- The HTC U Ultra is the newest phone from HTC... and it hasnt been super well received in the tech world. Maybe thats because it wasnt built for techies? Lets find out what is missing inside this super expensive $750 'flagship' device from HTC. Did HTC have room to include a headphone jack or wireless charging inside the U Ultra?

KHGlass How? People don't care about tech and get iPhone's. Nothing wrong with those people either. They both just want a shiny phone that works. They have certain things they like and really know about and we have no clue on. Whatever topic/product you like you will have more knowledge on something than the person who uses it for mainstream purposes. Cars for example...have a Honda Accord and do not know shit about cars except for driving it. So it is not surprising they want to capitalize on it....or at least try

I build and repair computers, currently in school majoring in computer tech , currently working on a huge water cooling project, etc etc., yet I own an iPhone. I actually switched to iPhone after the whole Note 7 fiasco and I'm glad I did. I don't use or care about a headphone jack since I've already been using Bluetooth, I don't care about wireless charging because it's not technically wireless and I can't use my phone, and many many more including I just prefer iOS. I don't need all the extra customization nonsense like how I do on my custom builds. But stuff like iPhones being shinny and all that is just extra icing on the cake.
Edit: That's just me though. I'm sure some people buy iPhones just because it's shinny and such but it's definitely not everyone.
+technoguy Personally I prefer Android over iOS, not just for it's customization but for it's overall ecosystem... p[lus it doesn't hurt that I'm not a fan of Apple's build quality. However, I can understand someone who has used a Samsung preferring iOS anyway... Samsung happens to have one of the slowest, laggiest versions of Android & the most bloatware heavy. I went with HTC for a several years & then switched to a Note 4 so I could use the S-Pen & I must have suffered about 10 times more lag and poorly thought through design ideas on that Note 4 in the first couple of weeks than the whole 2 years of the HTC M8.

I remember when HTC was unjustly criticised for copying the iPhone design despite the One M7 pioneering it originally. They fought the stereotype pretty hard. I never thought they'd pull a backflip and jump on the wireless-less/headphone jack-less iPhone bandwagon so closely. Shame...
Heinskitz The iPhone wasn't the first phone to remove the headphone jack. Android did it first, Moto Z did it before the iPhone 7.

Yes they do. And for the record, the M8 and HTC10 had slightly better audio quality than the Axon 7, which is still an awesome phone.

What sucks is that HTC has had some great ideas and their software layout is second only to Google's pixel. Sucks to see them not learn from their mistakes
An HTC phone should have
-dual front facing speakers
-very good camera (not samsung/pixel good, but still decent)
-a metal build
-understated look, not flashy
-great battery life (should be one of the best)
Their software is already great and simple, they don't need all the fancy stuff that Samsung has
Errhka you are like me, the HTC 10 was almost perfect but his battery was a little low for what I was searching so I bought a Nexus 6P is better but 810 and too big make me want to buy another middle-high/high phone for Christmas
Errhka honestly they act like they're allergic to making money. they took a bite off of the v20 with the second display but still have last years specs? like damn you have your hand in the cookie jar might as well take more stuff. no im not complaining they stole it I'm haooy they do this because it makes the phone better (or worse) depending on the person
I think Motorola's software is better than HTC Sense, honestly.
It's a shame. The way that HTC is going, the company won't exist in a few years.
HTC's iteration of Android is the only non Google or custom ROM that I would ever consider using.

Let me clear some things up:
7:15 This metal "boxes" are shields, their main role is to block EMF going in and out of ICs.
8:03 This flat-flex is only for DC power. DC doesn't interfere, because there is not fast enough change in voltage (and current). Car's "12V DC" is very noisy (running alternator). In addition coax will block rest of the noise.

This is straight up wrong, Every conductor which has a voltage applied emmits a Electro-magnetic field that can interfere other conductors running parallel to another. Also the interference is at max 0,1 volts.. That wouldnt do nothing if only AC could interfere.

The internal structure on this is so similar to the Note 4, yet Samsung managed to put a 3220 mah *removable* battery into it, while HTC uses a mediocre 3000mah battery.
the s7 edge is smaller and has 3600mah, the regular s7 is even smaller and has the same battery capacity
And still has a headphone jack and nfc

They actually do destroy their brand. I bought an htc phone and its screen cracked on the first drop. Not only that, the touch 100% stopped working. I've owned 4 smartphones and this is the only one which cracked so fast AND whose touch stopped working. Other phone whose screen cracked was an iPhone 4 but its touch never failed. Have dropped my Vivo v3 multiple times and it hasn't cracked till now. Had it for 2 years.

But Apple got rid of 3.5mm jack not for space or even cost efficiency of the phone, but for profit in a way of forcing other companies that manufacture headphones to use Lightning port and also they, Apple, won't pay licencing for 3.5mm jack, since they did not make it. You explained this in your video Jerry right? Well.... Crap. :D
And as apple does something, all OEMs follow.
That's just how much influence Apple has in the Tech world.
The space from where the headphone jack was gave them room to put in a bit larger battery and a larger Taptic Engine.

Lol I'd love HTC to explain how this phone is $375 better than my OnePlus 3T. Theres so many better ways to waste your money. You could eat it, use it as toilet paper, smoke it, or just gamble in Vegas. HTC is sunk for good.

It's so weird to look back at how large bezels phones used to have and here we are. Using phones with notch display, punch hole displays or simply bezeless with pop up cameras.

In 2017, I wanted to get either an lg v20 or the htc m8. So glad i chose the v20. Watching this on the v20 right now (w/headphones on) and this phone is still going strong.
Now the phone is €315 in the netherlands so its a realy good phone fot the price
