Paul Clark ❤ I can't possibly thank you enough!! My mother who is 91 years of age and has spent the last month battling a fractured hip, lung infection and having a pacemaker fitted. We thought we could be losing her at one point physically or mentally but this evening, she sat watching Watercolour Wednesday!!!🎉🖌️🎨👩🎨🖼️
She smiled and discussed the use of pastel pencils, the various colours you used and how wonderfully detailed the bark on the tree was!! God bless you and your talent!
God bless Watercolour Wednesday!!🎉😊🎊
💛🙏
Hi Charlotte - Wow, that's wonderful to hear and happy to help in any small way - do say 'hi' to your mum for me!
It's your painting, you can call it what you like! Whatever you call it, it's well worth our time spent watching, I know that! ❤ XXX
Good of you to say - thanks!
Yippeee your back, you’ve been missed 👍
Hey, thanks! good to be back!
Thank goodness you are back ! I missed my Wednesday morning, coffee and Watercolor painting with Paul!
Enjoy! ... thanks so much!
I call it utterly beautiful. Your paint retreat is on my bucket list. I am so jealous and want to spend time with like minded artists!
You can do it! ... we do have a lot of fun!!!
Lots of mini lessons and "reasons why" in this demonstration - Thank you so very much! I hope you feel a bit rested despite working your butt off in your "vacation" workshops. We missed you and appreciate all you do for this watercolor community!
Very kind Linda, thanks!
The bark on that tree is amazingly realistic! And I loved the "mad" colors while they were visible.
Thanks!
What a wonderful painting! ❤ and what a great tutorial! You really show the fun and love for painting in everything you do. And you can ‘label’ your paintings any way YOU like. I love how you show us so many different methods and techniques, adding a little of other media for highlights. I learned so much. And I really think some people take themselves and labelling a little bit too seriously. Thank so much for everything.
Thank you so much 😀
"Off we go!" Love hearing that. Welcome back! The craggy crevices in that main tree were spectacular!
Great to hear - many thanks!
Oh my word! That was a L-O-N-G 3 weeks! Welcome back! Thank you!
Thank you too!
Absolutely beautiful dear Paul! Thank you so much! 💐💖❤️
You are very welcome
Thanks yet again for helping me see composition, shadows, and accents. Look forward to learning by doing.
My pleasure!
Good afternoon ☕🫖🍩🍛dear Paul! Finally, you appeared in your cozy studio and Jacqueline and I are happy that you are with us again! During this time, we managed to miss you, because... I’m used to watching your wonderful lessons on Wednesdays. I hope you had a great rest 🏖️🏝️🏕️ during this time, gained strength, new impressions, and now you will share with us your positive impressions from the trip. And I thank you for another wonderful video and give you a like 👍, as always , and I wish you health, peace, good luck, our dear Paul!!💐❤️💋🖼️🎨🖌️🖍️📝✏️🖐️☺️
Yay!!! A new video from my favorite RUclipsr! ❤❤❤and artist! 🎨🖼️🖌️I’ve got my ☕️ coffee and I’m settled down to watch.
@@stampinturtles Hello!Well done, sit and watch and don’t forget to take a sip of coffee with
maple syrup, it gets cold quickly!😅😅😅😅☕💋And I'm drinking a cup of hot tea with biscuits and also enjoying Paul's video from Ibiza! Thanks to Paul!
Hi Adela! - yes great to be back ... it was a great trip but not necessarily a great rest! take care and thanks again for your comments!!!
I missed the weekly tutorials, so glad you are back. There doesn't seem to be a drawing on the website.
Many thanks ... yes, sorry a bit late but it's there now!
Hi Paul, thanks again for this great tutorial! 🌼 Even without painting along there is so much to learn just by watching the video! I love all these little tips and explanations, it's so much more interesting than without any narration. ☺️
Cheers ... happy to help!
glad you're back! Another wonderful tutorial from which I can learn so much! 👍👌
Thanks so much!
Masterful! Thanks for all the great tips and techniques.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Karel here from America glad you are back. I used to be in the Shoreline Plein air painters in CT. Took early retirement at 50 an moved to Florida. I still learn tips from you. That wood tip on big tree what texture. Wow it was gorgeous. We traveled to Spain an Greece with our group an Charles Gruppe. Your art getaways look so much fun. Wish I was there.
That is awesome! ... thanks for sharing Karel!
Nice video, thank you, esp tje rocks and bark instruction. Can't wait to try this one. Would love to see you do something with bokeh effect to get your take on the technique. Appreciate keeping tje reference photo up more!
Thanks so much - check out this video of mine if you like the bokeh effect: ruclips.net/video/Ya9sAoLzR5Y/видео.html
You're back! All is right with my Wednesday World again 😊 And you came back with your A game....Thanks! A lovely lesson in handling greens and foliage and rocks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I appreciated your comments on mixing greens. Do you ever add a touch of red when mixing your greens?
Oh yes, quite often when I want to add a touch of warmth.
Oh I have to echo the last commenter's comments; I hope you had a great vacation and a good rest, but I missed your tutorials! You are and continue to be an awesome educator; I realize that I need to slow down (I am so impatient) and not do too many darks right off the bang, so I have room to add details. I hope that life is treating you well.
Thanks for your lovely comment!
Welcome back and thank you for your time! Loved this painting and the bark detail. I also loved the addition of the blue pastel to bring sky peeking through the branches - great idea. I want to also thank you for having the painting or photo reference more often - it really helps to see where you are going with the painting or what we can do to add or subtract to make it our own! Truly thank you for your time I don't know if that added a lot more work for you, but appreciate it!! :0)
Thank you so much Jenell - and for the tip with the photo! cheers!!!
I’ve missed watching your videos-happy that you are back online!
Yay! Thank you!
hello..
Merci beaucoup. Généralement un léger angle d'environ 15 degrés
Such a pleasant surprise to see the tutorial. The brush and paint creating magic on the paper. Thank you for sharing
Thanks so much 😊
Magic ! That’s all I can say . Your painting is mesmerizing. Thank you for all your tutorials!
My pleasure ... thanks!
Excelente tu trabajo pictorico felicidades gran maestro....🇲🇽🇲🇽...
que amable, muchas gracias
Welcome back Paul.. it felt so long. Hope you had a wonderful vacation.
Many thanks and yes, a great trip! ... need a holiday now!
Nice to have you back 🎉. The tree in the foreground is so amazing
Thanks ... and good to be back!
Beautiful! And it looks like a photo. 😍
Many thanks!
I love how you added texture to the tree trunk it looks real, I just want to touch it !
Thanks so much!
Lovely painting! I think it’s better than the reference photo. It’s interesting to see what you include and take away (like the rocky coastline) and as far as the mixed media part it’s good to note that if your students plan to enter a watercolor contest to follow their rules. If they allow some pastel or gouache then great. I was debating entering a contest but not sure I am ready for that.
I’ve really missed your videos on Wednesdays and just want you to know that I pray for you every day and hope you are doing well and are all recovered from your surgery. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️ I do hope to come take a class in person someday. Your trip to Ibiza looks fabulous! Much love from Alabama.
Always great to hear from you Jacquline - many thanks as always!
Hi dear Jacqueline! 🖐️😊
@@adelabadova3105 hello sweet friend! 👋🏻❤️😊🙏🏻
Welcome back. I think everyone has missed you. Another great tutorial, thank you Paul for all your hard work
Thanks .. and good to be back!
Welcome back, Paul! You're a master at painting/art, but I especially love the way you paint your trees. No one else can get them quite the way you do. Thank you for another great tutorial, and showing us your secrets.
Thank you very much!
Welcome back. Hope you had a wonderful trip. What a beautiful location. Can’t wait to give this one a try. Thank you!!!!
Hope you enjoy it! - many thanks!
Spectacular! Thankyou! ❤ XXX
Very kind ... cheers!
It’s nice to have you back Paul, like many of your regular followers I’ve been looking forward to it. I especially loved the bark on that tree ❤
Great to hear! ... thanks!
What kind of pastel pencils do you use?
They are Faber Castel - pit pastel pencils
Lovely scene, amazing effect as usual! The trees have so much character, and the rocks three dimensional. Thank you! So glad the videos are back - I was in withdrawal :-)
Thank you so much 😀
Again...thanks for your lessons. I´ll take your techniques for my illustrations. Thanks. From Chile.
You are welcome over there in Chile! ... (you do make some very nice wine!)
Awesome scene! Good to have you back, Paul! Thank you….
My pleasure!
Yippee so pleased you are back, there has been a depression over Spain, i can tell you 😂. a great tutorial, love the bark on the tree, so realistic. Hope you had a lovely time in Ibiza, cheers Paul
Lol!!! thanks very much ... good to be back!
Lovely work! It’s good to see that you’re not “ barking “ up the wrong tree. Sorry I couldn’t resist. 😂🤣😹. Hope you’re having a superfine day, Mr Clark 🍹
Lol! Thank you Nancy, that's almost as bad as some of my jokes!!!
@@ArtbyPaulClark I got my weird sense of humor from my father, God rest his soul 💁♀️
Glad you're back. I LOVE trees, especially ones that grow through rocks. Resilience, huh?! Thanks for your encouraging and relaxing style. I'm learning a LOT from your instruction and demonstrations. I've had many "Aha" moments. Hope your holiday was great and your dog has fully recovered. -Pam Glass P.S. I don't mind if you call your paintings watercolor or whatchamacallits.
Thanks Pam - great comment!!!
wether "aquarelle" or "mix media", l love today' painting! 😊
Ah, that's kind .... thanks!
Hi Paul.
Perhaps at some stage you could share with us some of your early or beginner painting works? It might be very encouraging for some of us? Thank you. Steve (New Zealand).
Hi Steve - good plan ... I've got a Q&A video coming soon so I'll include a few it that. Cheers!
This is so good, what a stunning piece ☺☺
Thank you so much!
What an amazing painting! The trees look beautiful and so realistic. The bark work is lovely! What a pleasure to watch!
Thank you so much 😀
Nice. As for the "mixed media question, I just ask myself if I'm doing a "watercolour" or am I doing a painting? Sometimes, people seem more interested in labels than what they're labelling.
Great comment - thanks Doug!
Love all your tutorials. Many thanks for your good teaching. As always, another job well done.
You are very welcome
Hey Paul, what rigger brush do you use? Sorry if you mentioned and I missed it. Lovely painting.
It’s a no#3 rigger from my own range 👍
Finallyyyyyyyy you are back, missed your tutorials so much, okay, you and your humor too 🤩
The technique making this lovely bark is very interesting, thanks for showing, I will try it these days too, thanks 🙏🏻
Thank you so much!! ... and happy to be back!
Great to have yous back, a long 3 weeks for us. Beautiful painting, love the rocks my fingers can't seem to scratch the paint off. The rigger is one of my favorites too. Thanks Paul, great vacation shot. Sherry
Thanks as always Sherry!
Again you have created a beautiful painting. Happy your back with us and sharing gifts,
Thank you so much 😀
Nice painting of Ibiza, spanish coast, my country. Ibiza island has a lot of wondelful sceneries, beaches and coves.
Many thanks and what a great place to live!!!
hi paul. brian from across the pond. welcome home. this week's question is do you ever paint on watercolor canvas? thanks.
Hiya - no I never have ... but it's on my list to try!
Love watching you paint, Mr C. This is so gorgeous.👏👏🏝
Very kind .... thanks!
Really enjoyed this pretty scene! I have a photo from our recent trip to Hawaii that has a tree situation like yours, so this will help me make decisions how to make it the best I can! Thank you so much for all your work, effort, and creative work to bring these great tutorials to us. I appreciate it!
Sounds great! ... have fun!
Good morning Paul ! So nice to have you back for “Watercolor Wednesday” , thank you for another beautiful tutorial !
My pleasure 😊 and good to be back... thanks Gretchen!
Great painting, thank you. Feel like I want to go on holiday now.
Many thanks ... and book that holiday!
There would be no painting at all if it weren't for the watercolours, and a bit of finishing with whatever is needed is m'wah 💋 ppl should stop the whining. Bravo!
Great comment ... many thanks!
I love your videos and have learned so much from them in the last few years. My question is: How do you sharpen you pastel pencils?
Many thanks - Yes I do find they snap very easily with a pencil sharpener - I usually use a scalpel.
Beautiful painting, I loved it, thanks for demonstration 👌🙏
Thank you! Cheers!
l just love the way you describe about all techniques you use.. All of your works are just awesome ❤
Thank you so much 😀
Super tutoriel pour peindre les côtes méditerranéennes 🥰 !! Étant de Nice, ça m'intéresse, merci Paul Clark 😊❣️
merci beaucoup!
Thanks so much for another great tutorial! I was fortunate to have attended your workshop in Ibiza in person and learned a ton from you and Margot. For anyone who is interested in attending a workshop in person, I highly recommend it! Can't wait to paint this and relive the experience!
Thanks for the great comment Sean and it was great to meet you both!
I knew someone that insisted that if you did a pencil lay in before doing your pen drawing it was a mixed media not an ink drawing. 🙄 Unless you are entering a competition with strict rules don't worry about what it's called.
Good call!
Hey paul, lots of love from india ❤. You have made watercolor a lot easier 😄
Happy to hear that!
Good afternoon, dear Paul! Here we are, with another piece of Art! You did magic once again, inspiring us, teaching us and make us to smile. Wonderful tutorial, thank You! Greetings from Moldova, Lilia Birnaz ❤
Thank you so much Lilia! 😀
So happy to have you back…can’t wait to give this a go…it is beautiful
Thanks .. and good to be back!
Please know that you have been missed! I couldn’t wait until this morning for Watercolor Wednesday! I was like a little kid at Christmas.
This painting did not disappoint! It’s simply beautiful! You make it look so easy - definitely going to “give this one a go”.
Oh thank you Angie! - happy to help!
❤ very nice painting! Your painting is better than the photo! ❤

Thanks .. and good to be back!
Welcome back! 😊 this is amazing. Hope you’ve had lovely painting holidays. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Thank you! 😊
Hello Paul,
This is absolutrly stunning. Soo beautifully done. Love the boulders and the perfecf shading you have done , hence creating ledges and effects.
I have always said that No one paints Trees like you. Amazingly real. The twiggy branches cascading over the water, with your techinique to brush stroke the leaves. The dainty , wispy effect you created. Mmmmm just dreamy.
And your bark ripples effect. Ooif its sooo perfect. The colors you chose especially for the barks are 💯% perfect.
I am going to try painting trees like you. If i achieve even 20% closeness i'll be happy for now 🥰
Your painting makes me want to pick up a book and curl into one of your tree barks to read. Listening to the lapping of the water.
Absolutrly amazing.
Thankyou , very much Paul , for your beautiful and inspiring videos 🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏
Take care and have a wonderful week. 💖
Great comment as always Sonia - thanks very much!
I'm so happy you are back Paul. The tree bark is amazing. So if you used gouache it would still be watercolor...right? People overthink too much. I love this subject. With all the textures it really pulled me into the scene.
Thank you for another fabulous tutorial❤️
Many thanks and yes, in my view, still a watercolour.
