Yup on doing a series on the 1198 and take the Multi to the track too! To avoid shearing your shift/rear brake levers and grinding down your side/center stand - raise the levers as high as you can and give the bike as much height (in the rider menu: add passenger and luggage option). Super fun bike on the track!
Hey @Practical Enthusiast! I recently bought a Multistrada 1200 S myself, and I cannot say enough how awesome your videos are! Super descriptive and brutally honest! After never owning a bike quite like this you have certainly helped me build some confidence in tackling some of my bike's issues myself. Thanks for all of the tips and tricks! I can't wait to ride this beast!
Yes. Absolutely. Your videos are super informative and more importantly confidence inspiring. I have a 2nd hand 796 Monster approaching the dreaded valve clearance check and I'm 75% there on doing it myself after watching the series. To see another take on the desmo, with likely new issues/situations, and your approach to solving them would be awesome.
I purchased my red 2010 MTS 1200 new and fortunately have not had any problems with it other than a few factory recalls. Only adds have been a GPS mount and Denali driving lights. Great bike!
Im joining to the list of people that owe you a big Thanks for this complete Guide on video showing the whole process of servicing your bike.. Mine reached it first desmo service interval back in October and started working in it this month. I was encouraged by your videos, got the parts, gaskets, orings and Im so glad I did it following your videos because I encounter a lot of issues in my process, like Oil in my vertical spark plug coming from the coil gasket.. etc etc. This playlist combined with Madcogz service manual is all we need for our multiproblems. Thanks a lot dude.
I haven't ridden a motorcycle since I was is 5th grade and ran my buddy's Honda 100 into the bushes on the side of his garage. And, I still want to see the 1198.
For sure, I'd love to see the 1198 get refreshed. Your videos and other info on RUclips and forums gave me the confidence to do a similar job on my 2007 BMW F800ST.
I have a very special appreciation for at least one specific aspect of this video. I have been wondering for some time about certain noises from my multistrada engine, and I am glad to hear that your engine has exactly the same noises. By the way I have had one of these for just over 2 years now. Been driving bikes for 45 years, and have never enjoyed a bike even nearly this much. Windscreen : consider adding a deflector screen. MRA X-creen is great, I've installed it. solves the problem completely. The tuneboy works great. I have it, can't live without it. Gears : can consider changing to motul 7100 instead of 300. It makes quite a difference. I've done this.
Found your channel as was searching belt change and valve adjustments for my recently purchased hyper821, already done a few mods and uploaded on my channel now to buy a shim kit and some new belts and get them done also, thanks for the tutorials you've certainly made it seem a lot easier than people (ducati) would have you believe, Subbed, cheers.
Man, you have it bad. Me too! Current list is 7 bikes, now negotiating for a 2011 Multistrada S Touring to replace the 04 Multistrada 1000 DS that was stolen. 3 mid engine cars, and a Mini Cooper S, 3 trucks, 2 buses/RVs, and a conversion van.
Great series and fantastic result. As I'm watching it I was thinking I'd love to see this done on a 1098 (my bike) and then the 1198 comes in at the end !! Thanks for putting these videos together.
Great Vids Practical Enthusiasts !! Are you using the old owners PIN on the keyless entry ?? The power band on that bike is like a Raped Gorrilla huh ?? Sounded Great by the way . Very gratifying accomplished on the refresh you did . I try do all my work on my 2012 Multi S . Luv it and wouldnt ever consider parting w it ... Thanx especially for sharing the site to clear my service reminders .
Yes please do a series on the 1198! I have an 1198S also and at 9,000 miles, I found a LOT of bearing material in the sump strainer and have the dreaded notorious lower end tight bearing issue these are known for. Any insight I could gain through your videos will be greatly appreciated!
Hey Bossman..what do you do with all your projects after you finish them? ie, the older items (i believe) 3 series Beamer, yellow Duc, CBR tail section, i believe a mazda 3, and the Beamer wagon and so on. You flip them?
Most of them have been sold. Only the CBRs would I consider a flip though. The amount of time and money I dump into these things mean I never get a financial return on them.
I have my 2010 Multi cruise control by Tuneboy also has fuel mapping done and full Termi exhaust with K&N. Bike is perfect now. Cheap to insure and own. Have HID but wish I had L.E.D. headlights. Hate it being keyless.
Wonderful work as the rest of your video materials! If I may suggest LED bulbs, I went with cyclops led ( USA made from Washington state I believe)for both low and high beams. After having PIAA ( Japan made), there was no comparison, the Cyclops are quality bulbs with certificates. They are so bright!!! Thanks for all your work!!
I keep the key in the compartment on the fairing under the throttle. Even then, it is sometimes out of range. Also, the keyless sensor is behind the cluster and sometimes requires being really close (touching) before acknowledging it's around. And it always talks if it is close. So if you keep the key with the bike for a few days both the fob and the bike batteries drain. But, I love the bike. Keep a pack of CR2032 batteries under the passenger seat. I just hit 30000 miles and still owe 3k on her. Thanks for the video series on this I'm about to do it all!
There is a PIN you can enter if you lose the key. Dealer can reset it so you can then set a new one. I had it done when I had the oil change light cleared (has to be done by them) and the heated grips activated that I found of a totaled 1200S for $40.
I didn't realize the key and the bike would drain themselves if left in proximity. Hmmm...guess I will rethink key storage then. I found a way to reset the pin on my bike, but I will definitely only use that as a last resort!
Hello! I am writing from Slovenia, I am Primož. Can you please take photos and measurements of the rack under the black ducati? It would mean a lot to me! THANKS!!!
was I the only one that waited patiently for the camera angle to get low to see the intercooler grills of the 300zx and determine if it was a twin turbo...... love those cars
The shifting issue is your clutch needing to be bled. It seems to require it every 20 hours on mine. Also - some remove the slave cylinder and lubricate the clutch actuation rod. Its worth a shot anyway.
@@PracticalEnthusiastIf your clutch fluid got darker quite fast after bleeding it,you need to replace your clutch slave cylinder. I have the same problem,I am waiting for the Oberon clutch slave in the mail now,on the forums this is like the holy grail of clutch slaves for ducati. I know you sold the bike, but it could be useful for someone reading this.
I don't intend to sell it anytime soon. I really like the bike! I may do some mods but nothing crazy. That electronic cruise would be really nice to have.
@@PracticalEnthusiast yeah that's what i was thinking, to be honest cant afford the enduro but its exact frame and the 1200 engine version so i cant see how not so mite try it lol for a euro tour mite be fun lol
It appears the general consensus is to do a series on the 1198 lol. Alright then!
U can do it!!!!
Absolutely yes on the new Ducati video

The Primavera needs some attention too. Great series!! Look forward to the 1198 videos!
Thanks! The poor Vespa does need attention.
I just love videos of mechanical work. Fix a lawnmower for all I care. That new Ducati is perfect for a video series.
yes please, I want to see work done on the 1198
Tuneboy can also add nudge up and down buttons which is handy.

Love the camera position where did you mount it from ? Also no vibrations from it 😊…..Thanks for sharing your clip 🥃🏴
Loved watching all the videos very well explained well done pal

I would buy this bike from you for double what you paid for it. I have to admit you did an amazing job and earned a subscribe!

Oh no! My fingers are crossed I don't find a similar issue...
@@PracticalEnthusiast I hope not, but if yours has 15k on it, it should have showed up by now so I think you’re in the clear 🤞
yes on videos of you sorting the new bike
I’ve driven off with my key in the passenger seat release about a dozen times...never fallen out yet... :s
Do you still have the bike? How is it 2 years later? :)
You’re great! Keep at it!
yes !!!! do it !
Is the 1200 reliable

S100 spray wax. It's the best stuff!

The shifting issue is your clutch needing to be bled. It seems to require it every 20 hours on mine. Also - some remove the slave cylinder and lubricate the clutch actuation rod. Its worth a shot anyway.
I bled the master and slave cylinders pretty well, but I suppose some air could still be trapped.

Absolutely on the 1198
i have a question for you can you fit a 19 inch front wheel on it? like from the 950 or even the enduro?
I don't know, sorry. Definitely not with the original fender in place. You'd need longer brake lines too probably.

RE the key: the new stradas let you input a pin number if you don't have the key
Looks like the consensus is we are getting some more Ducati videos.
Make a video on the 1198
