haha I'm new to cpap and what a breath of fresh air to find someone who makes dealing with this a little easier with a sense of humor. thank you!! 😂 I feel better already.
So glad I found your page. I bought the strips and it has made my sleep so much better. An added benefit is that my wife also sleeps better. Thank you.
Hi Jason,, I am subscribed and bell is lit and thumbs up! I am brand new to using a CPAP machine....Haven't even got the machine yet but,,, now have a lot of great info on what is happening in the near future! Will continue to check your videos..... love learning from the "expert".... with a great sense of humor added in! Thanks for doing all these videos... ❤
Thank you so much! You are so knowledgeable, informative, funny and pleasant to look at! :-)
THANK YOU for this suggestion Jason. I tried the Cover Roll tape which works well to stick lips together, but don't like the fact that it's permeable and lets a little air in and out. I like to sleep on my back and still get a dry mouth with this tape in place because it stretches enough to let my lips separate slightly, even with a soft cervical collar, and thus allows that little bit of airflow through it, which adds up over the night. So I reverted to the one method that seems to work for me - put lips together, cover acroos mouth with a piece of one and a half inch wide athletic tape (Walgreen's...cheap) and then wrap a length of inch and a half wide self adhesive stretch bandage (like the stuff they put on after you have blood drawn - it's cheap online also) over the athletic tape and lapped a couple of inches in back of the neck to secure it, which keeps the non-breathable athletic tape in place all night.
Such a timely video. I literally just bought a 28 pack this week and I believe it is arriving today.
Let us know how it goes for you
As another commenter has mentioned, they are not quite wide enough for my liking. They leave too much space on each side of the mouth. Drool escapes and also it allows for flutter on the sides of the mouth. Other than that, they do work and are gentle on the skin. I was able to get 3 nights out of them. The 4th night they were not secure enough due to the afformentioned drool :-). I found a better option on Amazon based on a review someone had posted on the somnifix section. It is Silicon surgical tape. The particular one I used from Amazon is "Medvance Soft Silicone Tape with Perforation for Easy Cut Size - 1" Width (3 Pack, 5 Yards)". It has a very similar adhesion and is just as gentle on the skin.....but since it is just a roll of tape, you control the length and coverage. I don't need to use 2 pieces to make it wider, I just pull off about 2 inches worth and stick it on. In the review of the product, someone specifically mentioned that they found it the best option for mouth taping...which made the decisiion for me to try it. The first night I just put a piece on the sensitive skin of my inner arm to test removal in the morning to prove to myself that it would be fine...and it was great.
the information on your youtube was very good, thanks
I criticised your video theatrics not too long ago... but this latest output was brilliantly informative and useful.
Cheers Jason
Did I snap back at the criticism? I usually take a shot back because....well.....it's fun! 😉
Nice job. Great info. Thx
Thank you, that was very helpful!
Been using the for 3 months now and yes you need to wash your face first to remove any oils and I also save the backing and if you take it off carefully and replace the backing you can reuse once or twice, these work for me really well....
Love your videos!! I’m subscribed, I have the bell, and I’ve tried the Somnifix and I have a mustache. Works well even with the mustache. As long as it’s trimmed the strip will stick to the upper lip. Now I’m going to try and use it more than once... as I too am cheap!!
Thanks for subbing! Stay cheap my friend! 👊🏼
Thanks. I had nearly a 4 hour mouth leak last night. I will try Somnifix.
Finally I can tape my wife's mouth shut for medical reasons.
I feel like this video might cause some marital strife. 🤔
@@Freecpapadvice lol! BTW, thank you for the guides you have done. You have saved my cpap experience and provided a better sleep when the doctor wasn't helping at all. It's disappointing how much medical doctors get paid for only reviewing one night's sleep and base 6 months of appointments off the same data. I analyzed my data and found the right pressure where you can see in the graphs as working much better health wise. Oh and your vids are funny as hell.
That's great to hear j j. The most upsetting thing to me about the sleep medical system is that I'M NOT GETTIN' PAID!!!!! 🤣 Seriously, the follow up is pretty bad. I'm just glad that I can help out. Working in that environment you don't have any time to do a thorough follow up.
TheLankyLefty27 And that is the reason you are the first content creator i ever donated to. Come on folks, donate if this guy has shown you the tools and provided the advice to get you back on track to a good night's sleep and the knowledge to make better cpap decisions.
......and screenshots for my next video!!! 😉😂 It's really frustrating when you can see that this stuff is mismanaged. In a way I don't blame the doctors offices for the lack of effective follow up. I put more of the blame on insurance companies since they are usually paying the bills or setting the rates of reimbursement. The money just isn't there anymore for effective follow up. They COULD do it, but if they did it would be a huge loss of income. From a business perspective it makes sense that it's nowhere close to as good as it should be. It just sucks that it has to be some idiot RUclipsr (me) that tries to fill in the gap. I love it though!
Hi Jason, nice video. Yeah I sometimes open my mouth sometime during my sleep while I'm wearing the resmed airfit N30i nose mask. I'm gonna order those strips.
I used this product one night to rule out nasal mask leak and indeed the leak rate was zero indicating all leaking was due to mouth breathing. Concern with mouth tape is shut off of PAP machine due to power failure. Now that I have a backup battery, may try these in place of soft cervical collar. The latter works well but have to put up with some discomfort on back of neck.
I had them, and I liked them well enough ... but I still found that my body just wanted to drool during the night ... which would leak out the sides, and degrade the adhesive. Kudos to you for getting multiple nights out of yours, mine didn't even make it through an entire night.
I also had concerns with, what if I suddenly got ill in the middle of the night. Having my mouth 100% restricted was a slight concern. So I was initially trimming the sides off a bit (helped with the drooling too) ... but since then I have switched to the "Woody Knows" lip tape which IMO is an awesome configuration - adhesive strip above the upper lip, adhesive strip below the lower lip, and more of a paper-backed middle strip. So it's just holding the lips and mouth shut, I can still breath (and speak a little) with them on.
I found the same issue. They really aren't wide enough in my opinion. Plus I would have air escape the sides periodically. I found a better solution using "Medvance Soft Silicone Tape with Perforation for Easy Cut Size - 1" Width (3 Pack, 5 Yards)" on Amazon. It is a very similar material and adhesion, but just a roll of tape so you control the size. Seems to be just as gentle on the skin, but works much better for me.
@@derrickshultz6800 I put them on diagonally and it works so much better
Hey Jason. For us bearded guys, can you do a review of using a stretchy cotton headband over the mouth, across the cheeks and behind the head to prevent mouth leaks? The fabric is very breathable but for some reason it seems to work for mouth leaks nearly as well as taping without the hassle and the cotton yoga style 2in hair bands are between 1 and 2 dollars apiece. I'd love to see a review like this one but with the hairband used instead.
Hostage tape is supposed to be for bearded mouth taping
I’ gonna try this for sure.
Jason, thanks for all of your great lessons. Now that I’ve got a Dreamwear and have moved off the full mask, I’m having some trouble with keeping my internal mouth seal. I sleep fairly comfortably but when I get into near-deep sleep, I lose mouth seal. With my lips glued together with tape, my cheeks puff and that is enough to wake me up. Do you have a lesson on how to keep my tongue in place? It seems like this is all that is keeping me from that perfect night’s sleep. Thank you!
I taped my mouth shut for a year, it worked. Had I known about this product I would have used. If you go the tape route (micropore tape) I recommend making a folded over pull tab on both sides so if you wake up in the middle of the night starving for air you can easily pull the tape off.
With tape...absolutely. Otherwise you wake up in a panic trying to get it off.
Thanks for a beautiful sunny day road trip... when did you film? Temperature?
We are flying over next month
You're not cheap. you're wise.
Which double-sided boil and bite mouthguard do you recommend? I've tried everything chin strap fix a dent I have a goatee so tape doesn't work very well. So which one do you recommend to help keep my mouth shut while I use my dream where nasal mask? Thank you for all your videos and assistance
Thanks for the video. Will I be able to see if I have a problem with open mouth during my CPAP treatment? Will it show up as leakage in the log from my machine afterwards?
I have been having major problems with mouth leaking and waking up with dry mouth to the point I keep a water bottle next to me. I didnt have this problem the first years of cpap so I couldnt figure out why it started. Well, recently due to the fires in California I started attaching the ultra fine filters to my dreamstation and I havent awaken with dry mouth since! Some time ago I decided to stop using the fine filters because I didnt think I needed them and that maybe the pressure would be stonger without them and better for my therapy. I feel like my air leak issues and the decision to stop using the ultra filters coincide but cant say for sure. Hopefully I’ve found my solution!
That's pretty interesting. There is actually a setting in the machine as to whether or not you are using the fine air filters. I do think that this matters as to the output of the machine. If you didn't have a fine filter in, but it was enabled it may have caused the pressure to be slightly higher than needed.
Today is the first clear day in awhile. California is REALLY trying to get me to move.
Thank you...
Lefty: great video, rhx. which mask/headgear combo were you using in this video? I'm using resmed p10 and looking for another option. Medium cups restrict airflow, large cups irritate my nares.
Before you ditch the P10, try some aloe Vera in your nose where the large makes contact and irritates. You just need a temp barrier until that skin toughens. I’m using the Fisher Paykel Evora. It’s the most recent mask review video from a week ago.
I've found the p10 is awesome but it irritates my mates too so I swap it around with the n30 which is really similar. It's so lightweight that sometimes I wake up and think "oh I didn't put my mask on last night" only to realise I'm wearing it and breathing through it! It kind of depends on your face shape though.
Funny, I got a notification for this video and I didn't have notifications turned on. They are on now.
Thank you Chris. I appreciate the viewership! (watch.....now you won't get notifications with them turned on.)
Do you know the make/model of the head strap you're wearing? I use the "ResMed Headgear for AirFit™ P10 Nasal Pillow" strap but its elasticity doesnt last very long. Need something that holds a snug fit.
I asked my sleep doctor about mouth taping as I use a nasal mask. He had a very dim view of it, feeling it was risky. He did suggest a chin strip which I am already using (it helps a bit but doesn't stop mouth leak). Not sure what to do at this point other than try one of the newer full face mask designs (can you get masks without a prescription?).
What’s your take on the Luna machines , I would like to know cause I have a philips and need to get a new one .
James Nestor's book BREATH is vital reading for those of us who actually have to focus on breathing issues. It's just a great read, no matter what!
Two problems for me. Tried the soft pillow route. Didn’t like the no mouth open requirement. Habitual mouth breather, and congestion. Also have a mustache. I see where using heat would help. I did start with heat for awhile. Not sure if it was better or not. Have a Resmed SAS and full mask. Get about 3 hours every night before the dry mouth wakes me up. PIA!
How does Somnicare compare to the BSN Stretch medical tape that you recommended?
Great video. I have bee taping my mouth for several years. I use 2 inch 3M Durapore tape. I must be cheaper than you because I buy 6 rolls at a time for about $13. Six rolls will last about 2 years. I have a mustache and it's not a problem. Still works with 2 or 3 days of beard growth.
Cheaper than me?!? 🤣🤣 I didn't buy the Somnifix and the tape I use now I got for free. Cheaper than me.......get that stuff outta here!! 😂
@@Freecpapadvice Even the birds that fly over my house go cheap, cheap, cheap!
im having bad issues with my Air Touch20 head gear. I have to keep the neck strap tight or i lose the seal because im a side sleeper. The problem is that it digs into the back of my neck and causes a good deal of pain and ingrown hairs. I do you have any ideas? I have a large mask and cushion.
So does the dream station 2 actually work with Oscar now? All the vids I see are 1-2 years old. Unfortunately Philips just replace my recalled machine with that and I'm now seeing it may not be connected to Oscar or also may be recalled for voc,/foam elsewhere?!?
Thanks for the tip! Very helpful. I bought the Somnifix & it’s effective! A cheaper & effective option is using the 3M micropore medical tape.
I found that Cover Roll Stretch Tape by BSN is even better (in my humble opinion). Thank you for the comment!
@@Freecpapadvice Thanks for this tip! Hope it’s available here in the Philippines. Will definitely check it out :)
@@Freecpapadvice I have it but I seem to break out with it and it pulls the hairs off my upper lip...painful. Hopefully Somnifix will work.
Hey I actually just started using this product I do wear a full mask and my pressure is maxed out on my machine at 20 and my ahis have went up but I believe it's been due to too much alcohol which shouldn't be doing anyway but anyways they do work very well so far and I do use them two to three nights myself
Using without the CPAP is beneficial. Check out the book Breath by James Nestor which he mentions this.
Somnifix is working well for me. 10 days and I’m down to an AHI of 0.6 from around 1.5. My guess is I’ll start pulling some Zero AHI nights soon. Now I just need Philips to come out with a 4 point attachment frame nasal mask and I can check off my last outstanding issue.
My morning blood pressure seems to be increased, guessing it’s from low O2 saturation. Need some more data and some Pulse Ox Oscar reports.
0.6 from 1.5? That's not meaningful data for starters - both values in the normal range.
@@jorisbonson386 Huh? Yeah, my AHI is in the normal range and down roughly 50% lower than before I began using the Somnifix product. My AHI before CPAP was in the high 20s and my o2 saturation would fall into the low 70s. Is there a specific point you would like to make?
First off I love tour videos and find them helpful. I do have a question though.... I realize you are going to have mouth leaks regardless of the mask you have and I have taken consideration of the products being offered, but what do you do about full face masks? I know one video you recommended the cervical collar and somnifix and then this video you say that it won’t work because obviously we have a full face mask because we breath with our mouth. So I guess mouth leaking is just something I have to deal with because I can’t obstruct my mouth closed?
With a full face mask if there is a mouth dropping problem: soft cervical collar or double sided boil and bite mouthguard, or chinstrap (last resort).
Nasal or nasal pillow mask: double sided boil and bite mouthguard, or some type of tape over the mouth.
The mouthguard doesn't obstruct the mouth closed, nor does the tape. A breathing slit is present in both. They can also come off quickly if needed.
Using this, I have 0 leaks and my event average for 30 days is .96.
I have had a problem with dry mouth since, I 1st started using a CPAP. I have been using a CPAP for about 6 or 7 years. I have wore out 3 machines. I attempted to buy the the sominX but was told that they would not sell into Canada. If it works, I would be willing to shave off my mustache as it would be worth it. I will make another try to purchase a box.
So I just got my CPAP machine with two different masks, full face mask from Resmed that I can last for about three hours a night but no longer than that because it just is not comfortable. Then I have the Nasal Cushion from Philips Respironics DreamWear mask with Nasal Cushion, this is my favorite so comfortable....however I can't fall asleep because when I start to go to sleep my mouth drops open, so I taped my mouth shut one night! Well this was no good because I then would start to fall asleep and I would have my cheeks blown up like a puffer fish. How do I combat these issues? I want this to work so much, the Cushion is so much better than anything else I have tried.
I just subscribed and have watched a bunch of your videos. I HATE the Resmed 30i. Having the pillow thingy drove me crazy. I am exchanging it for certain.
Your videos are informative and your sense of humour with such a serious subject is so appealing!
Good timing! Last night after a week on my new Aircurve 10 and my new full face Vitera mask, my leak was “98.4” and my ahi was 3.2? And my usage was 4.21 hours? I had been on cpap for 15 years until recent sleep study showed complex central apnea along osa! Any clue to what might have happened? I’m really stumped! Thanks!
Sorry, I'm not understanding entirely. What happened to change to a Dx of complex sleep apnea, or the high leak and AHI readings?
Now how are you...are you diagnoed with complex sleep apnea?
I WAS SO EXCITED, because I wake up alot with my nasal mask and drink water because my mouth is so dry(I WEAR A CHIN STRAP) also. Till you said you must be cleanly shaven, I've had a mustache for such a long time it feels like it's part of me. My humidity is set at 4 and I'm on a 12-8 regiment.
My big problem is air leaking into my stomach. Full face mask, I've mostly conquered letting air into my mouth, but I wake many times a nigh trying to burp which leads to pulling off the mask and quitting.
I have tried this product and found it to be useless under the conditions that you describe. I do dribble a bit while sleeping which causes the Somnifix to dissociate. So, if you dribble, I suggest that you avoid this product entirely.
So I’ve been breathing thru my mouth forever I guess (51) now. I was diagnosed with 97+ apneas an hour. My first sleep test with a mask i asked for a full face and the lady doing the tests asked why. She basically said, did the doctor not suggest a nasal mask. Nope not once and neither did the sleep store where I got setup.
Soooooo as a lifer breathing thru the mouth I’ve tried chin strap and nasal pillow. I get overwhelmed and often take everything off subconsciously. I even do this with a full face mask at times.
So ultimately the question is. Can this tape with a chin strap and nasal mask train me to nose breathe or do I just need to move on and deal with the crappy full face mask? Also what would cause me taking off my equipment with zero recollection?
Thank you
Hello Mr Lanky, can we use airmini Cpap as replacement to cpap s10 for daily use?
You can, but I wouldn't. It isn't data capable with OSCAR.
What are the options if you have a beard? Is the only option to be clean shaven every day? I am currently using the Phillips Respironics Dreamwear nasal pillows and have mouth air leakage. Air leakage wakes me up during the night as my mouth is closed my lips allowing air to escape. I switched to the nasal pillows because the full face mask leaked when I had beard stubble and leak worsened as my beard grew out.
Don't now how this slipped past. Double sided boil and bite mouthguard. A "snugged up" soft cervical collar works well too.
@@Freecpapadvice I bought the CareFusion chinstrap with adjustable velcro after I commented. Felt weird the first few nights but adjusted by cutting hair short.
I use a bi pap machine and on several occasions an alarm has gone off during the night ( usually around 3 AM ) the first time it happened I noticed an orange band across the screen about 3/8 ths of an inch wide withe the letters VR and wording saying - Not connected to - and I cannot remember the last word, my supplier tells me there is no code with VR in their manual and thinks it was MR but I am 100% sure it said VR, have you ever come across this code.
But i have a bipap. The pressure changes on inhale and exhale. And i do get mouth leak. Will this still work for me? I ask cause he specifically mentions cpap.
hi Jason should my mouth stay open or closed while using a full face mask. ln my case my mouth naturally stays open and no matter what the humidity levels are set at I still get major dry mouth but not dry nose. Do you think a chinstrap can help alleviate that problem?
A full face mask is meant for people like you that have their mouths opened all the time, so I wouldn't use tape on your mouth. You're having leaking out of the sides of your mask (I'd bet) from mouth drop. A chinstrap could help, but it's my least favorite method. Soft cervical collar and double sided boil and bite mouth guard are my favorites.
@@Freecpapadvice thank you sir.
I'm a nose breather but really want to try a full face mask. Don't know why but what would you recommend for someone that has mild sleep apnea?
They're good to have on hand for when you get a cold or are congested. I have a recent video comparing several FFM that I hold in high regard and the pros and cons of each. It's a masterpiece: 😉 ruclips.net/video/-4jUtnTIFyM/видео.html
Hey man, i got the bell
Question for you: I downloaded the Oscar tool and started to make a profile but chickened out because of all the sensitive data it was asking for. What does it do with that data, does it send it somewhere?
I see no one has responded to your question, so I thought I would let you know my thoughts: I downloaded the OSCAR program for Apple Macintosh and was not required to provide any PII. When I started up the application the first time I was asked to provide identifying information and contact information, but as far as I can tell, this information is ONLY used to create identifying information formatted for printing when you ask for a report to be generated ( I ask for PDF format reports). I don't think any of the information you provide to OSCAR leaves your immediate environment.
I’m new to cpap I get dry mouth between my upper front lip and teeth. How can I fix it??? I’m using a Nose mask.
I’m watching from here in Australia
That's awesome Rosemary! Happy that you found us! I'm jealous of your current winter. It's too dang hot here!
Then his tape would be right side up for you guys
How is this for super sensitive skin ?
Since this video is old I don't know if you'll see this or reply but I recently bought the cover roll tape you recommended in another video because I wanted to try and switch from my Dreamwear FFM to my Dreamwear nasal mask. It's been three nights that I've used it and all three have had leaks. I'm not sure how I'm getting mouth leaks with my mouth taped closed. Are you now recommending the Somnifix instead of the Cover-Roll tape?
No. Cover Roll is amazing. Somnifix is amazingly terrible.
@@Freecpapadvice hey....thanks for the reply! I was just about to watch one of your videos that I think will show how to tell the difference between a mouth leak and a mask leak in OSCAR. I think I know but I want to make sure so I know what I'm seeing is what I think it is.
Dangit it won't work for me I have the full Grizzly Adams look.
Is there a particular soft cervical collar you recommend? I'm using a full face mask and my jaw seems defiant. No matter what straps I've tried my jaw drops downward and inward causing a leak along the bottom edge. This sleep apnoea is destroying my quality of life.
No, it just needs to be very snug in how it fits so that your jaw remains in place.
I‘ve found the soft cervical collar from Walgreens works well but with modifications. The foam around Velcro area is hard and can cause neck discomfort. So I cut off the ends and sew a piece of cloth to one end and reattach a Velcro piece to the cloth strip. The cloth band helps a lot but there is still some slight discomfort.
Can you buy the mask bright in the UK?
People have purchased it from me (from my website), but the shipping is a little ridiculous if I'm being completely honest. I don't upcharge on shipping at all and it's still $30 minimum. That's from maskbright.com
Have tried the mouth taping and it has not really worked for me.
how can i turn back machine hours
Wouldn't there be a leak due to the hole in the somnifix tape?
Okay, my question would be to you the.n Why don’t you just wear a full face mask? The reason I ask is because I am a mouth breather and I want to try a different mask because I am sick of wearing this thing after 11 years.
why my doctor is against taping mouth when i said i was doing it he said not to do this
I use rolled up toilet paper in my chin strap and pull it up over my mouth. Even though I have the ability to breathe through it I still wake up every morning gasping for air. I am going to use an o2 meter to see how much I dip at night and try to figure out why I am not breathing. Mouth tape would only exacerbate the problem. During the day my levels are in the mid 90's as they should be but whether it's tape or toilet paper I still gasp for air when I wake up. I am wayyyy overweight and this issue got worse as the weight really got bad. I am disabled due to arthritis in my spine and knees so exercise isn't an option.
This is nothing but an elaborate ad to buy products!
I've had some positive results with mouth tape as well, BUT I don't like that type because I need tape that is a little wider or it doesn't stay on.
I have a full face mask and can someone please help with really dry mouth that makes me take off my mask because of it
Can anyone tell me what to do about excess phlegm/mucus in the back of my throat, usually in the am? Driving me nuts.
A chinstrap should go under the jaw, not on the chin. You want it to hold vertically from the top of your head not diagonally pulling back.
Wouldn't that be a jawstrap? 😉 The Ruby is a good one that pulls up in the way you describe.
@@Freecpapadvice Yes, it was tragically misnamed from the beginning. ;-)
I Google imaged The Ruby and it comes off the chin diagonally in the images and looks cumbersome. I use the simple lightweight Halo design.
please give the website to downloading Oscar data software

Using nasal inserts in the nose opens up the nostrils and using that tape works well for me.
How do we test it with a Sleepstyle machine?
You don't...yet. I sent in my SleepStyle to a member of the OSCAR dev team about a week ago. Fingers crossed!
I was able to get my father's AHI down to around 5, using the dreamwear mask, but he still has bad leaks. Should I try the humidity before this product? I'm pretty sure his mouth opens at night.
I would certainly try humidification first, especially if you already have it.

Chin Straps work totally for me.
Which chin straps you use??
No matter how high my humidifier, I still have dry mouth. I have tried mouth tape and have torn it off in the middle of the night!. I will keep trying.
Does Resmed airstart 10 has oscar ???
Mouth leaks are such a pain
I have these and I find that they just dont stick good to my lips and do almost nothing other than lose grip and cost lots. I was using surgical tape but it gives me bad rash now on my face. Even the sensitive skin tape causes rash.
Maybe you didn't type that correctly (or mean that literally), but you shouldn't be putting them on your actual lips. You need to purse your lips and they adhere to the skin around them. I've had great results with Somnifix.
@@Freecpapadvice Maybe I was just applying them incorrectly, I will try them again tonight.
What’s the benefit over this product compared to tape 🤷🏻♂️
Size is perfect, sticky enough, but can pull off if needed, slit for some air to escape or enter if needed.
TheLankyLefty27 I just used good ole duct tape!! 🤣🤣😂😂 I guess I need the pap data review.
How long is the VIP30 code good for?
I have no idea. Get it while the gettin' is good! CPAP20 is also active. Sad ol' Lefty16 will always be active as long as cheapcpapsupplies.com/lefty is alive. So there will always be some savings there for you.
TheLankyLefty27 thanks! Im new to CPAP so I am working through Insurance for home and then plan to buy for travel. Just waiting on paperwork I guess before I buy. Love the tips! Thanks for the help on deciding what I may need
They’re tricky to keep on if you’re a sleep drooler.
My god, cheap cpap supplies is just golden! Thanks for this!!! Any suggestions on how I can trick idiotic people to use this tape over their mouth during the day.

@@Freecpapadvice I know what I'll tell them...it's a new covid mask. But seriously, when I went to the Mayo Clinic in 2017 for my rare auto immune mediated neuro disorder, they also ordered up a sleep study. I was then diagnosed with OSA and put on CPAP. Along with Lewis Sumner Syndrome disease identified. A month later when I returned to sleep clinic there to confirm I was compliant with CPAP...I showed them the Sleepyhead software that I learned about from YOU. They were awed and stunned. Anyways, you rock (Fender Strat player here). Keep up the good work my friend and thanks for your help.
Save the plastic cover. It serves as a pattern for using cover roll stretch to make cheap somnifix style mouth strips. I works fantastically well. No more helicopter lips and dry mouth.
No!!! Way to small. Let the two inches work it’s magic. 😄
@@Freecpapadvice No it is not too small. It worked perfectly. I get many and I no longer have mouth leaks.I am so happy. The pattern fits perfectly. Perhaps a tiny bit shaved off but on my thin lips it works like a dream with no helicopter lips or beef jerky tongue all night and I woke up with 7 hours of uninterupted sleep.
@@Freecpapadvice I can't afford somnifex every month. Either they get covered by medicare and insurance or I shall continue to us cover roll stretch which works like an absolute dream!!!
I'll bét I'm cheaper than you Lanky Lefty.
I wish this helped but I’m a drooled and doesn’t work for me. So frustrating. 😕
BEEF JERKY TONGUE! love it ...
REM what's that?
I disagree with the possibility of it helping for sleep apnea. If your sleep apnea is due to your tongue sliding down and back due to open mouth breathing, keeping your mouth closed could prevent or reduce that problem. It all depends on the where the obstruction is and what is the cause of it. But yes, if one sleeps with one's mouth open, it is because that allows (generally) for better air intake. But the solution in that case is that the mouth tape could be used in combination with a nasal dilator.
Sure, if your mouth opening leads to a series of events that causes the airway to be obstructed (from it falling back) then sure. Just one specific type. This product wouldn't solve that though since that's the release mechanism to make it come off in an emergency (pull your jaw back).
I'm sure you're suggesting a chinstrap would help. 😉 It would help if the OSA was caused specifically from the jaw sliding back. It doesn't address a crowded airway from uvula, tongue falling back, enlarged tongue, narrow palate, retrognathia, deviated septum, fatty tissue....etc.
@@Freecpapadvice Right, I'm talking about one specific type of obstruction. You, having worked in a sleep clinic for years, would know better than I the prevalence of that.
I've tried various tapes for keeping my mouth closed, but the only thing I've found is that I drool with my mouth taped. Don't have a problem with drooling otherwise.
I thought about tape but I sometimes take a drink of water at nite
How about you provide a link to mouth guards, which you suggested. I can't find a double sided one. Please please provide a link. Thank you.
I'd like same. There are too many mouth guards for teeth grinding or single sided.
Vel Mano I’ll try to find it when I’m not just in a cellphone. Inexpensive ones are at centurymartialarts.com. Search mouth guards. It’s clear and is $3-5. Get a few because it’s easy to mess up.
I need this for my wife during the day.
This made me literally LOL
Hohoho, so hilarious
just use 1" first aid tape. almost free.
