I had the 3 and currently have 4 and have ordered the 5. Never had an issue with the 3 or 4 so I mean an upgrade to durability would make it even better. I was not even aware of the upgrade to that.

@artstreak5346 Fold. There is a crease slightly but unless you look at your phone from a side on angle for some reason you'll never notice it to be honest. I've never been hindered or annoyed by its existence.
@@jeffthesquiddid you have any issues with the inside screen protector in fold 4? I own a fold 3 and have to change the protector every 6 months once due to bubble on the crease area.

The psychedelic thin layer on the motherboard/ PCBA could be paralyne coating for moisture protection.
Conformal coating is very thick and not good for RF signals. So they might choose this paralyne coating.
It's actually a very interesting process.
How do they do this in mass production? Looks like it takes time inside the temperature controlled chamber to apply. Takt time seems high for mass production. Also needs high level of cleanliness which I think that’s not an issue.
@@JeromeDemers part of the deposition process (well, the pyrolysis part) is at temperature, but deposition is around ambient (25-ish C) - there are plenty of mass-production vapor deposition processes used - you could even farm out the parts to numerous job shops that will coat the boards up for you (you populate the board, then apply the parylene as a conformal coating over everything to provide moisture resistance)

Most likely the PCBA was designed by Motorola and then outsourced for mass production.
At most, Motorola would only handle SMT processes and then send them to multiple vendors for coating.
And not that they are going to sell millions of these devices😅. So at this low quantity, it is doable.

As someone who jumped ship from Samsung to Moto for this one phone (still own and actively use a Fold 4 and S23 ultra) I really hope Zack didn't just ensure the demise of the Razr by getting them sued into oblivion lololol. Lol i have m51 and 2020 midranger of samsung it had amoled screen and 730g 4g chip but best mid range you could get lol phone still runs on android 12 and july 2023 patch but my this phone had 7000mah cell inside and battery lasts ages in all 2.7 years i only had 374 charging cyles and it charged in 115 min from 25 watt i want samsung to make a phone like this with 7 plus gen2 it had single speaker still great headphone jack dual sim along with decated micro sd support yeah it was plastic who cares it is so good that despite using s22 plus i using my main sim in this still a nice daily driver also tells most users dont need all that power 730g still chugs along fine handles most games too

The perforations on the perforated looking wire are actually "Vias", basically vertically strips of wire that are usually grounded. This helps against interference from other signals nearby.
They refer to these as Via shields, Via fences (or) Stitching Via's

Retesting that void is a good thing for consumers but maybe test how likely damage can occur in real usage would be a bonus.
Also I think that the multiple cuts due to camera and flashlight in the screen might have caused the rigidity to get a little low.

Wonderful outer display but I feel that Motorola should've have increased the specs over and beyond Samsung in every way just to get it's foot in the door as the best flip phone, and be known for that. The processors should be not the ones Samsung used 2 years ago but the latest. Maybe even added a extendable storage just to get reel in more custom. Missed a trick here.
Dude, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is from last year and not 2 years ago... Also Motorola is being developing this device before Snapdragon unveil the latest Gen 2...
People who complain about the processor in a phone are not actual users of the phone. At this point, processor improvements make no practical difference to the user, most of the performance is lost in poor software optimization.
@@gamechannel1271 agree i use my m51 along with s22 plus it has 60hz 730g ufs 2.1 still its still smooth and does 100% of what most pepole do when iandroid 12 was last os upgrdes but still getting patches just got the july patch the phone is smooth this was 2020 midrange flagship from those era like s20 with 865 s21 are still go strong for 3 to 4 years even this i think will pull next year

However, Samsung still hasn't reduced that hideous crease. They've gotten really lazy.
Crease will always be there it's something no one can do a thing about. That's just the part of smartphone that fold. That technology to have 0 crease is just not there yet.
@Edgar.55 Well, other Android OEMs managed to make foldables with a crease that's way shallower even after just 2 generations.
Meanwhile, Samsung has 4 generations of foldables yet their crease is still so deep you can fit a Submersible with 5 people inside.
Even the RAZR has a much less obvious crease
I've had a flip 1 for 3 years and the crease never bothered me. Just got the flip 5 today because the flip 1 stopped sending texts and calls.

I am a maintenance supervisor for multi family housing. I got my tmobile version day 1 release with a gear4 case. I am rough on my phones and this thing takes a beating hands down. Of course any phone without a case is not ideal but the Razr+ is just as good phone as anything on the market. Good entertainment to watch but realisticly if you case your phone and dont drop it in a mud puddle you're going to be fine.

What's the point of having 'Ultra Thin Glass' if the outer layer is still soft plastic that dents under a finger nail?
The top layer is the one you're always touching so that to me is the most important.. and I'm not sure if I can stomach the change from Victus glass to soft plastic

I once went to an Apple facility in California where they built components that went into the phone and the security was that of a high level military base. I even had an escort and was told not to ask questions and wasn’t allowed to venture too far into the facility. All the workers worked at long tables and each one was separated by a privacy screen. Each employee looked to be performing a highly specific task and the knowledge of what they were doing was obviously compartmentalized. I asked my escort what part of the phones they were building and he told me he couldn’t answer that, so I said “otherwise you’d have to kill me?” Overall weird experience, I don’t get the secrecy when anyone could just take apart a phone and reverse engineer it.
