I listen to the PD’s and they put in a few hours on the defendants behalf but this guy had to have put in, I would assume, 20-30, or more, hours on this guys case. Even if he charged only $300 and hour, that is $9000. How can this, dreamer, afford it when only working a low paying job? His mother has a low paying job. Hum…

    • @griffisjm
      @griffisjm 9 месяцев назад

      He's not working a "Low paying job", he works construction and some people get paid we'll. He's been in jail and hasn't been working, that's why he is relying on his mom. It's also absolutely ridiculous to hear some of these people have been in jail for a year or more and haven't been indicted. Absolutely ridiculous and Georgia should be reprimanded for violating their rights. As for the "Banger', as a former "Banger" myself, I've only ever met 1 who didn't have tattoos, and they must have some real evidence because if the victim is signing affidavits that defendant is innocent, and they don't have video or something, then he should get straight paid. It's one thing to keep someone in jail and not indict them and on soft charges. If there is evidence tho, which she didn't mention, they should lock him up for a decade and deport him.

      Fulton County (similarly to Wayne County in Michigan) has a lot of issues, and because of those issues, Georgia has a _very_ expansive, court-created concept of what constitutes "speedy trial." There are people held for more than a year who _have_ invoked speedy trial. And, where in many jurisdictions, the judge would start PR bonding and/or forcing the cases to trial, whether the prosecution is ready or not (which usually results in the DA withdrawing the charges). I think Fulton has been hesitant to do this because _so_ many of this pending cases are _serious_ violent crimes or _large_ drug trafficking cases. Cases that carry mandatory life. And they want neither the backlash, nor the fallout, for letting these guys out.

    How is it legal for them to hold these people for 200+ days without indictment? Dont they have a right to a speedy trial and the presumption of innocence? If they are such a risk to society why dont they indict them?
