Quick advice for the person who is committing a armed robbery: Don’t stand at a kissable distance from whoever you are robbing, they might have watched a self defense tiktok.
"I don't have arms, sir" is actually a really good method, because they'll just sit there trying to comprehend how you're driving a car and before they know it, you took their gun.
Something to remember is that the recoil spring in real guns is waaay stronger than an airsoft one, it takes a lot more force to move the slide back. I was surprised by this the first time I shot a real pistol, I actually thought the slide was stuck for a moment when I first tried to chamber a round. It also won't lock back if there's more ammo left.
"I'm taking you to a secondary location!" That has to be one of the most threatening things I've ever heard in my life. Charlie really is an incredible actor.
I believe the gun slide stopping part isn't gonna do anything. Once that trigger is pulled the hammer goes and it will strike before reciprocating a new round into the chamber. all that does is save you from being shot twice.
If you stop the slide in the rearward position (even slightly, if I'm not mistaken) then it will prevent the gun from firing. If you stop the slide in a forward position, you will get shot lol.
@@EzekiesAcheron yeah but if the trigger was already pulled your still getting shot once. Sliding the slide back keeps it from chambering a new round till the slide comes forward again once you let go. No matter what if that trigger is pulled even pulling it back you’ll be shot once
@@Jonathan-os2eg you forgot one crucial detail, the extractor. If you pull the slide rearward the chambered round is coming out of battery and won't be able to be fired.
It can't be fired with the slide back even a little but there's is one important detail. The slide takes way more force to pull back than an airsoft gun. An airsoft gun you can probably pull it back with your tongue. A real gun a child could probably not pull the slide back, at least not without a ton of effort. You could still do it obviously, but this would make this technique noticeably harder and more than likely result in you just pushing the dudes arms back and getting shot unless he's got really stiff arms before you touch the gun for some reason, but that's just unreliable more so than basic disarm techniques.
@Jonathan when the slide moves back, it pulls the hammer/striker back as well. That's no to mention you can't fire the gun with an open chamber or that the round would have been, if not extracted completely, then not properly seated in the chamber.
"Alright, first, you wanna get shot and die. This makes it easier for your attacker to do what they need. They also can't hurt you if you're already dead."
I had a Krav coach who I realised was legit in that there was no attempts to sugarcoat or bullshit any special techniques or moves and in a way it hurt the business as people wanted those easy confidence boosting things like that guy shows. I was interested in doing instructor training down so I was allowed to attend the military only class that couldn't do before and it was night and day difference. The civilian class deals with de-escalation and fitness and extremely selective direction for when force was reccomended. The idea for that class is that survival is the focus so verbal communication and best way comply with attackers is the main philosphy based on the idea that if someone who was going to kill you would do it from 10 meters away or further so they usually want something and only when they try to take you somewhere that force is considered or imminent threat to life. The other class was totally different and had the caveat that the hand to hand situation is totally different for soldiers and will almost certainly result in serious injury in some form or another for you and the opponent. The direction is that after the initial move, its pure violence that will win it rather than a clean disarm no-jutsu. I saw how seriously he meant about getting injuries when each scenario or exercise would follow medical practice for the most likely injuries for each one. I.e disarming a knife will almost always get you cut up or stabs as the actual techniques taught involve the use of blocking with a forearm and the retaliation by anyone trained is to drag the knife away and dig it into the flesh, opening it all up so once the fight is done, you have to torniquet and assess how much blood you have lost. There were even exercises that involve attempting to maim or cripple the opponent so that if they kill you, the next person who comes in can finish them off. It was gnarly, like CS GO entry fragging in real life.
It's amazing how trainers differ. I swear there is an instructor certificate mill out there certifying anyone that pays enough. My first instructor was the best I ever had to the point I could have walked into the others and taught their stuff day one. Now D U.S.T, that Dale guy will straight up get you killed.
I just like to imagine that both people have watched DUST, and so as soon as the victim takes the gun the other person just goes and does the exact same thing in a never ending loop

I'm not even kidding, this is actually the first video I've seen with him in it so I legit thought they were at some actual defense class because of that opening. What other videos has he been in?
I want to see one of these self defense TikToks where some is pointing a gun at the guy through a car windows and the guy just slowly raises the window in response, it’d be about as effective as Dale’s techniques
As someone who actually handles guns quite often and is around idiots who don't know what trigger discipline is, if you even flinch and the dude has that finger on the trigger he's gonna pull it before you can do anything. You have no idea how many times in the middle of explaining what trigger discipline is I just hear a 'click' followed by an "ooh oops" under someone's breath. It's a lot more funny when they've got the shotguns and they click much louder
Example you present is flawed, those learning or operating weapon for recreation have a different mentality. The operation on ones trigger during something like this will either be sloppy or delayed. Ex) Take the incident with the retired veteran against two hooligans who tired to rob. Their position and opportunities had at a very advantageous spot. But due their mindset failed miserably.
The Bible says in John 3:16-36 that whoever believes in the Lord Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life, the Bible also says in Romans 10:9 that those who declare with their mouth that Jesus Christ is their God, Lord, and Savior they shall be saved. Former estsof member here, distance counters all of these half functional tactics. My instructor told us to have at least 1m of distance between my enemy's hands and my gun. Bonus points if he cannot see the gun directly. You have a ranged weapon, take advantage of it
These self defense things are theoretically possible; and my vietnam grandad actually disarmed a guy point blank at a bar once. But a 33% success chance or less is not worth risking your life over.
That's the main point I guess. Under the most favorable circumstances they MAY work in a DO or DIE situation. Most of the situations people will find themselves are not like that. Just give the robber your wallet and live another day.
Yea, the push gun up one doesn't actually seem that bad and I was surprised how the gun to head one didn't always fail. But they all seem significantly worse than just giving up your wallet, these are more "hostage about to be killed" and not "wallet about to be stolen" tricks.
I love the entire premise of this video at face value is a couple of guys come up to rob this guy and then become so impressed by his self defense skills that they break out a camera and start testing the extent of his prowess
Everyone loves to imagine that if they were to get mugged, they'd turn into John Wick and pull some cinematic action movie shit. But more realistically, most of this wouldn't work and almost anyone who'd try this in a real situation would just be giving themselves a death sentence.
“This entire video is a PSA on why people need fucking gun safety” Matt with the BIG W E; just wanted to clarify, as this is one of my biggest liked comments lmao, I live in England but 110% for 2A. Does something drastically need to be done, either to the vetting process or what guns are legally allowed to be sold for self defence so we decrease things like drive by shootings and school shootings? Absolutely. Is a gun one of the best deterrents to someone trying to break into your house, steal your car, rob you or sexually harass you? Damn straight
Lol right? Like who the actual fuck would put the gun directly into someone’s chest or skull or something. They would always keep a distance of a few feet so that they have the advantage of being able to shoot you before you can even reach them.
@@blainejackson2857 Well the only real scenario why you would put the gun so close, is if you are trying to be stealthy without being noticed by anybody else around, or if you are bluffing with an empty gun. That or if you have no confidence in actually being able to hit a target from further then spiting distance. :D
Because those are the requirements for most of the "techniques" to work. You can't disarm someone from a distance and you have like 99% chance of getting shot if the assailant remembers he has other limbs haha
To be fair there is not much point in teaching anything that doesn´t assume those things, since at that point your only real move is to pray he is a bad shot. :D
Or the attacker resisting in any form or function. I've seen any of the guys he's against do anything besides try to pull a trigger, usually a fully free second hand.
@Ryan Byrd Yeah, cause guns are only in the hood right? It’s a complete mystery how there’s mass shootings in schools, or shopping malls, dance clubs etc. You watch too many movies dude.
The real issue with dale is that the person holding the gun is literally just standing there and letting him have it. Y’all are actually firing the pistol so when you hear the sound you know you’re blown away on that one. If dale did that he’d see how many times he’s a goner
the only thing ive learned from dale's self defense class is that if i want to hold somebody at gun point, i should do it from a distance, preferably beyond arms length.
Yeah, that's the thing really. This stuff will only have any chance of working if the mugger is dumb enough to actually push the barrel against you, CCTV footage exists of people doing these crazy disarms in real life because the criminals came too close. But why the fuck would you risk it, if somebody holds you at gunpoint, it means they want your money and aren't out to kill you. Just give them your wallet and walk away alive.
@@penttikoivuniemi2146 Don't forget the people who do actual disarms are military veterans with years of experience who do drills against people who actually fight back. That garbage shit he shows just has the aggressor focus entirely on pulling the trigger that no one would actually do. They'd pull back their body, throw a punch and pull the trigger which would make any of his idiotic techniques fail.
@@penttikoivuniemi2146 Literally this. I got jumped one night on my way home. Some dude and his homeboy hit me from behind and got me on the ground. I just quickly yelled out that all my shit was in my pockets. They slugged me two or three more times but they quickly took my shit and ran away. Like, life just isn't fair at times. You're gonna find yourself (Unfortunately) in situations where the right option is to just surrender and let them take whatever they're threatening you for. Anything they take can be replaced. Your life however, can't. For all videos of people managing to actually beat their mugger, there's literally dozens of unrecorded attempts that ended with people being further injured or even outright killed by a mugger. It just isn't smart to fight back in every situation.
Another thing is that so many of these scenarios are flashy and would happen in a movie, but are nothing like the self-defense situations people would actually find themselves in
as long as the agressor is completely paralized unable to move talk or pull the trigger and also has the strenght of a new born baby and is also less than 1 meter away from you and also has no functional braincells
This video saved my life. I was in a situation where I was pointing a gun at an old lady at close distance but then I remembered this video and realised that she could disarm me and use my gun against me so I stepped away so she couldn't reach me anymore and shot her
@@CeezGeez I'm gonna disarm the asailant from six meters away I'll use my psychic chi powers from the lunar energy of mars to make the enemy sh¡t his pants and cry and yeet the gun into the nearest storm drain
To help the active shooter, he's having a hard time. 1. It helps to be more than 1 arms length away from your victim if you have a firearm. 2. Always carry a melee weapon, but a knife is always more personal. 3. Switching to your secondary is faster than reloading.
I've actually said that in his comments lol. All his fans were devastated. All his stuff is done in a controlled enviorment, with no resistance being offered, as is done at his desired speed. Everyone who's been in some shit knows your plan never survives first contact. Catch this dude outside of his "training sessions" and he would get his ass smoked and placed In a body bag
At 11:24 as someone who does Jiu-Jitsu that is a warmup. Its called a "Hip-escape." You use it to escape mount, which is what he literally is teaching you is a mount escape.
On a completely real note, a friend of mine was in a car when someone ran up to his window with a gun and tried to rob him. My friend tried to grab the gun and take it. he was shot twice at close range, both bullets punctured his right lung and he died within minutes. These self defense tactics are incredibly unrealistic and dangerous. Thanks for showing exactly why they don’t work.
I'd imagine criminals would look up videos on how professionals train to avoid getting robbed and read the comments, now they know all they gotta do is be 5ft away
Fun video. The "push" method seems reasonable. But that slide-lock maneuver is pretty risky. There are a lot of top slides with SUPER strong recoil springs that are hard to rack even when you have time & the right angle. Also, a Walther PPK for instance, has one of the shortest sight posts ever. There's virtually nothing to grab. (Not to mention revolvers).
To be fair, literally any kind of counter will give you a decent chance if someone is holding you point-blank, Hollywood style. If you’re ever holding someone at gun point (in a defense situation), never get any closer than 20 feet. Police have learned from MANY instances that an attacker can easily cover shorter distances before being stopped. Point blank gives them easy access to your own gun, and it’s actually easier to dodge or run. Imagine being 20 feet away. You start running 3 feet left or right, they only have to move the barrel an inch. If you’re point blank, 3 feet is 3 feet.
@@Resi1ience yeah but if you miss just pull the trigger again. And again. They have a lot of ground to cover before reaching you. You should hit a shot by then
@@Resi1ience I mean, yes and no, depends on how experienced the shooter is, but 20 feet is perfectly reasonable to be able to keep on target with a handgun that you’re even remotely familiar with. No firearm (that’s made well) is ineffective at 20 feet or less accurate inherently
@@alexarchivechannel6673 doesn’t matter, they can easily cover that ground, take the gun from you and kill you even if you’ve hit them more than a few times. Sooo many police body cam vids back this up. Remember that one vid donut operator made where he showed some body cam footage of a cop putting (IIRC) like 15+ rounds into a perp and the dude just kept on charging/fighting? It’s because of this that, even if you have your CCW and are a good shot, you should still work on your ground game at least a little- at least to the point where you’re proficient in the basics.
@@C4RL1NN This wasn't even about whether you would kill the person. It's about whether you'd be able to hit a single shot from 20 feet away with (presumably) a semi-automatic handgun. I have seen the Donut Operator video of the police officer who shot a guy with 50+ rounds and he was still up and running lmao
"Disabling the firearm" only works that way if it has a hammer. They're using a striker fire weapon, and pushing the slide back will have no effect on the weapon being able to fire.
Genuinely, how are those tik toks allowed on the platform? The advice is so laughably bad, and given the reach + the platform it isn't a stretch at all to say that they're genuinely endangering lives. I'm not sure what TikTok's TOS are, but I'm absolutely horrified that fake self defense tiktoks don't violate them.
majority of these that involve pulling the slide out of battery would be way harder to do on a real gun, it's super easy to pull the slide back on a bb gun
I understand how the chest thing works. It's because it's a browning tilting barrel action. This would only work on firearms with that same action, and even then, there is still a chance of an out of battery detonation if the trigger is pressed during this state. The hammer is supposed to not be able to hit the firing pin out of battery, but there is a small delay before the hammer is unable to hit the firing pin as it is cycling. Hi-Points (yeah, THOSE Hi-Points) have a fixed barrel and are delayed by the mass of the slide. Not to mention, these guns are striker fired and will potentially detonate anyway if the trigger is pressed.
@@mikethompson2745 well good thing the taking two steps back and wearing body armor aren't involved with each other and are instead two completely different actions.

The truth: Don't do any self defence technique If a guy with a gun tells you to give him your wallet, give it to him. Only if you know for sure he's about to shoot, then you should do something.
Its not just that the techniques are bad, it takes alot of mobility, skill, training and reaction time to even execute them properly. Dave teaches the fastest way to get an average person killed.
That’s what pisses me off so much, a lot of self defense takes time to train with someone in person to actually be helpful. Just watching his videos isn’t enough, and it’s concerning how many people he could be emboldening and making think they can just grab at the gun as if it doesn’t take a split second to pull the trigger, and the person with the gun is waaay more likely to shoot if they think they’re being attacked. Could these help someone? Maybe, but it’d be closer to dumb luck than skill. Everyone wants to think they’d turn into a video game mc in a confrontation but without real training it’s hard to have the reflexes and mobility to pull this off like you were saying. people should be encouraged to attend real self defense classes if they can and not just have a vague sense that they can knock the gun out of the way and be fine
The worst part is that all of these techniques rely on the shooter being dumb enough to get so close that they're literally pressing the barrel into you
Well any gun disarm requires the robber to be close to you. If they were going to kill you, they’d have done it already. If someone with a gun gets in close to you, it’s because they want something.

Yep
You can’t win them all
I believe the gun slide stopping part isn't gonna do anything.

@@thrawnedits5860 he has competition

Literally the best self defense advice for an armed assailant is get the fuck away as quickly as possible.

Revelation 1:8 says that Jesus is the alpha and the omega. Luke and revelation is the ending times, and Jesus is returning back. So are you going to submit your life to him or no? Narrow is the path that leads to the gates of heaven, but only few people find it. The gates that is the path to destruction is where many people find it! Jesus loves you SO MUCH! That he died on the cross, and was resurrected from the dead 3 days later to give us eternal life.

If you’re point blank, 3 feet is 3 feet.

majority of these that involve pulling the slide out of battery would be way harder to do on a real gun, it's super easy to pull the slide back on a bb gun

This was an incredible bruh moment. Cried of laughter, loved it!
Literally all of these "techniques" fail immediately if the attacker just takes 2 steps back.
And body armor is useless if they just aim for your head or legs... so why does anyone bother wearing it at all!
@@mikethompson2745 because aiming for the legs is hard. Taking two steps isn't.
@@thing4826 If you're two steps away, legs are hard to miss.
@@mikethompson2745 well good thing the taking two steps back and wearing body armor aren't involved with each other and are instead two completely different actions.
@@thing4826 Nice goal post move, when the obvious point is "not everything is effective or useful all the time, but every little bit helps in the right circumstance"
Imagine disarming this guy who had you driving at gunpoint....just for you to crash afterwards because your hands left the wheel
That is really counter-productive unless you wanna take like 3 ppl with you to the afterlife
Triple kill
Turn on Tesla autopilot secretly

"Nobody kills me, except me!"
reminds me of a video with a family (father, mother and daughter) doing this group pistol drill where they would constantly get in each other's way or get caught in a crossfire. i anyone finds it, you're a gentleman and a scholar
The truth:
Don't do any self defence technique
If a guy with a gun tells you to give him your wallet, give it to him.
Only if you know for sure he's about to shoot, then you should do something.
Its not just that the techniques are bad, it takes alot of mobility, skill, training and reaction time to even execute them properly.
Dave teaches the fastest way to get an average person killed.
Also, every single one of those techniques only works if the Shooter does jackshit. He just needs to let it happen. No reaction whatsoever.
Then why doesn't he say that people are stupid as hell
Fr like its some Spider-Man training
That’s what pisses me off so much, a lot of self defense takes time to train with someone in person to actually be helpful. Just watching his videos isn’t enough, and it’s concerning how many people he could be emboldening and making think they can just grab at the gun as if it doesn’t take a split second to pull the trigger, and the person with the gun is waaay more likely to shoot if they think they’re being attacked.
Could these help someone? Maybe, but it’d be closer to dumb luck than skill. Everyone wants to think they’d turn into a video game mc in a confrontation but without real training it’s hard to have the reflexes and mobility to pull this off like you were saying. people should be encouraged to attend real self defense classes if they can and not just have a vague sense that they can knock the gun out of the way and be fine
also depends on the shooter having the reaction time of a sloth on xanax.
The worst part is that all of these techniques rely on the shooter being dumb enough to get so close that they're literally pressing the barrel into you
Lmao yeah. But some people are dumb
You underestimate how stupid people can be though, but yeah
Well any gun disarm requires the robber to be close to you. If they were going to kill you, they’d have done it already. If someone with a gun gets in close to you, it’s because they want something.
Or not struggle when the other person is grabbing the gun.
@@ezragonda5378 yeah as someone who's been robbed before most are desperate and ate just thieves not killers. But put baby in a corner there's no knowing what people are capable off in desperation
