American Naval coat worn by Pete here , LT(jg) rank , and in another photo I recall w/ Ronnie Lane he sports the 4 stripes of a full Captain . Perhaps Pete has a fascination with the sea ?
Yeah , imagine the worth of all those old Rickenbacker's and Gibson's that he destroyed . Maybe it's best he's not sailing a Destroyer . lol
Actually, there was one Rickenbacker Pete (like his '52 American Telecaster) never took on the road, and it's the one on the album. Whether it's the same one in this video,I don't know. But,there's at least five guitars Pete has he never takes on the road (the Gretsch - which he can be seen with on another video...and while it "met it's fate" during the performance,Pete did get it repaired - the Rickenbacker 12 string, the Fender Telecaster,a Studio Use Gibson J200 and a Gibson SG).
Yea, tough to imagine.
I also think of the all the Dodge Chargers destroyed for the Dukes of Hazzard TV show. Between 75 and 220. If I could just have one of those Rics and one of those Chargers....that would be a good day.
I heard he borrowed this RICKENBACKER from PAUL WELLER.
YOU CAN NEVER LET GO OF THE COAT!!! BELIEVE DAT!!!
Genius.
My favorite band of whole time! Saw then in denver 1981 on this album came out! The Who!
I love this song. It just makes me feel good.
such a catchy song....and i love the keyboard in the background, playing off the bass
no one can replace moon but this music is its own thing..and still fucking great!!
It's so nice to see(and hear) that 12-string Rickenbacker...
This track, from face dances, underrated album, great song 💿
The Who at their poppiest ... this was one of my favorite songs of the summer of '81. At the time, some critic remarked it was like Paul McCartney & Wings LOL.
Original Paul was replaced in 1967 by Billie Shears Campbell who is 3 inches taller, oval face instead of a round face, and hooked nose...search Sage of Quay channel...NOTHING IS REAL...
PT on a Rickenbacker. Good times!
Pure magic
Always loved this, bought the album when I was 13 and this was my favourite song on it. Still sounds great.

Cool to see John w/ the headless Bass.
I remember MTV showing this vid three or four times as day.
YEP
Yes, rotating it with "Another Tricky Day" and "You Better You Bet". MTV was at its peak.
@@haybill3000 with Pete doing his, 'I want my MTV', bit. Wow, it's been awhile...
More like 3-4 times an hour
I was about to write the same. I was a newly minted teen in Jan 82. Amazing decade.
Sometimes I wonder if The Who realized how cool they are.
I love those shy smiles early in the clip-the joy of harmonious creation!
Video Number 50 on MTV August pretty awesome they really mixed it up playing Videos just like they did with Comps on Tapes,Vinyl and then CD which is amazing to be blessed and part of the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s
Kenney Jones was the PERFECT drummer for The Who after Keith died and this video proves it. LONG LIVE KENNEY!
Rog said in his book he thought about giving Kenney paintbrush drumsticks.
