Same thing I did without watching this video 😂😂😂
The end result ia what counts
Great video! Many of us are aware of oil consumption issues on the A4 B8. After replacing pistons and rings problem addressed. This way I don’t have to rely on the mmi system to tell me about oil level.
Thanks!
Bravo, bravo, bravo, because of the oil dipstick issue I didn't know what car to get for my next car. All new car manufacturers seem to have lost their minds, lately. But thanks to you, I can consider buying an Audi with a 2.0 TFSI engine. If I saw you in real life would shake your hand sir!
Glad I could help! ✌🏼
I hope that audi will reach to all the owners and give them the money back for all the repairs and oils the speed on the models before they fix the problem with those engines taking so much oils and loosing the timing chain up to the moment when it jumps off the gears
Hahaha...funny!
No, they don't care.
Yeah, it helps having that! I don’t cut mine down on top like some do, I just leave in garage for oil changes and occasional testing, when it’s the biggest PITA trying to get a quick level reading.
That is also an option :)
Good idea!!
Thanks for this! What did you use or recommend to cut it?
Welcome. I used a small tooth saw, as far as I remember.
what is the difference between the part : 611 L and the 611 E ? is there even a difference?
Legend, Mine is 8k 2.0TFSI 2013 A4 Quattro ..Are you leaving this in? driving? No Problems? I've been digging and digging and couldn't get anyone who could confirm a stick that is perfect. Many suggested to buy one that fits, then wait till low or low warning, then dip it, cut 15ish mm below, and mark it (grinder tip) then add till mmi registers full and do the same above. so making your own dip stick. but you suggest 06J 115 611 L is 100 percent? I've found some on ebay - I'm goign to wait till i match up the bung, if they look the same I'll be getting one. Just to mention My wife has a 2016 a3 8P 1.6tdi - i tested het stick and it doesn't fit the bung - even at that her stick was measuring mid full - but when i dipped mine (without closing the seal/bung) mine read full.. but my mmi says half full. so clearly her stick is too long and obviously doesn't seal.
The dipstick is in since filming the video and I had 0 problems with it. It perfectly matches the MMI indicator.
@@UltimateDIY right sir mine arrived today. As mentioned I've an 8k B8.5 2013 2.0tfsi Quattro cdnc and I done a dip check. Stick reads max .. as in the top of the ridge ... The word max is printed above. But my mmi days mid hight ... So there must be a different length to the b8 and b8.5 .. I will add portions of oil, allow it to settle and once it says full on mmi ..then i will etch a max mark. But for the minute I will watch till I hits somewhere near low and etch it first. It's definitely different so I'd at least advise you add this information into your header so no one blames you for incorrect information :)
What if your sensor is reading incorrectly? Just a thought. Normally with the same engine code there should be no differences between the 2 engines, even if they are a few years appart. But then again...who understands car manufacturers anymore... Maybe they changed a few things, but kept the code 😔
@@UltimateDIY Hiya, I take it back, it's spot on. I just done a slow top up. And it in in fact correct. So yes, b8 and b8.5 the dip stick is correct! That was my bad sir! It was pretty high on the dip stick/mid on the mmi but full mmi = full dip stick.. go figure bro lol thanks again
Great! Welcome!
Thats awesome
A great help! Wish I looked this up sooner
Glad my video helped 👍🏻
@@UltimateDIY I actually ended up ordering the pre-revised part which has an E instead of L at the end. Its less than half the price of the revised part, which no one can tell me why it was revised. I suspect however that parts were failing due to it being left in the usual dipstick spot and the engine heat caused failure. I also suspect thats why Audi did away with the dipstick altogether. Either that or they didnt want more people realising the huge oil consumption problem, which triggered a class action lawsuit. Anyway, my plan is to keep the dipstick in the trunk of the car rather than in the engine bay, that way I can use it when I need it but I dont have to worry about it becoming overheated and falling apart. Didnt know whether you wanted to mention this in a video or not, but thought the info might be useful to you. Cheers.
I have it in the engine for 3 years already without any problems. Also, cars have dipsticks since e few good tens of years ago, and no issues. It's just the manufacturers beeing greedy, I guarantee it.
@@UltimateDIY fair enough 👍

Hi just bought an Audi A4 s line 2.0 petrol where did you purchase dipstick from in the video ?
Hi. Nice! You can get it from any car parts store that brings components based on part number.
Hi please help! I've been looking, but I can't find a specific Dipstick for my 1.8T engine. Is it the same as for the 2.0T? I see in the manual that they use the same amount of oil. thanks!
Sorry, but I don't know. Try to search trough the comments and see if someone tried it on 1.8T.
I have exact the same issue
I’m always wondering why they removed oil dipsticks?
Cost reduction. And also, most people these days don't care about checking engine oil. They just change it from time to time and maybe top it off if something shows up on the dashboard.
Because they want you to blow your engine and buy another one
There is a dash warning from the sensor. But they do want you to go to the dealership for basically anything, even checking the oil.
What's the length of the dipstick? I found one on amazon, but can't find any details on an OEM Dipstick
If it has the part number I show in the video, then it will fit. I don't know the length.
Will it fit in the Audi A4 B8 2.0 Tfsi 132kw? Thank you for your reply.

Will this dipstick work for 3.0 tdi 239hp, 2008 ? Thanks for the video!
I have no idea.
When the 2011 Audi A4 sline came out the cost was 54,000 high end . You'd think that they would throw in an oil dipstick.
A chevette in the 80s cost 9,000 brand-new and it came with it heck I think every car comes with an oil dipstick ..
Only the high end cars don't come with one it seems..
Audi you listening ???
Audi replies .
If you could afford the car you could afford a separate oil dipstick...
Balls deep is what I say.
True. There is no reason to have only a sensor, when the dipstick is so cheap.

Does It works for 2012 Audi Q5 2.0t (211hp) ?
It should work.
My digital oil level sensor is misbehaving (2009 Audi B8 A4 2.0T), so I'm going to buy one of these "dipsticks". However, I don't plan on leaving it in the engine. It'll stay in the trunk unless I'm actively measuring the oil level.
Why?
The combination of the car having a dipstick access point without a standard dipstick and learning that the official "dipstick" is actually a specialty tool (Oil Level Gauge), makes me think that I shouldn't drive with the dipstick installed.
Just be careful and do your own research.
That is your choice, but I'm driving with it since making the video with 0 problems. Also, the fact that the dipstic access is 100% identical to the one on cars that have it, makes me think this was just a cost saving measure.
@@UltimateDIY Yeah, maybe. I've seen other people say that they've left it in without an issue also. It's probably fine. You'd certainly know by now if there were any problems. Thanks for making the video!
Indeed. Welcome and thank you for watching!
My thoughts exactly. Dip / Check / Put away safe / Replace bung.
Never check the oil with the engine running 😂. It starts misfiring like crazy.

Andrei Cusnir thank you for the information!
I've been told the oil consumption issues on these Audi a4's is a result of the piston rings that Audi uses to maximize horsepower. Can anybody tell me if that is true? Thanks
As far as I know it's just a fail in the design, as it destroys the engine if not fixed in time.
@@UltimateDIY alright thanks

Welcome! :)
In some countries it is mandatory to have a dipstik on the engine, VW chose to leave the tube there and put a black cap with an o-ring to seale the blow-by gases, they can also use in service a universal dipstik with sliding stops to check the electronic level indicator. Others, as BMW, chose to completly remove the tube and dipstick if not demanded by a certain market. It all boyls down to logistic cost when manufacturing, not only the part cost.
What site do I order it from? I need that.
