my burnout started when i was running out of storage, there was so much stuff i could sell but I'm a hoarder, i was thinking "but what if I'm gonna need this stuff and then deeply regret it after i sold it" and then so many villagers kept giving me stuff so i just quit. i haven't played it in months and I'm scared to go back in fear of my villagers reaction
Ironically in New Horizons villagers only start asking to leave once they have a high friendship. I think they did this because in the old ones it was the opposite and new villagers would often be the first to leave making players unable to properly meet them. So by ignoring and harassing Hopper you made it as likely as possible that he would stay.
i feel like it would make more sense for friendship to just start in the middle and once it gets low they leave? or have there be different chances they leave at any given time, because that's how people normally work

In my opinion, having that one ugly villager that you HATE is part of the animal crossing experience, my first campsite villager was HANS and I hated him, I decided too try and become friends with him, by writing letters and sending gifts, I sent him a 5k bell stereo, then my sister later found it IN THE TRASH, I still found that experience so amusing and funny too me lol
Here's a tip for the future. Wait with using youre good Amiibo's (like Biskit) until youre at the max of 10 villagers if you wanna get rid of a villager that you don't like. This way you won't only get the villager but you can also choose who's gonna be replaced 🙂.

I love how slowly more and more people are coming back to animal crossing lately. Even I've come back after getting burned out similarly (3 years for me though oof).
I was gone for exactly 2 years and 7 months 😭 (mostly because I lost my Nintendo switch but it was like finding gold when I found it a couple weeks ago)
I love how the town is more self sufficient than the past games...i came back after a year and was surprised that my town wasn't destroyed like in previous games
I definitely understand the feelings of burnout. I honestly feel like this game gave me too much control. Because knowing I could make the perfect island and seeing everyone online do it, made me tackle it like a project. And it almost became like work to me. Or maybe my mindset has just shifted over the years. Because when I played new leaf as a kid I didn’t feel this way. Either way, this game is definitely odd in how stressed it can make you when it’s supposed to be relaxing. Great video though! I love your animation style and you always make these stories interesting.
i feel that it was because new leaf and the previous games focused more on the villagers than building the town. Adding decoration was much more difficult, so building just one fountain felt like a huge accomplishment. Honestly, New Horizons might've been a lot less fatiguing if they combined new leaf's construction mechanic with the crafting mechanic.
You need a whole new switch to have a new town if you don’t want to have to delete your island. But other than that, it sounds really fun to play alongside you on stream.
If it makes you feel any better, there is absolutely no way that biskkt could have been on your island. Every villager that spawns on your in the start has to either sisterly or sporty

Now I'm just taking it easy street and finally cleaning up my island...and restoring half of the islands tree population because call me American cause I deforested almost all of my island. the funny thing about biskit is that he was one of the villagers i chose to move in with the nook miles tickets, and i didn’t care about him at first but i slowly started to love him, and now seeing that one of my favorite youtubers shares a favorite animal crossing villager with me is just amazing
I love time-traveling. Once I found out about it, I was hesitant at first (and a little scared), but once I did it, I couldn't stop. I do it all the time. Let's be truthfully honest, I'm not waiting one day, in real-life for a plot to be filled, or a plot to be moved. That's just plain ludicrous. And, if anyone has a problem with time-traveling, they can just talk to the hand because it's not cheating. I don't know why people, nowadays, love to ruin shit for other people.

And now, they have their own corner of the island that I’ve decorated and affectionately dubbed “the retirement community” where they can be grandpas in peace. 😂☺️💛
I love Hopper, maybe I’m biased because I grew up in a place where there were literally no other children and I spent my days hanging out with the old guys, but he’s just great.
Just a heads up for the future if you want to kick out an existing villager. If your island is full, you can use an amiibo card to bring in a new villager and kick out an old one. After you gift the amiibo 3 times, they'll say they want to move in, but will notice your island is full. Then, they'll ask you if there's anyone in particular you think is wanting to leave and you can choose from there.

I understand this fully lol I recently got a switch and started playing Animal Crossing. I definitely time jump if necessary and will go to the occasional treasure island, but I don’t stock up on money or go crazy on hybrid flowers. The daily or so log in and grind is what I enjoy most
This video was great, I definitely relate to the burnout. I got a bit tired of acnh, but when I reset, I was excited. Then I realized my old town was still "there," and the guilt got to me, I can still play on my new island, but I still have days where I think about that town

I feel this. 3 years I’ve struggled with this game. But I just discovered treasure islands, and it’s a game changer. I finally can have an island that will make me happy without the struggle and burnout.
I burned myself out a few years ago because constantly trying to do all the daily stuff became exhausting, and I haven’t recovered since. I swear I’ll return someday.

14:25 I don't know if you know this, and sorry if you do but you CAN'T just get a new island with a new copy of the game like the other animal crossing games, you have to buy a WHOLE NEW SWITCH because once you make an island on one switch, it's hard saved onto the switch itself unless you delete the island on the switch It's really stupid but hopefully you can figure out something because making an island with you sounds really fun :)
One thing I greatly miss from Animal Crossing was that coffee shop mini game: sure it was difficult because of how some villagers acted like you gave them coffee for the first time even though you never did. I feel like a good way to fix it would be to have a list of the ingredients that you got right, so that when it's completed you have the choice of automatically finishing it or doing it yourself for the sake of messing up as a bit of payback. Hopefully we get it back in a future installment along with the water fountain spirit from Cityfolk and a few new things like a movie theater where some villagers have their own thoughts on the movie and playable tabletop games that have storylines with major art style shifts depending on the type of game it's based off of.
The cinematic of Biskit being brought to life by the Amiibo is exactly how I felt when I scanned Julian in and saw his new design for the first time 🥰🥰🥰🥰

i got into animal crossing really young, and i’m still kind of a kid now, but i remember how i immediately came out of my animal crossing new leaf burnout as soon as new horizons was released. i ended up getting it for my birthday since it was only 2 days after, and i played for a good year before i went into a big burnout because i couldn’t find anything else to work on (specifically after i finally got tia and aurora since they’ve always been apart of every town i’ve had). after my friends told me that they finally picked the game up, i finally got more motivation to start playing again! i stole my brother’s lite (which he never used) and did the same thing you did - i still play on it today, it really helps getting a fresh start ❤️
I felt this so hard, the burnout hit me like a truck. I spent a few days straight playing and then got overwhlemed with things and stressed myself out of playing. There's a part of me that gets the relaxing part, and there's a part of me that's confused as to how anyone finds the game relaxing LMAO.
The touching reunion between illy and Biskit, years in the making was definitely worth it. First time meeting Hopper the penguin, not so much. This was an awesome video and I give it 12 dawgs out of ten. illy: “It’s been too long Dawg.”
Unfortunately, since Hopper was the last villager she invited before she got Biscuit, Hopper was never going to choose to leave until she invited someone else. (a.k.a. Biscuit) The most recently invited villager will never choose to leave until you invite someone else.
Also, just note that if you get your town all the way upgraded, you can go to Isabel and you can ask her to ask villagers if they can leave or if they make you mad

There's a lot you can repurchase at the catalogue. Just some special ones you can't.

This video was great, I definitely relate to the burnout. I got a bit tired of acnh, but when I reset, I was excited. Then I realized my old town was still "there," and the guilt got to me, I can still play on my new island, but I still have days where I think about that town

I don't know if you know this, and sorry if you do but you CAN'T just get a new island with a new copy of the game like the other animal crossing games, you have to buy a WHOLE NEW SWITCH because once you make an island on one switch, it's hard saved onto the switch itself unless you delete the island on the switch
It's really stupid but hopefully you can figure out something because making an island with you sounds really fun :)

Lol Hopper is in my town (last I played anyways) and I like him. His design stood out to me. He comes off as a grump with a heart of gold.

One thing I greatly miss from Animal Crossing was that coffee shop mini game: sure it was difficult because of how some villagers acted like you gave them coffee for the first time even though you never did. I feel like a good way to fix it would be to have a list of the ingredients that you got right, so that when it's completed you have the choice of automatically finishing it or doing it yourself for the sake of messing up as a bit of payback. Hopefully we get it back in a future installment along with the water fountain spirit from Cityfolk and a few new things like a movie theater where some villagers have their own thoughts on the movie and playable tabletop games that have storylines with major art style shifts depending on the type of game it's based off of.

i got into animal crossing really young, and i’m still kind of a kid now, but i remember how i immediately came out of my animal crossing new leaf burnout as soon as new horizons was released. i ended up getting it for my birthday since it was only 2 days after, and i played for a good year before i went into a big burnout because i couldn’t find anything else to work on (specifically after i finally got tia and aurora since they’ve always been apart of every town i’ve had). after my friends told me that they finally picked the game up, i finally got more motivation to start playing again! i stole my brother’s lite (which he never used) and did the same thing you did - i still play on it today, it really helps getting a fresh start ❤️

I felt this so hard, the burnout hit me like a truck. I spent a few days straight playing and then got overwhlemed with things and stressed myself out of playing. There's a part of me that gets the relaxing part, and there's a part of me that's confused as to how anyone finds the game relaxing LMAO.

Unfortunately, since Hopper was the last villager she invited before she got Biscuit, Hopper was never going to choose to leave until she invited someone else. (a.k.a. Biscuit) The most recently invited villager will never choose to leave until you invite someone else.
