      @@davidwebbart just share you’re process,having fun,bit of advice.Not all has to be tutorial.I bet you can share ton of useful for artists information,you sed you have workshops-can show tiny snippets of that,have exposition-show that,packaging and shipping off works-just show it...Advice where to sell? How to get and chose art dealer? Digital Platforms,favourite tools list(like favourite brushes,papers or even eraser if you’re fan of any particular things or reviews and so on.
      I’m painting all my life,self thought,art supplies always where my favourite toy and now being adult just have need to paint EVERY DAY...Just now contemplating selling,becoming publicly artist cos have 3 old and sick dogs and need extra money for those vet bills.Dont know how to do it better,I’m definitely not giving my works away for pennies on Etsy(just too greedy and love my own works too much😂)thinking about getting decent art dealer-agent,make my first exposition something around those lines.So all art advice is very highly valued,I’m interested to know all as much possible,just conversations between creative people. You’re painting process is very clear,clean,logical,laconic...I like how you feel colour,light.Way of explanation is not pretentious and at the same time there is no ton of useless water,all information is there cos makes sense. I suspect you’re properly educated artist,with huge art school knowledge behind back and ton of experience,most of the things obvious to you are total enigma to me so not just tutorials are Wellcome,any chitchat with colleges,people who visit you’re workshops,How are artists living today,from one side it’s easy,pretty much everyone can sell from home,from other side there is so much where to chose,loads of scams,loads of competition,hard to get lost in sea of offer.So I’ll watch it all.Long videos in real time+simple talk also welcomed,cos I like good company while painting my self..In other words don’t hold you in stiff frame,trust me pretty much all you do and don’t even film is very interesting to people like me.Not like I’m planning to copy all what you do(that wouldn’t be even possible)but what could serve and help me in my process,why not to take good advice if it’s there. So just enjoy you’re self,no need to lock you’re self in stiff frames and have fun 💗💐🍀 Very nice to meet you David,Best of luck in all🍀

    I like your comment about over doing the detail and having to be disciplined about putting down the brush and walking away. That is so important and so hard to do as a beginner. Thank you. I love your style. 🇨🇦

      Hi Anne. Thanks for your comment. It is one of the hardest stages of the painting. Joseph Zbukvic says it best...

      Hi Alice. Thanks for your comments. Yes, I realise now that I should have mentioned the colours I used. They were: Cobalt blue, Alizarin crimson, Burnt sienna, Raw sienna and a small touch of, I think, Lemon yellow for the greens on top of the cliff. Thanks for watching.

    I noticed ,you mentioned about 3 washes.
    I wonder if every painting needs to be laid in 3 steps or is there more?

    • @davidwebbart
      @davidwebbart  Год назад

      Thank you. I'm glad the video was helpful to you. I think most of my paintings are done with about three washes. Sometimes, even two. I try not to use more than three if I can as I am careful not to overwork it.

    Just subscribed as I am ver impressed with the simplicity with which you are tutoring. So helpful to beginners like me.
    One request,
    If you can show or spell out the colours during the painting process, it will further help in grasping.
    After the first wash, did you wait for the paint to dry before starting the second wash ? Ofcourse you did and explained this between the second and third nodoubt.
    Thank you Sir.

      Hello Nathan. Thanks for your comments. This video is one of my first so I was still getting used to working in front of the camera. I do list the colours at the end but you are right, it would be helpful to show them during the video.
      In my later video, Painting Outdoors ~ Rocky Seascape near Elberry Cove, I do actually say what colours I am using.
      And yes, I did allow the colours to dry before starting the second wash.
      Thanks for subscribing.

    How do you not get mud. You must not play with it too much?

    • @davidwebbart
      @davidwebbart  Год назад +1

      Hi Lauraine. Thanks for your question. It's always a danger with watercolour. It's surprisingly easy to achieve mud. The way I avoid it is by not overmixing the colours. Like you say in your comment, I try not to play with it too much. Quite often , in my paintings, you'll see the individual colours I have used in a wash. As you can see from the videos, I do mix quite a lot of the colour on the paper itself, so I can see what's happening. You have to know when to resist the temptation to go back in and add a little more. If a wash looks good, adding more won't help. You have to learn when to walk away.
