it's a cool video....among those u made...it's the first time u got a fault. but u really display high technique. I love your videos zack. as an IT and a mechanic guy I find yi videos classy and very educative
I always watch these kinds of videos before i buy a new phone. Accidents happen and sometimes we can't prevent them, so i need to know what it takes to fix the phone :) Keep sharing these videos man... but i hope i'll never need them.
Almost got a heart attack while watching you, Jerry!!! I love learning how things work, but with the price tag on this monster, I'd never have the balls to do go as far as the screen...
🤣 - In todays repariblity score I would give this an 8 - My brother kept is OG Note 7 and just replaced the battery with a Note Fan Edition one when Samsung was still selling original parts for their phones!! Remember those days!!!
@@megatronskneecap really wish i could find a new fe battery. They are extremely hard to find, I purchased a fe battery from aliexpess but it started to expand so i reinstalled the stock battery. My other note 7 doesn't have a battery so a new fe battery for that.
Excellent video! Thanks for this. I work at a mobile repair shop for a living and we have yet to see one of these, so it's nice to get an inside look before one does come in. Yes, that first ribbon cable you sliced off the screen was the S-pen digitizer connector. I hope they won't all be this tough to take apart! Gotta love that the home and menu button array is finally separate from the charge port. On S6 thru S7 edge and Note 4 and 5, the menu buttons were part of the charge port. So if you needed to replace the charge port, you had to lift the screen without damaging it.
+JosephKing75 CBP ...no again? I've never watched any of his videos. nor has anyone I know ever watched one of his videos. I've only seen one of his videos recommended to me, his OPO video and I never clicked it. don't think your experiences equal everyone else's. anyways, go watch his Zach's "mouse proofing my grandfather's cabin" video. Cuz in that video, he says "my grandpa's name was Jerry and he was known for Jerry rigging things". so by your logic, barnacles is copying Zach (which is still wrong, it's just a phrase used king before either of them used it).
Your amazing! Not the typical boring RUclips that stalls by asking for subs and likes etc. You just get down the point immediately! Which I love. And when you do suggest a sub, your very brief about it which makes you want to sub more then going on and on about it like other typical youtubers. Also funny and never gets boring. Got a sub from me and please keep up the amazing work!!!!
Thank you for making this video and for the sacrifice in the making of this video... 😢 The Note 5 and Note 5 Edge were literally everthing that I didn't want. Now that Samsung brought back expandable storage, water and dust resistance, as well as the IR blaster. If I could make a change to the design without any problems(water/dust resistance) it would be a removable and user replaceable battery! I still have the Note 4 and think I'm finally ready to upgrade to the Note 7! It's almost everything I want in a phone!
+NetherHound I didn't either but didn't he mention that it has one in this video? If I'm mistaken that is a bit upsetting but it's all good. Time to go to bed lol
+Raj Rohila yes he did say it, but i think he just miss spoke it, because he said that he would talk about it more but showed us the iris scanner, too bad though, it got my hopes up
wow, you made amazing video! Samsung makes good steps in constructing their phones, really big improvement about hardware buttons under the screen, which was connected with changing port.
man i have bcome your fan!!......just got to know about your cannel....really great job brother.....and yes your voice is awesome......keep doing the great work.....subscribed to your channel......and liked each video i have watched!!...really appreciate!!
Would love to see your reaction to AA's article about the scratch resistance video. I for one, don't buy the official explanation. Sounds like a marketing ploy to me.
Thanks for the informative video. It's a shame that the display is not easily replaceable without going through everything you did. I highly recommend getting whatever equipment protection plan your carrier offers if you're going to get this phone. I always do regardless of any reviews. I currently have the LG V10 but I am highly drawn to making this my first ever Galaxy Note phone I have ever owned. Only feature I dislike is the battery cannot be removed.
Couple things, i would recommend using guitar picks instead of your iseasmo, it'll help prevent the silver back from coming off the back. and heres a pro tip for ya! as you start taking the screen off dribble some 99% iso alcohol in there, and it will separate the adhesive, its a little messy but will provide a MUCH better result than the old fashioned heat and pry method
+JerryRigEverything I have a question should I get the s7 or s7 edge or note 7 gonna upgrade currently have the s5 for 2 years which will last more in the long run
rip to anyone who breaks their note 7 screen. what i got from this video is that it is pretty much impossible and unless you want to gamble $900 you'd better just suck it up and live with that screen
hiesenberg the battery could have to burst to combust into flames. And as much as I LOVE the note series, this one goes boom at an alarmingly easy rate
Good to see that putting in a new battery is not a major deal as i know a lot of removable battery fans get a bit OTT because of phones without one. As for changing the screen, well that is a serious job and one for a Samsung repairer and the associated cost. I know the iphone is much easier to replace a screen but Apple do tend to make them as easy as possible so they can be repaired in their shops. One day Samsung will work that out. Looks well put together though and a marvel of technology, getting all that into a small package.
Yes, I think the con's outweigh the pro's when attempting a DIY fix for the screen. As much as it's great Samsung's been able to water proof their phones, they pretty much rely on glue to hold the two panels together. I hope-given the amount of resources they have and their capable engineers-that one day they will create a design as easy to repair like that on the iPhone, while still making them water proof, strong etc.
After watching the Blackberry Priv screen repair video, it's interesting how it compares to this repair video. The Priv also has a curved screen, but it's much easier to replace compared to the Note 7. It comes to show that one doesn't have to over-design the phone to be very good.
Thank you sir for always making this useful and informative videos. It always helps me in deciding when buying Smartphones. I'm so ecstatic to see that thick metal frame of The Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
How to disassemble your Note 7: "Just don't. You're going to fuck it up, be out of $900 and hate yourself." You did an amazingly meticulous job, JerryRigEverthing. I tried this with my old Droid 4 and a couple of iPods and I have come to the conclusion that taking apart these tiny personal electronic devices is not a skill I come equipped with.
Love the teardown! Liked the simple modular pieces on the Note 7 unlike the iPhone 7 which uses large fragile cable stickers. Still no love for Samsung's method of removing the screen though, glue ain't fun
you see, the frame is that big firstable because it helps to hold the whole phone together since the phone is nearly bezel-free. makes it also stronger. secondable the phone has an internal heatpipe the "big" aluminium frame helps the heat to spread a little, that way we dont feel the phone heating up fast.
Nice to see they took the back and recent apps buttons off of the usb charger chip, that was such a terrible experience when replacing my s7 egde screen as the button came off with the screen and I didn't realize it at the time and of course had to order that part as well before replacing the screen, which also means taking the screen off to do a usb port repair. Luckily I wirelessly charge the phone but still if you ever need to replace it definitely want someone whose done so before haha. This phone is more refined that's for sure I like the changes to the inside still sucks to open and change the screen but it seems like the other components are easier to deal with than before.
Cool video as usual, was a pleasure to watch. Can you please do a video on screens? I'm sure many are as curious as I am to see how the different layers of the screen are put together. Since you'll be replacing this screen, you can use it to make such a video.

Rather than a pull tab (which, I hear, breaks off sometimes), why not embed 2 fine wires into the adhesive which can be connected to a power source? This would heat the adhesive enough to allow easy separation of the parts. Replacing the part in it's original location and re-applying power would allow the seal to be reset.
From 4:03 to 4:06 you told that - "A phone isn't a phone without the headphone jack", but then "electronic devices" like the Le Max 2, Moto Z and the upcoming iPhone 7, what will you call them
