    Tried probably 6 variations of the Dreamwear line - sizes, full face, nasal pillows, nasal cushions, and the only one that works for me is the cushions. I liked the idea of the nasal pillows but there was just too much leakage and I think the one I had just couldn’t handle pressure of 20. At first the nasal cushion tore up the bottom of my nose and I developed a scab for some time but now, no issues. I love it.
    Every so often, I need to re-seat and adjust it on my nose but I’m averaging about 1.5 apneas/hypopneas per hour vs. 79.8 when I first started. 🤙🏾🤙🏾

    I like the Dreamwear nasal mask but this one has fit me perfectly with zero leaks for the last 2 weeks. Very comfortable and so far no nasal irritation like all the other nasal pillow masks have caused for me. I had to use lanolin ointment on the Resmed and F/P nasal pillow masks to avoid this, but on this new mask I don't need that and have had no problems. I found that I use a small size in this mask vs the medium in the nasal mask so maybe that's why TheLankyLefty27 got a leak when lying on his side - I would make sure you buy a pack that includes one size smaller as well as what you expect. I am sticking with this one for sure!

  • @andrewpersaud4144
    @andrewpersaud4144 3 года назад +3

    I recommend buying all available cushions since they're interchangeable on the head piece. Circumstances aren't always the same. For example, On really humid nights my under nose cushion refuses to stay under my nose. Slides away and leaks. The in-nose one is needed instead so I swap out. Also the in-nose one gets a bad wrap because of the little zits and irritation they cause along the nostrils (I had a really bad one the first week of use that hurt whenever I moved or touched my nose ). This is temporary. Soldier through it and your skin will adapt in about two weeks. I get zero zits or irritation now unless it's my own fault by tying the mask too tight. People usually stop using it at the first sign of irritation so don't realize their skin and nose would have adapted.

    Great mask with the undernose cushion. My only complaint is that the connector to the hose on top of my head broke down after six months. I thought that was lame but bought a replacement for just that piece. At that time I tried the nose pillows as I have worn those with other masks for years and did not like them. The undernose cushion is genius. No leaks and no marks on my face. I agree with LL. This will be my mask until technology brings us the next best thing.

    Nice tip about the Hurricane Dryer. I have one and use the Dreamwear masks regularly. I've never thought about keeping it hooked up to the hose. I never really have a problem with it drying on the 30 minute mark with everything separated. It'd probably dry just fine in 15 minutes if not for the headgear. The cloth parts take a bit longer to dry out completely.

  • @ALbino998
    @ALbino998 3 года назад +4

    When I first started I went through a ton of the "top recommended" masks, but as soon as I tried the Dreamwear under the nose I knew it was a keeper. Everything about it is better than the more traditional triangle elephant nose nasal masks. I tried the Resmed n30i copycat version, but didn't like the hard plastic portion as I'm a side sleeper. I also tried the gel pillows version of this mask before and, much like yourself, didn't like it as much as the under the nose version, however, this looks like the way it inserts into your nose might be less annoying. My success with the under the nose version means I'm definitely going to give this alternate method a try because who knows, it might be an upgrade in my case, which would make it crazy good. It wasn't on Cheap CPAP Supplies that I could find, but I went ahead and ordered it using your Amazon link. Thanks for making the video and keeping us up to date on the latest products!

      @@TR-Coaching I went back to the under the nose version. This wasn't bad, it just didn't offer anything I needed. I don't have any leaking issues or any of the other things that might benefit from the pillows, but I thought I would give it a go in case it ended up being even better. There's really no downside to trying it, so if you think you might get something out of it then I would say go for it.

    I have been using that mask with the nasal pillows for about 8 years. I really appreciate the "arms." I can't stand to use nasal pillows with prongs. The just don't fit my nares. At the beginning they were rubbing sores inside the edges. So I shifted to the single holes version. I am sure I would not be useing my CPAP if I had to use those things. I am somewhat clostrophobic and the idea of a fase mask is shary. Thans for you videos.

    Hi I switched to this recently and great fit - I’ve been having issues with noise - well documented on apena board - Dreamwear Gel Pillow - exhaust slot noise. Either just breathing and exhaling so noisy, if you cover the exhaust slot on the front peaceful and quiet. Currently not able to sleep well with the noise. Which is frustrating as they fit better, zero leaks side sleeper. Any updates on the noise and exhaust ? Really want to love these things if not back to Resmeds nasal ones-sigh.

    The older cushion version is my go-to. I can't imagine anything better. My only, minor in the scheme of things, gripe is the indentation is leaves in your hair for the rest of the day. Looks like you're wearing an invisible headband! Unfortunately we can't get Hurrican dryers here in Australia, so I have two sets of masks and tubes, one in use and thouroughly washed at the end of the week, then swapped. I always had problems drying the tube in winter, even after a week, but now I use a long tube dryer (PÜRDOUX™ 2 in 1 CPAP hose brush) which gets out most of the moisture and it will air dry in a short time.

      By pillows do you mean the blue gel silicone rimmed, or new ones he's demonstrated here? And your under-the-nose mask you refer to, do you mean still the Dreamwear top of the head hose, or the old under-the-nose hoses? Anyways for the nap I slept 2hrs and 19mins and was only woken because the phone rang, FOREVER! Normally I can only sleep for up to 2 hours at the most, so this was very exciting!! Hey Danny, i hope you doing somehow hell. I had the same problem that it was possible to wear the mask only for 2-3 hours and than only every second day. The problem was the device and the strong air pressure with CPAP that was blowing the whole time the air. I have used the S9 from resmed. Now i use the S11 and it is a life changer for me. It uses the APAP method so Not only CPAP - Continous... but also Autoset.... It Stops blowing air when the pressure is reached und sinks the pressure, when you exhale so you dont have to work 2 times as hard as normal and your lung will love it. I use CPAP for 8 years and the device Switch to S11 was the best improvement since i started with CPAP. I think you Love bees, as I do, so from a beekeeper to beekeeper try it out cause it can Change your life.

    When I received a Dreamwear frame/nasal cushion as a set, the cushion was made different than the those I typically receive as single replacements. The frame+nasal cushion was made in Costa Rica whereas the single ones were made in China. The latter fit more loosely and leakage was greater than the Costa Rica one. There were obvious structural differences in the two even though the size was the same (M).
    Edit: new replacements are from Costa Rica. The ones from China are probably stuck on a freighter somewhere.

Unless I'm losing my mind, I thought you did a video sometime ago about creams that help alleviate chafing around the nose and face. I just bought a Phillips pillow kit - and bought a medium cusion to give a try. I bought an Alvera gel (for use after being in summer sun). It has the consistancy of hair gel. But, I'm not sure I should use it since alcohol is listed as part of the ingredient list. Is this going to damage a silicone pillow mask? If not, any suggestions of what can be had at a local drug store that will work. Many thanks!!! Ian

      The sound can be dampened by using those fleece liners that come with the mask. If the noise isn't from the mask tubes running by your "ear bones" then it could be turbulence from the air hitting the pillow near either of the exhalation ports: swivel at the top and the jet coming out of the cushion.

    I love the under the nose mask. But have just discovered a weird issue.
    A creamy film is forming in the silicone mask. I thought it was the silicone inside surface breaking down but I just realized it’s like Vaseline or a cream. I put a soft small toothbrush down it and it turned to a white cream. It’s not bacteria growth. No smell and pure white. Hot water and soap do not clear it. I can’t figure out where it’s coming from. Is the silicone coated inside and I’ve disturbed it?
    Help!

    Hello,
    I'd like to know if one of your devices would respond to that specific issue : a breathing from the patient that doesnt stop brutally like in an apnea, but which has a minute ventilation continuously low in the few minutes after falling asleep (long insp. and exp. time, no obstruction), which ends up waking him up and not fully falling asleep. The nights when this event doesnt happen, the minute ventilation has a higher average and the sleep is ok.
    Do you know any algorithm or setting that could allow to preset a fixed target level for minute ventilation ?
    Thanks a lot, wishing you a good day

    I want a Daft Punk helmet mask. If we had helmets we should be able to sleep on our bellies! Or a Mandalorian Helmet Mask and include light/sound binaural beats tech to help induce sleeping.

    Thanks for your informative videos. I have obstructive sleep apnea, but I also have what I call “nasal snores” that happen just as I’m starting to doze off, and they stop me from falling asleep repeatedly 😩 I’m waiting to see specialist about this, but so far the Doctors I’ve mentioned this too seem baffled as if they’ve not heard of such a condition before. They only want to check for sleep apnea, and seem to be disregarding the 1st problem “nasal snores” that prevent me from actual falling asleep in the first place! Have you ever heard of other people with this condition, or am I a medical marvel? 😬
    PS I’m in the U.K and some of the Doctors here can be quite old school...

      If you use a CPAP with a nasal pillow, you won’t have nasal snore anymore and if you have sleep apnea problem also, it will cure this also. But if you use a headgear, the noise of the air passing through the tube on each side of the head may be bothersome but one can use earplugs and get use to it.

      I have a deviated septum. I normally can't breathe through my nose for long at night, but with the pressure of my ASV machine, it keeps my nose (at least one nostril) clear all night.
      Maybe yours is worse than mine. I also have regular swollen nasal allergy symptoms.

    My machine must be broke or something is no way i can exhale with the mouth closed. The lady that explained to me how to work said is ok alot of people breathe like that. But is like an air compressor putting air through my nose and getting out of my mouth. I hope i figure this out because they said i have sleep apnea and that's why i wake up so many times.

      @@Freecpapadvice Yes cushions leaked on your video and mine leaks because I sleep that same way. I am hitting a brick wall and have given up wearing any mask since the choice is sleep deprivation wearing one, or a sound 7 hours plus without. Will pillows fix that, though for you you say that made leaking even worse? BTW I've long given up on under-the-nose-hose options.

    I love the dream dreamwear nasal mask like you, but I have one problem with it and it's a pretty big one. Oh you have a wife if you happen to lay o your side facing them, they get a blast of air from the mask. It seems Philips love their mask to exhale straight out from you face, not downwards, which is why I switched to the ResMed model, it does leak some but at least my wife doesn't get a blast of air in the face. It may not be a problem if you have a King sized bed, but the wife likes a Queen size, so I had to switch masks. I really wish that Philips would redesign there masks ever so slightly so that married people can wear them too. All they would need to do is change the slit to a few lower placed holes to avoid the jet of air the slit causes. See, easy peasy!

      My hubby and I are both pappers. My SwiftFX exhausts at a downward angle, but he complains that I blow on him sometimes. His mask is one that exhausts straight out at me. I bought a boom microphone stand on Amazon that stands behind our headboard, and the boom extends over the bed between us. I slip a pillowcase over the end so that it acts as a curtain and secure it with some clips. It's light, but it does block the breeze.
