, phone, and tablet. When I plug that IP into the app I get "Communication error! There's an issue communicating to the iTach device. Verify the IP Address in the Settings". That doesn't make sense as I'm able to hit the iTach from multiple devices through the static IP. The subnet and gateway were in line with you recommendation which I confirmed. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    So I have almost gotten everything dialed in. I have multiple sources (3 echo dots). I was getting feedback from my speakers once I hooked up the iTach. Then added the new echos and attempted to play music using the Amazon app and bluetooth to sync my phone and echos. I can't get music to stream through my speakers nor do I get any feedback anymore. Any ideas?

      Well it works now. I think there may have been a glitch in the app. The app gave me an option to select certain echos or stream everywhere. Once I selected everywhere the music streamed. Now it's streaming on each device as individual sources. I was really stuck and your videos helped me figure out the rest, so thank you!

      @@TheKMZ1 I’m using Spotify with 3 echos. I have the Monoprice 6-zone amp. I have two of them with 11 zones configured. When I play music on Spotify from my phone, it recognizes the echos. I select one of the devices, it streams music through the zones connected to that device. The problem I’m having is that I bought a new iPad to use for my house and I can’t seem to figure out how to get Spotify to recognize those devices on it. I did it 6 months ago for my phone but I’m drawing a blank now. I’m using the premium account for Spotify so that everyone can have their own login, including the house. If I use my login that is already configured on my phone, it shows the devices. If I log into my new “house” account, they don’t show up. Somewhere I’m missing a step in connecting my Spotify to my network so that it sees those devices.
