Seemed like our players don't understand the reason why teams like Uruguay counter attack so fast. If you hold the ball in the open field you get taken out. You dribble in the other teams penalty box because they can't foul you. We held the ball too long a lot and those teams are well schooled in shutting down space while one guy dribbles.
As cynical as it is defensively, you get stuck in and if you don't get the ball then get the man. That's how the Americas have always played.

Our friends south of the border are feeling anger and resentment because the USA, with lots of American dollars, is hosting the CA tournament.
The display of animosity was apparent when, at the end of the game, Christian Pulisic, the captain of the American team, attempted to shake hands with the South American officials. However, they refused to shake his hand.
This act was seen as despicable and disrespectful to the USA, which had graciously agreed to host the tournament after Ecudaro said they couldn't host. As a result of this hater, the USMNT players were punished by our friends from south of the border.

USMNT has no identity. They have no playstyle, no cohesion. They need structure, discipline. Im from Europe, and its night and day the playstyle I see over here and the US playing in the Copa America. Their players leave massive gaps, their midfield is nonexistent, their structure falls apart on both offense and defense, they have no creativity. It’s a mess, they have tons of talented players, so the blame is most likely on the coach. But maybe its the structure of soccer in the US. There is no one playstyle in this country, so its just a bunch of individuals playing in different systems across Europe that come together for the national team and have no idea how to play together. US federation needs to monopolize youth soccer in this country and develop an American playstyle that would lead to cohesion.

Again, I’m sure his staff would be amazing and I’m sure he has some of those amazing coaches on speed dial. I think the squad really likes Berhalter and I think Henry would keep morale up. The difference is he coached at a high level in Europe in top 5 leagues while Berhalter could not make it in the 23rd best European league in Sweden 🤷‍♂

Its easy to blame the coach...but the reality is that those players have no chemistry together...they seem uninterested (apathy)....running hard but without direction....they seem disjointed playing together. With all the time these young men spend playing apart in their respective clubs and together one would think there would be carry over discipline in the basics of the game. When a team is unpredictable like this team, it is because they lack discipline. So, Is that the coach's fault? Or is that the players?
My gut feeling is that no coach can fix this lack of heart from the players....so when the decide on a coaching change, they also need to seek new players also and see where their heart is.
