There is one thing that I notice every time I watch Jacob's music videos. It's the human warmth he brings to every song. Every note, chord and sound always carries that magical feeling that's so unique to his style, and this piece was no exception. This is honestly why I will never get sick of his music, let alone his technical and creative abilities, and it's the main reason why I think it is some of the best musical story telling that we have ever seen.
No one says anything about the work implied in recording the vocals at a very low speed, and then accelerate those videos and align them to the real speed of the song. Only that deserves a Grammy or Oscar, you name it.
So this video has just confirmed something that I long suspected - I used to live a few streets away from Jacob! Dude, if only we had met we could have been BFFs! I even used to be a pro melodica player. Thanks for all the awesome vibes!
Maybe if he met you could've been such good friends that he would've spent more time at your friendship rather than music and never have produced what he is producing nowadays :O hahaha
Wait, I may be incorrect, but Jacob has said many times that he’s lived in the same house his whole life (usually when he talks about his music room) so I’m assuming he may still live there?
I listen to this 2 times a day. Today, the lyric, "As u reach outside yourself u will find me" made me cry. Amazing power of music... and Im a jaded professional musician. Thank u for that, Jacob and Becca
just the perfect quotation to describe the brilliance of this performance. I almost wish Jacob could see this comment in particular- it's some of the highest praise I can think of, but totally appropriate.
So I do art and look for music to play while I am painting or photoshopping. BUT I CAN'T WHEN I HAVE JACOB'S VIDEOS ON BECAUSE THEY ARE SO FUN I HAVE TO WATCH THEM! Thanks a lot Jacob!
Came here just to say, I used to listen to this one almost every day, but it had been a bit since I've heard this track, and it came up in my daily mix just now, and i got insanely lost in it. I forgot how deeply and genuinely good this song feels. All your songs, as well as becca's for that matter, but just wanted to say thank you for putting your incredible brain and heart into these things. jeez.
It's hard to imagine how everything was homemade, all this animation. It is great! Great animation, great production of timbres. One day I'll have mics to try it, to make my own sound library.
Indeed! Jacob's musical wizardry has been remarked upon countless times, but his wizardry in video production and editing ought to have been what brought us all to his music in the beginning.
I feel like these lyrics capture something really wise. The lyrics to this video talk about the one who is the universe but then also states that nothing about it makes it different from each individual. Sort of like the phrase that a lot of people say about "all is one". Once you know about it, it gives you love. If you think everything (the universe) is really the same thing and the same as you, then why wouldn't you experience love? People seem to experience fear when they perceive something as different from them. Similarly, people experience love when something seems more familiar and they perceive it as apart of their essence and ideals. And the music is also amazing.
This song is my religion. Actually all of Jacob's song. Yes, all is one - one is all; I mean is there really someone outside of creation? It's just one.
AHH & THIS IS MY FAVORITE JACOB COLLIER VIDEO. NO CONTEST. THE STOP MOTION IS SO IMPRESSIVE aND THE COLORS 😭 BEAUTIFUL. CREATIVITY AND GOOD VIBES OFF THE CHARTS. JUST MAKES ME SO 🥰🥰🥰

Jacob I love what you’re doing with your grooving, what you’re saying, you’re playing, what you’re displaying & portraying. I Get It! How can a groove like this infused with such lyrics move a grown man like me close to tears..what a chord this Tune struck.. Summarizing 49years,in this song? C’mon man,in a bathtub, Ha ha ha ha ha....genius!!!! My version would’ve been “Shoebox”..:) But Bathtub is much more apropos, the water,Absolutely Amazing! Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince.....Jacob Collier! What a new & refreshing gift...🙏🏽 p.s thanks Becca!
Ah yes. A simpler Jacob time. Obviously it’s still mindblowing, but no one had ever even known what/who a Djesse was, and never imagined just how crazy of a journey Jacob was gonna start to follow. ^-^ but this still is still just as powerful today as it was when it came out initially

Jacob - you are killing my inate pessimism - You set expectations so high, and I don't know how - but you always do something fresh!!!! Thank you for the beauty, the art and the honesty...
i can't even right been hearing those water droplet cadence for months..what a beautiful undertaking Jacob and becca, show the true labor of friendship and music that went into putting this together stop motion takes much patienence. so many different genres of music at work, even hear the gospel and r&b undertones. mind blown, thank you very sharing with us
This may sound silly, but this song sounds exactly like a collab between Jacob and Becca- like, it sounds like the exact middle ground between their two different styles. Love it.

yes: he is a genius, but definitely not a cold and distant one.

I demand more behind the scenes footage of Jacob working in the studio!
Agreed! Those little moments at the end were such a tease :D
how about that iharmu livestream then
Happy, sorta trippy - delicate, complex but rather careless in itself. How life should be.
☺️ love it
Nice words
Collier has such a profound understanding and appreciation of beauty and symmetry; art and music is his life and I want to live that too
Symmetry is easily confused with balance.
"As u reach outside yourself u will find me" - Jacob
the lyrics on this are just unfathomably beautiful
