- My first attempt at filming a watercolour painting outdoors. Quite a lot to think about. Half my brain is focused on the painting, and the other half is thinking about camera focusing, correct exposure, white balance and sound!
Still, I'm sure it'll get easier with practice.
What you see is my usual watercolour painting kit - paints, palette, brushes and easel.
Colours used were Jackson's Artist Watercolours:
Cobalt blue
Alizarin crimson
Burnt sienna
Raw sienna
Quinacridone Gold
Brushes:
Jackson's Raven (synthetic mop) numbers 2 and 6
SAA Silver Swordliner 12mm
Daler Rowney Nylon Flat 3/4"
Paper:
200lb/425gsm Bockingford NOT
Lovely
Thanks Nancy.
You acquitted yourself nicely, David. The ambience was enriched with the sounds of boats and water. I particularly like the texture of wash on not paper. Pleine aire is so hard to pull off with watercolor. Your channel could grow to be a monster in the art genre. Cheers!
Thanks James. Yes, watercolour certainly has it's challenges outdoors. Great when it works though.
Great job, David! Loved the sound of water in the background!
Thanks Ingo. Yes, a couple of people have mentioned the sound of the water. It's very calming, isn't it? I hope to make another one soon.
Love it!

I am a beginner and have never held a brush in my hands. But I study theory, see what others are doing.
Now I think I'll start trying my paints, brushes and paper.
I was advised to mark everything.
I have book for beginners there’s many tricks which I am planning to experience.
I'm thinking of starting with flowers and then moving on to drawing the sky and clouds.
I don't know if it's right. What do you recommend, where is it better to start?
Thank you.

Flowers and also clouds are both good to paint, but try to keep it simple at first. Learn the different techniques of watercolour, and just have fun practising until you gain some confidence.
