HEADS UP, I have to lower my graphics settings a lot to get the game running well. ESPECIALLY in New Atlantis 💀 For the first half of the video or so, I also had the resolution scale set to 50% without realizing it. After that, the game looks more normal. Sorry about that 😿
What a good video! I'm glad I waited to watch and remembered to come back. I found so many things on my own and loved finding a lot of these things for the first time. One thing I found really weird was exploring that vast area outside of New Atlantis. All of the cities feel so contained that it's easy to forget they are a part of their own explorable area, so it felt stranger and stranger the further I got from the city and continued to find creatures and landmarks, like an out of bounds area, but intentional.
13:33 - Can you really just "walk all the way out there and keep going"? Aren't there an invisible wall at the edge of the zone? I know you can fly to the neighboring zone and have it generated. But is that really "walk out there and keep going"?
I actually learned on twitter earlier that zones are much smaller than I thought. Not sure what to think of the game world now that I know that... I guess the illusion that you CAN walk out that far is pretty cool, but it sucks that zones are roughly as big as Skyrim's map.
Thank you for making this video. I have no intention to ever play this game so it’s nice to get a tour and see what the world of starfield has to offer
Personally I've loved the sensation of the Preloaded interiors when it comes to Bethesda games. It makes it feel individual, Comfortable, Unique. Like there's nothing outside the walls of whatever building you're in.
I kinda see what you mean. There's a sense of environmental intimacy in a tiny little building closed off from the outside world that doesn't exist in the open-air shops.
Great video as always this series really is something special. Would love to see a dark souls 2 tour someday in the future, that game deserves more love, I think it has the best areas of any from software title.
Honestly, when playing the Dark Souls series for the first time like 5 years ago... I skipped over DS2 😬 I feel kinda bad doing that, I should give it a go some day.
@@PretzelYT if it weren't my nostalgia in the way for the first game I'd say 2 is the best one it's so worth it. People give it a bad wrap for it's sometimes questionable gameplay choices but it's got some of the best moments in all of gaming for me.
In some ways, kinda. It's had me rethinking if my hopes of a more modern daggerfall-like would be enjoyable though. Walking in from location to location on barren planets isn't too much fun. Would it be more fun if it all took place on a single planet? I'm not sure. I do like the renewed focus on radiant missions in the game though. It seems like they want that to be your excuse to explore the galaxy, rather than just walking around empty planets by yourself. In Skyrim, they didn't really feel important, because walking around and seeing the landscape was its own reward. But in a game like this, a bit of structure helps.
Obviously, video game cities are always way too small to be remotely realistic, but there's a scale threshold that can be achieved to create a passable level of suspension of disbelief. Novigrad in the Witcher 3, for example, is way smaller than a real medieval city would be, but it's big enough that when you're walking through the streets it feels believably large and suitably immersive. Bethesda cities have never come close to being able to pass that initial immersion check. They are always so small that they immediately draw attention to the unbelievability of their tiny scale. New Atlantis is the closest they've come to passing that believability test, but it still comes up very short.
I should have made it more clear, I'm WELL aware that other games do that. 😅But it was nice coming from Skyrim and seeing that not all the shops are interiors.
I think i played like an hour or two of that like 7 years ago? I heard it's a much more grounded game than the later Far Cry games and I was kinda drawn to that. But I fell off for whatever reason. Could be cool to check out in the future...
Something that strikes me every time I see Starfield is how ugly and washed out the lighting is. The darkest shadows are a middling blue-green, the brightest whites are a disappointing light yellow-gray. Interiors are so low-contrast I feel like my monitor is broken. I've never seen a game so badly color-corrected.
I think the game forcing me to lower the quality so it can run better doesn't do it too many favors in the graphics department. But I'm with you, I still feel like the colors aren't the best.
I personally love the washed out color grading. The whole aesthetic of the game, from the colors to the soundtrack and SFX, is supposed to invoke an old school vintage sci-fi atmosphere. But I can see how some people might not like the colors, especially as they don't work well with HDR. Would've been nice if the color filters were an option players could disable.
"Why wouldn't Bethesda put a door here that you can't go through?" Because modern Bethesda is feckless and lazy and cuts corners wherever possible. I feel sorry for everyone who bought that mess of a game at full price. Or at all.
It's hard to say with me having to use the lower quality settings I have to, but I think Starfield does look REALLY good at points. It's just the optimization 😭

Fun watch! Some of those textures are so goofy. I'm excited to get the game myself and give these spots a visit
Yeah the performance isn't the best, but I'm having fun with the game 😁 excited to cover some more spots in a future video
The city looks aestheticaly mediocre. I mean, not that it is empty, but it looks devoid of culture and landmarks. It looks weirdly generic.
It looks like a mall
"Devoid of culture"
Ah, so it's one of the more realistic future cities.
I fear that same “modern audience “ approach is coming to the next elder scrolls and that we will get a subpar ESG score booster.
It's like Dubai, hell it even has its own Burj Khalifa.
Such a well done video, loved it! Would really like to see other city exploration videos especially with the other cities from starfield

The real slim shady just chilling in the thumbnail
I love this series. It's so nice to sit and relax to, or to have on while eating 😊
Could you please take a look into Silent Hill 1/2 level design? Love your content :)
I haven't played either of them, but I should some day. And if I do, I'm most definitely making a video on them 👍
@@PretzelYT I meant specifically, video game world tour! And holy if you haven't played them... ENJOY!!! Keep the magic, man ♥

Bethesda robbed Pretzel of detailed hidden areas.
Another great video by the mighty Pretzel
💪🥨
These videos are really cool!
Your videos make me feel calm 🥨

I hope you do cyberpunk video in same format as there are a lot of aesthetic vibes in the Nightcity and me luv' ya content
Dragonborn space edition
skyrim space program
Is this game the spiritual daggerfall reboot you were hoping for?

Nice to slow down in Bethesda games, take in the scenery, appreciate the little things and know, that it just works
I love how the Constellation Lodge is very inspired by the meeting places of IRL fraternal orders like those of the Freemasons.
For all Starfield's faults, the Lodge is hands down quite possibly the most gorgeous home base structure in any video game ever
It's a super chill place, I agree. Definitely a standout location in the game.
no loading screens to enter shop, Cyber punk, Assasins creed, gta 3,4,5, jedi survivor, elden ring, dark souls, red dead, & countless more.
I should have made it more clear, I'm WELL aware that other games do that. 😅But it was nice coming from Skyrim and seeing that not all the shops are interiors.
Pretzel's Bizarre Spotventure returns 😂
You’d love the building aesthetics of Deus Ex Human Revolution
Oh man, I do. I need to replay that game someday and make a video on it.
Man i was waiting for this one 👍
😁👍
@@PretzelYT Hey ive got a suggestion for a video for you if youd be interested its Far Cry 2

Playing with ultra low settings?
😢unfortunately

Ack! I wanna watch this but I am waiting until the game comes out. See ya in a couple days. ✌️

🤯 real?
👍
weirdly low amount of white people in this game
Fallout 4 graphics look better.
