Dear Paul, my husband calls you Paulie.…(like a close friend). He’s of Italian heritage. Need l say more? Anyway we LOVE everything you paint. And you have become very large part of our watercolor journey together. Thank you … we could not have done this without you. You are a treasure! ❤
Thanks so much, that's very kind .... say hi to your hubby for me!!
I love that you and your husband are painting together ❤
@@ArtbyPaulClark If I may, I want to "second" that comment by TwinkleBelle27 (except for the "Paulie" part 😉). Hubby and I also eagerly look forward to your weekly painting sessions as we are on a watercolor journey together too in our "old" age... We so admire your great talent! ❤
Wednesday morning with Paul Clark always means hitting the like button before I've even seen the video!! Thank you for such amazing videos that always keep me inspired!
Ahh, that's kind - thanks!
A postcard from Holland will take too long... but I think the light is coming from behind the viewer, right-hand side. The cast shadow up ahead is from the trees standing close, the shadow in front must be from trees standing further back, few meters ( yes... I'm Dutch 😂) behind the viewer. If you look ahead on the road, those shadows are also cast away from the viewer.
Thanks ... and yes you could be right!!!
I think that sometimes you choose the original location of the subject based on the drink you want to enjoy ;)
ssshhh, don't tell anyone!
Paul, I look forward to your paintings every week! Thank you for sharing them with us! Can’t wait to do this loch!
Glad you like them!
lol “painting from jail” copyright is no joke. I literally was called out by a photographer for using her photo to paint from. All ended well when I gave her credit for the photo. She ended up liking my channel and subscribing.
This painting looks beautiful. Makes me want to visit there. I may try painting this one. I’ve been busy with commissions. One that was 4 feet by 2 feet. The biggest I’ve done! Just delivered it yesterday. She cried and was so happy with it. Thank God! Always a blessing when they love the painting. ❤ I’m grateful for you and your channel. You made me fall in love with watercolor. 😊 I pray for you to continue to heal and for God to prosper you and Margot. Much love from Alabama.
Thanks so much Jacquline - yes, I always try to be as careful as possible with copyright issues ...Great to hear your commission was loved!!!
Love this, there are so many pretty Lochs here in Scotland, this is inspiration on how to adapt so many of my photos. Thank you Paul.
Pleasure Diane!
Hello dear Paul, good morning ☕🍮! Glad to meet you as always on Wednesday and as always in the watercolor studio. Thank you for another interesting video lesson and wish you further success in watercolor painting. I’m ashamed to admit that I’m in the city right now business and can’t write much, sorry dear. I have no doubt that your video tutorial, as always, will be useful for both beginning artists and professional ones. I like it 👍Bye...bye...🖼️🎨🖼️🎨🖼️🎨♥️ ♥️♥️💋💋💋🧑🎨👋😊👋😊
First again! - thanks Adela ... enjoy your time in the city!
hi paul. brian from across the pond. thank you for another watercolor wednesday. i like to use an old toothbrush for my splatter (spatter). do you ever scrape your waterlines with a razor? see you next week! brian.
You are very welcome - not a razor but I do use a scale sometimes.
Hi Paul, Wednesdays are special as we get your tutorial videos on Wednesday. You convert ordinary photos into beautiful paintings. Thank you for watercolor Wednesday tutorials.
Glad you like them! - many thanks

That's good to hear ... not keen on prison food!
A really think you are my favorite artist on watercolor, pastel and a perfect teacher on good time and humor Thank you, see you next week, wish you a sunny spring, we all need one in our lives.
Thank you so much 😀 that's so nice of you!
I swear, I've learned more about painting than all the time in art school. I'm in love.
Wow, so nice of you to say Barb!
Happy Watercolor Wednesday ! I’m glad you mentioned your colors being different , my greens , burnt umber and yellow ochre always look different, much less vibrant than yours, I just figured it was the lighting !
Thank you always for yet another beautiful tutorial , I love this collection of around the world paintings ! ❤
Thanks Gretchen, and yes, I'm sure you are right, the lighting can also play a part.
Always my favorite part of Wednesday! I live in NW PA, in the US; and this looks exactly like Kinzua Reservoir, just up the road a bit from me. I can't wait to try this. I have tried painting the reservoir many times over the years, but have never been happy with my results. I learned a few new things today, I cant wait to try out Thank you!
Sounds great! - have fun!
Wonderful Paul! Love it! Terrific tutorial, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
This is fabulous. I live in Scotland. Not painted in a year. I think I’ll start with this one. Thank you
Great to hear = thanks!

Good morning Paul Michael Campbell here from New Mexico USA always look forward to Wednesday as my to name gives a clue I have a soft spot for Scotland 😊😊
Hi Michael - yup, sure sounds a Scottish name!
Спасибо,Пол!Прекрасно,когда МАСТЕР делится опытом с нами,любителями акварели. Большое спасибо,Пол!
Дякую, радий, що вам сподобалось
That pastel pencil works great to high light those trees, thanks for the inspiration. Sláinte!
Cheers - yes, I do like a good pastel pencil!
Try as I might with spattering I STILL can’t do it without pebble dashing the entire worktop, walls, and myself 😢😂
... you're not alone - you should see my studio wall!
@@ArtbyPaulClark 😅🤣😅
I always love your trees and reflections! Beautiful painting as always, thank you for sharing with us.
Pleasure as always!
Nice way to wake up on Wednesday morning to your weekly tutorial (6 am here in northern BC Canada). Lovely picture
Morning! - glad you enjoyed it!
This picture could almost be one from the Peace River Valley 😊
Fantastic Paul thank you
Very welcome
Loved it thanks Paul. X
Glad you enjoyed it
Bravo Paul,
simply beautiful, and with what dexterity you direct the "splashes" just in the right place, you amaze me. I really liked the background music. Thank you for your fine work I never tire of it.
Thank you so much 😀
Always a pleasure watching you paint. Have a lovely day & thank you for sharing.🖌🖌
Thank you! You too!
Love the foreground trees! Took me a long while to work out what greenup was, as in ' I just made some greenup '. Haha! ❤ XXX
Haha ... love that!
Thank you for another wonderful watercolor Wednesday. The mixing of greens is magical and that too without these turning muddy. Colours are so bright and fresh.
Thank you! Cheers!
Shows how much better a painting is than a photo! Love your ‘shadow’ tip every time you remind us of it? You should patent your smudging/softening tip you know!?
Lol!!! - thanks for that ... I'm talking to my solicitor now!!!
Lovely loch painting. Thank you Paul for this one too🌹
My pleasure 😊
You've captured the Scottish colours really well.
Lovely artwork.
Could you do some more pen & wash videos Just love them.
Thank you, I will …. Coming very soon 😁
Ahhh, watching this again today, before I actually paint. My Hansel loved his little glass of Scotch every evening when he came in from " DE GETTING DE BEDT GUYS OFF DE STREET". One glass, filled to about where you filled yours. Made me smile, Paul.
Great memory J!
Gorgeous! As you began painting the loch, knowing your sense of humor by now, I kept thinking....is he tempted? will he or won't he? I bet he can't resist....but will he turn this lovely painting into a cartoon....I should have known with modern technology you would find a way to include the loch monster and then have her disappear LOL
Lol! ... that's great, glad you enjoyed it!
The week has only 2days:
- Wednesday--> Paul Clark
- Sunday-> Liz Chaderton
🙂
Paul ( !!! ) Czesanne teached us:
Shadows have allways 3 components:
- the darker value
- some blue
- some complementary
So I allways use some blue in shadows ( No, I´m no really good artist, what a shame 😞).
Greatings from the continent. 🙂
Lol! - great comment - I like Liz's videos too!
Wow Paul 👍🏻 very beautiful 😊 Great Tutorial ☀️ greetings ✨Tanja✨
Thanks so much
Love to watch your teaching
Glad to hear that
You're amazing. Every week you have something new to teach us in your tutorials. Thank you. 😁Travelling without having to leave my painting room with your "Round the World" series. Love it.❤ PS Is there a trick to sharpening pastel pencils. Mine always seem to break, no matter what brand I use.
You are so welcome! - I tend to use a sharp scalpel as I have the same problem - you can buy special sharpeners for pastel pencils but I've had limited luck with them.
Dear Paul, I’m in love with all of your artworks. I’m also in love with Scotland even though I’ve never been there, but I feel myself delle deeply connected with those places and I don’t know why. I love to paint Scottish landscape as well and I’m learning a lot watching your tutorial. Thank you so much. Cheers from Italy
Thank you so much 😀
No word to express my gratitude to you and honestly I love your way of guiding through every painting is a great experience and learning and so inspiring
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely STUNNING Paul. It's beautiful and looks so serene. The beauty of United Kingdom is on our bucket list to explore.
Loved the different techniques you showed us. Yellow Ocha definitely looks different.
Loved every bit of your tutorial.
Thank-you , so much.
Can't wait for next week.
Nature is most beautiful 💖💖💖
Have a wonderful week Paul.
Take Care
.. and you, thanks Sonia
Beautiful! It looks like just like the old River Road going around Watauga Lake in Tennessee (USA). Thank you for a lovely lesson.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Paul, Thanks for that gorgeous watercolour. It's absolutely stunning. Keep them coming. I love all your Watercolour Wednesdays, but this one really caught my eye. I get a beautiful, peaceful feeling from this picture for some reason. I can see myself having a blissful walk with my dog up that path. Heaven. Thanks Paul. Can't wait to try it out. God bless you, your family and your work. Susan ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏😀🇮🇪☘👍🐶🐾🐾
Thank you so much Susan 😀
I can’t wait to paint this! I ordered some new paint from Jackson’s with Margot’s link so I’ll be sure to have fun with this one. Thanks to you both!

Thank you, Paul. This painting is so lovely and really liked that bit of soft pastel.
My great great grandparents came from Scotland to Nova Scotia. Then some went to Wisconsin. All farmers.
Anyway, thank you for another wonderful video.
You are very welcome - thanks
When you put the salt on the road I was wondering how that would work and you made it work perfectly! Thank you so much for the lesson and happy first day of Spring! Hopefully the sun will shine more! I will give this a try once I finish Miss Eliza 🌷🪻☀️

Thank you so much 😀 so happy to help ... we all need art in our lives!
Beautiful (of course) and peaceful and subtle. With the September trip in my face I'm trying to work most every day. I always do too much--paint, colors, brushes, shapes. Yesterday, I did the Values video- the croft, vase and church. Made myself sketch very quickly. Used ONE color. Thought I was going to have to lie down many times, but I did it. I HAD NO IDEA!!!!! When I looked at them this morning they were good! I loved using one color!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, dear man!!!
Hi J, yes using one colour is a great discipline, we did it today in my local class. ... keep up the good work!
I''ve often wondered what you do with all those neat shirts for each video? I know this sounds tacky but do you sell them? If not you most have one heck of a large closet.
I have a big wardrobe! ... I do wear most of them during the summer months!
Thanks for this Paul. It has been said that Nova Scotia is more Scottish than Scotland because Scotland has moved on . . . Nova Scotia not so much. And I love it!
Thanks for the info Cathy, lol!!!
Paul , thank you for the lessons ,they have made me much more confident when working in watercolor. I love your style (painting , humor ) . I look forward to what’s next ! Thank you 🙏
Great to hear - many thanks!
I enjoy your videos so much and learn something new every week! Thank you
So nice of you
Lovely! Can’t wait to try it! Thank you for the tutorial video and inspiration
Thanks so much 😊
I love shadows cast from out of the frame of reference. It could be a tree branch hanging over the road or a cloud passing over. Love your work every week. You make my day brighter.
That's kind - thanks!
Thank you very much Paul!! That was once more a great moment to follow your lesson!
Thank you so much
My pleasure Anne, catch up soon!
Hello Paul, How do you determine what colors to use in this painting?
Difficult one to answer as a lot of it comes from experience. I have 10-12 colours which I use mainly through habit - I've got to know them so well I rarely use any others.
Merci pour ce tutoriel magnifique et fascinant. Je ferai de mon mieux pour m'en approcher. 🙂
Merci aussi!
Leaving a comment after a couple of months. Missed those Wednesdays for a short span. It is pleasant to have you back with those mesmerizing paintings of the scotish landscape. Well, your uniqueness lie in your ability to exude the mellow beauty of the nature through your paintings. It is so esthatic - how you engrave those elements.
Have a great day.......💚
... and to you and welcome back!!!
Hermosos tus trabajos pictóricos 🇲🇽🇲🇽....
¡Es muy amable, gracias!
Lovely painting! Very inspiring for my Scotland trip in April!
Wonderful! - enjoy the trip!
You deserve much more subscribers
Thanks for that!
Paul, with every tutorial that you teach me, I become more free to pursue subject matter of my own that I want to paint. This is your greatest gift to me. Teaching me enough skills to grow my own wings and fly. Thank you very very much for all that you do to set us free.
Great to hear as that's exactly the reason I like doing these tutorials!
Again Paul outstanding job. I just love the way you create depth with your greens. Love watching and learning through your videos.
So nice of you
Good morning Paul! Another awesome tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing with us the magic of watercolor painting. Big hug
Good morning to you and big hug returned!
Looking so much better than the postcard! Beautiful as usual. Love the details with the pastels and the shadow to make the flowers really pop! Thanks for all the wonderful tips, Paul. 😍
My pleasure Shelia!
I am truly enjoying the process and results of your art, Sir Clark!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Lovely! Love to watch you paint and the narration is always fun!
Thank you so much!
Another beautiful painting! Thank you, Wednesdays are always brighter when I see your video.
Great to hear - thanks Manon!
I love the look of the purple pigment in this! Also, I enjoy seeing the map marking where the scene is located. Thanks!
Awesome, thank you!
Thought the photo was kind of blah, but you made the scene come alive! Great lesson in painting shadows!
Thank you so much 😀
Merci ! That's exactly the kind of paint I could hang in my house! Well, I think I'll need 999 attempts (I'll get round to it ha ha). Thank you, thank you, thank you talented Mr Clark
Tip is French for "pourboire", literally "for a drink". So the next drink is on me ha ha ha!
Love that and many thanks .... a BIG merci!!!
loved the pastel!!!
Good to hear - thanks!
Thank you, Paul. You are a wizard
Thanks so much!
Thank you Paul for another one of your superb paintings. I love the combination of colors that makes this lovely scene so authentic. Everything is painted so realistic looking from the trees, the rocks and the shadows.
Glad you enjoyed it
Watercolor Wednesday! My favorite day of the week!
Your painting is amazing! It’s fascinating to me how you can look at a postcard and paint a great picture! Simply magical
Thank you so much!
Lovely painting and lovely music.

By gum Paul brilliant, to watch a blank piece of paper come to life and turn into such a beautiful painting is pure magic i will surely watch this again i just love the way your brush flits across the painting bringing everything together bit by bit and the shadows so real, thanks again, looking forward to next Wednesday
