Ok. Gin, that last item in the wrap up, is almost certainly a "brass". Here's the story:
Employees would report to work (on their shift) and would walk up to a (gated) guardhouse to enter the premises for work. Office personnel were there, and one-at time,, each employee would tell the " clerk" their name and brass number. The "clerk" would check off that name and give employee his "brass" (with his/her assigned number on it. Employee puts it in his/her pocket (or wherever, and enters premises for work that day.
Occasionally, an office "clerk" would randomly "spot-check" unannounced "crews"/job locations calling out the employees names one-at-a-time, and the employee had to answer " here!" or "present!" and physically show the "clerk" his "brass". The clerk would check off his/her name on the list, and so on. If someone is missing SOMEBODY in the group had BETTER know where he/she IS, and WHY he/she is in another location. The clerk MUST go verify (and physically FIND that person)... -same routine: name, brass number (with a note on the checklist as to where the employee was found, and why that person was in that location, and NOT in the assigned location. Finished "crew checklists" were then turned in to the office, for HR, company officers, foremen etc. to peruse.
This kept employees from wandering off, jumping the fence to cross a road/street to "get a beer", or "extended lunch, etc.
It was ALSO, very VITAL in catastrophic events, so that personnel managers, police, firemen and rescue teams (etc.) could verify QUICKLY their probable location(s) onsite, if a catastrophic event happened (fire, explosion, poisonous gas, etc.). ...
I HAD a brass-checker's job during the construction of a nuclear power plant. I was to tell NO ONE which crews I was going to spot check on any given day... no matter what their rank, position, or authority (including government types). That was all "Top Secret", with only ONE person knowing who, when and where --- me. Keeps everyone honest, in-place, accountable, sober, and SAFE.
Lengthy description, simple job (with a hard hat).
Funny, I'd see people hurrying back to their area, knowing I'm approaching, and (sometimes) get a little upset when I walked THROUGH their area, to go check a nearby crew on the other side, looking over my shoulder & seeing them all with "brass-in-hand", " at the ready".
If an employee wasn't present during a check, whereabouts unknown, & couldn't be verified, that employee got a one-on-one with the BIG boss, and would likely be fired. Everyone knew it.
Enjoyed the vid. GREAT to see you back again, and doing well. Fall FORWARD, Gin.
    All the best,from Florida. ---Doug

Doug, you never cease to amaze me with the wealth of knowledge you share. I’ll bet having those badges in brass also helped ensure they survived in a catastrophe, much like military dog tags. Would it be absolute sacrilege if I fill the letters back in with black and polish it up with renaissance wax? I so want to refurbish that find - I love the cool font on it.😍

There should be several seasoned Deus users there for me to soak up knowledge from. It did well on the first couple of hunts so far here in TN. I did already order some Grey Ghost headphones though, because the ones it comes with are absolutely murder on the ears.

I was just wondering if you ever found many mason jar lids around those old home sites. Then bingo you pull out an oldie! Just a word of caution when detecting around those mast trees, like oak, beech, hickory, walnut, etc. I have caught copperheads as early as the first week in February in SW Va. They tend to congregate under those trees because mice and chipmunks scavenge for any remaining nuts and they will lay in ambush for them. They disappear in leaf litter like that. So be careful! Another great video!

The mystery cap item looks like an old radiator cap off an old car, or possibly a tractor. Great day of digging and cool finds! Glad to see you back in action and putting out videos again! Good luck with your new detector! Great video!

@@LuckyGin heck yeah! That’s the spirit to have! 😎 It may take you a few hunts, but you’ll get the new machine down and find some cool finds! I switched from Garrett to Minelab back in August, and it took me a few hunts to figure it out. You’ll get it! Best of luck to you!

Great finds!! I know that someone has already made this comment, but the cap looks like a radiator cap.....however, I've never seen one w/ a center section that large. Congrats on ur business affiliation! I fully support shopping locally &/or small!!

Thanks so much my friend. Someone suggested that it might be from a really old model of car; maybe they made them without the center back then. Not sure.

Awesome to see you have switched over to the D2 you'll love it once you learn that machine I have bought 2 of them an have been swingin the D2 since February 10 of last year.
To help you out a little your buckle will mostly be made of brass or iron because copper is strong enough to hold up an would where out in no time.
Maybe before you hit the beach you could hit me up on the settings that you will help you out.
