I think the lower percentage is only because Olly has just started uploading tutorials this year. I bet that within the year you will see a higher percentage of viewers and which I hope will not deter Olly as I know he is very busy with his commissions. Olly is a Top Tutor, his teaching is 100%
@@beebee4095 I think that, for most of the people looking at art tutorials, they mistake volume for quality. I often wonder how, for instance, anyone can put out 600 pages on how to play golf while at the same time claiming it is such an "easy" game to learn. The best golf books are the shortest golf books. I think that the same is probably true for watercolors.
Mr. Pyle, you are my favorite artist to enjoy while I'm trying to learn this medium. Every one of your videos teaches me so much! You come across as such a calm and kind person with a mesmerizing voice. 😁 Thanks for being an awesome human being!
I'm on Oliver's forum on his website and there's a push to not get sucked up in to endless tutorials which I am totally guilty of but this tutorial is just amazing. There is so much great information, tips, and techniques. A million thank yous to Oliver.
What a wonderful calm voice you have to listen to Oliver, Your teaching is so good! I’m glad I found you and will continue to watch your videos to help my painting. Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to produce these.
The way Ollie explains what he's doing and why he's doing what he does helps to paint a much bigger overall picture. SOOO much is imparted by this amazing man as he creates yet another masterpiece. Thank you
Thank you, Oliver, for uploading your watercolour "brushstrokes and their effects" tutorial. You demonstrate and explain watercolour painting techniques and how to use the different types of brushes very well.
I learned more about how to achieve the look I'd like to produce by watching this video than from reading a 'how to' and very much appreciate the steps illustrated from the blank paper to the finished painting. The choice and use of various brushes was also something I really needed to see illustrated, hands on. Very helpful video.
Your tutorials are a joy to watch, especially for a beginner like myself. Your techniques and the way that explain them is really first class. I absolutely love your paintings....they are truly magnificent. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge & experience with us.
I literally just stumbled across your channel and this has been the first video for me and I'm dumbfounded that I haven't found you before now! You actually explain techniques far better than pretty much every other artist I previously have watched! Hooked, thank you!! 😁
I've taken many courses, never have had brush strokes explained! Such a critical bit of knowledge for a successful painting! Olly is a professional. Hard to come by such generosity of information from a pro. Many thanks.
Hi Oliver, just want to say that not only was this tutorial very relaxing but you made an effort to keep it simple and your passion for this art form is very evident. This has inspired me to paint my own way and not get caught up in the techniques and technical language of it all. Underplaying your talent is a very British thing to do and made me smile. Thank you 😊
Excellent - watching you paint in real time (mixing paint, holding brush, strokes) really helps a lot to learn technique. Thank you. And I love that painting :)
Once again , Oliver, you have hit a home run with this tutorial! Absolutely incredible! Your technique, attention to detail, and precision are nothing short of amazing! I love the sunny glow of the boats as they reflect what’s happening in the skies, and every shadow and stone are so precise I feel I could touch them! Thank you, thank you!❤️
What sets this video apart from the many instructional videos I have seen is the incredibly detailed running commentary. Understanding the decision-making process of an accomplished watercolor artist is a valuable tool in my learning process. Thank you, Oliver.
I have finally gained a confidence to dive into my paints and create something...I wish I had discovered Oliver Pyle sooner! Love his Art Creations and Love his teaching method!
I appreciate the real time painting (rather than speed versions!) as well as being able to see your colour mixing. Your mix of raw sienna and cad red is really beautiful! Thanks.
This is a really useful video. You are a great teacher and it's great to have the explanations in the beginning followed by seeing you apply what you have taught after that. Thanks!!
If I one day, I can only hope (and practise! ) , paint like that - I would certainly call it a masterpiece! Thank you Olly, for guidance, time and effort!
Wonderful demonstration of brush strokes, I think it's particularly helpful that you then do a demonstration painting so we can see them in actual effect, it's a great combination and makes your videos so engaging and educational.
Hi Oliver, as an artist and art teacher myself I appreciate your exceptional skill and sensitivity to colour and detail. Watercolour is endlessly rewarding. Artists have the knack of seeing beauty where most people overlook it and miss out on life. I do art and music , as you may detect from the Name and always loved when teaching classes to not only paint well but to achieve the ability see. Many look but less see. The journey in any painting is so enjoyable. Your work is very enjoyable to watch, not to mention inspiring and motivational. Thank you for you therapeutic uploads. Bless you, Mervyn
So glad I found you, Oliver. My watercolors were starting to get muddy and your technique on another video was very helpful. Also, another left hander - at last. It does make a slight difference and all other artists I've watched are right handed. Thank you. Love how you do your washes. You've re inspired me.
I have learned more from watching Oliver Pyle's tutorials than anybody else. He paints the most beautiful pictures and I want to paint like him. Thank you for sharing your information and talents with us Mr Pyle❤
Thank you, you are a very inspiring teacher! I am going to give painting a go for the first time, and I will be following your instruction closely. I expect that I will improve greatly in short order by practicing the techniques that you so generously share. Thanks again!
I just found this video and think it is probably the best stuff out there for new, struggling watercolor artist. I watched it last night and had the best night's sleep in ages. Can't wait to play with my paints today and try some different strokes. :)
Your videos are wonderful. Concise, interesting and chock full of information for us who are new to watercolour. Just love the softness of your paintings too. Many thanks.
Love your paintings as well as your instructional videos, particularly the ones with the cricket balls on your shelves, which brings me to the little story of two English explorers walking in the Sahara desert and come across a cricket ball. "Exraordinary"! A few paces along they find another cricket ball. "Unheard of" they exclaim. They walk further and find a dead cricket. Cheers.
This is probably the best tutorial I've watched. I'll start a watercolour in-person class tomorrow. The teacher asked for some workpieces to understand where I'm at and he said that 2 pieces were very well done... those are the ones I did while following Oliver's channel. Ollie, you have a gift. Thanks for sharing it with the world.
I really appreciate how much you are giving in each of your tutorials. Wonderful put together, very professional. I also love seeing you taking your walks. Thank you ❤

Wow this was great to watch! Thank you so much for including real time painting AND showing your palette! I struggle watching others because I get distracted wondering what colors they used and how much, how much water, etc. This was incredibly helpful, I can't wait to try this.
Thanks to you I was able to do the best painting I've ever done with this tutorial! And I loved your video about how not to make blooms too - you are a fantastic teacher. Thank you so much
Nicely done Oliver. A very good look at brush results. Few people take the time to include so much information as to the technique toward the desired result. Also good on you for not speeding up the content. There is a place for that, you chose well. Your suggestion for the value of older brushes is precicely on the point. Your mixing in the wells is very informative. Your comment that you'll use that later is genius. Leaving too much of a color that is wanted later, just not so much right now, is masterful. You are the first left handed painter I have seen on RUclips. My Dad and older brother are both left handers and I have spent my life being both at times. I wish you calm warm breezes, Brian.
Sir, thank you very much for your kindness and patience in explaining the potential use of these techniques. Your emphasis on maintaining limited control is especially useful to those of us who fuss too much.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial, it has given some useful techniques of how to use brushes and achieve effects that for me have usually been a 'hit and miss' affair. Thank you so much, most appreciated.
