Just as an update, I began doing this method in my "personal non-time-travel" town the day after this video was uploaded, and today sprouted my first blue rose.
Some days I had between 1-4 visitors water my flowers for me to help speed up growth, some days it was just myself. In the end I had 32 "hybrid reds" and it only took 5 days of cross breeding them together to get blue. This last part was all luck!

What layout did you use for your hybrid reds? I know you used the checkerboard in the video but in other vids you recommend the turtle/super turtle. Im at 18 hybrid reds (using the 4 step method with 1-2 visitors per day, worked great) and want to start rollin the dice on blues

I did this method and got my first blue rose on day about 65. I doubled down on the whites until I got 20 purples, keeping those purples going until I got 17 pinks, which netted me 4 "special" reds. I had friends come and water those 4 reds and got my first blue. I have now removed all whites and plan to remove all purple/reds and keep all my pink/yellows until I get about 40 special reds and just keep watering to see how many blues I can produce. I have also moved my blue to be alone so I can clone it. Thank you so much for this tutorial it worked like a charm.

Ok so I’m embarrassed to admit how long I waited and waited for the blue rose to appear in step four so I won’t. I was deciding (dreading) when to start your fool proof ten step process and I heard you say that you need two good reds next to each other to make a blue and I thought well before I scrap this and start a new plan I will dig them all up and plant them again so they’re all mixed up. Well, about three or four time traveled days later I got two, TWO blue roses!! Don’t give up, it works!!

  • @jabbajacks
    @jabbajacks 2 года назад

I used exactly this method combined with clone-testing (using the offspring from the hybrid reds, but cloned and separated from others) and I got the blue rose from a hybrid orange pair at only 48 days going solo!! Thank you for sharing- it's helped me think about problem-solving and simplifying methods all the time now
Speaking of that, I swapped out a bunch of pinks from the step 3 plot and beached them once I had enough hybrid reds to replace them with (while still making hybrids-offspring with a handful of hybrid pairs)- this gives you (general you) hybrid reds at the same rate you did with the pinks, but it *also* gives you a trimmed down set of oranges to test, with an overall higher yield of them, and a 1 in 8 chance of a hybrid orange instead of 1 in 16. Whichever way you go though, the hybrid red's offspring oranges can be easily tested with the basic purples back in the step 2 plot (extend it to step 1 plot for more pairs once you've enough purple, but take care to keep the pairs fully separated so you can identify where the offspring is coming from), as successful oranges will return a purple 25% of the time, *exclusively* a good purple at that. So you then bring two of that good purple offspring to its own spot, breed for a white - exclusively a special white - and put the special white on that successful orange for an easy super-hybrid-red at 25% (not to mention more of the hybrid orange and special white for more of such super-pairs)
But that's only a side thing to do if you have enough offspring clones to test already and/or feel like tackling something a little bit harder to... streamline the output process a little :') I was doing just this when blue showed up in the clone-testing plot but, you never know. I kept my idea simple as I could for this video comment but if it helps anyone else then feel free to take it

Personally, I'd want to use a separate plot for the 'errant reds' spawned from step 4- the increase of chance is potentially *really* good, 25% is nothing to sneeze at even if others have zero chances. It's worth it to give them a chance for a while- duplicate any errant reds and then breed them together in pairs, on the off chance that the two-thirds of decent reds showed up. Could save a lot of time in the end since these can overall quadruple your chances - if not more - should you get enough decent pairs!
Either way this is a great guide! Super simple and it doesn't daunt the heck out of me. Appreciated very much!!
*Side note: the oranges and blacks also have decent potential! All the more reason to utilise them- your chances of getting a good gene group go up to 40% that way!

Thanks for the awesome and organized method tutorial! I am looking at a breeding guide right now I saw as an infographic on Austin John Plays' channel, and it seems like there are other 4-step methods you could do. For example you could do this one:
    1) Seed White + Seed White, and also Seed Red + Seed Red. You want the 25% Purple from the white seeds and the 25% black from the red seeds.
    2) Black Rose from Step 1 + Seed Yellow. This will breed an orange rose 100% of the time.
    3) Orange Rose from step 2 + Purple Rose from step 1. You'll get a Hybrid Red 25% of the time.
    4) Hybrid Red + Hybrid Red = Blue rose 1.6% of the time.
Maybe this one would be easier? Idk I'm still new to this so I'm testing stuff out as we speak lol.

We tried the method in this video and just got our first blue roses to spawn today, May 13, 2020 using version 1.2.0 a. We time-traveled forward at least one year after each watering. We were hard at this for I estimate about 15 hours before that blue rose finally spawned. Definitely felt discouraged at some points along the way, but kept at it. If you really want a blue rose, don't give up! Thank you, DazzaBound.

45 minutes later, we're up to four blues. The growth seems to be exponential, but if you keep following the method, it makes sense. When we get a blue rose, we isolate it so it can clone itself. The reds will keep producing reds which have a chance to produce more blues.

If you do this without getting visitors to water do steps 2 and 3 in an x formation with the hybrids in the middle surrounded by 4 seeds. As long as non of the seed ones are touching any other flower they will all try to breed with the center hybrid and you get 5 chances to breed taking you from 5% to about 23% for the cost of a few seeds. Also the reds from step 2 are better than the pinks and will make step 3 25% chance to get red.

Each flower only breads once every day, so the middle flower would only breed with one of the four ones :/

@@davidanderegg1232 What I understood is that the middle flower will "try" to breed with one of the 4 and regardless of failure or success it won't try again with the other neighbours. But maybe I'm wrong and the center flower will only be marked as invalid if it succeeds? :/

And it only took covering over half of my island in all these types of roses to get there.
But hey, it was worth it. I did it without time traveling or outside help, so I can be proud of my work.

I tried the 9 step method and this 4 step method and the 4 step was quickly achievable. I did time travel with the 4 step and got my 1st blue rose after 34 days TT
However, I've been doing the 9 step a while (long while) and just left my orange roses on their own and actually got a blue rose 5 days after my 1st blue rose from the 4 step.
    So it works. Fab video

I had one large plot for the complex method that I started first, and then set aside a huge plot for the 4 step method detailed in your video. As of today, I have 4 super hybrids from the complex method (with no blues yet) but my 40 good hybrids from this method got me my first blue rose!

I'm doing a similar method, but it involves getting Blacks from two seed Red (25% chance), Purples from two Seed white (25% chance), breeding those together to get an Intermediate Red (100% chance), and breeding the intermediate red with Seed Yellow for Hybrid Reds (25% chance). No need to test breed, all of the colors we're looking for contain the correct genes, and assuming that you get the correct flower after the inverse of the percentage, you'll get your first hybrid red after 9 days (since you can breed the Blacks and Purples simultaneously, compared to 14 days with your method. The Downside to this method is that you have to ensure any reds can never clone themselves.
And, if you decide you want to do the more complex breeding, you can keep the oranges and whites that come from the Intermediate Red x Seed Yellow cross, and reuse the purples.
In fact, in your very own method, instead of taking the Pinks from the Red x Purple cross and crossing them with Yellows for Hybrid Reds 12.5% of the time, you can use the Reds (which have the same genetics as the Intermediate reds in my method) and cross them with seed Yellows for Hybrid Reds 25% of the time.

@roselover1995 Even with orange and purple the hybrid reds only have a small chance of producing that coveted blue. The trick is to create a huge bed of them in a checker board pattern and water religiously. If you want to improve your chances you can apparently get your friends to water your plants when they come to visit

I went through everything in your video and set everything up fully preparing to play the long game. Little did I know, 4 days later, I would get a blue rose from a random patch of orange roses that I’ve grown on my island. 😅. No the orange roses did not come from a different island. So tip for people the orange roses that produce blue roses do not have to come from a random special island, they can be made from your own home grown orange roses. I think the blue roses came from orange roses that spawned from red roses. No idea if they were hybrid reds or not. May be interested in doing another experiment.
