My US fan perspective... Canada has got a steal. He's a great value for Canada. This isn't a disrespect to either Canada or Jesse Marsch but his resume is above Canada. Jesse has more positives than negatives and especially for how Canada will want to play with their player pool. I genuinely think he will tailor his approach to be more pragmatic which will make his teams dangerous in CONCACAF. The federation is in shambles but the squad themselves and Jesse will make Canada proud.
Actually Canada Soccer has new board members & a new CEO, Kevin Blue, who has been very impressive so far & he made the arrangement with the 3 Canadian MLS teams & he hired Marsch. Things are looking up again for soccer in Canada.
He is the best U.S coach by far. The USMNT passed him over for berhalter I think it was ? and I believe he's very motivated to prove them wrong. Touche Marsch. He now has a team with a ton of youth and some great star pieces, excited to see him lay it down
On point. The thing is though, the fact that Canada hired Jesse is going to intensify the rivalry, even though it’s not a historical rivalry. Im happy for Canada, US, Jesse, and CONCACAF on this move.
@@Clips_FN: 🇨🇦 may had not qualified in past CONEMBOL Copa Americas, yet 🇨🇦 like 🇺🇸 has develop prospects to play abroad at multiple UEFA clubs than 🇲🇽. 🇨🇦 won & drew against 🇲🇽 during 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. I'd rather have Jesse than Greg. I'd rather have a ton of people over Greg. Greg's already proven he's ass, picks bad sides, and massively outcoached like against Netherlands. Now sure, not sure Jesse's, can sort out a defense. As for Leipzig and Leeds. It didn't work at Liepzig because they sold his two centerbacks. One to Liveprool in Konate. And Leeds they never bought good defenders. So it's logical it didn't improve. Plus they sold Raphina. I'm rooting for Jesse. And I'm American. It however speaks volumes to me that you guys say the US player pool doesn't fit pressing. When every top team in the big leagues presses to some degree.
Pete is like a totally different guy here on a Canadian podcast than he ever has been on his own podcast, or when he joins his buddy Tact. On those podcasts he often makes snide remarks about the "rude Canadians" & he & Tact even went on & on in one podcast about Canada slipping in all areas, including music, which was clearly an ignorant thing to say; but I'm quite that they thought that they were being very funny... By the way, he is the first American analyst that I have listened to who has said that Jesse wouldn't have been a good fit for the U.S. team & that most Americans wouldn't have wanted him as coach. All the others pretty well have said the opposite. Pretty sure Pete just didn't want to admit that Canada outdid the U.S. in this case. One thing that Pete was consistent with was his disdain for Berhalter. It's so bad that Pete & Tact always way over value the U.S. players & team & blame everything on Berhalter, whenever things go wrong.. I sure hope that jesse brings Canada back to the level that they should be at. I am expecting a very rough first 3 games versus elite teams. Hopefully we will be positively surprised.
Just a bit of banter on those Canadians. Quite rude to point it out though … The consensus with most analysts is that he’s better than Gregg, not that he’s the ideal fit
This dude Pete talks like he knows something about football or Marsch, but is a bad combination of arrogance and ignorance. If the US played a style that was more focused on winning the transition moments, a style that suits our players perfectly, we just might do something in big tournaments.
I am sorry, Pete, what your saying is bulls h t. While at Leeds, he didn't play the press against Man City, he beat Liverpool with an obvious counterattacking style. What you say is crap. Jesse got fired because the stupid Leeds fans kept calling for his head and the back office caved, even though the teams XG was toward the middle of the league. They wanted a coach with a Euro accent, and go a succession of coaches who completely screwed it up. The only thing right you said was that Jesse was inspirational -- the Leeds players would have gone through a brick wall for him. He also is directly responsible for turning Tyler Adams career around. Watch out for Canada -- we will rue the day US Soccer did not show GGG the door and hire Jesse.
What? Jesse taking on Canada job? Steal. Can we trade them Berhalter for Jesse? Jesse is built for this kind of gig.
We wouldnt take berhalter for a bag of balls. See you at the Copa!

Jesse uses a zonal marking system, not a man marking system. His pressing is based around the ball, not the players.
2024 Copa America Semi-Finals: 🇦🇷 vs 🇨🇦 & 🇧🇷 vs 🇺🇸.
Mexico have a better chance of making it to the semis than Canada
@@Clips_FN: We shall see upon arrival. 🤔
@@cjhan9816 Name me the last time Canada played a team from Conmebol

i love this
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought in one interview Jesse said he would adapt since he realized his system hasn't been working for a while now.

Pete has said that for quite a while, he didn't warrant Marsh.
Tac and Pete are being cheeky when they roast the other CONCACAF sides.
