I bought the game at launch and still haven't "finished" my island. I did minimal terraforming, still haven't got all the hybrid flowers or filled my museum with nearly 450 hours spent into the game according to my switch. ‘normcore’ is my favourite because there’s little to no pressure to keep your island up to an, arguably, unrealistic standard in terms of aesthetics that most acnh content creators put out. I find it more enjoyable to watch gameplay of people who don’t care about making their island look really aesthetic or anything (i really like watching stampy and sqaishey). It also gives a lot of freedom seasonally: decorate how and where you want. You aren’t constricted by themes and it’s completely personal. It encompasses the ‘purpose’ of the game; to take it slowly, interact with your island, have fun filling the museum and contributing to the island’s capitalism, slowly decorating how you want. I love it :) Your island looks really spacious, cohesive and easy to walk around :D
The thing that makes me not love the game so much is how difficult it is to get new stuff. It’s been so long since I had a new item on The store or a new DIY recipe ( and I don’t even have that many, I just keep getting the same ones, and I’m playing since launch). This game is HEAVILY social-dependent and that sucks.
It's not even the fact that you may not have friends that play this game, what screws it up for me is that you have to pay for the switch online service to do so much stuff in this game.
Okay, I loved this! I’ve been playing ACNH since February and my island is still pretty bland. I see so many islands on RUclips and Instagram that are just unreal and honestly they make me so discouraged about my own island. This video encouraged me to keep playing and be more satisfied with an island that’s a little more basic and simple.
I’ve had the game for about 5-6 months now and my island still looks like trash, but I’m kind of loving it and the slow process. I start to get overwhelmed when I see others all finished and polished, but then I realize they’re probably bored now and don’t get to enjoy the ~struggles~ lol.
I too love the kitschy tile flooring! I recently restarted my island after burning out and my daughter, who watches your twitch streams, suggested naming it Juicebox, she said it was one of the ones you had in the running before choosing Tiny town I guess. We are loving life on Juicebox atm. Definitely not stressing about achieving a certain aesthetic anymore.
I love your normcore island!! i’ve always believed that the true purpose of animal crossing was not to create an aesthetically perfect island to show off online but to build something that you grow to love and call home
i love norm core because it's genuinely the o my theme that lets you still play the game (catch bugs and fish, shake trees for fruit etc.) while also being decorated and unique most themes force you to have specific "default" spots that aren't at all edited or decorated because the rest of your island is basically a pain to move trough and doesn't let you catch bugs or fish without moving and picking up items constantly
I love this. I also wish I had the patience to put down transparent tiles to prevent my flowers from invading... but like it gives me something to do. And I'm definitely not keen on resetting because I love all that I've gathered and built so far, even if I am a little burnt out. I'm really glad this is a method that works for others who are burnt out on ACNH though.
So when I started back when the game launched, I must have missed the memo for picking a good island, and clicked on a random one and it just, well the resident services location is just in a place that doesn’t give me a lot of creative flexibility. But I didn’t really realize how that would affect me playing until way later when I started to find the community online and see other islands and how they were setting stuff up. It got super daunting and overwhelming and I kept feeling like I couldn’t keep up with what everyone else was doing, so by that point it felt too late to reset. I didn’t want to start all over and lose all that work when I already felt behind. But, I made it a goal to prove that you didn’t have to go crazy with designs and terraforming to get a nice five star island. I was able to get five stars within the second month, still have never time traveled, and haven’t terraformed anything but a pond. My map looks just like it did the day I got the game. I still feel burned out, and there isn’t much to look at on my island still, but it was cool to see that I got it five stars without crazy construction and didn’t really change the island to work for me. So the word normcore is nice to hear when I think of islands like mine.
i also have a similar story! i used to go insane over how my island look. i was looking at so many different islands, my aesthetic kept changing and i couldn't keep up with it. it was overwhelming, so i eventually gave up on animal Crossing. until last week, i decided to get my hands on it again, unable to change my paths because i was too broke for a subscription, so i an starting with the paths i already have, best decision ever imo!! I'm very motivated now
Girl! I was sad too when I reset my game but giiiiiirllll!!! It reawakened my inner islander and I love it more than ever! It's like starting your next art on a blank canvas.
your island makes me feel SO cozy and nostalgic!! I haven’t played the game in over a month but this really makes me wanna work on my island again🥺 it’s so cute and just??? aaaaahh i love it!! i haven’t been able to catch any of your streams lately so being able to catch up on youtube makes me so happy! hopefully i’ll catch one soon though💖
honestly, i love the cottagecore and all those ‘aesthetic’ stuff and ngl my islands is very cottage core, but its a big hassle trying to Stay with the community and The new popular stuff, im now going to just make my island. whatever i want, :)
as soon as i saw the dream code, i ran to my bed and i did all the tour with you, it's such a sweet island, easy to walk around, and i loved watching all of you speed builds !! that was amazing 🥰
This island looks so cool and casual! It feels obtainable and not overwhelming like some other islands I've seen. You just got a sub from me. Thanks for being relatable!
I love how your normcore island turned out! It brings back such good memories. I also restarted my very first island, and while it was sad to see it go, I do think it's helped renew my love for the game. I love designing, but hated that that's what everything became out! It's important to enjoy the simplicity of it too :)
I was feeling so sad and anxious today. Thinking about how good it felt to play for the first time and how much it helped me. I haven’t played in such a long time for the same reason as many. Your video just popped out of nowhere, giving the motivation I needed to restart the game! Thank you so much! ✨✨✨
While there are some extremely impressive island builds, I still love coming home to my weedy, normie one, because I like the simplicity and flow of an under-planned place. I LOVED your dig-site and little yards for each villager. And “your bedroom” (that sunflower rug!!) was super lovely. Thanks for the share
I started a few months ago and I was trying to be extra to design this dream island that just wasn’t in my creative abilities. I feel better about my near future plans to flatten my island and kind of start over. Now there’s a name to my style! Thank you for this!
im not sure if anyone dropped the info yet but in a lot of cartoony/kiddy anime aliens are often depicted like octopus/jellyfish shaped hence octavians space theme! i think you nailed it
The reason I do not play this game as much as I would like, is because I am so intimidated by all of the insane designs and builds that are out there and I feel like my island can never live up to that. Watching your video made me feel inspired and that there are simple ways to decorate my island without me feeling like I need to overwork myself and cause myself designing stress haha, thank you for your video, its making me want to play this game more than I ever did before
Wow this is exactly how I feel too! I love all the aesthetic build videos I’ve seen but I always think to myself, “I can never do that” so then I get frustrated but then I remember it’s supposed to be about your own creativity, how you want it, and to have fun with it!
I just restarted my island as well, it's honestly been so fun!! I thought I'd mourn the loss of my original island more, but I just wasn't attached to it ultimately. Love your town and I'm happy to have found your channel!!!
I haven’t picked up my switch since May and this gave me so much motivation to get out of the slump I was in. The best way to put it is you and your island are so inviting and I honestly think I was burnt out on seeing huge builds and heavily landscaped islands I didn’t have the energy to try and play anymore. Thank you!
Yea. i havent touch AC this year at all. But atm I really wanna try it out again and restart everything. But am so torn between airport colour xD Kinda want the blue airport. but orange / green items. ... the horror to choose xD
I really appreciate this. I’m glad I’m not the only one who did this kind of thing. I recently started playing again. I had basically demolished my island and got burned out making it crazy fancy half way through. The last week I turned it into a normal island and it’s so much more fun than when I got burned out.
I really love your “normcore” look! I just started playing ACNH and I don’t have a Nintendo online membership so I can’t use the custom designs from the portal. I really want to make the most of the items and designs I do have available so seeing someone else make their island look so amazing is really motivating!! Your island is def 11/10!!
I’m really new to the animal crossing world and I was super super intimidated by everything on Pinterest, all the “cores” and I felt very overwhelmed that mine wouldn’t be “good enough” and watching these videos really helped me be able to fall in love with the simple nature of the game. Thanks ❤️ Ps, I downloaded twitch just for youuuuu 😙
What did it for me was when I stopped trying to have my islands be like others or like the pretty fairycore and cottagecore and began to accept my style as well as just experimenting outside of my comfort zone. I feel NH can be a good "artistic medium" of sorts and a great place for expression and experimentation with different styles. I love art and paint and draw and color irl and having NH as another way to express myself is really nice :) Another thing that helped was whenever I had people come over when I did a lot of trading, they'd compliment my island and it made me really feel more confident in my designing skills. Also taking time to figure out what it was about my island that I didn't particularly love such as having it feel too crowded in areas or having flowers feel too neat or too chaotic. That made me really find my love of the game again. But mostly it's just seeing my villagers interact with my island and each other. It's so cute and I'm so happy with it.
I’ve seen a few comments saying they wanna restart but are too scared. I have a lil tip! If you don’t wanna fully restart but want more to do, just create a new resident on your island. It kept me busy for a while and helped with my burn out :D plus you can get double items from Redd, Pascal, Gulliver, etc. it just keeps you busy so if you’re struggling with burnout I highly recommend.
It makes me so happy knowing others are into the whole simple, normcore style. I feel it let me enjoy the game instead of be stressed over decorations. I got the time to work on my island as well as finish the museum and create friendships with my villagers :)
its so nice to see a simple design on someones island. ive recently restarted for the first time and am experiencing seriousss burnout from the expectation to do elaborate themes and crazy shi. like, my brain cannot handle it. i will for sure just be keeping with my insticts from now on and its really reassuring to see someone else going through the same thing and not letting it get in the way. ❤️ will def be going to ur island in a dream as soon as i unlock that in the restart. 👍
I absolutely love your island. It honestly looks super good and has such a great balance of everything. Honestly seems perfect.👌 Love your videos too, honestly always look forward to the future upload❤💫
I saw someone else doing a tour of this island first and this video popped into my recommended, it's AMAZING! I love how it's still functional yet so personal!
I restarted as well. I just picked up Hornsby last night on a mystery island! Don’t laugh, but his sweet eyes reminded me of my pug! Bea was the first villager I found on an island…the second was Cookie.
Obsessed with your island!!! Taking notes for sure. I like how normal it is ☺️ I’m relatively new to the game and I’m having a hard time creating an “aesthetic” so seeing this makes me feel at peace haha cause this is so sweet!
I’m here to say thank you. You have change my mind. I don’t have to be the island everyone wanna see. Just make my own thing. I really like ur island because u are able to PLAY on it. Easy to walk but still beautiful and so decorated. I’m so so SO Thankful. You give me a hand full new motivation.
Omg this was uploaded a year ago today!!! I really appreciate seeing this video when I did, I really burned myself out from a lot of things including ACNH but seeing someone do an island that isn't attached to a particular aesthetic is very refreshing :) I'm currently vising ur island and I love it
I love the island. I’m kinda struggling now because I’m finally attempting a newish theme which is cottage/forest core so it’s kinda stressful so I’ll hopefully finish by 2000 hours.
I definitely have to take inspiration for my island haha. I've been burnt out on my island that has no decor or anything bc I've been focused on terraforming. Since I'm almost done with terraforming, I finally have time to decorate! Thank you sm for posting this
I played this game 2 years ago, I was so excited to play it and I searched through youtube for some ideas. Biggest mistake ever! I was overwhelmed with other people's over the top, amazing islands that I lost interest in playing. Like, how am I supposed to do that? 😭 Now, I'm back and doing everything on my own pace. I'm so happy, I've been playing it everyday. ❤️❤️❤️
Several things made me laugh out loud, especially Tommy and Timmy's parking lot. Yesterday I was watching someone play and a tricycle fell out of a tree. It made me think what a shame it is they can't be ridden around the island. BTW, I love your little villager yards. That seems such a great way to help fill out the map without going completely overboard.
I've restarted after the update and I'm in love with the game again. Things have changed as far as the "storyline" and it's fun to find the changes as you play
This is making me so nostalgic I love it so much! It reminds me of how my island used to be - hell, Billy was one of my starter villagers too! The Raymond viewing area is the absolute best omg I'm so dream-visiting this island later!
Omg this is my first time seeing you and you're SUCH a pleasure to watch. This makes me feel better about restarting my island 😂 I love how yours turned out!!
I just reset my island and like a basic person I’m doing a cosy, fairylight, hot chocolate etc themed island. A lot of my islands have been super over creative with loads of themes and completed villagers. I want this island to be a safe space for me especially with the stress I know is coming my way I want this island to be somewhere I can escape to and just walk around on it☺️
I think it’s interesting how normcore brought back tour love when its the opposite for me, i had a normcore island, which i ended up flattening bc i wanted to test my decorating skills and learn new things :)
I completely understand what you mean re: trying to stay up with the 'current' trends of the community. I had to take a long break from the burnout but just through picking up the game again and thinking about what I want to do without thinking about what's going on with what's popular design-wise I've been having a lot more fun!
I absolutely love your island!!! it's so refreshing to see, but also made me feel relaxed at the same time, and omg I love kitsch tile too, its one of my favourites!!!
normcore! that’s what i am, i note pretty much no one likes my designs enough to retweet, but i’m ok with that, having seen your house i can see i’m in the right place! thank you for giving me a shameless corner of acnh fandom to live in!
I have a really special story about Raymond coming to my island, he showed up in my camping area even though I had two Smug villagers and a cat villager. I did win 5 card games in a row and he did choose the villager I wanted to be replaced. It was so perfect that I still don’t know how it happened. This did also reignite my joy of playing the game.
I love this! I want to get back into AC, it brought me so many chill happy vibes in 2020. I last played 3 months ago just to clean up. I got on last night and felt so comforted. I think I am done trying to make a “perfect” island. So many amazing creators but it def pushed me to burnout trying to make something incredible. I’m just gonna play for me 💕
Also feeling excited for the ACNH Direct next week. Trying not to have my expectations too high but I hope it brings new items/DIYs and not just Brewster. For a game that encourages daily play, I find myself disappointed with seeing the same rotation of items in my shop. I need new stuff to work with! Bring us new items Nintendo!!

It's not even the fact that you may not have friends that play this game, what screws it up for me is that you have to pay for the switch online service to do so much stuff in this game.
@@rachi1435 definitely that's true too!!!
I love your normcore island!! i’ve always believed that the true purpose of animal crossing was not to create an aesthetically perfect island to show off online but to build something that you grow to love and call home
i love norm core because it's genuinely the o my theme that lets you still play the game (catch bugs and fish, shake trees for fruit etc.) while also being decorated and unique
most themes force you to have specific "default" spots that aren't at all edited or decorated because the rest of your island is basically a pain to move trough and doesn't let you catch bugs or fish without moving and picking up items constantly
I just plant weeds to stop the plant spread. (I just feel the weeds give some well deserved texture to the ground)
@@PaigeLTS05 weeds would look completely messy on my island. They also change during the seasons and don't have the same vibe
oml i can’t get over your normcore island the detail is so good 💖
This is the personality and vibe I wish every ACNH RUclipsr had. Queen shit.
Your terrforming, pathing, is on point 👌 That map view, perfect. Love how the island turned out! Can't wait to see you do your next island! ♡
I started a week ago. And I’m glad there’s still content creators making content for AC! Your videos are really great!
your island makes me feel SO cozy and nostalgic!!
It took a grand 2 minutes for me to decide YOURE my new favorite RUclipsr
honestly, i love the cottagecore and all those ‘aesthetic’ stuff and ngl my islands is very cottage core, but its a big hassle trying to Stay with the community and The new popular stuff, im now going to just make my island. whatever i want, :)
THIS!
@@stephanierodriguez3160 yes! i believe its fine to be ‘cottagecore’ or ‘Junglecore’ But i dont think we should judge those who arent doing it too
as soon as i saw the dream code, i ran to my bed and i did all the tour with you, it's such a sweet island, easy to walk around, and i loved watching all of you speed builds !! that was amazing 🥰
I was literally just thinking earlier, there have to be some island tours that have a more accessible feel - really glad I found this.
I love how this island came out!!!!!! And the merch is AMAZING I can’t wait to rock that tee
Love your vids... I´ve watched like all of them (not really) but I just bought the game and I´m CRAZY about it!
But am so torn between airport colour xD
Kinda want the blue airport. but orange / green items. ... the horror to choose xD
I know this is about the island, but I would like to say that you are GORGEOUS! Your hair looks fabulous and to DIE for!
Your island is adorable. I love the little areas especially the Timmy and Tommy parking. *giggle*.
Your island is def 11/10!!
the toilet room had me holllerinnnggggg omgg laughed so hard what a great end to the video
I’m really new to the animal crossing world and I was super super intimidated by everything on Pinterest, all the “cores” and I felt very overwhelmed that mine wouldn’t be “good enough” and watching these videos really helped me be able to fall in love with the simple nature of the game. Thanks ❤️
Ps, I downloaded twitch just for youuuuu 😙
What did it for me was when I stopped trying to have my islands be like others or like the pretty fairycore and cottagecore and began to accept my style as well as just experimenting outside of my comfort zone. I feel NH can be a good "artistic medium" of sorts and a great place for expression and experimentation with different styles. I love art and paint and draw and color irl and having NH as another way to express myself is really nice :)
Another thing that helped was whenever I had people come over when I did a lot of trading, they'd compliment my island and it made me really feel more confident in my designing skills.
You're right about restarting curing burnout. I finally restarted my game and I've been playing for hours every day as opposed to one a month lol
@@kaitlyn3452 yess!! I’m still working on mine lol
It makes me so happy knowing others are into the whole simple, normcore style. I feel it let me enjoy the game instead of be stressed over decorations. I got the time to work on my island as well as finish the museum and create friendships with my villagers :)
For me, I think the drive-in was the most mind-blowing thing I saw. I'm not sure why I've never thought of that. Fantastic island!!!
its so nice to see a simple design on someones island. ive recently restarted for the first time and am experiencing seriousss burnout from the expectation to do elaborate themes and crazy shi. like, my brain cannot handle it. i will for sure just be keeping with my insticts from now on and its really reassuring to see someone else going through the same thing and not letting it get in the way. ❤️ will def be going to ur island in a dream as soon as i unlock that in the restart. 👍
I absolutely love your island. It honestly looks super good and has such a great balance of everything. Honestly seems perfect.👌 Love your videos too, honestly always look forward to the future upload❤💫
Giving Chadder a grave for the lols is my whole vibe
I saw someone else doing a tour of this island first and this video popped into my recommended, it's AMAZING! I love how it's still functional yet so personal!
I restarted as well. I just picked up Hornsby last night on a mystery island! Don’t laugh, but his sweet eyes reminded me of my pug! Bea was the first villager I found on an island…the second was Cookie.
Ive just reset my island yesterday and it feels so great to be excited about the game again
Obsessed with your island!!! Taking notes for sure. I like how normal it is ☺️ I’m relatively new to the game and I’m having a hard time creating an “aesthetic” so seeing this makes me feel at peace haha cause this is so sweet!
you’re so comforting.. like I could listen to you talk all day. I had to subscribe
I still love this game too. Remodelling my entrance way now. It’s such a nice stress free game omg
This makes me feel so nostalgic. Thanks for sharing Liss!
I actually had the opposite toilet problem and had trouble finding one lol
So it's interesting to hear that you couldn't stop receiving them
You know what real challenge is? Keeping your island. I bet just a few youtubers are capable of it. The real AC fans I think.
I couldn't imagine resetting my island. I didn't spend over a year collecting and cataloging to have all of my progress taken away.
I definitely have to take inspiration for my island haha. I've been burnt out on my island that has no decor or anything bc I've been focused on terraforming. Since I'm almost done with terraforming, I finally have time to decorate! Thank you sm for posting this
great island! loved it so much! I have a "norm core" island too and its feels just as special as anyother core
That seems such a great way to help fill out the map without going completely overboard.
ahhh this island is so cuteee. very inspiring as i’ve been burnt out for months and have been aiming for a normcore island 🙏
I've restarted after the update and I'm in love with the game again. Things have changed as far as the "storyline" and it's fun to find the changes as you play
@@kaitlyn3452 spamming?
@@kaitlyn3452 okay totally didn't do that on purpose, and there is absolutely no need to be rude.
This is making me so nostalgic I love it so much! It reminds me of how my island used to be - hell, Billy was one of my starter villagers too!
The Raymond viewing area is the absolute best omg I'm so dream-visiting this island later!
Just now realizing I found your island on a random dream address, I loved it!! Thank you for having me over!!!
This island is beautiful 😍. I love your idea of "normcore" and how it isn't a specific theme. I love Phoebe's yard area the most.
Omg this is my first time seeing you and you're SUCH a pleasure to watch. This makes me feel better about restarting my island 😂 I love how yours turned out!!
Your bedroom is so aesthetic its making me want to reastheticaze my entire life
Thank you RUclips algorithm for bringing me here 🙏🏼 This was so refreshing to watch. The simplicity gives me such happy vibes 💖💖
I just reset my island and like a basic person I’m doing a cosy, fairylight, hot chocolate etc themed island. A lot of my islands have been super over creative with loads of themes and completed villagers. I want this island to be a safe space for me especially with the stress I know is coming my way I want this island to be somewhere I can escape to and just walk around on it☺️
I love your island so much!! Very refreshing, such a sweet throwback to the game’s early days including some of the memes from that time 😂
When me and my siblings shared an island, we did in fact have a toilet collection, it was in front of nook’s cranny
Raymond’s yard is hilarious omg. I haven’t finished the full video yet but I’m really enjoying your island tour so far!!
I literally followed just now because I saw your merch 😂 First time ever visiting your channel and I already love it here!
I love how youve really personalised the villager yards!
I cant wait to see how the fall island progresses!
Roald having a whole frat house yard is the best part of your island 😍
this is the cutest island ive ever seen (i luv normcore) i also LOVE your hair youre so cute
Bring us new items Nintendo!!
cant wait to see your next island!!! I've loved going on this normcore journey w you!!
Thank you for the island tour. You did a great job! I love your hair!!!
