i teared up a lot watching this, my nostalgia for this game hits so deeply and intensely. the music, the aesthetic, the design of the town, even the loading between acres. also it is CRIMINAL that we dont get to have slopes and cliffs and waterfalla like these in modern animal crossing

i miss when games had the kind of trust in the playerbase that animal crossing extended . that familiarity you described , that every new player has a different map they HAVE to get used to for themselves . it's a small thing , but its what made the gamecube version my favorite .
one of my favorite areas in the game was inside the lighthouse ! when i learned you could go in there , it blew my mind as a kid !!!

I haven't played any of the original Animal Crossing myself (grew up on City Folk instead), but I always hear my brother playing it from another room. The music (expecially the hourly music) just adds a whole extra layer to the vibe and immersion, and it's so cool to see how the styles change each game! (Love 7AM from this version!)

I always thought the triangle grass was a reference to pointy "blades" of grass, plus its a nice contrast to the circle pattern for snow :]

a special cable being needed to access a part of the game is pretty much like a form of primitive DLC
it wasn't needed for any real reason, Nintendo just wanted to make sure you paid a little extra for that feature
