You are my go to teacher as I am learning how to paint with watercolors. Thank you for explaining everything as you go along....it is very helpful for me. This painting is glorious and I want to try this one out.
I did this exercise . Seems not so difficult, but it was. So I did it a few times, learning a little but more every time. Thank you so much !
this is the first time watching a youtube has inspired poetry in me because of the loveliness of your lesson:
Nature of Painting
in subtlety, simplicity
my heart bleeds to know
where brushstrokes touch eternity
expanse of heaven, show
let paint and paper
bristles dance
let work be seen in rest
may beauty speak through happenstance
the colors, richly blessed.
So glad I found your channel! Hope you'll be adding more videos soon.
I am just starting out and I find this video covers so much - planning, values, edges, brush strokes, colours. So much useful information in half an hour. Thank you Oliver.
Wow! I’ve been painting in watercolour for over 40 years and I learnt SO much from this video. I’ve never thought of doing my dry brush work first in certain areas...what a genius idea!
You are absolutelly right. Watercolour is all about the suggestion. You makes these suggestions so well, intersting and ellegant. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Every time I watch one of your videos…again…I learn something new! Thanks.
I'm so happy to see a left-handed artist. Gorgeous lesson for me 🙏🏻
A wonderful video with so many lessons in one and explained in an easy to understand way. This is the way that I want to paint. Thank you.
I have been dabbling for a year or so at watercolour, with not much progress, so thank you Olly, your tutorials have spurred me on, I'm a bit of a slow learner and find the pace of your tutorials are great for me. I can't wait to watch more of them 🙂
You're probably not a slow learner Jan........there's a misconception with all the watercolour courses and programs around that it is something that you can master very quickly. Not so!.....it takes years of practice and learning and along the way you suddenly have 'lightbulb moments' that take you on to the next level. Keep painting!
Dear Oliver, you are a master watercolor artist and a fantastic human being.Your explanations are unmached,I am learning a lot and I thank you for that.Hoping to see more works from you.My kindest regards.
Beautiful - you have so much patience - good lesson for me. You make it look easy. Thank you for sharing your time & knowledge 🙏
I love the prominence of the light of the original wash put to glorious use in the main tree.
I love your painting style. Its very elegant. Please, do keep posting. Thanks for your work.
Thank You so much for these lessons Oliver. I have only watched a couple so far but I have already learned more about techniques for controlling the paint than from any other tutors. I am looking forward to completing the rest.
So much information here. I am amazed at how the painting comes together and the amount of planning and thought that you do before you even start. I’ve been painting watercolour for about a year and it’s still so challenging and engrossing. Your tutorials are a great resource and I would like to thank you so much for your help. I will be following the tutorials mentioned in this lesson and hope to improve.
I am looking forward to watching all the videos. Thank you.
Wonderful tutorial! I’m new to watercolour and painting at the start of pandemic. What a journey it has been. I’m learning so much from your style and ability to describe each step so carefully. Thank you so much!
Glad to see you show how not to do brush strokes. At art class I have seen many students brushing on watercolour as if it is wallpaper paste. Watercolour is delicate, it will ruin if you keep brushing backwards and forwards. I find One stroke is best.
So very helpful instruction, and you are so pleasant to look at as well. 81-yr. Old fan
I really appreciate the way of teaching of this video series. The author not showing his process of painting, but explains the painting approach, painting strokes, and the thinking process behind it. It is a very helpful videos series rare to find on RUclips.
I mean The author not only just shows his painting process
Enjoyed your video Olly. Very sensitive brush work. Looking forwards to seeing more.
Thank you Olly this is great stuff! I know that view from Devil's Dyke down to Fulking, and I can feel the wind around me and the smells of the trees and damp grass - fantastic! Really enjoyed the content of washes, dry brushing, working in 3s and not getting bogged down with detail. Brilliant! Thank you 👍😃
I've watched three tutorials so far, just discovered you on RUclips. I appreciate your teaching as you explain so well and at a pace I can work with. Thank you so much
Oliver Thanks for your instruction
Love this instruction thanks 😊
Many Thanks for this. I focused just on the sky, especially water control. Finally found what I wanted with a big, wet mop brush and loads of color. Having a microfiber cloth for mopping off the brush kept it from getting too sloppy. You’re right, the beauty of watercolor is in part the unpredictability! I’ve been way too precise and nervous with skies, but this video just encouraged a “big” approach, so again, many thanks!
Superb tutorial - really explains clearly how to create light and depth and movement in a painting thank you - learning loads!
Gorgeous sky and light!
Thank you so much Oliver for your tutorials! I have actually painted a landscape that I'm happy with today using all the techniques I've picked up on your videos, and I have to say, it's made my efforts move forward so much so, I will keep on improving in the way I want to go with watercolour...thank you again! Your tuition is the best...😊
Well done Susan - keep up the good work!
Thank you, Oliver. You are a great teacher. 👍
Very subtle and beautiful.
I am lucky to have found your tutorial.
I’ve just found you and so glad! Thank you for your lessons. I’m excited to try this out and in particular, the dry brush tip! Also very informative to see how often you dip into water, dab, into paint, touch hand held tissue etc. Often that part is off camera but is so useful to watch when a beginner learning. Thank you!
Thanks so much, Oliver! Fantastic, as always.
Brilliant! Thank you and looking forward to more videos!
Bravo! I've learned so much from you and this video! I look forward to delving into the 10 in depth videos!
Gorgeous! Peaceful! Dreamy!
You said it Oliver: a simple painting reflecting a lot of skill and technique… I think I’ve watched this at least 3 times (so far…). 😂
Thank you for your video lesson. You conveyed so well the sense of wind in your landscape painting...and your precious techniques to use in wet into wet.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing more videos from you Oliver. THANK YOU!
I love the way you explain how and why you do what you do. It hopefully is going to make it easier for me to incorporate your teaching into my attempts. Thank you so much.
Very good video! Can’t wait to see what’s next!!
Thanks Tim - nice thing to say and thx for watching. Early days, and the focus at the moment is getting subscribers to the blog
Amażingly helpful, real tutprials. Can’t say thank you enough.
Just come across your channel. It contains some of the best tutorials that I have come across over the last few years. They are exceptional teaching videos. Thank you.
Thank you for doing these. I have been watching several now this weekend. Glad I had yt suggest your videos. Thanks for the reply from the other painting.
Bellissima esecuzione, grazie mille.
Thank you Olly! That was an excellent video, very interesting to see your process. I liked your tip about doing the dry brushing first, never tried that before but I will now. Hope to see many more videos from you in the future.
You are a great teacher. Thank you so much.
Thank you Oliver. After years of painting in oils I am trying to get to grips with watercolour and its totally different way of working.
So helpful and lovely. I wish I could take classes from you. Please post more videos!
These are really excellent videos, Oliver. Thanks for making them. :)
Thank you for sharing this video. I like very much your paintings.
I was skeptical about this painting until about the last 1/3 of the video when it came together. I thought the sky was ridiculous early on. Now I'm very impressed with the final effect. It turned into a beautiful work! I'm going to try rendering this as a local scene: the shrubs on the left will become cacti, the ground will be a bit more stony, and voila! it's Texas... hopefully. Thank you, I'm a huge fan of your work and videos. You have a real gift for teaching as well as painting.
Haha! I often have the same thoughts as I progress with paintings Donna......I must confess that there are plenty that have remained ridiculous on completion!
I just discovered your channel and following. You are a fabulous art instructor. Looking forward to watch next tutorials. Thank you, marie
...amazing! Thank you very much🙏🏼💚
Thank you so much
Thank you. Great videos and beautiful paintings, so glad I found your channel. 🤗
Super!
Thank you lovely. Very helpful
Agreat tutorial. Will give it a try. Thanks so much.
Thanks
Thanks Oliver, enjoyed this! Jane
I have just bought a watercolour set - I haven`t touched a paint brush in 60 odd years so I`m starting a new adventure I used to be good at watercolours getting a GCE" O Level in it when I was 13years old I am feeling a bit lost at the moment but I hope with looking at your videos I`ll get more confident as time goes bye
A new favorite!
very very beautiful .. congratulation!!!
Your channel is very informative and relaxing.
I really like your in depth videos like finding personal style 🌷
So glad I found this channel
Love this, but I find my eye going to that little bunch of trees to the left. I feel a bit of shadow would have been an asset to the painting at that little bunch of trees; love your tutorials, however. I’m only three years in and still learning. I wish I could figure out “My style” of painting. You are a remarkable painter. I live in North Dakota, USA. Flat plains here. Wish we had more rolling hills. The book you suggested, Wildwood: A Journey Through Trees, is not unavailable to any website I’ve looked…😕. Still searching. You are one of my favorites. Thank you for all you offer us students.
You are the best,I have learnt a lot from your video’s,thankyou 👩🏻🎨
It’s gorgeous!
Brilliant. Thank you,
As a beginner I find your videos so helpful. Thank you.👌
Thanks Di - good to know
It is nice to see how you paint that tree. Painting with dry brush strokes can easily look to dry, but you use exactly the right amount of water. Very solid brushwork and well explained.
Much appreciated Arthur - thank you
Thank you so much for all of your wonderfully useful tips! I’m amazed at the quality of your tutorials💕!
I wonder if you have the other lessons you are talking about or if you are producing them?
Oliver, you make the process so relaxing! Viewing you from Palm Beach Florida! We don’t get these idyllic country scenes here, and I could feel the breeze as you painted that beautiful little shrub! Thank you for sharing your talent with the world!
Very kind, thanks Judith
So helpful as usual. Thank you!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You're welcome Denise
Oliver trabajas muy bien felicidades
Just starting out in watercolour, thanks for your great videos and explanations i find it easy to follow your way of teaching. Thanks
Excellent Steve - more beginner videos to come!
Great news
Thank you for what you do, sir. I am thoroughly enjoying your channel and your manner of teaching. Well done. I'm in the Pyle Matrix now.
Excellent Dave. The Pyle Matrix - I like that.......welcome!
Spectacular
Thank you for the video! :)
Fantastic!
I love these videos, you make it seem so easy. I copied you stage by stage but I can't get anything to look like yours. It could be the quality of my paint, or the paper or just I'm completely un talented. Could we see a little more of your pallette and how you are mixing the paints. Love your style of painting just wish I could do it half as good.
Wet water! Makes perfect sense to me. 😊
Thank you very much ! Such a lovely landscape.....Watercolour is PURE MAGIC. Hope I can figure out how to subscribe and find your blog. I’m not too savvy in navigating on my IPad. I learned quite a bit just watching this video and it’s quite exciting! Thanks again👏😊
@@oliverpyle-ourlandscape4442 ok, thank you! I found it....yay! Now I will subscribe on each one. Do you sell your work to customers in the US.? I'm in Ohio temporarily planning a move back to Big Sur, California where I was BLESSED to live for 8 years. While there, I took thousands of beautiful landscape photographs in a Paradise on Earth of which I will paint in watercolour. Thank you again for showing us some of your techniques!!😀🎨🎨🎨🌹starting today!
Thank you .
Thank you 😊
Wow beautiful
Hola Oliver.
Son excelentes tus vídeos!!
Mil gracias!!!
Será posible ponerle subtítulos en ingles a los videos?
Entiendo bastante ingles pero con subtítulos seria comprensión perfecta. Gracias nuevamente!!!
I’ve been watching your videos over the last few months and learned a ton. Great - amazing teaching style that many can learn from
Do you ever do zoom workshops ? I’m in the US but would love to jump in a workshop if you ever do or an in person workshop would be fantastic if you ever come to the US…
Thx. Never done Zoom - I prefer in-person interaction for workshops, and hopefully one day can do some in the US. Would be fun.
Quite enjoyed your landscape introduction tutorial. Blog to follow your next ten videos is? Thanks 🎨
Your videos are packed with information and inspiration, thank you! I want to invest in a couple of high quality brushes so wondered what size your 2 dark sable brushes are in this demo?
@@oliverpyle-ourlandscape4442 Many thanks. And I like your tip in one of your videos on using sable for wet work and man made for more detailed dry work, I'm going to give that a try!
Hello! I wonder if you have more tutorials that I can learn from? I love your style! Warmly, Anne
Its lovely Oliver. I noticed you haven't taped this paper. Is this on a block pad?
What an awesome tutorial on landscapes...Thank you so very much...please try to improve Audio quality which makes your info packed video Super video...
Thank you. There are some more recent improvement to the audio - just need to upgrade the wireless mic next year
great video thank you Oliver.
would love to know how get one of those skies with pink in ,with out it merging and changing colour .thank you
when painting wet-on-wet, the colour will tend to stay largely where you put them providing all the other colours being used are of a similar consistency. The colour will be lost if you blend all the colours together
Your videos are so informative and helpful, tons of information in just some minutes!!! One little hint from me, please correct the spelling of your blog address, one "r" is missing.
Hi Oliver, really appreciate your tutorials but how do I access your Lessons 1-10 as mentioned in your video? Thanks again.
