Here it comes, television's most exciting hour of fantastic prizes the fabulous sixty-minute Price is Right!
We are showcasing episodes not viewed in decades. Starting from Season 11 (1982), this is the first season when animal furs were no longer offered as prizes, supporting Bob’s advocacy of animal rights in memory of his wife Dorothy Jo.
To celebrate what would have been Bob Barker's 100th birthday, the channel is also featuring episodes from the debut season of The "New" Price Is Right in 1972.

I could watch clips like this all day. From a time when the world still made sense and not everything hurt so much.
News flash, the world has always been terrible, it's just that it's not been "this" brand of terrible.
Things seem to "make sense" back then because they made sense to you. Much like how the world made more sense when I was younger, and the world will make more sense today for those 40 years from now.
@@Leoncroi I know a lot of people say that. But there are huge differences in American life present day and American life 40 years ago. One was pre-internet, one post-internet. One was pre-cell phone, one post-cell phone. One was pre multiple school shootings every year, one is our present sad situation. One was pre- mass illegal immigration, one is what we're dealing with now. Forty years ago shoplifting was a crime that was actually prosecuted, and very few people (if any) thought it was a good idea to express their anger by vandalizing and destroying statues of America's founding fathers. Oh, and back then we knew the difference between men and women .So I stand by my original post .
@@DavidHofstede-c1r There's a LOT to unpack with your rant, my guy. Have you tried therapy? I can't recommend it enough and wish I saw a therapist earlier in life.
Best to you.
@@Leoncroi My mistake, I thought you were interested in a civil discussion. But then the internet does make it easier to insult strangers, or make assumptions about what they want or need without knowing them, doesn't it? Just one more difference between now and then.
@@DavidHofstede-c1r Don't spout your ideology as truth in a demeaning and condemning manner and call it "civil discussion." There is nothing in your prior post that shows anything "civil" and I hope you work through your angry period.
Bob teasing her at the starting line was hilarious “1, 2, 3 I DIDN’T say go 1, 2, 3, I DID say go!”😂
You can take off anything you want - Dirty Bob
She was cute as a button.
she was wasn't she
For the "record", this was not the quickest win in this game. A mother to be did it in 9 seconds
Exactly what I was going to say. Christmas week of....1984 I believe.
“Ahh man I finally get to be on the price is right, I wonder what amazing thing I’ll get the chance to win”
“A new ceiling fan”
“.......”
And don't forget the gift tax you'll have to pay on that ceiling fan. 😂😂😂
@@RoughRaiders13Or an bed
A GRANDFATHER CLOCK 😂😂
I live in the desert. Ceiling fans are cool. I can lay on the floor and watch one for hours....🤪😜👍
Not only barefoot, not only on the first try but beat the record. She knew what she was doing. I bet she told her family "if I get picked and play a pricing game and it's the race game or any running pricing game I'm doing it barefoot" history was made that day
Technically, not the record but close.
700 bucks for that ceiling fan!!??
And that's in 1985 dollars, adjusted for inflation it is about $2,036 in 2024
@@jimmyzhao2673 Ceiling fans are still somewhat expensive but it all depends on where you live or where you shop!! Although the majority of ceiling fans are not as expensive as back around 1980-1 2 -3 & so on but again depends on where you live & shop!!
However if I,m gonna spend $2,000 on a ceiling fan-a TV radio 📻 📱 phone microwave oven dvd 📀 player & a mini fridge better be included!!
What a sweetheart wonderful spirit, she's also cute. I'm glad she won all the prizes 😊
That celling fan will go now for 60 dollars
Or less
At an estate sale, it would go for about $30. 😂
LOL I've thrown out so many of those. Good to know that the blades were sagging from day one.
$699! Man, ceiling fans were expensive back then.
Still are.
Cuteness overload.
And now she’s retired.
“Take off whatever you want”
Bob would've been cancelled real quick if he said that today
She didn't have to take off her shoes. Bob's microphone cord was crossing her path. I was concerned she might trip on it.
1:25-1:28 that woman in the audience 😂
😂
Leslie’s outfit is so cute and stylish! 💖
Everyone is a bit better dressed back then than present day studio audiences.
@@oneastrails I guess that’s due to some pricing games that require more running. Switcheroo and Race Game required more action. Then you games such as Bonkers and Time is Money.
That Bob called for the clock be reset because the contestant did not realize he said: "Go!" at the beginning.
Because Bob knew, the contestants were the reason that home viewers identified with "putting themselves in the contestants place" and if you wanted to be successful in this game, you had to have the viewers and contestants feel as if they were always given a fair chance to win.
(unlike carnivals, gambling and marriage...)
Such a joy watching.
That must’ve been after Johnny Olson passed away.
Great down, blouse!
fantastic down blouse
Man, when Johhny Olsen isn't there, it sure does make me miss him! He was taken too soon, I don't care how old he was.
It shows you how much of a different beast Price is. Gene Wood was one of the best announcers ever, but he struggled mightily announcing TPiR. His excitement level was wildly inconsistent. Ceiling fan light isn't a car
From pricing game #2 of the 11/26/85 episode of The Price is Right. Leslie was a fantastic contestant!
"Hey Gene, whose next" I take it that the TPIR Classic has moved beyond the Johnny Olson Episodes?
Take off anything you want?😂
Yeah good ole dirty bob
I'm shocked that ceiling Fan was $600 back in the 80s OMG!
Starting to get the episodes without Johnny Olson now... I like Gene Wood, but he didn't fit Price is Right well. Rod Roddy was the right pick for replacing Johnny.
Yes, I agree. The producers made a great choice with Rod as his successor. He fit in well with the show. It's a shame he died young as well.
Watching the Roddy episodes right now. He had a rough start but he did earn the job.
Gene Wood was mainly an interim announcer while they were looking for a replacement.
@@crazycappy01 Yeah, I know he was one of the four that announced after Olson's death (along with Roddy, Bob Hilton and Rich Jeffries.) I saw in an interview with Roger Dobkowitz that he said the producers and Barker found Wood to have "too harsh" of a voice for TPIR and that's why they didn't want him to get the job permanently. I do remember Wood did some fee plugs for TPIR in the late 90s.
yeah Gene Wood knew he was just a stand-in while they were auditioning to find the real replacement.
Most contestants do take off their shoes in the later years with Drew Carey when playing race game.
WHoa more than the prices revealed at the end. Quite the valley.
Too bad there weren't more prices to reveal. 👀
Barker's beauties. 😍
He initially said that it mY be a record. Then he declared that it was a record. It’s easy to make a mistake - no big deal!
A pregnant woman had and still had the record after this playing.
She took off her shoes to avoid getting fall or hurt on the floor. Only 12 seconds on the 1st try.
There’s something about Mary.
Cute shoes!!
It's so weird to hear "Starcrossed" and Gene Wood's voice together...
Question: Has Gene Wood ever appeared on camera introducing the next audience member down to Contestant's Row (besides him as Santa Claus in the "Christmas Wishes" Home Viewer Showcase) like Johnny Olson, Rod Roddy and Rich Fields did?
I can't recall it happening and they've moved on to Roddy for now.
@@silentbob3208 The same can go for Bob Hilton and Rich Jeffries, right?
He did on Super Password, but maybe not on Price Is Right, as brief as his stint there was.
As did all the other announcers after 2002, Season 31. However, Rich Fields got camera time to call a contestant to Come on Down only once on 9/27/06.
Gene Wood was not fit for TPIR but was his stepping stone for his future announcing work. Especially Classic Concentration. He ranks with Johnny Olsen one of the best game show announcers ever!
Woohoo
Classic example of Bob declaring a historic moment, when it really isn't... on 12/20/84 a _mother-to-be_ won the game in 9 seconds.
That's what I like. For the longest time, the record was held by a pregnant woman
Later on, Bob would have asked Roger "Is that the best time we've ever had? No? It's tied for third? Well, shows what I know!"
RIP to a legend
@@BlueCrystalTearYou nailed it 😂.... I loved the random cameos by Roger correcting Bob
..but was she _barefoot_ and pregnant? 🤔
@@oubrioko-- LOL 😂😂❤

Today there would be sanitary regulations against removing shoes I believe..
They do it quite a bit on the Drew Carey episodes when Race Game is played.

This is why all women must take off their high heels playing the race game because Victoria Adams-Beckham cannot run in high heels.
There should be a new bonus rule for the RACE GAME!! IF YOU CORRECT PLACE THE 4 PRICES ON THE RIGHT PRIZES & GET THEM ALL RIGHT ON THE VERY FIRST TIME!!-- YOU WIN A BONUS OF $50,000 ON THE DAYTIME!! ON PRIMETIME $100,000 & A NEW CAR 🚗!!
I feel so ashamed... my eyes were looking at something else. (not Bob, not the contestant, not the prizes) :)
Is that when Bob said to her, “Show us those prizes” in an obvious double entendre?
@@brianarbenz1329 guilty as charged. 😍
This game actually lets the player have a slight advantage. they give the contestants the price tags as the host explains the rules of the game,. when they should give the player the price tags he reads the rules since that gives the player time to put the tags in order in their hands before the clock starts. i am not sure if others caught that but i always did.
She knew what Bob was going to say, Bob said it and she just froze at the starting line. haha I have a feeling this woman was a loyal fan and true!
I had those same shoes lol
She did that quick, fast, and inna hurry. ❤

Essa, Osa, and Mary - _Mary?_ What kind of a name is that?
"you can take off anything you want"

this announcer had to be a fill in between johnny olsen and rod roddy im guessing
You talking about the late Gene wood who fills in for Johnny O
Lol, what's with the spazz at 1:27 in the second row? A little enthusiastic. . . .
Yeah, what a weirdo. 😂
She should have gone when he INITIALLY said 'go'. Bob graciously had the timer reset for her.
Tina - I'll bid $400 Bob
Bob - $720?
Tina - No Bob, $400
Bob - $638?

@@silentbob3208 I found it HILARIOUS 😆
How they got the Feud and the Super PASSWORD announcer on Price?
Probably looking for job security at the time since Family Feud had just ended its long run with Dawson a few months prior.
This was between the time that Johnny Olson passed away and Rod Roddy becoming the permanent announcer. The Dawson era of Family Feud ended in 1985, and Gene Wood was the show's announcer when Ray Combs hosted between 1988 and 1994.
@@silentbob3208 Especially since Johnny just died and they were giving various announcers a tryout before settling on Rod Roddy.
Gene Wood 🪵 was ill suited to ... The Price Is Right ✅️
Gene worked on a lot of game shows for Goodson-Todman Productions, and they were in a situation where they weren’t sure if Johnny was going to recover from his brain bleed (cerebral hemorrhage), some people do recover (I know many people who have recovered) and some pass on (unfortunately Johnny passed on at age 75), so they needed someone to fill in in the meantime. Rod was also working on Press Your Luck at the time of the auditions, so he was known to many game show fans.
