JerryRigEverything Hey there! Can you please make a video tearing down the Sony Xperia Z3+ , and kinda explain why there is soo much heat build up in the phone, many users face this problem Thanks A humble Subscriber :)
Huge thanks for this video, great service detail! Doing a full rebuild on my S7 Active because I've enjoyed it so much and there's nothing on that market that quite matches its durability and feature set. New screen, new housing, charge port, and battery and it should be good for quite a few years yet!
Yep, until they quit supporting it with updates. I too currently have an S7 active, as well, and I absolutely love it. Everyone is constantly like, “why don’t you upgrade”, “you need a new phone”… and I’m like, “NO THE HELL I DO NOT!!! YOU ENJOY YOUR $1,500 PIECE OF GARBAGE AND JUST KEEP MAKING THE MONTHLY NOTES ON IT UNTIL IT QUITS AND YOU HAVE TO FINANCE ANOTHER NEW PHONE… ALL THE WHILE MY S7 IS OVER HERE JUST CHUGGING RIGHT ALONG, JUST AS GOOD AS EVER AND NOT COSTING ME A SINGLE RED CENT OTHER THAN MY MONTHLY BILL FOR A CELLULAR LINE!!!”. However, I do dread the day that they stop supporting it because I’ll then have no choice but to upgrade. Also, if you don’t mind me asking, where did you find all your replacement parts that you’ve used to “rebuild” your Galaxy S7 Active? Thanks in advance and have a happy New Year!!!
Your video was a blessing. The phone turned on but just a thin blue line in the upper right hand corner. I used the old screen but it did not work. I'm confident replacing the screen will be a piece of cake.
dude you sounds like a pro! really i don't have Samsung active but still i watch your all videos, nice work and my fev video is from your Chanel is repairing of nokia 3310 i remember that snakes! that was funny.!
hey zack! just wanted to say i love this channel and the phone carnage is so satisfying to watch! i've broken about 20 phones since my first one and these videos help me fix them (unless i completely destroyed them). anyways keep up the carnage and you've got another subscription from me!
PS. 5:24, far left of video you forgot to plug in the noise cancelling mic - sat the board down on top of the connector. I did the same thing... Also, there are 12 screws counting the one under the proximity sensor, but theres only 11 holding the mid-body in. So 14 total counting the two in the charge port.
Some batteries are capable of self charging. The quicker the battery drains, the faster it will recharge itself. This is mostly applied to car batteries.
Great work. I may have to start dissecting mine to find out what happened. It is still under warranty so, I may get lucky with just replacing it but there is some minor damage that may void the warranty. My issue is mine just stopped working. The batter died, I plugged it in, fell asleep, woke up and poof, nothing happened. It wont take a charge, nore will it start. The charger connection still feels tight. NEWAYS! If they deny my warranty, I will start digging in to see whats wrong. Great video.
The fact that display survived removal is insane. OLED panels are so damned sensitive to flex from how thin they are. Or at least my experience with Motorola units for the Moto X and Nexus 6. Is the panel in this phone a flexible unit?
1:48 only twice once at the bottom of the screen for the water marking and the pry tool furthest to the right the rest are all cut off so you cant read “jerry rig everything”
I have had this phone for 4 years. Really interesting to see it like this, and learning that the screen is glass and plastic. It has some issues like overheating. Which if it has a hard time with that this summer I may look into a new phone. Probably going to watch so many phone reviews and teardowns this year.
SAME! Had it since first released and previously before the S6 active and can confirm that it does overheat to the point where its hot to the touch. I had an issue with the S6 active with the charging port getting rusted with some water that apparently got inside and had to get the newer version of it. I've definitely already looked for an upgrade this year and going with the note 20 ultra. And since its been already 4 years of tech advancement, I'm really looking forward to what I have now to discover once more like I previously did with this one. To think that around the time this phone came out, it was the flagship of 2016 alongside the regular S7, time sure flies by.
@@jsrocker248 I bought the note 20 ultra as well! My s7 active has been very finicky this year. It gets hot and just slows way down to barely responding, and I need my phone for work!
I apologize if this has been answered already. After putting everything back together I turned the phone on. No display. I then realized that the display ribbon cable wasn't seated all of the way. Doh. Double Doh. Now all I get is a brief flash of a horizontal blue line in the middle of the screen. You warned against this several times. Does this fry the screen, the motherboard, or both? I agree with those that say that your scripting and narration are the best. Thanks in advance.
Did you succeed? I have a family member with a cracked S7 Active as well... It dropped really, really hard on a concrete floor (was launched from a forklift actually). But I'm going to replace the screen asap and trying to fix the old one. I saw videos with very gently heating it up and then remove the digitizer with playcards! I'm curious to your results!
Very interesting. I'm thinking about doing it too. I don't have a cracked screen but just in case if my screen cracks from the removal, I want to have backup.
Your walkthrough of this Teardown, was done very Well. It was informative, It was Well spoken&spoken clearly, making it Easy to understand without an entire explanation. have you done any walkthroughs for a MOTO Z PLAY teardown or a LG V30?
This has been the best phone I've ever had as far as toughness though I got three years from my s5 active. My wife has the s8 active and i don't like the buttonless design. I also wish samsung would have kept with removable batteries. But this 4000mah lasts all day running waze and pandora on my work van. I have had charging issues lately so thinking about changing usb port. Wireless charger works, but I have metal on the back of my phone so it secures to my magnet mount better.
I am missing the back button on my (otherwise unscathed) s7 active, and AT&T, Samsung, and even cell phone replacement have failed to provide me a solution, or THE PART. The dang thing isn't out of warranty yet, but apparently the missing button excludes me from a free replacement. I was wondering if you knew where I could obtain the needed button? This video was the best!
Is there reasons I need to break the phone down past the metal case, like you did, if all I need is a new screen? I probably should replace the battery, but it's still strong, even after about a year and a half. Mahalo and aloha!
Hi, I am having a hard time finding an S7 Active replacement screen. I couldn't see a link on where to find one unless I missed it. Just wanted to see if you could tell me where I could purchase one. Thank you. Your videos are great.
that is a great video I've got a Galaxy S7 active and I only want to replace the back cover do I need a complete teardown of the front screen to do so thank you
Jerry, excellent video really. I am wondering what is the most durable phone you have found. I am looking to buy a new phone since mine is completely destroyed and have repaired it several times. I have been using the Xiaomi Mi line, 2,3,&4c. Now I am going back to Samsung hopefully after all this and not looking back. I have repaired the flex cable, microphone replacement, screen replacement and all kinds of other small repairs on these xiaomis and I hope not to have to do any more coming into my new phone in the future. So my question stands what kind of smartphone can I get today 2017 that will last me a good 5-6 years with only having to maybe switch out batteries....I remember when a phone lasted a long time but now with the advancement of technology we have lost that durability I feel...what do you think and thank you again for your knowledge!
+JerryRigEverything ok thanks! Also I'm thinking of starting a tech channel and was wondering if it would be a good idea to borrow phones from private phone stores by paying them a small fee because at this stage I can't afford to buy every phone on my own. Do you think that would be a good idea?
Hi, can you tell me if I want just to replace battery and charging port on my Samsung Galaxy 7 active can I put the old screen back and do I have to glue it back or adhesive that is already on is good for putting it back in place ? Thank you
So I'm trying to decide whether I should replace the battery myself or take it to a shop. How easily can the screen get broken taking it out, and how much would a normal replacement be if I have the battery?
hey Jerry! Do you think I could remove the screen from my S7 Active without damaging it? Like many others, my back button has fallen off this phone (so much for durable). Anyway I ordered a replacement back button, but I can't put it into the slot due to it having flanged pieces that are meant to sit under the screen assembly. Therefore, I believe I need to lift the screen to place the button into place. So again my question is this: do you think I can lift my screen up without damaging it (i.e. is your example only breaking because it's already broken? My screen is not cracked or broken). Thanks!!!
You’ll have to use a heat gun around the edges to soften the adhesive and work the glass screen up and away from the frame and then you should be able to slip the new button in its place. Search RUclips for “screen removal without cracking” and most every device will be the same principle but just be careful and do not torque the screen and you should be golden.
If I want to replace my battery and not the screen, how good are my chances of cracking my screen after I've started?? I've never replaced parts in a phone before, would it be wise to go ahead and buy a replacement screen just in case? Also, do you have any recommendations for making the charging port tighter without completely replacing it?
Had a serious thought and spent about an hour trying to find the answer anywhere but couldnt find. What are the dimensions of the s7 actives battery? Could you put it in the orginal S7 so you could put have a bigger battery? Please answer!

...Just as intricate as my HTC 10, which I won't attempt home repairs on either... Nope! My sister's SOL! If she's got problems that ever require breakdown on this beast, she has to get her butt to a qualified repair tech too!
Okay, so you know the plastic bumper that is around the phone? Well mine came loose in the upper left hand corner, and is also loose above the activity zone key. Is my phone still water proof? I don't want to dunk it in and find out it's not, and I also don't want to rip the bumper off just to fin out it isn't, and I can't put it back on. Your response will really help.
Did they ever come out with a replacement screen? If so, do you have the link or did you already post it on here? I changed my battery and charging port but i guess i messed up my screen :/
i have the s7 active i have what looks like strips from led damage to my phone from i believe sitting down with the phone in my backpocket with my keys as well.. my question is do i just have to order a new screen since when yu took it apart it all looked as one ??
Hey Jerry Rig everything i love videos on bend tests of phones! But why not tests of android tablets or iPads? I'm sure many of us have a iPad or other tablet and would like to see how durable it is with doing it themselves!! you should start with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A and iPad Mini 2(the 2 tablets i have). and then go to the more common iPad Air/pro the 2018 iPad and then a Galaxy tab S2/ Tab 4
Jerry can u repost the screen replacement links for the S7 Active again cuz i can't find them, also can u tell me what kind of heat gun u use for this, thanks in advance my boi...
Are there replacement screens for the Note 4? I love my phone and in case it breaks once day I want to replace it myself. Where is a good place to buy a new screen if one is available?
I have a question I dropped my meizu m2 note face down and the screen didnt crack but its doing some funky things, my question is that: Is The phone itself is broken or just the digitize broke? because i dont want to buy a replacement screen if the device itself is dead!

i opened many phones, but it amazes me that the screen actually survived that opening. wow
We miss these vids Zack!
Jerry, so after 2:28
is that all we do to replace the screen on the S7 Active?
Anthony Sharp yup
Yup cuz this is a teardown so it includes everything including the removal and replacement of the screen
THANK YOU! Your video helped me get my phone working again.
Hey Jerry I'm glad I found this Chanel my s7 active was shattered but I was able to repair it bc of you. Thanks
Great video! But if our screen is fine and we're doing a battery replacement, what do we do about adhesive? Should be buy some, or reuse old adhesive?
That is what I want to know.
Effective, quick, confident, comprehensive, good pace; what's not to like? Thanks, Jerry.

Some batteries are capable of self charging. The quicker the battery drains, the faster it will recharge itself. This is mostly applied to car batteries.
But with cars, it's because it uses a dynamo like system with the brakes.
there are setting with some phones like the s7 that when certain things are turned off, you get longer battery life.

Good video , and wow , i didn`t think that screen would still light up after being wacked with the hammer :) , good work sir :).
Super AMOLED actually means that the digitizer is built into the panel itself, so a broken glass doesn't affect touch sensitivity at all.
that was my first look into a phone! amazing stuff! thank you
FINALLY! been waiting for this forever T_T
Great work, man!
where did you get the active glass. I can't find it ione for sale.
Scott Basham try eBay or Amazon but don't get the absolute cheapest one usually will destroy the phones internals and definitely check reviews

+JerryRigEverything ok thanks! Also I'm thinking of starting a tech channel and was wondering if it would be a good idea to borrow phones from private phone stores by paying them a small fee because at this stage I can't afford to buy every phone on my own. Do you think that would be a good idea?
after replacing the screen, how likely is it that the phone will be just as water resistant as before?
Hi, can you tell me if I want just to replace battery and charging port on my Samsung Galaxy 7 active can I put the old screen back and do I have to glue it back or adhesive that is already on is good for putting it back in place ? Thank you
I want to know too.
Do you need to do anything fancy with sealing these waterproof phones or would the new screen come with the waterproof adhesive already applied?

Is there a way to replace only the polycarbonate layer? I was disappointed to find out that it was so easily scratched.
